Pictures/Backup - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

if you made a backup and flashed clean to update to 5.0 or another rom, that would save pictures if not saved to sd or you lost them?

If you wiped internal storage, and you never configured your Camera to save to Ext SD...the yes...they are most likely gone. Unless....you had picasa and configured your acct to backup all your pictures.

[Q] expert needed for question!!!!!

Hey guys, i have been writing and re writing different Rom to my phone for about a year now. But last night the worst thing that could happen happened. I did a backup of my external sd card and a titanium backup before writing the rc3 Rom final gingerbread clone to my phone. Well after writing it i decided i did not want it. So as any other time i just booted into recovery and looked for my nandriod backup and none of my backups were under restore. I realize now
that my backups including my titanium backups must have been on my actual phone and had been wiped. How can i avoid this problem in the future. I thought overtime i wiped my phone
and restored it, it was because i had my stuff on my sd card. I have a nandriod folder backed up from my external sd card but that seems to be worthless at this point. Any advice would help. Thanks, signed starting over.... Lol
you are correct in that all of your backups are originally stored in your phone memory (/sdcard) not your external sd card (sdcard/external_sd) unless you physically move them yourself or re-set the destination in each program. For example my nandroids are in (sdcard/clockworkmod/backup), TB in(sdcard/TitaniumBackup), and sms/mms in (sdcard/SMSBackupRestore
Usually flashing a new ROM will not wipe my internal or external sdcard. If anything it will wipe the INTERNAL sdcard not your external.
In any case backing up your backups is a good idea. Simply move them from their location to your PC. Voila! now you have all your backups stored on your PC.(aren't i smart) Now heres a little TOP SECRET tip..... ever since i started having mount to PC issues on random ROM/kernel combination's I keep a hidden nandroid backup in my external sdcard I always move my last nandroid there heres my path (sdcard/external_sd/backup/TOPSECRET/hiddenfile/poop/)... this makes it easy to pull your last nandroid just in case your internal does get wiped. Hope this helps
thank you for your reply...

change default SD card

so I made a big mistake this last weekend. I made a backup before the ota and didn't notice it went to the internal card. it got promptly erased with a relock and ruu flash. I want everything like gmail downloads, mms pictures, setting, etc on the external card so they are not cleared. is there a way to make Android use sdcard2 by default

Moved pictures to external SD > factory data reset > delete > gone from SD!

So last night I decided to do a factory data reset on my SGS2. The first thing I did was backup my contacts via the import/export feature... it moved them to my external SD. Then I went into "My Files," selected all my pictures and videos in the DCIM folder, and moved them all to my external SD.
Finally, I performed the factory data reset. I was surprised to see that my pictures were still there when I opened the Gallery., so I deleted them all.
But I soon realized that it also deleted them on my external! Why is that??? Is there any way I could recover them?
Thanks in advance
After the reset the pics should have been gone from DCIM but gallery gathers pics from sd card also so when you deleted in gallery you were actually deleting the files stored on sd. There are many threads about recovering data from storage but I'm very ocd about multiple backups so I've never tried any to recommend.

Technically speaking, the OP did not have any backup of his data here.
The term backup implies multiply copies of the data. Once OP scratched the device, the exported data became the one and only copy, hence no backup copy existed.
Always keep at least two copies of important data at all times.

[Q]restore apps(with their saved files) after full wipe

Hi, is there anyway to backup apps so that i dont lose save files? (so i dont have to restart from the beginning of the game each time)
It'd be best if there was some way to move apps + their saves files to the external SD card (also is it necessary to format extSD card before flashing ROMs that need full wipe?)
I heard titanium backup might be able to do this, but if i full wipe my internal sd card titanium back up + backup file also gets deleted.
Thanks.

Does titanium backup also restore save files and settings?
It backups and restores the application data storage.
If an app stores it's saves or some content on the sdcard, then that particular conten is not stored since it technically does not belong to the app and thus Titanium has no way of knowing what to backup.
I can however recommend for savegames etc to sync those folders on the sdcard with Dropbox. Not only will you have an offsite backup but it also includes the history of the last 30 or 90 days so if you f%#@ up ingame you can restore your old save.

Which folders do I backup? does drop also back up the app itself
Back up everything just in case, it's there for if you ever need it.
Luckily I can help you as I made the mistake last night of restoring system data.
First of all back up EVERYTHING and place it in your external SD card if you wish.
When you've wiped the phone download Titanium Backup again and restore "missing apps + data" just the missing apps and data. Do NOT restore the system files, it will result in everything to stop functioning.

Unable to save to Note 3 after restoring backup rooted rom

Hey guys
On my SM-N900W8 Note 3, I've had it running a rooted stock rom.
Yesterday I decided to try out Gummy Rom....did a backup in TWRP.....I also backed up all my apps with Titanium just to be safe.. wiped data....installed Gummy Rom....it just wasn't for me.
Wiped data again......restored my stock rooted rom that I've been using this whole time........phone booted up without a problem...SUCCESS! At least I thought success....started to notice some errors with some of the apps I have...
Wasn't able to get any of my snapchats....swiftkey was giving me errors.....then I tired to save a picture and saw that it had failed....strange
I Have several gigs available on my internal and external SD card....
Opening up Titanium....I can see that all folders, internal AND external say "This folder is not writable."
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Update: I've installed SDFix, and I can now save to my external SD card.....however I still can't save to my internal memory.
