Is anybody getting better than 5 hours battery on a JB ROM?
I used to get no less than 9 hours, sometimes as many as 18 hours on ICS (Joker's CM9 and Th3Bill's Paranoid Android).
I like JB, but I'm going on a trip up north next week, and I'll probably be hours without a charger. Can't have my phone die on me in a strange area.
I'm almost certain I have to go back to ICS to accomplish this, but if not, let me know.
And can't whatever preserves battery in ICS be ported to JB? I can't believe Google Now and Project Butter make it use twice as much battery. Doesn't really seem worth it. What do you guys think? 5 hours tops... vs. 18 hours tops... 3 hours minimum.... vs. 9 hours minimum.

battery life is decent on JB. regular off and on use i get around 24 hours average. constant use i get like 5-6.
turn off the data if you want it to last longer. or use airplane mode. better yet. go with CM7. i got up to 4 days of use with the data off. :cyclops:
ICS has better battery life all around. But as far as JB goes, CNA has the best battery life by a wide margin. Its about as good as ICS but comes up slightly shorter in most cases. I easily get 24 hours of uptime with moderate usage. About 12 with heavy usage.
Define moderate usage. I got maybe 12 hours when I do nothing with it

There are a few things that come into play. For one, after calibrating the battery it still takes two or three charge cycles to start to notice a normalized amount of battery drain. Also, profiles profiles profiles! Powersave govnah with three or four profiles for in call, screen off, etc. Increases battery life by about 75% in most cases.
Wow, just got my G2 on Friday night, and yesterday I was sitting around the house on WiFi all day, playing with it, I got maybe 12 hours out of it, before it was down in the teens.
Last night I charged it fully, woke up, unplugged the phone 100% battery, now 2 hours later it's down to 89%, and all I did was surf XDA and some websites for maybe 20 minutes all on WiFi.
I need to root this thing, and install CleanROM, and debloat this beast, because with a 3,000mAh battery and Snapdragon 800, I expect way way better battery life.. I am looking for Note 2 battery life, that thing could go 36 hours without sneezing.
Is it the ton of bloatware on the phone from ATT + LG killing the battery ? I am shocked at how much bloat this phone has, it's over the top with bull**** apps I never want on here, pretty ridiculous.
If you had taken the 2 minutes it took for you to write up this rant and look for the battery thread you would have seen the G2 has amazing battery life. You are obviously doing something wrong.
Give it some time to settle before deciding anything. Mine actually took three-four days and some reboots before it calmed down, and now I have about twice the battery stamina compared to HTC One (which I threw in the dumpster btw) .
Could be hardware issues. I had my G2 for a week now, and I tell you what the battery is amazing. I can easily get 4-5 hours of screen on time with 24+ hours battery life, and that's with stock. all sync (fb, whatsapp, twitter) with a few tweaks. I am coming from Nexus 4 and very impressed because with G2 I literally have a double battery life.
And also G2 is very fast charging. Only take 2 hours to charge from 10 - 100%. That's amazing!
My battery is getting better every day. Yesterday I got 14 hours of use, 5 1/2 hours screen on time, and an estimated 2 1/2 hours to go at 15%. Definitely the best so far. With more tweaks, I'm wondering how much I can get today.

I had some bad battery life initially. I found the biggest culprit of battery drain in my case was CarrierIQ. After rooting the phone and disabling the CIQ, my battery life has been great. It goes 24+ hours easily and it seems it can run 40+ hours though I haven't tried it.

same thing happened to me. First few days it was great then battery sucked. Disabled the CIQ with system tuner and I get 2 days and 5 hours screen time and still usually have 30% left
The battery life is love and hate on this phone for me. The love part is the battery life on this phone is great. The hate part is you have to turn off a lot of things to get that great battery life.
I've never had to turn this many things off to get good battery life on any other phones that I've had. I have to completely turn off anything location related which is a big bummer for me. I always like to have a clock/weather widget on my home screen but it never updates with all of the stuff that I have to turn off.
It's one of the few reasons why I'm moving to a Note 3. But when you heavily tweak the system, you can get fantastic battery life out of this phone. Good luck!

if you only turn off the google apps location settings and keep the app location settings on you should still see good battery. I use the stock weather clock widget and it updates just fine with those settings

[OFF TOPIC]
yet another topic's title that would detract would be buyers.
This phone has the best battery life of any phone I have ever had, stock. Even better than the Note series. Clearly user error
Battery life issues are so variable between two use scenarios it's like comparing apples and oranges. As others have said, battery life is pretty damn amazing for this phone.
Post some results from GSam battery monitor or wake lock detector to help you sort it all out.
I am still running stock, not rooted or ROM'd yet. Right now I am at 8h 29m total usage off a 100% charge this morning. Current battery life is already down to 35%, and only 2h 49m On Screen Time, and I have been on WiFi all day. I have GPS off, sync off, no e-mail or Facebook stuff installed yet.
Might as well give you a fast screen shot of mine
People with great battery life vs those with poor. Do you think its mainly settings and a good ROM or root with bloat deleted ?
Or is it hardware related ? Bad phones from factory shipping with damaged batteries or hardware ?
Sent from my LG-D800 using xda app-developers app
Battery so poor, I might return my G2 for a Galaxy S4 instead, for the removable battery.
Just shocked I'm barely getting any better battery life than my Nexus 4, which got 4h On Screen time, and over all only 12 hours usage
Do I have a bad phone ? Or just stock is screwed up and I should factory reset, or better yet, root and install CleanROM ?

Hello guys
Just wanted to share with you my experience with the OnePlus 2 concerning the SOT.
When I first got the phone (ordered from Gearbest), it had Hydrogen OS, it was a bit laggy and crappy battery life. I was scared as I thought that my device was faulty since it's ordered from china. I flashed Oxygen OS 2.1 through TWRP after full wipe, had only root and using Greenify, it got a bit better, but still, it wasn't perfect, there was some lag here and there (wasn't able to go beyond 52k in Antutu), and I would reach 3h30 SOT at best with heavy usage (my daily usage usually contains some gaming, listening to music, lots of browsing and facebook/messenger, whatsapp, youtube.. etc).
Until someone in the OnePlus forums suggested that I install AK kernel, so I did, and boy am I amazed. Performance suddenly become way better (62k in Antutu), and the most important thing, is the SOT results I'm getting now. Battery drained 40% while I got 3 hours of SOT as you can see in the provided screenshot. I played Asphalt for a bit, did some browsing and youtube and facebook, took some photos, used 4G for about an hour of this time, with GPS on battery saving, sync off, and 40% brightness. Android system and Android OS seem to drain a lot of battery though, would probably get better results if this gets fixed.
Seriously I'm so ****in' satisfied! Kudos to the developers of AK kernel, kudos to OnePlus for making such an amazing device at such a price (pretty sure you can't get these SOT results on the most expensive devices like Samsung or LG).
This proves that the device itself is a beast, it just needs the perfect software/kernel for it and nothing can stop it.
I hope that OnePlus team releases a more stable OOS version, with more features, probably with Android 6.0 as soon as possible? who knows
Share with us your overall experience with your OnePlus 2.
Cheers.
Still on the same cycle.
PS: forgot to mention that the phone's temperature became waaaay better after flashing AK kernel. The phone barely gets a bit warm and that happens when I'm gaming for a long duration or using 4G. It stays pretty cool on WIFI, with tons of apps running all at the same time (thanks to 4GB of RAM).
Glad to hear it. I will root it asap and test some kernels. Hope I have same experience
I have found great improvements using this kernel. i found playing a tower defense game for an hour took 20% battery. However battwry stats not accurate - restarting phone can see a drop of 10%.
First 3 charge cycles where 0% to 100%, and after 2% to 100%. Have never reset battery stats tho since 3 clean rom/kernel flashes

What tower defense game... My OPT drains so much battery with Kingdom rush origins and frontiers. I guess I could play it for 3 hours straight with one charge though...

With latest AK v.013, I am getting a battery life of almost 28 Hours with SOT around 5 Hrs. I don't use data and WiFi in on 95% of the time. Usage includes some music, Clash of Clans, Whatsapp, Mail, Twitter and other few apps. Kudos to AK for this amazing performing kernel.

3 hours of straight gaming is awesome!
Sorry to say that, but it's nothing special. Battery life depends most of the apps you are using. I've got similar scores on stock kernel. Look at the screenshot. From 90% it's 5h sot with 18% left. So kernel thing=control. But battery life=common sense ?
I have the same usage on stock kernel as AK kernel, using the same apps, yet the battery stats are way different. How can you explain that?
Mod Edit
There is a thread here on same topic hence use the same for all such discussions.

Is 3 hours of screen on time on Lollipop good? I keep hearing of people that get 5 or 6 hours of screen on time and No android device I get has ever achieved that. Even my xperia z3 tablet compact can't get over 3 hours of Screen on time. Am I doing something wrong? Like could I be using my device too much?
check apps wich draw most battery and get rid of them , if this won't work then do a factory reset ...
I get between 4 1/2 and 7+ SOT hours.
Depends mostly if I turn Bluetooth on (SmartWatch), GPS use (Google+ position tracking, weather),use a lot of Internet (chrome is a battery sucker, you don't believe it), sync a lot of mails n stuff like that.
Of course it depends on your apps, but 3 hours is really not a lot, may be your battery is not good.
The 3 hours screen on time is with heavy usage but the standby time is amazing.

I get 3-4 hours screen on time too. However, that's with heavy use. Viber, Skype & Talkray for 1-2 hours per day. I get 2-3 days standby with 3-4 hours screen on time based on the above. Also some light web browsing and some WhatsApp...

It very much depends on a rom.
I was able to get around 4-5h sot on lollipop, but it was on Google style rom. On some more customized or stock roms you may get a bit worse battery life.
So to answer your question, 3h is a bit below the average result.
The reason may be an old battery.

Old battery? My Z2 is only 2 months old and was bought brand new.
Perhaps rom related. Most ever SOT I got was around 4.5 hours and that was on Lollipop Google style rom...
I am currently running debloated stock .305.
I am not overwhelmed by the battery performance. my z3c with slim rom was much better.
So i wonder if i could flash another kernel and improve the battery performance.
So if you guys have some experiences that they will share i would appreciate it.
thanks in advance for any reply.

I'm on the xpower rom and it's weird: during 8h of sleep it only lost 1% of battery, after 10 minutes of browsing and whatsapp it lost 10% of battery. Unacceptable, "screen" is taking most of the battery as there doesn't seem to be any other battery intense app.
Does anyone have any idea?
Sounds like you have 10% drain in 8 hours with light use. That's 1.2% per hour. I think that's pretty usual... And yes, screen should be the most demanding component unless you don't really use the phone. Try lowering the brightness, the effect is almost exponential

Not really, I have 1% over night (which is great) but then 10% in 10 minutes as soon as I start using it (just browsing the net).
I would assume it's just not getting the levels right just after sleep, in fact you've lost 8% and another 2 while using it.

you think so? I rebooted it several times and it would always show the same %, only to drop drastically as soon as I used it. It's really weird to see the battery going down while using it for just a couple of minutes.
Battery % is always a guess.
It would be much better to actually use the device for a few days and then deduce how much battery time you get according to your own usage.
Im using XPower as well and notice the same issue. Battery can last forever screen off but then drains quickly when on.

Well compare to the latest stock firmware the battery seems to be night and day. I can easily get two days with light use. The battery drain on stock seemed to just be constant.
