Smart Select Shortcut - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Is there a way to have a shortcut for Smart Select without using Air command, like through App Activities etc? I'm on Sac's Note 4 port and I have it available in my ROM, but for whatever reason my Air Command will often times not appear, and despite many fix attempts and wiping/reflashing I can't get it to consistently come back. I would like to be able to utilize smart select without it though. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Copy -n- Paste issue Samsung Galaxy Note

Using a mail app (Gmail, Built-In (hotmail), Touchdown) I'm unable to highlight a large amount of text (30 lines) to copy & paste. I'd love to be able to select all but I'm unable to do that as well. This is killing my productivity with a device that I really like.
I've tried fingers and S-pen with the same results... often it looks like the selection tools come up but then quickly disappear or disappear when I'm moving one end up or down.
I used to be able to long press to get a select all with my previous Android device (Motorola Atrix 4G) but that option does not present itself on the Samsung.
Am I missing something?
Thanks!

Widespread Browser problem in Kitkat (4.4.2\4.4.4)

Hi
I have a big problem with slightly lesser known web browsers on Kitkat. If I set browsers to automatically clear data (history, cookies etc.) at exit they can't actually clear it. No error message or anything displays but they just can't do it.
I've tested this on both 4.4.2 & the recent 4.4.4 but the issue is present. So, please help me.
Steps to reproduce --
1. Use browsers such as Next Browser, Lightning, Naked, Lucid etc. and set them to clear all data on exit.
2. Surf some site where you can see your history without logging in (e.g. in Google homepage if you search for something & then go again at the search box your recent searches will be there).
3. Exit browser normally i.e. not by swiping out from recent apps.
4. Now, when you again go to the sites you visited on step 2 you will notice your history with them is kept. This data shouldn't be kept if the browsers clear all data on exit was actually working, right?

i think this is just the odd way android works (at its weirdest)
when you hit the back button and there is no more fallback processes to go to, like any app it would just minimize. its not neccisarily a bug but just weird design within android..
data should be wiped when asked to close (aka via recents or anything else like such, or even using a exit option within the browser)
I think its maybe a KK bug because in ICS and Jellybean this works. Why would developers give such an option in their products if this feature doesn't actually work? This issue is present in my friend's non-sony kitkat phone too. Google changed so much in KK, you know! No flash support, no text wrap etc.
Also, in stock Firefox v33 or later this clearing data at exit works 99% of time. Chrome too won't remember data if incognito mode is selected. So, what's going on? Is there no way to solve this problem cause I really wanted to use those browsers especially Lucid browser. Firefox, Chrome are so bloated!!
@XAoler you seem slightly confused, the browsers are set to clear data when the app is closed, you aren't closing the app, as @Envious_Data says your just opening a new window. If you want the data clearing you must manually kill the app.

No, no I am closing the apps from the exit option available in their menus. If the menu option is exit and I select that the apps should close, no? Also, I actually used force stop option as well from system settings. The data will stay even when doing this.
I don't think @Envious_Data said that I am opening a new window. He said its the way android works.
i did mention its the way android works
you have to kill the app for it to be concidered closed. pressing the back button doesnt always work even on aosp, cm11 or anything alike
Uh....none of you seem to really read my post. I am not exiting them using the back button. I exit the apps using the exit button from their menu. So, tell me is it not the correct way to close them???
Also, I used force stop option in android system settings\apps. Data will stay even when using this method. What do you mean by manually killing the app!! How else do you manually kill the apps?
Sorry, if you are killing the app using the exit function provided then yes the app should be clearing data if set to do that, to me it sounds like an app issue rather than the OS. Is the browser still present in recent apps after exiting this way? (should be without a preview) If so that suggests it's incorrectly closing down.
Actually I used 4 different browsers and all of them have this problem. So, clearly this is a OS problem. But I have now switched back to firefox. Mods can close this thread. This was of no use.

Access Lock (app permissions manager) on the V10, no root required

Access Lock is basically a lite version of App Ops, which has existed since Android 4.4.2. It allows you to restrict an app from using some permissions, such as contacts, call log, camera, audio, sms/mms, location, etc. I say lite because it doesn't ask for permissions in real time, but requires that you install an app, open Access lock, and customize permissions before use.
To use Access Lock, you'll need a way to make a shortcut to it's hidden menu. Many alternate Launchers can do this. I used this method:
Install QuickShortcutMaker from Play Store (doesn't require any special permissions)
Top left: change "Incremental search" to "Normal search"
Search for "Access"
Open Settings; look for "Access lock"
Click it, name it, create the shortcut
Open your new shortcut to Access lock and manage your phone
I hear that also works on the G4 and G3, but I can't personally verify that.

One of the big reasons I'd like root is for Xposed and XPrivacy. I don't like the idea of giving carte blanche to sleazy companies to scrape all my data and sell it to advertisers. If we ever get Marshmallow, it has app permissions management (thanks Google; took you long enough), which should do the trick. Of course the problem with that plan is it hinges on Verizon not being a bunch of goddamn bastards and delaying the update under our Sun consumes this tiny blue dot we call home.

I like the idea of using a firewall with root too. I used to do that with my Galaxy Note 2. That phone kicked ass with root!!
Sweet thanks!

'Just once' & 'Always' buttons are vanished from the popup window..

Seniors,
Please help me.
I have S6 Edge, Marsh mellow OS.
Somehow, when you get "Open with" dialog box, and you get some applications in that box, below that box, you will see "Just Once" and "Always" buttons.
That means, if you need some application to use this type of files just once or always.
Somehow in my phone, i do not see those options at all. It used to appear before but somehow those are vanished now.
I tried resetting the defaults etc from Applications menu, restarted a phone etc. But somehow that thing is not working at all.
It is very frustrating that every time you need to select the application to do particular action.
Please please help me.
I am not very keen to do a factory reset so trying this group for expert opinions..
Regards,
Anoop.
Guys, no one has got answer or come across this issue? Plz help
Sent from my SM-G925I using XDA-Developers mobile app
Since 6.01 the same happens with me.
If your phone is rooted, you can install xposed and module CustomShare to solve this issue.
Having the same issue here.
Try App Picker Classic, which does not require root.
My S6 Edge is the first Android I've had that I have not tried to root...and I've had a few.
..and this was an easy fix.
I wish Samsung had not changed the Default app selection behavior.
The nice thing about App Picker Classic is that if you don't like it, you aren't tied to it.
I like being able to select which app to use under certain circumstances...especially link sharing.
The only adjustment I found was that I had to go back into the phone's Default settings and specify my browser again. (Somehow I mistakenly told App Picker Classic that I wanted to use it for hotlinks.)

Sideloading apps on gear fit 2 ?

Does anyone know how to sideload apps on the gear fit 2?
There's an option in the gear app to accept install of apps from unknown sources, so I'm assuming this will enable us to sideload apps (same as on android)
Have anyone been able to extract apps from their gear fit 2?
I'm just assuming tizen is similar enough to android that we should be able to extract apps from it.. Has anybody been able to extract an installed app?
Not sure if it's possible, but if you go into Settings > Gear Info > About Device and tap 5 times on the software version you get a prompt for a PIN code on a blue keyboard - maybe you can enable addition debug features there? I assume this is for entering service codes, haven't tried any known Samsung ones yet.
I was playing with the ones at the store, I noticed they have a different model number SM-R360X and also have the ability to update via wifi (they have a newer firmware as well). My Fit2 can't take the update via the Samsung store (seems like a ton of people can't, given the 1/5 star rating), so I'm going to try and figure out how to switch it to that mode.
*Edit* Just found the original Fit had this too, this thread has some of the service codes: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2739949
Although don't do the test mode > dimming, you'll have to force reboot the band by holding the home button.
*Edit2*
Well then, apparently by entering the dimming mode and then holding home, it takes you to the band's recovery screen / bootloader. Options are:
Continue, Download, Download (Wireless), Factory Command, Recovery, PowerOff.
Playing with these, there seems to be quite a few stuff. Including having it service for a special Access Point.
Did anything more come of this?
Yes, it's possible to sideload apps. You can use the Smart Development Bridge (sdb) to connect to the gear fit 2 and install apps. You can also do it directly from Tizen Studio if you're making your own app for it.
I haven't been able to get privileges to extract apps, although I haven't tried very hard.
See https://developer.tizen.org/development/tizen-studio/web-tools/running-and-testing-your-app/sdb
Does anyone have any links to apps actually worth sideloading?
