Does anyone know how to sideload apps on the gear fit 2?
There's an option in the gear app to accept install of apps from unknown sources, so I'm assuming this will enable us to sideload apps (same as on android)
Have anyone been able to extract apps from their gear fit 2?
I'm just assuming tizen is similar enough to android that we should be able to extract apps from it.. Has anybody been able to extract an installed app?
Not sure if it's possible, but if you go into Settings > Gear Info > About Device and tap 5 times on the software version you get a prompt for a PIN code on a blue keyboard - maybe you can enable addition debug features there? I assume this is for entering service codes, haven't tried any known Samsung ones yet.
I was playing with the ones at the store, I noticed they have a different model number SM-R360X and also have the ability to update via wifi (they have a newer firmware as well). My Fit2 can't take the update via the Samsung store (seems like a ton of people can't, given the 1/5 star rating), so I'm going to try and figure out how to switch it to that mode.
*Edit* Just found the original Fit had this too, this thread has some of the service codes: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2739949
Although don't do the test mode > dimming, you'll have to force reboot the band by holding the home button.
*Edit2*
Well then, apparently by entering the dimming mode and then holding home, it takes you to the band's recovery screen / bootloader. Options are:
Continue, Download, Download (Wireless), Factory Command, Recovery, PowerOff.
Playing with these, there seems to be quite a few stuff. Including having it service for a special Access Point.
Did anything more come of this?
Yes, it's possible to sideload apps. You can use the Smart Development Bridge (sdb) to connect to the gear fit 2 and install apps. You can also do it directly from Tizen Studio if you're making your own app for it.
I haven't been able to get privileges to extract apps, although I haven't tried very hard.
See https://developer.tizen.org/development/tizen-studio/web-tools/running-and-testing-your-app/sdb
Does anyone have any links to apps actually worth sideloading?

After having issues after updating gear s and gear mgr using my tmobile note 4 I decided to share my fix which have been so far the solution. Problems that I encountered were : . Apps would no longer install via gear manager giving radom error codes like -122 try later, wo:wo2, no connection retry. Gear s would not auto reconnect to bluetooth after entering remote connection, and a series of random glitches.
My fix worked after doing these EXACT steps. Power off gear s and then hold power button till you see words rebooting then press home button repeadily till you see small menu and click home button to recovery and long press home. Device will now factory reset with new update configuration applied. Do not do this in the gear s os but as described above. NEXT go to gear manager in mobile device and select gear apps and then click purchased apps. Click the all button and then hit the delete icon and check ALL apps and remove, this is very important. Finally uninstall gear manager in app drawer . Next go into android settings on mobile and go to accounts and select Samsung and click the sync menu, in 3 dot menu select remove account.
Next this is very important, go to app manager and find Samsung Galaxy apps store in the all tab and clear data then uninstall the updates tab to basic stock. Next find Samsung apps purchase apk in all and delete data and unistall. OK now pull battery for 10 sec. If you have a stock based custom rom enter the custom recovery (twrp or what you use) and wipe dalv. and cache 3 times and then go to advanced and click fix permissions. Reboot device and open galaxy apps store and update it. Next turn gear s off then on then go to mobile device Samsung app store and install gear manager and pair gear s again. Gear manager may say installing additional software multiple times but keep opening it if it closes. Proceed to install as usual.
This seems repetitive but I tested it over and over and this will work. I suspect that some of the app data saved in the purchases tab may have been interfering with new gear s os. Idea behind this fix is to completely get rid of all data and cloud data trying to reapply. As this update is in preparation of good Ole lollipop the transition was anything but smooth. Hope this helps those who getting fed up with update issues!!!!

Finally I found a way to bypass the restriction method and play video while driving
anyone following these steps it total by his/her own risk and I'm not responsible to any issue might happen as I'm doing this for research purposes. for me it is working each time I'm doing it
1. Push your ignite button twice so you not be in accessory mode
2. Hold Bright power and menu until you see two choice click on the button on
3. Hold menu to get to another menu
4. Choose vehicle model information then vehicle setting type and you will see three types
TBAA:Gr013 DA KC No 4DR
TBAA:Gr013 DA KA No 4DR (this is the default one)
TBAA:Gr013 DA Kx No 4DR
you will choose
TBAA:Gr013 DA KC No 4DR (you need to make sure you are in empty space area as the GPS need to be locked after rebooting and also make sure you are not in accessory mode)
5. After the device reboot hold bright power and menu again and choose functional setup and then other
6. You will see operation restricted turn it off
7. Also enable Pandora and then back to home menu
8. Now you have system that can be modified couple things while driving not like before like you can use the dial pad
9. Now phase two to watch videos
10. open the browser and type about:debug
11. then delete it and type file:/// and hit enter
12. you will see the file system files, scroll down and click on vendor then app folder
13. scroll down and you find whitelistservice apk file
14. NEVER NEVER NEVER click on any APK only whitelistservice apk (I WARN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
15. click on it and it will try to install then it fail
16. then back to the home screen and hold power till it asking for reboot. reboot your system and viola you can run browser and gallery to browse , watch you tube or videos
Might you need to turn off your lane camera as when ever you right signal it will stop your video
issues you may get with this method
App installer will not work
rear camera very rare can be delayed or lag
To revert the video thing then you need to setting then apps download section and you will see the white list service there then just uninstall it and you back to normal.. if it acting weird just reboot the unit
Now to things I figured it out
Any apk files that are android system files from version 4.2.2 it will fail with signature different from the one installed
AHA APK can be update it will not working good as it not design for car ( I got it from internet)
apklist.apk from Honda pilot it willing to install but it fail because the version that we have is newer (at least mine as it update to latest android version f190)
Any app you click on it will show gray install button but if you multitask and go to the browser and browse the path /data/data/usbtmp then you will see the file there and that path can install apk but it will fail again. what ever you do the file will delete from there.. i tried to unplugged the fuse and the file stayed there so I tried the to do the whitelistservice.apk that we did above as this will stop the service from running but looks the package installer call whielistlib and the lib check the signature too.
I tried to plug USB serial as I can see in the log android loading PL32XX driver and i change the USB from HOST to DEVICE from the hidden menu i got an Ethernet connection from the USB and I can see the internal sdcard not the system as it is MTP I think.
Rebooting the device and holding menu will get you in safe mode but it didn't help anything
Honda link when enabled it will open another port other than the 5000 (random) when you nmap for the HU IP
Tried most exploits on browser didn't work
Modified APK didn't working
I would we all work together and break the APK installing process.

I have a 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring (automatic) and the safety "features" lock me out of being able to adjust sound settings, or enter Nav addresses, when the car is moving. Do you have a fix for this? Most important is the sound settings as I can get around the Nav issue by using voice commands. There are no such commands for the sound settings.
I was able to dig into the "secret" menus and found this under "Vehicle Model Information"
Android Auto Drive Level(drive) no video playback allowed/no text input allowed/no setup/configuration allowed/limit displayed message length
Hello!
I've recently purchased what I thought was a feature phone with long battery life, the Vodafone Smart A9 (VFD 120) for the purpose of putting my "home" SIM card in while I travel. Surprisingly, this phone actually runs Android! Albeit a very locked down version of Android without Google Play Services. In hindsight I probably should've purchased a different cheap phone and turned off data and location to get a similarly long battery life, at the time the price of $49NZD ($32USD) didn't seem like a bad idea. For the sake of interest I decided to try and sideload an application onto this phone, it seems like a decent companion to take hiking as I lost my last phone off the side of a mountain.
I've tried a few things to sideload an app or gain some sort of privileged access to the phone. I haven't really been up to date with the Android Hacking/Dev scene in a good while as my personal need to root has diminished greatly in the last few years.
Things I've tried:
Enable ADB in Developer Mode by pressing Build Version a bunch of times. Unfortunately pressing Build Version does nothing.
Look for settings to enable applications from other sources. This doesn't exist in the security settings.
Tried installing an app from the file manager. This doesn't work either.
Boot into recovery to do "anything". The phone shows up in ADB as "Unauthorised". There aren't any settings except a bunch of hardware tests and factory reset.
The device only has OTA updates but I imagine that even if I grab the file and spoof the download URL with a modified ROM, it wouldn't pass a hash/signature check.
Is there anything else I could realistically try? I'd just like to know if I've missed anything glaringly obvious.
Thanks for taking a look at my post!
phone is now 13nzd from harvy norman did you ever work out a way to load apps
If Android device is Wi-Fi enabled and has browser installed, you at any time can install an app from one of the several existing app markets: Google Play Store isn't the only one though it's highly recommended to use it due to security reasons.
Hi I was wondering if You could tell me how to boot into Recovery mode for this phone.
Hi guys,
just switched from the Note 9 with latest Android version to the S10. Both are running well with the DeX Station and DeX Pad.
I restored all my apps through Play Store & Samsung Cloud.
But when I now try to start some apps, an error message appears: app can not started in DeX mode -try phone mode
I've currently tested VNC Viewer, LastPass and 1Password -and a lot of other apps are running in a non-resizeable window. I tried DeX hub, DeX dev mode - same issue.
What the hell have has Samsung changed with the S10 bloatware?
Any hints?
Thanks
stef
Haven't gotten around to messing with dex yet but try this.
Go to developer options, scroll to the very bottom, then turn on "Force activities to be resizable"
Just in case you don't know how to enable developer options, go to settings > about phone > software information and tap build number repeatedly until the toast says developer options has been enabled. Once it's enabled it'll be at the bottom of settings below about phone.
Hmmm, Samsung has aired an update a few minutes ago, which forced a restart of my phone.
Whatever it was, the issues are gone and the apps are now working as expected.

Many thanks. I already did this based on the hints in the Dex Hub app, but with no success.
Maybe I haven't restarted the phone twice to force the settings before...

hello i have google pixel 6 how can i uninstall it in demo mode
I don't know about the Pixel 6. But my daily was an old Verizon display Pixel 2 XL. I was able to do a factory reset from recovery and it just reset to regular android. It seems like the phone was a retail unit Verizon configured after setup.
The phone resets itself after 2 hours. There is a solution by skipping, but even the oem lock is passive. How can I get rid of it completely? I did a factory reset but it didn't go. Is it possible to completely delete and install anldrodi?

I responded to this in the thread you made regarding your device. But, I don't think you're going to like it.
Hello,
I had posted here some time ago and I finally found a solution to use a pixel 6 in retail mode, after the December 2022 update.
For my case, the factory reset doesn't change anything and the oem is disabled. So I found another solution not as clean but 100% functional:
1. Reset your phone without activating internet.
2. Go to the list of applications and go to the 3 dots at the top right and then "Show system processes". Search for "Google Play Services" and deactivate.
You will receive a lot of notifications asking you to reactivate it's normal. At this point we block the auto reset control but we don't have Google services anymore.
3. Activate your SIM card and your wifi
4. Go to settings, system, multiple users, add a secondary profile and log in on it.
5. That's it, the main account blocks auto reset and you can use 100% Google services.
Advantages of this solution:
100% functional with Google services.
Disadvantages:
- You have to log in to the secondary account every time you start up
- I guess having two user profiles open, it requires a bit more battery.
It worked for me I hope for you too.
