I don't get what all the hype is surround Philz-CWM6 kernel anything that is even remotely related to it doesn't seem to work. His 4.00B21+22 just don't seem to boot at all, I have to go back into recovery and flash another kernel before it does anything.
Siyah 6.0b4 will boot but doesn't seem to have a working home button.
I can't seem to find the latest CM10.1 Kernel for 4.2.1 roms. I've currently got LS8 modem.
I have no problems with DorimanX I just don't find it a very good Kernel, not very power efficient, don't get me wrong it's fast, but I want my battery to last.
Okay, so what is your question? You name a couple of kernels that don't work for you without telling which rom(s) you run. If all these kernels seem to fail in almost everything I think you'll have to start thinking about you yourself do something wrong, because of course nobody would use and praise a kernel if it doesn't boot.
Sent from the Matrix
I have tried a few roms, I was a long term fan of Rootbox until they removed the DPI Changer, I had tried 3.2 & 3.5, I've also tried stock CM10.1, Paranoid Android 2.99 and a few others that I now can't remember.
My question should have been more to the point, what the bloody hell am I doing wrong? I've been testing a few roms because I'd like to find one that I'm happy with for performance, customizability and battery life, I know it's never going to be a perfect balance, but that's why I'm testing so much.
I've been doing clean installs for all of them, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, format system, install rom, install gapps, kernel cleaning script, new kernel, boot.
Ironically after stating in my OP that I couldn't find the CM10.1 kernel, I have just come across one, I just find that they have the best performance, I don't like the stupid complexity of Siyah 6+ and DorimanX, there's too many options that I have no idea what they do and I feel just aren't needed.
Oh yes. Siyah & Dorimanx are stupid because some n00b in Q&A says so You crap on about how much you want to customise, yet you want to run a 'vanilla' CM kernel which offers nothing of the sort compared to those two.
But, eh, whatever works for you.
Edit - Donnie, don't waste your time. OP obviously knows best.
Hi. I've got a challenge for the experts
I have a galaxy s4 (i9505) and currently on cyanogenmod 11-20140414-nightly so its running on 4.4.2
The minute i got my phone, i put foxhound rom and was on4.2.2 that time and everything was fine. It was about june last year. A couple of weeks ago, i decided to have a go at other roms or update to 4.4.2 so i tried foxhound rom that ran on4.4.2. This is when the problems started. The first problem was the signal was greatly affected that i could not get any signal indoors. So i tried several other roms like omega rom, cyanogenmod, wanamlite, wicked, virgin rom and several others but none of them perfectly worked. I always cleared cache and restore factory settings but still there were problems. On some roms the camera wont work as if there is another app using it. On others, i cant get any signal even though im in an area where i used to get strong signals. Another big problem is that i cant make a call! The screen goes black and can't do anything until the call gets disconnected. I can't use voice services like skype, ym, everything that uses the mic as if there is an app or service using it. When i put the jack to use the headset, i dont get the notification that im on headset unlike before.
So i decided to use stock rom on 4.3. Now i have even bigger problems. In addition to the previous problems stated, the wifi won't turn on but i can get a signal outside. Even though i have already removed the microsd card and wiped cache and restore to factory settings, the phone still says that the device was modified so i can't really return it even though it is still under warranty.
So now i decided to root it again and temporarily use cyanogenmod since the wifi works, texts and the internet works.
Btw, youtube doesnt work also. It doesnt play.
Sorry for the vrry long post but i just want to give much info as possible..
Thanks so much

So, which type of rom do you want to be on, assuming most of the things work properly? I don't want to try to address all those issues because there are different ones for the different setups and would take forever. Most likely signal issues are from not using a matched modem with the firmware / rom you are running. Do you know the original carrier / region the phone is from so we can make sure you get the right stuff installed?
Please provide details on the the currently installed baseband version. Also, what is the last official version of Samsung's software that you installed via Odin or OTA (not via custom rom)?

Thanks for your reply.
The current cyanogenmod is fine although i prefer the virgin rom. but i can go back to virgin once the problems have been rectified.
I agree that the signal issue has something to do with the modem so i tried different modems using odin but the XXUBMEA wouldnt change despite trying several modems and several times.
The phone is on three network (uk) with its current baseband 19505XXUBMEA.
The official rom i tried was on 4.3 and kies said it was the latest
Thanks again
Alright, I'm with ya so far. I'll look into the rom situation when I get back in front of the PC, but the trick with updating the modem is you gotta flash it twice in a row before you reboot unless you flash official firmware.

What i havent actually tried (which i'm reading at the moment) is the formatting of data under the advanced options on twrp. I dunno if it will make a difference say i try a new rom. I don't mind trying and starting from scratch. Like format data then install a new rom. Do u think this will make a difference? (will this be similar to formatting a dard drive on a pc before installing windows?)
What i suspect is there is nothing wrong with the roms i've tried but something in the installation got messed up and remains there even after wiping the data.
I think i have tried doing it twice only to find out that it didnt change the modem despite odin saying pass.
Should i format data then install a fresh rom?
Hard
but challeng refused
Ok, so there is something odd here. If you had flashed the official 4.3 via Odin, your modem would have changed to a newer one. The one you have is still a 4.2.2 one. Or were you referring to the last stock rom that you loaded with a custom recovery? Also, which recovery are you using?
Try this modem via Odin:
http://d-h.st/Kwv
Install Guide:
Use Odin v3.04
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Vol Down plus Home button combi)
Flash Modem once more
Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.
Reference thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025
Let's see if that doesn't help anything and go from there.
If you have issues with wifi, there is a wifi fix to be had in the reference thread. Remember to flash that through the Phone slot if needed.
thanks again.
i can't exactly remember what modem i had when i flashed it with the official 4.3 using odin. but my guess would be the XXUBMEA. most of the custom roms i've tried had this modem anyway. some had no problems with 3g signal.
i am using twrp.
i don't want to play around with the modem yet as the 3g and wifi signals are working fine on cyanogenmod. its the call and video that's not working that i want to sort out.
do u think if i reflash by formatting data would clear out the problems i specified earlier? i don't mind trying this if u think it will make a difference.. tthanks.

The custom roms you've been using don't install a modem with them, so that would be why you've been on the same one for a bit. Often times the stock rom is a little more picky about which modem it likes best, though this varies by phone and update. What call issues are you having? There were so many issues listed for various things on the first post that I had trouble sorting which problem for which rom (not criticizing, just making sure we're on the same page). And as far as videos go, is it just YouTube that isn't working right or any type of video playback? If it is just YouTube - is it force closing, not loading searches or videos, or some other problem?

thanks again for your interest.
the issue about the modem is somehow clear. thanks for clearing that up.
i think it is better to tackle the problems i have in my current setup rather than the previous problems. so, as previously mentioned, i am on cyanogenmod 11 (on 4.4.2). here are some of the problems i am aware of or rather, those that i have experienced:
1. calls - whenever i dial a number, the screen goes black as if the phone is next to my ear (could there be something wrong with the proximity sensor? i haven't done anything to rectify this yet though. when this happens, i can't do anything as the seems to hang although i could see the call timer working. during that call however, i can't hear a sound nor the person i just rang. same thing happens when someone calls me. my phone vibrates (because there is another problem with the sound which i will discuss next) and when i answer it, i hear no sound and the screen goes black and i couldn't do anything with the phone. i have to wait till the caller disconnects before the phone becomes useable again.
i tried calling using viber and the same thing happens.
2. sound - phone is muted even though all the volume controls are midway or almost 100%. i tried changing the ringing tone but i don't hear any sound at all. normally, when i switch to a different ringtone, it should give me a preview of what the chosen sound is like.
3. videos - it doesn't work. when i go to youtube, it opens up the site, opens the selected youtube clip, tries to play it but pauses then tries to play again then pauses until i get a message saying "there was a problem while playing. touch to retry."
so far these are the problems i have faced.
sorry for the long post again.
Hmm. Seems weird that you are having so many issues that most others aren't having, at least not since some of the earlier builds. During the install of CM, did you wipe /system? If not, I definitely would just start fresh. Install the most up to date modem. Wipe everything (system, data, cache, dalvik). Use the most up to date CWM (I like TWRP most of the time, but since CM says you should try CWM before reporting issues, it's one of those things...) Some Samsung proximity sensors aren't that accurate and really don't work well with CM. Other users reported that issue i the main CM thread for your phone, but was definitely not prevalent. I had a Samsung phone that I couldn't use a tempered glass screen protector with as they had an app to install to test to see how sensitive it was and mine didn't pass the test, though it worked for everything else.
As far as the video bug. It affected some earlier builds and other roms based off of CM but I hadn't seen anyone commenting about it for a bit so can't imagine it still being a common issue as that's a deal breaker for most. It might just be easier at this stage to either go back to stable CM 10.2 or try another rom altogether, such as Slim.

i know. i don't really want to blame these issues i've mentioned to the rom i am using or have tried. perhaps there was something i did not do or overdid that messed it all up. the cynagenmod 10 (the stable version for my s4 model) had similar issues as the cm11. so i suspect the problem i've created still lingers within my phone that messes up a lot of things.
during installation, i did wipe the system, data, cache and dalvik which i found in the advanced menu.
the thing is, everything else worked fine when i was on 4.2.2 (like the proximity sensors, videos, sounds, etc) so as i said earlier, i don't want to blame it on the roms.
i might have another go on the slim rom tonight but use CWM instead of TWRP.
thanks again for your interest and help

Do you have a screen protector or anything like that? Sometimes if it isn't laying on the screen right or dirt gets around it, it can cause issues. There's also a way to pop out the actual proximity sensor and clean between the part and the little piece of clear glass on the back of the front piece of glass that can help too if it ends up being hardware related.

I put the screen protector when i got the phone and i don't see any visible dirt so i wouldn't want to blame it either. Although i did read about the screen protectors causing problems. But the thing is, even youtube or any videos do not play. Even any sound.
I've tried the slimkat rom by following the developers' instructions and still no youtube, no sound, can't make a call as i can't hear the person i'm calling nor can that person hear me.
Any other suggestions on what to do? I don't mind going back to stock as long as i get all the features back. I went to official 4.3 before but had more severe issues. Or perhaps i did it wrong?
Thanks..
Videos are another issue, but I still think the call problems and such are modem related. What I would do would be to wipe everything, then use Odin to install official Kit Kat, then test this stuff out and see if it works. If so, then you can do a nandroid and redo recovery and try the roms again, then if they still have that issue then your phone just doesn't cooperate with CM roms or something weird like that. If it doesn't work even after official 4.4.2, then there's probably something else going on, possibly hardware related.

Thanks.
Got hold of the official 4.4.2 and flashed it via odin. Failed. But tried again and now working fine. Sound is back, video is back as well as calls. Just the annoying google search failing all the time.
The baseband it has is I9505XXUFNC9. i didn't install any modem in odin though. Just flashed in the pda section the tar file
Now i don't know whether to root this again and try custom roms or leave it as it is. I saw knox by the way but haven't installed it. Or is it pre installed? I have little knowledge about knox
Hey guys,
I just got a few questions with this,
Will i lose my apps, theme and such when installing only a ROOT?
Also what do you guys prefer as ROOT method goes, Chainfire and Odin?
I've seen a ROOT BAT program a while ago that realy did everything for you, i just can't remember the name at the moment...
With that i would also like to ask what happens if i update my device? Will i still be able to update it when Samsung pushes a new update ?
Would i need a custom flash recovery? I used to have a phone wich i did it on, But as this is more of my expensiver phone i aint looking to realy risk it. and due all my apps info etc, has well over 150 apps.
Thanks everybody
Bump,
Sorry if nagging but i'm kinda in a rush, if anyone could help me a little?
I basicly know how you most likely root and stuff, just wanna be sure about a few things and what program/apk is best to get into the S3 at 4.3 firmware

You'll lost Samsung warranty (no more assistance support, excluded mine and use for software problems [emoji6]), update check and the access to some proprietary apps (You shouldn't be able to download/update from Galaxy Apps).
Normally when you root the device, a CWM custom recovery is included, otherwise you can simply flash via Odin the excellent Philz Recovery, so you'll be able to flash a new Samsung-based rom (ARHD, ArchiPort, Omega, Imperium... aborting the limited stock) or try the greatful AOSP roms (CyanogenMod, Omnirom, PacRom, etc.).
Also custom kernels (BOEFFLA, Googy Max, ArchiKernel and some others, I prevent to cite you outdated ones) and mods (everything!).

Highly recommended, as I said you need this to install a new rom and any other zip file.
For the rest... I haven't understood you.

Well i would only be intrested in ROOT if i can keep all of my files, apps, widgets and such,
I would have done a new ROM if i wouldnt have had so many apps, it would take hours if not days to get everything back as it used to be would be a rather pain in the ***.

My same problem: too many apps to be restored.
With MyBackupsPRO, the only working without root permissions, you can only keep some settings, contacts, SMS and MMS, then all your apps and games... but without any relative data.
Because as I said you're on an unrooted/official system.
I think you are using an external SD for documents and multimedia files, when you run the first start of your custom rom (highly recommend for the updates, instead the limited stock), be sure that the "Restore data from Google" option is checked.
A discrete help for you, better than nothing.
You have to think that when you did root, backups will be complete, via the greatful Titanium Backup or via recovery with Nandroid backup (my words should be useless if you already have experience with an old device).
Good hacking
As Samsung-based roms I suggest you Android Revolution HD 4.3 or ArchiPort to get the new and officially unsupported 4.4 system.
Pro:
-Compatibility with other Samsung devices;
-Much better camera stabilization than AOSP roms.
Con:
-Touchwiz is heavy for RAM memory and CPU performance;
-Many AOSP functions are completely removed or altered.
As AOSP rom I suggest you CyanogenMod 11, the M builds to have a more stable system, the nightlies for daily updates and less (but always enough) stability.
Pro:
-Latest updates daily/monthly available;
-Many features, AOSP and Cyanogen specific;
-Fully configurable, launcher can be completely replaced, at opposite of Samsung-based roms;
-Greater performance than Samsung-based roms.
Con:
-Some little bug;
-Poor compatibility with Samsung devices and proprietary apps.
As custom kernel, no better one than BOEFFLA: obviously OC and UV support, then lots of functions such "Touch to Wake", a great audio engine, zRAM support, a rich choice of governors and schedulers... it's available for Samsung and many AOSP roms.

Thanks for the great help,
I aint realy sure yet realy,
But isnt there a way you can simple backup almost everything with the PC?
I thought that was faster, then root it and get those back up on the phone with the PC?
Youve made me thinking realy as my phone was getting slower, Samsung OS isnt that great quiet slow indeed,
I might just drop a few games i dont play realy, so i can get my faster phone back as it used to be.
I used to love tweaking my phone realy, till it broke due rain, was a quiet cheap phone 150e or so.
Do you mind giving your SKYPE or Steam? so i could ask you there, Its been 2 years when i did this, some are kinda floating around in my head but i just cant remember it all anymore.

This is what i meant, Its simple and all in 1, just aint sure if its still up to date?
Via ADT Development Tool, you can do the "adb backup" command, but I think it will include the bootloader, so you'll restore the official and unrooted device state.
But I'm not sure, I never used to backup via PC.
Games are almost innocue, except for notification services who consume a bit of resources.
Can you tell me the heavier apps you're using?
According to your words, having too many apps you're not very satisfied about your performance... or I'm wrong?

Ye it used to be quiet a bit faster, Might be Samsung OS i forgot the name of the OS but anyhow, wizard or something,
Oh well, i will just do it i guess and i will see on the road what apps i need, the rest clearly seems that i dont need em if i never use em.
I'm guessing that the best would be Clockwork recovery and the SUroot? together with cyanogen ROM and buffalo.
As apps goes its basicly my home screen wich has quiet some widgets and such, all diffrent apps, in some folders like 100 apps etc.

SuperSU is included in CF-Root and so is the most known, but Superuser (from Clockworkmod, the other Superuser is obsolete!) is a great open source alternative.
The best recovery is Philz, always based on CWM, but with extra and TWRP functions.
CyanogenMod yes, is the better choicr and also the easiest choice for root newbies.
Ps Buffalo is a kernel? If it's true, try BOEFFLA, is considered absolutely the best.

Now SuperSU, i might get a ROM but aint sure yet, Do kernels work on the stock rom aswell?

Yes, BOEFFLA works also on stock rom (make sure to flash the correct zip file)... but I haven't understood your problem: can't reboot, old recovery back... what?

Ye nevermind that,
The problem is when i flashed my recovery, that when i reboot it switched automaticly back to the orginal stock recovery,
Only way to repair this was to not reboot, but goto the Philz recovery directly and reinstall the recovery program,
Also rooted it now,
So i can simple install Boefflo on my S3 international, With stock rom and ROOT, philz recovery?
If so that would be sweet ^^
As it should be more sufficient as far as battery goes, and a small overclock to like 1.6Ghz is reasonable ive heard,
1.8 is to high if i can believe those on some forums.
Since the last stable release you can overclock up to 1704 Mhz... and no more 1.5 Ghz step, I don't know the reason.
As I said, BOEFFLA works almost on every rom, but you habe to flash a different zip file for Samsung and AOSP roms.
Why can't you get a custom recovery? Are you sure to flash them reproducing properly the reported Odin guide (what to check in app, where to write file, etc.)?
It's a strange problem, rom "might" be cause by replacing the new recovery with the stock one, I think, but I'm not absolutely sure.

Well like i said i've fixed that,
The standard way to flash doesnt work, As once i get booted in Samsung ROM, It fixes it, So you have to goto your Recovery immeaditly when youve flashed it, and flash it again in the custom recovery, and then it does work.
Well i will see, aint sure yet if i will do it the kernel and romming.
Thanks for the help

Wow Los has finally arrived for the Jewel but my Jewel is no longer with me
I can't seems to use external sdcard as internal there's simply no option to do it while formatting. Other then this it's pretty snappy thanks again.

Thanks for testing! Try the new Nougat build—I wasn't able to move apps onto the SD card (that is a LineageOS bug), but I was able to format it as internal storage.
I couldn't install the latest build 14.1 well just keeps bootlooping at the HTC screen.
Wipe
Install latest build
Install Gapps 7.1 (tried without installing this also) still no go ?

There appears to be an error in the build. I will upload a new build within a day.
Edit: New build has been uploaded! Please report if it works.
Never thought my Jewel would ever see Nougat (let alone Lollipop or Marshmallow). Just flashed and all is working well so far. Awesome work!
God tier work here, I'm blown away. I misplaced my Moto G 3rd gen somewhere in my apartment, so I've given up and dusted off my Evo. I was set to just use the Viper 4.1.1 that was on there, but some apps weren't installing so I came on ol' XDA. This is much more than I expected, thank you.
With that said, any tips on getting this to activate on Sprint / Ting? It was working fine on the old rom, but not kicking in here.
I know this isn't totally related to this ROM, but maybe it can be. I'm having issue with this (and most other ROMs I try) where the per button works physically, but only the buttons light up. I have to press the power button several times to get the screen to wake. This isn't consistent though. Seems worse if the screen has been off for a while. Does anyone know of a fix, and if so, can it be incorporated into this ROM? I know there have other threads about this but it seems like they have been dropped.

I believe that the service must be activated on a stock ROM before flashing a custom ROM. Then, the correct APN has to be set according to the carrier under Settings > More > Cellular networks > Access Point Names.

I am not sure of a fix, and I have not encountered this issue, but have you tried enabling Wake device using the Camera button under Settings > Buttons?

I've tried that in the past. Forgot about it this time around. Tried it again and it seems to be about the same as the actual power button for getting the screen to come on correctly.
Good ol' Jewel. Is this rom working ok?
My wife is temporarily using my old Jewel because she dropped & broke her crappy samsung phone. can someone please tell me how this rom is working?
I appreciate your time!

The ROM is working fine for the most part. The battery is not great, but that may be due to the battery's age. Additionally, there is a bug with BoringSSL that sometimes prevents the Play Store or Gmail from working temporarily.
sounds good. yeah, I'm sure it's age. thanks man. take care-
Trouble with WiFi
Did a Full factory reset, installed rom, gapps, and supersu from TWRP, factory wipe again from TWRP; now the OS is installed and running but after connecting to my home network, says no internet access although the netork is up and running normally, all other devices connected. Any thoughts or suggestions. I have a backup of my previous state, so I can revert, but would like to keep this on 7.1 for consistency between this and my primary device. The primary use for this device is media streaming.

I believe that the WiFi issue have been fixed in the latest build (20170522).
Thank you for this rom!
I had been using cyanogenmod 5.0 and dirtyunicorns 5.1 both were solid roms. Unfortunately the latest apps seem to run a bit slow on them. I thought it was the device but after installing this rom everything is snappy! It manages 1gig of ram better than any other rom and that 1.5ghz dualcore still runs strong. Snapchat is way more responsive on this rom, instagram and fb run without problems. GPS, 4g, sms, wifi, camera, sd storage, everything works! I've only noticed a few bugs. The wifi activity arrows don't show when something is downloading/uploading but wifi itself does work. Also, even tho I have working active cell service, it tries to activate itself again everytime I reboot and fails but calls-sms-data continue to work lol. The biggest bug is that auto-rotation stops working after 30-60 minutes and it stays stuck on portrait mode. Nothing but a full reboot will get it working again, a quick softboot won't fix it. I've tried changing the rotation settings and also added some lines to the build.prop but no solution thus far. I love this rom so much, if it's not fixed I might try some auto rotation apps. One last thing, it would be cool if the # in the status bar would go away after I close whatever app has root. The previous rom I had did that. Thank you so much to all the developers for bringing life to this phone!

Thanks for trying out the ROM! The WiFi activity arrows are intentionally disable on LineageOS. I do not currently have an active cell service on this device, so I am unable to fix the activation bug for now. Could you flash the patch below in recovery and test if autorotation is working properly? It should also enable the option to hide the Superuser icon under "Status bar" > "System icons".
Build in the works. Going to release the BETA as soon as I can do testing on my own device before release.
IMO this is a necessity as there are literally no good roms for this right now. I tried the port of the Nexus stock CR rom and it was not great. Playstore was unusable due to an issue were the app thinks the system is out of storage space, even though it is almost empty. Chrome crashes instantly, the search on the page home screen flickers up/down without control.
I am a far bigger fan of LineageOS thus why I am working on this build.
More to come.

As a follow up to my original post I wanted to mention that for anyone who wants a new ROM on their SM-T290 until this is finished development, use the Nexus Rom by Magendanz. I was able to do a fresh stock firmware install and retry the rom and my opinion has changed. I have noticed that these Tab A 8.0 tablets have been used a lot for like Uber/Door Dash and other POS terminals. I am pretty sure a lot of them have modified or customized firmware for these reasons and when I mine second hand it was from a pizza store. I think that messed up the upgrade.
Overall Magendanz did a great job, when you install it properly. I have zero issues with functionality now, TWRP recovery set up, as well as Magisk installed and everything is running extremely well.
As far as instruction on how to install. Take a look at some of the comments further down on the Nexus thread. That is what I did this time around and it worked perfectly. Last thing I did was copy Magisk.Apk to my SD, change extension from .APK to .ZIP, then boot into TWRP and install that ZIP.
Going to update progression on a monthly basis as far as the LineageOS 18.0 build

Do you have a github with your source code and manifest? I just got this tablet (used) yesterday and I would like to see if I can help. I have built LineageOS roms for a number of older Samsung Tab A devices, but will have to do some research on the "new to me" T290. Thanks.
Just got this tablet, how's the beta coming along? And what can I do to help?
Thank you my guy I had lost all hope for custom roms on this tablet. It's quite relieving to know that I'm not alone.
Also, has anyone experienced severe lag on one ui 3 while doing basic tasks? The thing literally gets 5 fps while watching youtube and surfing the web but it plays 3d games at 20 fps on low settings. wtf

Hey Guys,
I didnt end up building a custom rom, because I was able to get the GSI version of Lineage 19 working fairly easily. Just use the correct image and flash the same as the Nexus post. Android 12 with Lineage 19 so i felt it wasnt worth it as everything works. I had trouble at first with a boot loop but that was because I had installed Magisk BEFORE the GSI rom and not AFTER. So dont make my mistake.
As per the Nexus Post;
Unlock Bootloader
flash TWRP
Wipe data
Install Andy Yan's Lineage OS 19 GSI
Andy Yan's personal builds // GSI - Browse /lineage-19.x at SourceForge.net
sourceforge.net
Install Magisk
Reboot
Cheers!

lineage-19.0-20220211-UNOFFICIAL-treble_arm64_bgS.img.xz
It has Gapps built in as well as super user through SSH, dont install Magisk as it will error that there is already SU tool installed.
@SniperFox22 , did you make a github for the code or didn't even start since you are happy with GSI?

My OS didn't have an option to unzip it at first glance. I haven't been able to install gapps so I'm gonna try that gsi. Also, am I supposed to wipe internal storage before flashing or not?
I got it working but games just crash which is worse than before
Came across this while trying to root my sm-t290. Just want to add that Andy Yan has upgraded to a 19.1 version that appears to work just fine. Flashed to system partition using twrp after I had flashed the Nexus rom. Wifi works, sound works, sd card, bluetooth keyboard works just fine.

Link to it???
I like the link above because it has all the versions but lineage-19.1-20220320-UNOFFICIAL-arm64_bgS.img.xz is the one that I used. The page has the naming convention. Ill mention that even though it says that it's supposed to be rooted, I couldn't get it to work right. The nexus rom had an option in the 'phh treble' menu to activate root and this lineage image should also but the option wasn't there. It kept saying the supersu binary was busy but that was after I flashed a supersu.zip(it may have worked before then i don't know). I played with it a little bit but ended up just flashing back to the Nexus rom.
Hey guys!
Installed "lineage-19.1-20220320-UNOFFICIAL-arm64_bgS.img"
Everything starts up, but something is weird with my installation and my storage, it freezes when i go into storage and i cant download anything without apps start to crash.
Im not sure if i flashed it correctly, i did a wipe in TWRP before installation.
Really hope i can get this to work since it waaaaay faster then the bloat samsung ships
Edit:
Tried flashing another rom (nexus) and had the same issue!
trying to reflash and wipe everything except internal storage.
Where should i flash image? i get: "select partition to flash image", never seen that before (might be because you flash img and not zip)
