Hi,
I have always used CleanRoms on my S4 up until they stopped making them. I've been using the last version they released (1.6.5) with no issues.
I prefer a stock debloated rom that just works. I don't care much about fancy options. My current baseline version is I545VRUEMJ7. I did upgrade my modem a few weeks ago. I'm also using TWRP for recovery.
I'm looking for a rom that is like clean. Basically a debloated stock rom that just works. Something like what CleanRom was. I see all these roms have do's and dont's and I don't want to do one of the dont's.
My only needs are:
Debloated, with root so I can use it as a hotspot.
What do you suggest?
Thanks for any input.
Thanks

so you were MDK and loki'd then?
as for ROMS, goes back to preferences of what you want. Mnay good ones out their that I have read about. Me, as I have a ME7 phone, been limited to TW stock based Roms I load thru safestrap. I have tried all that were available to me and have settled on Hyperdrive. Currently running 10.2 with hopes of moving to HD11 once safestrap is fully developed for that move.

I had tried 10.2 but had problems with the rom.
I believe I am MDK and loki'd.
I have an M7 HTC One Sprint that keeps bugging me to update it. I'm not sure how to safely do this without bricking it. It is encrypted and I cannot make backups using TWRP at present (I used to before it was encrypted).
Please can you suggest a good ROM or source for updating my phone/radio or whatever?
My current situation...
I have s-off and root
ROM is Stock w Goodies One 2.10
Android 4.3
Sense 5.0
Kernel 3.4.10-g18569d8
Baseband 1.00.20.0913_3
Build
3.04.651.2.CL251863
TWRP 2.6.3
It might work
Well if the update is official then it shouldn't have a problem.

hes using custom recovery, proably its that.
well get a stock recovery from a stock rooted one, install on your phone and try updating again. or search to see if anyone made a cwm/twrp flashable of it
Oh well sorry. I'm new at this but I want to try my best at helping others. Sorry
Okay so I've had the issue with sms on non sense 5 based roms before . I took the its to give it a shot and see if the new radio/firmware base would help. I'm still s-off, unlocked, supercid and have twrp. If I try and install any custom Rom it'll start then crash and say failed to write metadata. Is that due to it being the 4.4.2 firmware? And should I go back to 4.2.2 and try the New radio to see if sms works? Just curious cause I'd like to keep the 4.4.2 base if possible just wondering if anyone has had roms work

That error is due to using an old recovery that is not compatible with kitkat based rom installer scripts.
Update your recovery...
Okay I'm using the newest twrp beta right now.
So never mind. I must have not payed any attention when I reflashed recovery I put 2.6 not 2.7. Thank you though

So does SMS work now on a nonsense ROM?
Haha of course not. Lol I wish we had a way to get it to work
Does anyone have an idea. I'd love to run viper 3.5 it ran amazing and save with the nusense roms. But no sms I can't do

No. If you currently have that issue (like I do) updating to 4.09 does not fix it. At least for the Sense 6 rom I tested after updating. I haven't tested any of the custom 4.4.2 Sense 5.5 roms yet.
Yeah same here. I'm gonna try 5.5 ones today and report back
Hi guys,
I know with phones I've had in the past, we could flash roms from other carriers as long as we flashed a Kernel for the carrier you're currently on. Is this the case with our Sprint Note 3? There aren't a lot of roms available for our variant, so I was hoping to find more roms to experiment with, but don't want to mess anything up. Thanks in advance for your help.
First, what OS version do you have on your note 3. If you have updated to 4.4.2 NC5 you CANNOT downgrade to a older version of KK like NAB. Assuming you have, then you can only flash KK 4.4.2 based roms . I don't think you can flash roms from other carriers as the Basebands won't match.
EDIT here is some more info; ( Thanks topherk )
If you "dirty flash," there's no problem with that, just know that if you ever encounter an error, we will be unable to help you in any way.
You're right, cross-flashing might leave remnants (features) of the previous ROM, but there's no guarantee that they'll be utilized correctly or linked correctly to the system files. As far as I know, the "worst" thing that could happen by dirty flashing is an unrelenting boot-loop. In those cases, you should just do a full system wipe and re-install the ROM.
I recommend, as Micmars does, a full system wipe prior to installing any ROM, but to each their own.
Typically, ROMs do not install different modems. As far as the MJ4 vs. NAB vs. NC5, here's a little primer on the various versions:
MJ4
This was the last Jellybean TW released for the Sprint Note 3. If you are on MJ4, you'll have to update your bootloader to NAB (or NC5) in order to update to KitKat ROMs (and you can't go back). The
NAB
This is the first KitKat TW ROM for the Sprint Note 3. Once on NAB, you can't go back down to Jellybean (yet... some people are working on it). You need to be on the NAB or NC5 bootloader in order to flash these ROMs.
NC5
This is the second KitKat TW release for the Sprint Note 3. It introduced some updates to the system and it includes WiFi calling (I've never used it, but others say it's really nice). You can flash back and forth between NAB and NC5 ROMs as much as you want, without changing anything. You need to be on the NAB or NC5 bootloader in order to flash these ROMs.
As far as updating to NC5 ROMs, just look at the changelogs between the NAB and NC5 versions of the ROM. If the added/changed features look appealing to you (or it looks more stable), then by all means update.
As far as modems go, I always stick to the newest Modem, which always tend to work best for me (I'm in a large metropolitan area). Sometimes people will report that the older modems (MJ4 or NAB) work better in their area. The Modems are completely separate from the ROMs, so flashing an older (or newer) modem should not have any affect on the stability of the ROM. It's really up to you if you want to update it.
As far as bootloaders go, if you are already on KitKat ROMs, I'd recommend updating to the NC5 Engineering Bootloader, but as long as you're on NAB, you should be fine. Just make sure to read the OP of any ROM you flash, they typically will tell you what version of the bootloader you need to be on.

I'm fully aware of how to flash roms, and the merits of not "dirty flashing". What I'm curious about is whether or not we can find, for example, an AT&T Note 3 Rom, flash it on our phone, then immediately after flash the Beastmode kernel for our Sprint variant, and be able to actually boot into the rom and not lose the important things like wifi connectivity or 4g connectivity. I remember with other phones I've had in the past we were able to do that, without any major issues.

How do you check if you're on the latest modem and/or how do you update to the latest modem?
The modem number is also part of the baseband number, here is the link to help you find it http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/

So far that's the most helpful thread I've seen. I appreciate it. Might just take a risk and dive in and see what happens, but from that thread it looks like my best bet may be trying a Verizon rom, based on Verizon being CDMA also.

Sorry about that micmars, I think I posted the two or three SamMoble links around the same time. I will use XDA links first in the future.

I took the plunge and tried to install a T-Mobile rom, and it booted up fine, I could make phone and receive phone calls, could receive texts, but I couldn't send any. Not sure really what I would've needed to do to get texts working properly though so I went back to my nandroid. Tried following a guide to get the rom working on our carrier, and the rom wouldn't flash. Thanks for the help though, I appreciate it. Looks like I'll just stick with the Sprint Roms.
I used to root and flash like crazy on all my previous android phones. When I got my s5 last June, I just rooted it so I could use Ad Free and let it be.
Now I'm wanting to get it up to date on lollipop. Doesn't have to be the stock ROM, but close to it, maybe just slimmed down a bit if anything.
Can someone tell me, based on my version in the screenshot, what the procedure is at this point? I know when I used to be doing this all the time there were always new tools, recoveries, methods etc. that needed to be followed to avoid bricking or any problems so I don't want to just download the first lollipop ROM I see and flash it since it's been nearly a year since I rooted the phone and haven't done anything to it since. Thanks very much for any help.
EDIT: I should also mention when I boot to recovery it says it's Android System Recovery, so it appears I never had CWM or TWRP installed.

dont go lollipop its not worth it, im currently downloading kitkat firmware and i will downgrade as soon as i can
Use twisted lollipop v5
It's built off kitkat base but lollipop rom very cool stable and some tweaks . You do not have to be on official lollipop update to flash it .Just root flash twrp recovery for t-mobile s5 download rom and flash
It's in android dev section

Is the se for android permissive?
Whatever u do, don't go lollipop. It's full of annoying little problems. I rooted and I should have stopped there. Rooting doesn't affect Knox. I changed get the recovery to twrp and tripped Knox. Mind u, just to check out the roms. Decent roms but all the ones that have lollipop all have the same b.s. Errors lollipop comes with. Oh and u can downgrade incase u upgrade and don't like lollipop. It won't affect Knox.
?twisted v5 is good, I've been running it. I also flashed dob1 firmware.
