Q1: Could a particular theme from samsung's theme store cause faster battery drain? I'm using the Material Black theme now and feel like my battery is draining slightly faster than before, although I'm not sure whether the theme is causing it or not.
Q2: Is there any way I can turn off the resizable feature? Maybe by turning off an apk through Titanium Backup?
I often accidently trigger this when swiping down to access the notification panel.
Thanks in advance!

I'm currently in CM10 nighlty 09/04 using the Touchwiz UX launcher. This launcher typically displays the app name under the apps that are in the dock, which is currently not the case for me (see my screenshot below).
Does anyone knows how to get the app names to show under the apps that are located in the dock? I'm not sure if this is a problem from the launcher I flashed or from the CM10 code because the stock Trebuchet launcher also lacks that functionality.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
OK so I went back to CM9 and flashed the UX launcher we have under our theme section and sure enough, the names are showing under the dock icons. So I think it's safe to say that the fact they are not in CM10 is probably due to the Jelly Bean UX launcher port.
So my question now is, does anybody knows what needs to be modified in the launcher apk so that the app names can be displayed under the icon? Also, is there any plan for someone to port the s3 jelly bean launcher to the s2? If so that would most likely solve my issue at once.
Thanks!

So you can't figure out what 5 dock icons are without the names being displayed under them? Just curious about why its such a big deal.

Without the names, there is a lot of empty space under the icons as you can see from the screenshot, so it doesn't look as good. I know for a fact that TW UX comes with the labels under the apps that are in the dock, so i'd be nice to be able to have it the same way.
I solved my issue. It seems there's been some sort of corruption during all my flashing that eventually affected the TWUX launcher. I wiped and started from scratch and all is fine now.
Edit: The problem was not due to a corruption, but rather to the fact that I had reassigned the hardware keys and enabled the three-dot menu display. I guess when doing so, the launcher imagine that it's because on-screen buttons are present and thus some additional space is created.
Many apps think Z Ultra is a tablet... Hence the font is very small and eye straining... Even 300% with opera mobile classic the font is 2x smaller than 300% font in HD2... :crying:
Small font
I found a solution to this. Download this app font scaler . Set it to the maximum after that turn it off and on. The words will be slightly bigger
There's a setting in Android which let you scale the fonts. Not sure if that's enough for you, since it doesn't really scale that much up/down. It should be under Settings - Display

Once it's rooted Paranoid Android and xposed framework allows a per app dpi setting.

That's what I hoping it happen soon...
I'm really looking for an alternative launcher, not the default one. There are tons of launchers on Play Store all similar to each other, all similar to stock plus something new, and not even innovative most of the times.
I want something different. I tried Grenade Launcher, but I didn't like the unpaged drawer nor the look. After that came MiniHome. It had an eternal app reflow even if it was app only. Launcher7 wasn't that bad. SickSky also survived for more than 5 seconds as default launcher. smart launcher isn't my kind of launcher, I want to see ALL my apps.
So, this far the best one was Listener Launcher. Why? It is app drawer + infos. I mean, on my home screen there are just the infos I need to know, like unread messages, weather, most close events, missed calls, facebook notifications, Twitter and so on. The fact to face is : Listener is pretty ugly, mostly for the fact that there is a page for every "notification provider" (aka messages, calls...). Plus, these aren't working that good.
So, is there any launcher similar to Listener, providing me the notifications I need on main screen and a nice Drawer?
Thanks for your time and your replies.
Edit : I saw you moved this. I apologize for posting in the wrong section , tapatalk drove me mad

Why not use a widget such as UCCW, Zooper, DashClock or Minimalistic Text and then any launcher you feel like using?
Well, mostly because using a widget would mean to give him dimensions. I tried to do it with UCCW, but the space for messages notification is always the same, even if I have 0 or 100 unread ones. I'm looking for something more dinamic. Also because I don't want widgets. I have a not-so-new phone, and my 512mb ram with last CM makes my launcher refresh everytime I leave it. Having to refresh launcher, widgets and app list is pretty slow, cutting the widget loading makes me happy. Also, widget means I have something more than the drawer running. It is pretty much matter of optimization. Third but not last, I can't get something I like with UCCW or all those apps. I can't, doesn't matter how hard I try.

Hey friends.
I'm a new father to a beautiful Samsung S9+ so I have just began to go through its amazing features and last but not least.. the camera! Whoo it's awesome, for being a phone.
But I wanna ask u about clocks.
Widget clocks and which ones are your favorite?
Thanks

Be careful with clock and weather widgets, many of them have trackers etc and use way too many permissions/battery etc. But there are lots that work as intended as well, just be alert!
huk kwgt - hundreds of clock widgets for KWGT, all customizable
Simple weather and Clock widget (no ads) - has some of the Pixel clock widgets and others, light and not power consuming
Lawnchair v2 - features the Pixel "At a Glance" clock, simple and cutting edge
For some clock designs, I've noticed ZEDGE has a nice selection as well. Good luck
I'm a fan of the good old Chronus!
More simple, than fancy.
Thanks for the warning. Had no idea about those things. But it all comes down to common sense I feel. I very rarely try a unknown app even from G play since I'm way to paranoid about malicious code. That's partly why I like to ask the community first which they like and such to gauge an idea over all the apps or themes out there.
Thanks for the tips I use the Chronus one right now!

Google analog clock resized in Nova:
Enjoying the tablet so far but the icons are just too big, so installed Nova Launcher hoping that would quickly solve the problem.
When you rotate the display to landscape the dock stays on the right ( which in itself is weird, and it's unclear where you swipe from to bring up the app draw. When swiping from the right you get a weird menu.
I use Nova Launcher on all my devices usually and this is the first time I've seen this, maybe it's just because I havent done a fresh install of Nova Launcher for while but this seems messed up.
I'm sure there are probably options in ths settings to change all of this (probably take a hour of more to find) but damn, why does it default to this now?? :silly:
Hi,
I had the same problem.
Solution: go to system settings, display, zoom, and then set the zoom level to minimum.
Then the dock is at the right place.

Zoom? Will try this later, you've hopefully saved me an hour of faffing around in the settings.
@winmentat01 you're a legend mate. That fixed it for me. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it a Samsung bug or a Nova one?
Thanks, that worked for me also.
If you want even smaller icons and user interface, use the options in the Developer settings > Minimum width. If you make the value bigger, the interface become smaller. The default setting is 800. For example 960 works just great and all apps become PC-like experience.
