any way to go back to normal bootloader???

I'm thinking of selling my HTC Aria for a later HTC, But firstly I would like to Get rid of Cockworkmod and also put the latest OTA on the phone, clock work wouldnt be such a problem if the OTA's flashed from clock work, but they dont.. so IM wanting to go Full bog standard factory restore, Anyone able to help me out?? I have searched the internet, and the closest i have found instructions for is the Droid x, and.. I dont wunna screw this up so im not following those instructions

Which HBOOT version do you currently have?
hboot ver. 6.02.1002
You should be able to run the RUU to revert to a stock, un-rooted ROM. The HBOOT won't be downgraded, but you don't really need to downgrade it. You wouldn't even notice any difference in normal day to day use.
Edit: You will either need to install a Sense ROM before you begin the RUU process or you can put the phone on the FASTBOOT menu.
I can do that the problem with that is the OTA updates wont be able to work as clockworkmod cannot apply OTA, unless someone has a RUU of 2.3 then i wont need it, otherwise the only Ruu i can get is a early 2.2 and im looking for the WWE or Asia version I dont like the Aus one even though im in New Zealand.

Well, as far as I know, you can receive OTA updates if you have the ROM installed. I don't think your HBOOT or recovery will matter, although I'm not positive. HOWEVER, you have no reason to worry about it anyway. There won't be any future OTA updates for the Aria, so it doesn't matter.
correct, I am able to recieve them, but the OTA fails to apply as it doesnt liek the clock work mod, if i try to go through just clockworkmod recovery it also fails to apply the update saying it cannot apply OTA's

What OTA are we talking about?
Oh my mistake, I ment I can get Asia 2.1-update 1 and no later, the Over the air update that comes after that( phone downloads it ) fails to apply, Btw I get my RUU from Shipped-roms.com
Im busy doing the OTA update right now.. it seams to be working, unlike last time i tried.. I dunno why either, Ill update with results..
ok apparently im updated to 2.37 or something.., but the android version is 2.2 now so atleased the OTA's work

[Q] With CWM Recovery can you flash stock?

Hi,
Now that ROMs are starting to come out for the Prime. The only thing that I would need if I was to unlock the bootloader and install a recovery is the capability to flash back to stock (Yes I know that the bootloader will still be unlocked).
So is it possible to flash a stock rom or ota using clockwork mod recovery?

No, you cannot restore a stock Asus-provided update. It will, apparently, brick your Prime.
However, given that the first thing anyone would/should do is take a nandroid backup, you can always restore that and be back on your stock ROM.
Will it be ever possible to flash stock so that we can get the latest updates still? Or is this a techical impossibility due to the way asus apply their OTA's?

No. That is one of the things explicitly states in the waiver you have to agree to in order to unlock the bootloader.
From the bootloader unlock terms:
" the software of Revised Product will no longer be deemed the software of the Original Product and can no longer receive ASUS software updates"
Yes I had read and understood that part but I was alluding to whether the community could work out a way or whether it's completely impossible?
Well someone will put up a stock zip you can flash which is just a different way of getting the stock ROM. Usually it takes a few days for one to show up after an ota though. There is a stock .15 zip in development now. You'll still have root.
Thanks.
I've found the thread about the stock .15 which is installable with unlocked bootloaders.

[Q] How to receive OTA updates if already rooted and s-off?

I need a little help. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted my phone, made TWRP my recovery, and got s-off. I did not flash a custom ROM. Now though, there is an update for my phone. I want to update it to the latest via OTA and remain on the stock ROM until 4.2.2 comes out. It is my understanding that I may need to run an RUU since I have TWRP as my recovery. This is where I'm a little confused.
1) Which RUU do I select? (I currently have the stock T-Mobile US build version 1.27.531.7 CL170484 release-keys if that helps)
2) Afterr I flash the RUU, do I need to perform s -on and re-lock the bootloader prior to performing the OTA update?
3) Am I missing any major steps?
4) Would it be better to just use a custom ROM like Android Revolution rather than trying to revert back to stock, etc?
Thanks for any and all input.

you need to flash the original recovery to install ota updates,, you will lose root access doing so
Or wait until some package it into a ZIP file and flash using TWRP.
Right?
Just wait a week.
All you need to do is put the stock Tmo recovery on your one. Then go update with ota and you will still be unlocked but you do lose root.
So it seems like there is disagreement to whether the stock ROM causes you to lose root or not. Either way, I would need to "lock" the bootloader again right?
Does the update add anything really worth having? I'm thinking that ARHD would be the best bet until an RUU comes out.

I'm sorry I was wrong you will lose root after you update ota. But you can do ota while being unlocked so no need to relock bootloader just flash the stock Tmo recovery and update.

Can you update rooted 4.3 to the 4.4 OTA?

I'm considering rooting my phone, which is currently running the android 4.3 update. I was wondering, if I were to root it but not flash a new ROM, would I be able to update to the newer OTA (whenever it comes out) without problems? I was able to on my old samsung device, but this is my first HTC device and I'm unsure if anything changes. If I am able to upgrade, and I do upgrade to the official 4.4 OTA, would the fastboot menu still show "tampered" on the top? Thank you.

First answer is no ..you can't take OTA Update on a Custom recovery that is needed to install Root and custom Roms.
Second one is to remove the Tampered text all you need is to s-off your phone with RumRunner. once your s-off you can do many things with your phone. Read the Sticky Guides on how to unlock bootloader and installing custom recovery / Roms

Flash factory images over a locked bootloader? HTC and Google both say it's possible.

So, long story short, I recently bought a Nexus 9 from ebay which arrived with factory reset protection.
I have spoken to both Google and HTC about the situation and both were of no real help except for saying a few things outright between them to give me good enough reason to believe one of two things.
That 1 - it is possible to flash factory images over a device with a locked bootloader
or 2 - it is possible to unlock the bootloader without having access to developer settings
Anyone have any experience with either of these possibilities?
https://developers.google.com/android/ota
Full OTA Images can be flashed onto devices with locked boot loaders.
You need to boot into recovery and select sideload update.
Yeah, I know how to do that, but that only goes for updates, doesn't it? I tried to sideload a previous build onto the tablet but it failed the procedure, so it doesn't really solve the issue and if I flash a more recent update I still get FRP :/ If I wanted to revert back to the 7.0, or even marshmallow, would that be possible? Or does that require an unlocked bootloader?

Those are full ota images, same as factory image. Meaning full package.

Ah yes, now I see your predicament. Unfortunately, there is no "there" there. You do need an unlocked bootloader to wipe the system clean with a factory image, and as you noted, the Full OTA Image will recover you from a system that won't boot, but it won't get rid of FRP.

Exactly Hence my questions as to how do the manufacturers wipe everything and flash the new image without unlocking the bootloader? Or will it always be a trade secret?...... Hmmmm

did we ever fix this? my bootloader is locked and no os installed. Was trying to return to factory and went thru all the flashing steps successfully then at the end locked the bootloader. Now tablet says "for development purposes only not for production use" and boots back to fastboot. It will not reboot at all

Never found out how they do this.... are you able to boot in to recovery? if you can do that you may be able to flash a recovery OTA through 'apply update from ADB'. Worth a shot

definitely don't lock your bootloader. That is a horrible move and serves no purpose

I actually reflashed last factory stock image and relocked without issue. It is a horrible move, I agree...I already miss root, but it suits the purpose. Thanks for your reply.

it's only a bad move if you make a mistake and can't repair it because your bootloader is now locked. But if it goes well then you're all set.
