Downgrading is simple and easy yet effective.... If u know what to do....
U will only brick if u downgrade your boot loader or you flash wrong gpt.bin
First u need to check if ur bootloader has bee updated or not.... Easy, just remember the processes:
1) To enter Bootloader mode in Kitkat, u needed Power button + Vol down
2) To enter Lollipop Bootloader, Power button + Vol up\
Hence u can easily find out if u have the Kitkat or Lollipop Bootloader.
Now there is something u need to know.
For safe downgrading to Kitkat, u need .XML signed images, not the official ones.
Now, here it goes...
If u have any batch files (restore.bat etc) Just edit in notepad and REMOVE THESE TWO LINES:
1) mfastboot.exe flash motoboot motoboot.img (The bootloader)
2) mfastboot.exe flash partition gpt.bin
U are done!!!!
I will leave an updated batch file, as well as an updated firmware (4.4.4) below. Use these to revert safely to stock.
Good Luck!!!

Alright.... I might be wrong.... But anyways... I guess I am correct on the part that skipping the flash of bootloader and gpt is the safest way in restoring ur phone?

Simple... Just open the 5.1 zip files (the OTA files here in XDA) and check for the presence of any motoboot.img.
gpt.bin will be present (obviously).
If motoboot is present and u installed 5.1, Congo, u have the Lollipop bootloader.... else... KitKat.
I am saying this because in all 5.0.2 OTA zips, there are no motoboot.img(s).
So, Kitkat bootloader was not replaced in 5.0.2.
But there WAS a new Bootloader upgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4.... Mismatched bootloaders, caused most hardbricks

Nothing will be harmed... You have the 5.1 bootloader? Have u checked in the zip for motoboot.img? Even if u have upgraded the bootloader, u can update.... Because, there is no downgrading, just upgrading.
This method worked for me

Hello,
This is for every one with a Latam phone who tried to downgrade and get stucked on Fastboot. and for some who was on the Chinese ics and Flashing to Latam is not working since no Fastboot ICS Latam
After working on it for 2 hours
i was able to find a solution and i tried it on many phones to make sure it wasnt just question of chance.
Step1:
download the Fastboot that i modified ( its a mix with Retail.Br.en 2.3.6 and Retail.Br.en ICS 4.0.4 + some modification in the XML file )
Flash it with RSD Lite as usual
Step2:
Put the update file in the ext-sd card
Step3:
When finished flashing go in Recover mode by pressing the key combination of Power button + volume up + volume down button together at once. You will see the recovery screen ( ! ) just press the volume up + volume down
Step4:
scroll to " apply update from external storage " and select the needed file
"blur_version.651.167.3370.xt910.brasil.en.br.zip" this update will JUST fix the missed file , keep the updated ( since its a mix ) and delete the un needed file ( as usual )
Reboot
and your phone shld be working
Modified fastboot:
Latam_Retail_BR_2.3.6_mixed_with_Retail_BR_4.0.4_and_xml_modified
ICS 4.0.4 update Br.en
blur_version.651.167.3370.xt910.brasil.en.br
P.S its works only for Latam.
I'm not responsable if you brick your phone ( its not a downgrade to 2.3.5, 2.3.6, 4.0.3 )
Please if it works for you or no try to put me up to date

No, once on ICS there's no going back to GB... At least not right now... This is to repair a botched ICS upgrade on a LATAM device... I guess by changing the corresponding files in the script, it could be used for other regions...

Yes I alredy did that but still the same problem no advance stuck in the motorola logo with no answer.
Ok. Factory reset + clean cache + redo the rsdlite ( better to unzip the file and take the xml ) let it reboot by it selft it will download by itself à recovery. Than go back to recovery and update with thé update zip file. Dont change the name of the file ( some time changing names can affect and better that u do a new download on the dont use the same ) also some times it happens during download some data will be missed )
Sorry maybe in repeating ehat u did but this is the only way

latinoguy, there's a new ICS version for our phones. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696459 and start in the EXTRA! section...
Maybe this will fix your problem and you'll end with the updated ICS.

No. But you can skip the booting of the .69 firmware(just turn on the phone, see the Sony logo and force shut down(volup+power)). Then flash your desired lollipop firmware and !EXCLUDE TA partition! It is the most important part.

In flashtool, when you select the lollipop firmware, there is a list Exclude on the right. In that list check TA.
Simplified instuctions:
1. flash stock lollipop with flashtool
2. lock bootloader with flashtool
3. flash .69(turn on the phone and force turn off(if you get stuck in Sony logo) )
4. unlock the bootloader now
5. flash lollipop without TA
6. flash Androplus kernel to gain recovery
7. flash the DRM Restoration.zip from recovery and wipe dalvik cache
8. Done
Hit Thanks, if I helped!

If you saved your DRM keys before unlocking the bootloader, you can get it in its original state. If you didn't, you have to stay unlocked (or lock and lose drm functions, which I guess is not an option). But I don't see a reason for locking it. You can flash different kernels that way. For example, Androplus kernel have undervolting. It can reduce the heat of your device. It also has so many different options(governors, overclock, KSM, hotplug, etc.)

Install any .69 ftf you want. Just make sure it is for your variant of device (XX02, XX03 etc.) You will be overwriting it anyways. Just make sure it has a TA partition inside. If you don't see it, download another one.

To flash the Stock ROM on your phone download the ROM and flash it using the guide given below, you don't have to unlock your bootloader for this.
Stock ROM: https://mega.nz/#F!mlAC0QCa!V4sIvngRZqnLZhtFERPhSQ
Download the 5.1 RETEU Version
Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...e-restore-moto-e-2015-stock-firmware-t3044936
If the phone still doesn't boot, in the bootloader go to factory mode and then press the power button quickly around 30-40 times till the phone boots. Once it boots immediately follow the guide given below, unlock the bootloader for your device and then flash the Stock ROM again.
Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/general/guide-unlock-bootloader-moto-e-2015-t3045748
If you feel like flashing a Custom ROM after unlocking your bootloader, then the best ROMs for your device in my opinion is Cyanogenmod 13 or Zephyr-OS.
To flash a Custom ROM, Flash TWRP using this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4c0fO8Kr_Q. Only difference is download the latest TWRP image from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=9288#downloads
Then Download one of these ROMs:
Cyanogenmod: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=otus
ZephyrOS http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/development/rom-zephyr-os-sabermodtc15th-apr-t3359939
Also download the latest OpenGapps Pico 6.0 (ARM) from here:
http://opengapps.org/
Then follow these instructions and your device will be running a Custom ROM:
- Download the ROM and Gapps
- Boot into recovery mode [TWRP]
- Wipe System/Data/Dalvik Cache/Cache
- Select both the ROM and Gapps zip file and flash
- Reboot
Thanks i will try and reply
I've tried some commands before but it didnt respond so what shall i do in such case

Thanks bro! Curious as to if the xt1022 and this CDMA model could be interchangeable as far as software/ROMs go

Unbrick method is common to a device series. But the files you use aren't. Only the modem files are different as far as I have seen. Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think any other difference is there. After unbricking, you will get partition errors. Then, simply go to fastboot and use the correct files from your firmware. Instruction are given in my GitHub repository for this project. Read through my post and GitHub README.MD
Between, I'm still making things proper... You can have a look though..

Well I have the xt830c model and all i really want is the xt1022 5.1 update lol. I cant acquire root or unlock the bootloader because of worthless straight talk and its my only device
Hello guys. I'm new member. I'm from Viet Nam. I follow this topic https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xa/how-to/f31xx-how-to-root-xperia-xa-noob-t3430170 and https://forum.xda-developers.com/xa-ultra/how-to/how-to-root-xperia-xa-ultra-dual-t3439173
So I have UB but I can't root my phone. After I flash recovery and boot I hold vol - and power button but... my phone is boot loop
I flash firmware with firmware download on Xperifirm but after I flash firmware I can't restore with backup in SDcard ( I have backup sms, call, app to SDcard) I try relock bootloader but I don't backup TA before UB so I can't relock.
Now I can't root(cannot start TWRP recovery to install Supersu) and cannot restore with backup in SDcard.
Help me please!

Hi, are you sure that you are on Marshmallow firmware? If you are on Nougat you followed the wrong guide. Guides for XA and Ultra are different so use the one for your device.
