As the title says: how to test modified android stock roms (for example if we made some modifications in system.img) before installing on the phone (or tablet).
The versions of Android are 4.4.2 respectively 4.4.4 (to be more specific, for Lenovo and Samsung).
I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-assist/how-to-test-custom-roms-android-t3033137 (and http://fms.komkon.org/EMUL8/HOWTO.html) but I wonder if there is something already developed ?

Hello guys,
I have an MT6582-device with FWVGA Display and JellyBean (Innjoo i1 - only available in the Middle East and Africa) just like the "Android One" devices..
I see a lot of support and ROMS for those devices and they're getting stock Lollipop this month too!
So I thought I could try and port one rom (CM11) for example to my device.
Is this even possible?
I have my device's stock ROM, MIUI v5 that I ported myself to my device, My device boot.img extracted with the kernel, ramdisk, and device tree. (and a Kitkat kernel for MT6582 available at github)
I just need proper steps on how to port Cyanogenmod to my device.
Thanks.
I'm not asking for anything but to tell me if it's possible or not!!
I just bought ss galaxy alpha clone (hdc sangfei82_we_jb5),
it include mtk6582 soc. and runs 4.4.4. (Which i think, it is 4.2.2)
So i have 2 question.
1) Can i flash another device's rom with pack same mtk6582 to my phone? (may be exclude preloader)
2) Can i use another device source code, to compile the rom ffor my device?
Thanks.
Is there any custom ROM which can run on any android phone
because ROMS like cyanogenmod , carbon ROM , slim ROM , paranoid android , etc. works on specific models of phone.
CAN ANYBODY DEVELOP SUCH ROM FOR UNIVERSAL ANDROID MOBILES
No. ROMs include phone specific code and proprietary blobs. Plus there is an abundance of chipsets so to get a ROM to be universal, all devices would have to be identical. So, no, impossible.
Hello,
I read alot lately about porting Lollipop (CM 12.1) to my device (Allview V1 Viper which is basically a rebranded Gionee Elife E3) but i have some questions:
1. As far as i understood, there are some problems with CM and Mediatek devices. However i saw some posts with people succeeding to boot CM 12.1 on these devices. Can this be achieved ?
2. If yes, can i use KitKat stock kernel with a Lollipop build ? (my common sense says no, but who knows ?) If no, how can i build a kernel for Lollipop for this device. I saw that Mediatek released kernel source, can that be used ? Also, can i use the drivers from KitKat ? If no, which and where should i get the drivers from ? Can i use any files from KitKat stock rom for a Lollipop port ?
This will clear some things for the beginning.
Thanks in advance
