Hi everybody, I'm testing the xperia z2 from 20 April and I'm waiting the safe drm keys backup.
Camera quality is great but the auto mode pictures need to be more detailed. Could someone develop a module for xposed framework
like the z1 mode ? Thank for your answers !:fingers-crossed:
If you have question about the z2 you can ask me here (I'm sitting hard exams during 3 weeks it could take time before I answer you):highfive:
Sony disabled this because different settings cause different effects
20mp is general there for fun
Sony has focused on making Superior Auto actually work and really good too, so those 8mp shots will be better looking than 20mp, 20mp will just have that high resolution
You can decompile the cameraUI.apk and modify the values your self but i don't recommend
Side note
I think the xposed module to enable 20mp superiour auto actualy works on Z2 but i have yet to test

So I will wait for good updates from Sony. 20mp is just for having more sharpness.

To do that Doomloird would need a root exploit, with isn't available right now. And nothing seems to give hope that it will be released soon.
How come there isn't even basic ROMs for Z2 yet? No PA, No VanirAOSP and all.
I am thinking to buy this device but the dev support got me worried.
From my experience on here dev support usually takes a while on sony devices. If custom roms is your thing you should have a look at htc's phones or wait and see what progress is made with the z2.

Official CM development has already begun, (on par with the Z) which is much sooner than happened with the Z1.
Z1 had issues with unlocking the bootloader which was only resolved a few months after launch. Z2 does not have this problem.
Once CM completes the bring up other roms will follow.

I must admit, I'd like to see a completely pure AOSP ROM myself. (With one possible exception: the camera. I wouldn't want to lose any hardware features in terms of capture resolution, capture rate, full / half press shutter button, focus speed, or image quality. Couldn't care less about 4K video, but I don't know if there's a third-party app that can provide all of the above.)
I find my Xperia Z2 incredibly bloated, and while I've disabled as much as I can, there's a lot that can't be disabled without root. (And I am uncertain whether I can safely root this and change much without losing my warranty or the ability to install subsequent OTA updates without risking bricking the phone.)

Well it's a more popular phone. Not sure about somewhere else, but in Adelaide (Australia), htc is everywhere, but you can barely bump into someone with a Sony phone.
I for one would love a purer android experience, but I don't want to lose the active noise cancelling and answering machine. The thing irritates me the most on Z2 is that 'what's new' button when you long press home. Google now is not in the middle as it should.
Sure ROMs will have support when the phone is widely available, the trees are quite stable now and ready for daily driver.

I think I'll just get Z1 because it's almost similar to Z2 and has more support.
In case anyone is intrested: I currently work on a pure AOSP device tree for 4.4.4. i also planned to have some fun with L-preview but I don't know if I am able to do this.
You'll hear from me.
Greetings

That's the holy grail of android. AOSP with some pumped up feature rich camera. It doesn't exist, on any device!
I ran CM11 today just to try it out. I really like the ROM but the camera is just garbage compared to Sony's software. Plus you can't start the camera from the shutter button (a huge benefit for me personally). The smoothness and customization is great, but the camera never will be.

The camera is on par with Sony's ROM when it comes to photo quality, it doesn't support 4k but apart from that it
s pretty okay?

Press the button on the 2nd step (the one which is more inside) for like 2 seconds. Starts fine here on Carbon (which uses CM Camera).

Screen is much better on Z2.
Plus, aosp been avail on z1 much longer and to get camera to work properly you have to install a camera fix app.
Z2 has only had fully working aosp for a few weeks. You will find new developers and ROMs appearing each month so don't worry.
And on my previous phones, I rarely run pure CM but on Z2 I'm totally happy with it. Fast, smooth and with an Android L theme it looks great too.

For just a point and shoot it may be on part with OEM. One of Sony's best features might be the 120fps 720p mode. Much better than iphone5s or OPPO find7. No such option with AOSP derived third party roms.

if you install the oneplusone camera app, it will start when the phone is unlocked with the camera button. and you get a little bit of customisation.
From the looks of things though android L will bring use closer to the gold of having support for advanced camera features, rather than oems having to build there own.

Yeah I switched to Carbon for a few days and found that the general photo quality in the stock camera was pretty close, but I still missed the Sony app enough that I loaded my RomAur backup.
Honestly I could have dealt with the camera, but I had a lot of issues with AndroidWear and my Gear Live not working correctly on it... Not sure how support is on other Z2 supporting AOSP-ish ROMs at the moment but it wasn't particularly reliable there.
I definitely did like the overall experience though minus the minor issues.

I'm not asking for a pumped-up, feature-rich camera, just one that can do what the hardware is capable of. Full resolution, full burst rate, and a working shutter button. I'd prefer not to have all Sony's extra bunk like ar modes etc, to be honest.
Hi,
As you know Xz2 has a bad quality in pictures specially when we use it in night ..Is there any camera application or mod or something like that which we can use to improve quality?
Does any one knows any news about sony developers which we hope a better camera app in future?or this 20 mp camera is useless?

Hi
I have Sony Xperia Z2 and I know there have been lots of threads regarding this issue and i know that this camera lag does not affect the photo quality. However is there anyway to flash or install or modify the old camera app which was in 4.4.3? I hate how the camera is laggy and not as smooth.
Any help or reply is much appreciated. Thank you all.
If you use Existenz then the most recent version (4.5.0) has it.
Thank you so much! I'm currently using 4.0 and I didn't know about the 4.5, thanks for your help!!!

Has no one taken into account the decrease of refresh rate was intentional by Sony to save battery and reduce heating

Now in z2 , the camera is very laggy ...ok...but we have now a very good quality in photos! I try a photo with 4.4.2 and another photo with 4.4.4...same place, same object. The sharpness, colors and quality is very very very superior in 4.4.4
Infact in 4.4.2 some photos are with a strange blue bounce in objects, people and animals. In 4.4.4 the bounce disappear . I heard (but i'm not sure of this) , the photo quality with z and z1 is very bad with sony camera. Now z2 with sony camera is really ok in my opinion :good:
I agree with you that the camera is taking better photos, however don't forget that 4.4.4 exaggerates the colours of photos in album app, I don't know if you can notice that.. When you look at the photos on pc or print anything, they come out terrible. I was really happy with the old camera. I think would be great if someone can find a way to get back the old camera 4.4.3 running on 4.4.4.
Thank you

It's supervivid or (sometimes) x-reality feature on screen settings if you activate....it exaggerate colour in certain situations on phone...in PC, the photos are great for me... i test that i advice you to settings the white balance screen with : R=0 B=177 G=177 to have more natural colors on screen .Then use manual camera to take better photos Or 3rd party app (like snap camera or a better camera ). You can try :good:
Yes that is right. I agree that it does a decent photos but I think I was happy with a smooth camera that is all. No my pc is fine and I also tend to copy photos to mac and I use mac book pro retina. I want the 60 fps back!!
Thanks for all the ideas and support guys

It would be perfectly possible, if Sony would be so nice and would include Camera2 API access into their Lollipop/Marshmallow ROM. But they didn't.
There is a solution - Long exposure camera app, it will somehow achieve the effect (my guess is more photos, combined together). It works rather well for light traces, etc., but the result's aren't greatest. + quite low res results.

If couple of seconds works for you then Try using:
camera fv5
as i tried i think effective is max 5 seconds, maybe somebody else hase solved this
Long exposure pbotos you cant and you could take with Z2 cause Sony does not make Camera 2API for Z2.
You can try, like someone said try with FV-5 do few exposures instead of that.

The dev is probably using hacks to even get that.
If you get a Sony, just know you're going to have to use the stock camera. For me that's a total deal breaker.
Even their unreleased X series will be without camera2.
