Camera problems - CAMERA FAILURE - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
When I try to open the camera the flash light flashed about 5 times and I get Camera Failure.
To start I have to tell the story from the beginning:
My initial problem with this phone was that the audio out from the 3.5mm plug was not good, sound would only be heard at maximum level and there were digital gaps/noise.
To start I replaced the part where the 3.5mm plug was integrated but the results were the same with the new one.
In the process I changed the FW always using original roms from samsung-updates, the audio problem persisted.
Then I replaced the Audio Chip WM1811AE and the audio problem was solved.
After this, while testing the phone I noticed this camera problem.
I know that before I started repairing this sound problem the camera was working, but I don't know is the problem started because of the audio chip replacement or the FW change.
Any Ideas?
This is a Vodafone PT phone and I'm now downloading older FW files to test but the this downloads are very slow.
Best Regards.

Update:
Today I tried a new camera to conclude that the problem don't come from the camera itself, it must be something around it.
I will try to remove the sound chip a solder it again, maybe there is some short in some balls in the grid that is causing some king of problem in the data/address bus that affects the camera...
Any ideas before I tray this?
Best Regards.

Hey there!
This is actually exactly what I encountered! I had messed up audio coming from speakers and during calls. Then I had the audio IC replaced which solved the audio problem. Unfortunately the camera stopped working after that. I reflashed stock firmwares, but it didn't help. Btw, selfie camera works fine in 3rd party apps. The LED Flash (torch) doesn't work.
I found out that the audio IC (which I got replaced by shady repair guys) is placed right above the Camera IC on the other side of the PCB. So It's pretty easy to mess up when replacing the audio circuit. And sure enough after some inspecting, I saw flux burn marks around the camera IC. So I'm almost sure that reworking the camera IC will fix the camera issue. And this is probably what happened to your phone also. For some reason I stopped at that point, and my camera is still yet to be fixed.
So have you had any progress with the camera since?

[Q] Issue with Audio Jack Working Only On Some Headphones

Hello Dear Xda,
I am having a very strange issue with the Audio Jack. When I got my phone I used samsung headphones and they seemed to have worked perfectly. Now when I tried using other headphones - i.e. the ones that work perfectly with my other devices, it simply wont register. I put the jack in, but nothing happens. the music keeps playing. I thought its only that headphone so I tried others, such as my Car's cassette adapter still the same issue arises.
Now I tried my mothers phone which is a Galaxy SL and it works perfectly with all the headphones that wont work for me. then I decided to squeez teh headphone a bit harder and turn it around in different directions and it started to work a bit, with terrible quality, but it worked. and if i hold it into a certain awkward position you could hear the sound almost flawlessly.
I have came to the conclusion that my jack might have a problem. But I am not aware how to fix the problem. Cause it works perfectly with some headphones, but it wont with others. Does this requires full change of the jack, or can it be fixed by readjusting it somehow?
inb4: I have restarted the phone several times, changed to factory setting and even changed rom to no avail, so this clearly is no software issue.
Thanks in advance
Replace jack. Should be YouTube videos around/Google search might reveal how to do it, but in all honesty, if you're not competent with microelectronics (like me), take it to someone who knows what they're doing (local mobile repair shop). Shouldn't be expensive to fix as the jack is a cheap part, main component of the fix will be labour.

Amaze 4G mic problem

My Amaze 4G for T-Mobile was rooted with s-on and flashed with Revolution HD 4.0 about half year ago. I had to change the digitizer/LCD assembly because it went dark. That went rather smoothly. However, the mic stopped working after that. I can hear people but they can't hear me. I did re-flash with the same ROM after the repair since the phone was having some other issues I thought might be software related. Didn't test the mic before the flash though.
The symptoms and what I've done so far:
-- People can't hear me during call. Turning on speaker doesn't help. Using a headset with built-in mic works.
-- The voice recorder app can't record a thing. Tapping the phone doesn't record either, so it's not dirt blocking the hole. AndroSensor app shows no sound input.
-- I can record video WITH sound. This was actually done after I replaced the mic PCB. Does this mean the mic is OK or the phone has another mic?
-- Re-flashed and tried another ROM, same thing.
-- Flashed back to stock T-Mobile ICS ROM, no good.
-- Installed SoundAbout app, played around with it, i.e., the headset plug trick, still no dice.
Since I can record video with sound, I feel it's more like a software problem, unless there's a secondary mic used for video recording but not phone calls. The sound doesn't seem to be recorded through the mic hole at the bottom as blocking it with my finger doesn't reduce the volume. I'm thinking to try the stock Gingerbread ROM as a last resort.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Since the Amaze records video in stereo, I have to assume there are at least 2 mics.

Make sense. It was working fine before I changed the digitizer/LCD. Thought I might broke something during the process. Checked the cables and they looked OK, so I replaced the microphone PCB but that didn't help. Could be a bad PCB though. May try to ask seller for a replacement. Does the problem sound like a software issue to anyone? I went ahead re-flashed the stock GB ROM but failed. I read somewhere the phone needs to be S-Off to do that. Any suggestions what else I can try to fix it?

Not a notion. It would be nice if there was some sort of schematic or youtube how-to for the mic. As for getting to S-Off, there is guide if necessary--do a search.

Replacing the mic PCB was easy, figured it out by myself. Can't be sure if I broke something else during the repair. I did search for S-Off guides and it seems the wire trick under Linux is the only way to go now. Since putting back the stock ICS ROM didn't help, I don't think the stock GB ROM will do any good either. The phone had ICS when I rooted it. Requested a replacement of the mic PCB I bought, let's see how that goes.

Problem with 3,5mm jack

Hi, I recently bought an used g925f, and directly modded with a custom Rom (now I'm on carhd Tom, but tries several ones nougat based) , without trying that all is working properly. It has 2 things broken, led behind multitasking button is broken, and the 3,5mm Jack is not working (don't recognize headset). No problem with first issue, but the second is really annoying. So, googling a bit other people had similar issue, but they solved after cleaning the hole, not my case unlucky. So do you thing is hardware related, or sw? In case of hardware issue, changing the board with the connector, will solve the problem?
Thank you

Headphone problem

I have a problem with my package included headphone or my phone or both I don't know.
I wonder anyone got this weird bug or hardware problem.
This is the problem step by step:
I plug usb type c package included headphone.
I see small headphone icon upper side of the screen.
I open a music app -for example youtube-
I play anything video is shown and auto playing stops the video or music. Phone acts like headphone unplugged but its plugged anyway.
Small headphone icon doesnt show anymore but its plugged to usb port.
I touch the play button again and music comes out from phone's speakers.
I unplug and plug headphone again to usb port and music comes from headphone and little icons shows up on screen.
So this is the problem that I have. I need to talk about some experiment notes I have had.
I have never had this bug or problem with usb type c to 3.5 mm headphone jack converter. And also having same problem with making some calls or any kind of sound output situations with type c headphone. And the interesting part is I tried to record a screen video about this problem guess what... No bugs or problems when recording but its again shows up when I stopped the recording video.
Tell me something about this bug or problem. Anyone have this problem with phone. Thanks a lot already for your comments and suggestions and answers
I bought my Mate 20 mid April and I faced exactly the same issue with headphone. No matter I use the original one USB-C or USB-C to jack. I did not find any solution and returned the phone back to the vendor.

Hi!
I have the same identical issue. I bought a mate 20 pro and originale headphone works only if, after music starts, I unplugg and then I plug headphone usb c.
Have you find a solution?
Hi I too have the exact same problem. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I've had similar problems with my headphones, maybe not exactly. But hey, give it a try. Definitely worked for me. I say headphones because I had the issue with both the packaged headset as the Huawei ANC ones I bought later. Problem was an accumulation of rubble in the USB-C socket of the phone. And it got worse over time. Took a very thin item and gently cleaned the socket. Cleared all issues instantly. Substantial filth in the port. To check for rubble in the portt take a magnifying glass and enough light to check. Hope it helps. I thought after it got really worse and the cable would not even stay in the socket, I had to send phone to Huawei for repair but as a last resort I cleaned the USB-C port and now no more issues. Do be careful though.
I've not even taken those out of the wrapper since getting my m20p in December. Using Bluetooth without any issues on assorted headsets.

Same problem here, but only with the earbuds that came with the phone. If I use the adapter (which also came with the phone) with my old headphone, there are no problems at all.
no one has solved the problem of the original earphones that are not heard on the phone? I brought the phone for assistance with this problem and they replaced my motherboard. today I picked up the phone and the problem is still there. ridiculous. for you the problem is only with the original earphones or even with others of the type c?
up up please
The problem stopped occurring as soon as I updated my phone to 9.1.

Microphone not working after replacing screen

Hi,
I replaced my screen today.
I bought a full assembly with mid frame and screen included.
Everything is working fine except the microphone.
Speaker, thrill motor is working.
When using speaker mode the upper mike is working.
I checked all connections and reseated every flatcable, but no improvement.
Any clues or do i need to replace the powerboard.
So I replaced the power board, but the issue unfortunately remains the same.
Lower microphone is not working.
Anyone have an idea on what it might be?
Hi, i have the exact same proble, did you manage to fix this?
Hi, any solution yet?
