Other Options
Browser User Agent:
Now available from within the stock browser is the ability to set your preferred user agent e.g. desktop so that you no longer have to visit mobile sites before you can request the desktop version.
Accessible via: Browser -> Settings -> Advanced -> User agent
Kernel:
The kernel being used in Slim Bean is now a compiled version of Fluxi XX.03 (non S2W) and in order to control individual kernel settings such as BLN and CPU/votages it's recommended to download and use xxTweaker. You can also use other apps such as Voltage Control, Set CPU, NSTools or similar but xxTweaker was written by myfluxi himself.
For the latest version of xxTweaker get it from: fluxi-xxTweaker-0.4.0_beta1.apk
Camera:
New options have been added to the camera menu similar to those available in Slim ICS. When you start up the camera, press on the settings icon followed by the 3 dot menu icon and you will now see:

Burst mode: Allows you to take multiple photo's per shutter press (5/10/15/20)
Ignore the colours in screenshots Airdroid messed them up.
Other useful information: Links, anomalies (aka not known bugs) and anything else
Changelogs of work in progress is contained at the website below. Please make sure you read known issues before submitting bug reports
http://slimroms.net
- Other anomalies found and reported: I will add to this list so we can keep track
Some pop up selections give random text as the headers, cancel button is tiny and ok button is replaced with "Pressing the volume rocker up/down will wake the device". This has so far been seen when setting custom carrier label and setting slider shortcuts Fixed in 2.3
Phone answer slider isn't centred for below 240dpi: krarvind is currently looking for a better fix for this so it's currently off centre if you're using below 240dpi Fixed in 2.4
Stock kernel - Unable to change USB computer connection from storage menu (MTP/PTP/UMS) as always reverts straight back to MTP
Camera/Gallery - Power shutter causes FC Fixed in 2.5
- Miscellaneous
For those that don't know camera is merged with gallery in Jellybean so any reference to gallery2 or gallerygoogle also refers to camera
Gallerygoogle.apk which gives 3MP but allows for Picasa sync has now been moved to the OTA app
For themers: power widget in notification dropdown now uses different naming so old mods won't work e.g. stat_2g3g_off.png, stat_2g3g_on.png etc
Thank You Krarvind. Been waiting for this
Great news!
Thanks for your contributions.
Short Version of this Post: On my phone, a selection of benchmarking apps give scores indicating SlimJB is 2% faster than SlimICS.
====================================================
Long Version of this post:
So I bit the bullet, and installed JB in dualboot, along side with SlimICS 4.2
(If you want to see how you can set up Dualboot yourself, check out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26730445&postcount=1 )
My First impressions are that SlimJB is very fluid. After initial setup, have had no problems. (Apart from the standard ones, camera, etc)
I havent had time to do any extensive testing, but I have run some benchmarks, so I can have an idea of differences (if any) between the two roms, running on MY phone.
I know that no amount of benchmarking can account for real world usage, everybodies mileage varies, everybodies phone is different, some benchmarking apps havent yet been tweaked for JB's CPU usage (because of the higher UI priority), and that the answer to the universe is 42.
I'm just posting this info here in case someone is curious about this.
I'm not telling anyone to use SlimICS, SlimJB or to DualBoot their phones.
My Current setup is:
Made full backup in CWM, also backed up EFS, copied up to PC
1st boot slot: SlimICS 4.2 + common, after wiping EVERYTHING. Kernel: Siyah 4.0.1
2nd boot slot: SlimJB 2.1 + common, after wiping 2nd rom data/cache.
Upon first boot in both roms, I only installed the benchmarking apps from the apk's I have on my ExternalSD, and made sure stuff like rotation, etc were all disabled, and that airplane mode was enabled.
I rebooted the phone before each benchmark, and waited 2 minutes before unlocking the phone and running the app. I noted the results, closed the app, ran it again, and averaged the two scores, rounding to closest integer.
I did this first for SlimICS, then for JB.
Since both roms are "stock" with no changes, I am using standard as-is configurations.
RESULTS:
Quadrant Standard 2.1.1:
ICS: Total-3283; CPU-5637; Mem-2116; I/O-6145; 2D-606; 3d-1912
JB: Total-2108; CPU-3514; Mem-1257; I/O-3898; 2D-330; 3d-1539
ICS=100% /// JB=64%
CF-Bench 1.2:
ICS: Overall Score-5925; Java Score-3061; Native Score-10221
JB: Overall Score-5123; Java Score-2451; Native Score-9131
ICS=100% /// JB=86%
GLBenchmark 2.5:
ICS: Fill Test-358915328; Egypt Classic-6703 frames, 59fps
JB: Fill Test-365721504; Egypt Classic-6732 frames, 60fps
ICS=100% /// JB=102%
RealPi, to 10.000.000 digits:
ICS: 745 secs
JB: 741secs
ICS=100% /// JB=101%
Antutu 2.9.1:
ICS: Total-5393; CPU-2372; RAM-936; GPU-1481; I/O-602
JB: Total-5499; CPU-2642; RAM-1035; GPU-1462; I/O-360
ICS=100% /// JB=102%
Averaging all the percentage differences gives an overall score of SlimICS=100%, SlimJB=91%
Although, I do know that Antutu, Realpi and GLBenchmark have actually taken into account the CPU differences in JB, I will only regard those results as final, which gives SlimICS=100%, SlimJB=102%
And now I'll be testing other stuff over the next week or two. I'll only report back if I find something that really bugs me.
Keep up the good work, guys!!!
Have been a long time lurker on slim ICS since 3.4. Hoping to play more active role with slim bean. Excellent work its hugely appreciated.

Nice mod, you can do better adding "always" to a long press
Would you consider to add an option to block certain apps from appearing in the dialog?

Well, "always" logic is to skip this dialog. If you will assign open pictures always in Gallery, it will never ask again. Maybe better to add choice to show that buttons again for certain content type. I will think about.

Yeah, but at the moment there is no way to set "always" with this mod, so a long press can be a good alternative instead of the normal dialog
There is a double tap picker for those who want to have the option of use always just in case http://repo.xposed.info/module/pl.suzume.xposed.doubletap

I released new version with configuration. Now you can set to display "Always" checkbox. It will work as expected = check and select app.
Version 1.2 released
I add new experimental layout style option. You can have Grid layout! You can even select how many columns - 2, 3, 4, 5 (crowded), 6 (maybe only for tablet). List layout is using AOSP smaller fonts.
Please remember to reboot after installing this update, then you can change style without rebooting. Make your choice and preview it with "Test it" button.

Strange. Maybe it's something interfering from another xposed module. But it is a first time when I see such alighning in any lists of my device.

MoDaCo Custom ROMs (MCRs) have always been based on the stock ROM for devices. I've recently switched my daily driver phone to a Nexus 6 and my daily driver tablet to a Nexus 9, giving me an opportunity to have a good play with Lollipop, the new Android release.
On the whole, the latest version of Android is fantastic, but as is often the case, I have seen a few opportunities for tweaks and improvements, which once again has started me thinking about MCRs, particularly with the loss of Xposed on Lollipop which had become the de-facto way to apply tweaks.
With this in mind, i've started looking at the best way to create and package modifications, and this modpack for the Nexus 5, 6 and 9 is the first step on that road.
Initially, the changes are purely to SystemUI. Only 2 files are changed, no wipe is needed if you already have an unlocked bootloader (stock certificates are retained). A 'MCR Control' application is included to configure the modifications.
Features (some are only available on specific devices / telephony enabled devices):
'MCR Control' configuration application
A one handed mode which moves the button towards the edge on the navigation bar - press and hold back or recents to toggle
Multiple battery level display options for status bar and lockscreen
Option to enable the stock Lollipop battery percent feature
Option to remove carrier label from lockscreen
Option to reverse order of navigation buttons
Option to retain network type indicators when roaming
Option to disable '4G for LTE' indicator
Option to disable orange colouring of status bar and navigation bar separately on battery saver
Option to hide clock
Option to centre clock
Option to disable icon when alarm is set
Option to ignore priority when determining whether to show heads up notifications
Option to disable heads up notifications altogether
Option to double tap status bar to sleep
Option to double tap navigation bar to sleep
Option to enable double tap to wake (requires root, be sure to auth SuperSU after clicking the box, applies a few seconds after each boot) - NEXUS 6 ONLY

To install:
Ensure your device is running STOCK LRX22C - use on any other ROM version will make bad things happen!
Download the zip file below
Install or boot TWRP using fastboot
Backup your stock system partition (you'll need to restore this to apply OTAs)
Push the modpack zip file to /sdcard
Install the zip file in the usual manner
Download:
r12 for Android 5.1 - DOWNLOAD
To revert to stock:
Restore your backup of the system partition!
To revert to stock if you didn't back up:
Download the correct factory image from your device from the Nexus Factory Images page
Extract the files (including the internal images zip)
Locate the system img file, reboot your device to bootloader and 'fastboot flash system system.img'
Boot to recovery and wipe the dalvik-cache
Future releases will add features, but as always MCR will be focused on adding features in a stock style way - you should wonder whether they are mods or whether they were always there.
Enjoy and let me know your thoughts!

Quite nice to see you here. Love the way you implemented only minimal but essential features. Will try out soon
Sounds good
Awesome! Has Been needed for a long time!!
This is great! Should be a fantastic alternative to some basic Xposed modules. Will have to try on my Nexus 5 and the Nexus 9 version when I get home.
Work great with xtrasmooth ROM ! Great work !

Nice. It's no GravityBox, but I understand how difficult that might be to do, so I appreciate your effort to even do this. One problem though, I don't have the double tap to wake option? My N5 is rooted. Does it require a specific kernel?
Even I would like to know if "double tap to wake" needs a custom kernel ?
It's mentioned that stock Lollipop is required so it would seem that custom kernel isn't needed.

It's not trying to be GravityBox, that hooks via Xposed many more apps besides SystemUI.

Sorry, DT2W is only in the N6 version currently. I'll make that clearer in the main post.

Hello, when I try to install this package it shows me the following:
Finding update package
Opening update package
Installing update
Not a HAMMERHEAD!
NOT a SHAMU!
Not a FLOUNDER!
and when I reboot I can't find the MCD control tool.. what should I do?
Nexus 5 running 5.0.1 stock ROM and ElementalX kernel.
Use TWRP...

Awesome, works really well.
Removal of the orange bars in battery saver is the biggest pro for me, I use it a lot and it used to bug me a lot.
Any chance we might see an extended power menu (reboot) in near future ?
Working great on both my Nexus 5 and 9! Any chance for a centered clock?
Is it possible to add network traffic indicator in your next release?
I have flashed r7 on xtrasmooth ROM and it works great!!!!!!!!
Awesome mod great work
@paulobrien So the double tab to wake can work on the Nexus 5 also or it needs a special kernel modification?
I mean will it ever be possible for the nexus 5 through this app ?
Great job, works perfect with xTraSmooth.
I can't download on my phone. That's my only option. Can a mirror be posted or someone share it with me thru pm

I have pulled the battery a ton of times. Just stays at the Kernel is not seandroid enforcing screen. If I pull the battery nothing happens, if I let it sit it will reboot to recovery after around 2 mins.
Do other camera's apps work? Or, the camera isn't working at all?
I would love to have this rom, but I just became a Grandpa 3 days ago and I need a working camera!
Thanks for this!
Any chance can just get the camera apj4 from lollipop v2 and put it on system file on this rom? Still downloading :/
Yes I jus wanna know can any camera be used

I have pulled the battery multiple times when phone reboots it reboots into recovery. I have done multiple full wipes and the ROM does not boot up. Just continue to boot into recovery after about a minute.

Also confirming that this will not boot. Stuck on the Android boot animation for about 15 minutes. This is from a clean install. I am on my 3rd battery pull.
No boot here as well. Clean installed wiped, format, factory reset 5 times. Hangs at android logo..3 battery pulls and a reboot to recovery to wipe caches and still hangs..
Mine never made it past the kernel is not seandriod screen. Let it sit for 15 minutes before each battery pull

Yeah mines won't boot either. I'll just wait for v2, thanks for a great effort Sacs. No doubt it's going to develop into a great rom once you get the kinks worked out. ☺
I guess it's safe to say it won't boot

There aren't any options for that in crDroid
Hi, this ROM works beautifully!
Now i'm searching a way to disable the bottom fav apps dock and fully expand desktop/home.
I already make it immersive mode so navigation bar and status bar gone auto-hide using the SystemUI Tuner app. (problem is: bars dont works independent from each other.., u trigger one and the other bar trigger as well. On my old android i managed to do it using an xposed module, but now i can't sadly.)
Now the thing is: the dock still occupying that place empty and doesnt allow to desktop fully expand to the bottom.
I need that. To disable the bottom apps dock.
And if possible need to hide that apps drawer indicator and bottom line window indicator too. So my screen only shows the background image and icons (on second window) wtv i want to place them, from top to the real full bottom of the screen.
I don't want to use a third party launcher to accomplish all this, i want to keep the stuff simple (prefer not adding to much bloatware on this old phone so it still gets snappy without much lag).
There is anyway to do this? Maybe magisk module, script, modifying a system file (already have root) or wtv?
Thanks.
---
Another thing i miss from my previous android: the possibility to set as 'Home' any of my windows, so i can add a window to the left too.
Now i can add new windows to the right only. I got used to have my apps icons on my left windows...
If you know a fix to this will be welcome too. Thanks!

Another thing i miss from my previous android: the possibility to set as 'Home' any of my windows, so i can add a window to the left too.
Now i can add new windows to the right only. I got used to have my apps icons on my left windows...
If you know a fix to this will be welcome too. Thanks!

This is the default Trebuchet launcher. I won't change anything there. What you could do is use a custom launcher like Lawnchair or Nova Launcher

Ok. Thanks. Tried Nova Launcher and seems to do the job by now.
Now i found another problem: im trying to use NetGuard or Net Blocker and none works as they should.
They block all internet connections instead of allowing the ones i want.
This ROM is LOS based? Because ive read that LOS has a bug on that regard.. an error with the VPN function that prevents it from working.

Thanks.

Hi, you seem like a guy who gets what he wants in his android. Any chance, you ever tried to add middle shortcuts to the lockscreen? Example
Well, finally i get the firewall working but needed to use another app. The ones with VPN doesn't seems to work on this ROM because the LOS legacy.
So i used AFWall+, which uses root+iptables method instead of VPN way.
Now im done. All (kinda)working as it should on this old strong grandpa device. (❁´◡`❁)
