What do you guys think about it? I saw that android m is wayyyy better than android 5
Post your thoughts!!!
Well this is a dead post
It would be a good thing, but i really doubt that someone would work on that.
Lollipop isn't even near to be finished yet and there are only a few developers taking time to work on it.
So don't get ur hopes up...

Better not to get hopes up for obvious reasons.
I don't think someone will work on that, even if someone did it will be buggy/Unstable.
itll lack of some features

I've noticed a distinct lack of MIUI for the YP-G70 (Galaxy Player 5.0) Is there a reason for this? Because if there isn't, I'd like to give porting it a try. Would Supermaster's method of porting ROMs to the Galaxy Players work in this case? All feedback is welcome, but no trolling. There's a thread for that. *Some time in the future when I deem this ROM remotely usable I will post a thread for it in the dev section--fear not!*
EDIT: As it turns out, there is one MIUI ROM out there for the Player 5.0. Sadly, it is pretty old, so a new ROM entering the MIUI race might not be that bad.

We do have some MIUI ROMs, but development for them stopped a long time ago. I guess my porting method would work to get it booting, but there are likely to bre other issues which could be difficult to solve

I would LOVE to give back to this wonderful community. Adam Outler once said that there are three kinds of people in the Android community. Noobs, developers, and those willing to learn. I am of the third group. Eventually, I would LOVE to port FlymeOS to our player, though that would be a huge undertaking. Thank you so much for your response!

EDIT: If I were choosing a ROM to port, would it matter which device I choose to port this ROM from? Or should I choose the YP-G70's older cousin, the SGS?
the best option wuld be choosing sgs or nexus s for sure almost same hw.

I tryied porting MIUI using Super masters method but it didn't work. Mind you though I come in to the 3rd group you mentioned so I'm sure a dev could do it. But with all the Jelly Bean and Kernels going on I guess no ones had the time.
I loved miui on my previos phone, but paranoid android is for sure best rom on 5" screen.

Hello everybody,
I just open this thread to discuss about Android 4.4 KitKat for our lovely Novathor Devices
So here's my opinion:
I still have hope that Sony will update our Novathor Devices. Google announced that KitKat is fitting on 512MB devices well so it's not impossible Some people here lost theri hope on official updates from Sony but not me!
So what's your opinion about it?

Well, in my opinion, I've lost my hope...
But next week, SONY will release the 4.3/4.4 update plan.
We can still wait for it!!

THey wont update our phones. I dont even want the update from Sony. WIll take so long for them to provide a bugless 4.4 and im pretty sure our devs can provide a much better android experience.

Can they? Don't think so. Bluetooth & Wifi Tethering is an issue on every Dev-Rom. Well. If you don't need it... But i like the Stock 4.1.

I'm not putting hope on it that Sony will release an official update for our device.
Google itself won't update their Galaxy Nexus (http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/31/5051958/google-galaxy-nexus-will-not-be-upgraded-android-4-4-kit-kat) and its even more capable of running kitkat for it has 1Gb of ram...http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_nexus_i9250-4219.php
i will just wait for the wonderful works of the awesome developers here in xda
I would like an official update by Sony. It should cover things like floating touch and would bring my dead ICS XPeria Sola back to life. I'm not an optimist, let's hope I'm wrong.
don`t lost hope guys wait for dev. to release the latest ver. kitkat. its smother than sony update
hope my xsola will have 4.4 rom
We all hope that

Then you are most probably wrong. Stop hoping. Xperia U, Go, P and Sola will not get anymore updates:
-Novathor is dead, ST-Ericsson already closed its doors.
-Sony will rather focus it's resources on more expensive phones like Xperia S, T,Z and Z1 rather than low-mid range phones like Xperia U or Go.
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Yes, dont hope to get the official update from Sony. You will be disappointed. Also our devs don't have necessary drivers for our hardware, so it is difficult to make a fully working 4.4 Rom. Hope our devs here will make our devices run on 4.4 with only few acceptable issues.
Sent from my AOSP on Flo using Tapatalk
xperia p isnt that low range phone... Doesnt it have more possibilities to get kit kat?
dont think so that sony will update our devices ... but some great devs will surely bring the KitKat taste
Hope they will build a pure AOSP Rom ?

I dont think that Sony will update to 4.4 nivathor devices... But I am hoping for a porting !

If Sony didn't even updated their last year's flagship models, why would they update midrange phones? Even Google themselves won't update the Galaxy Nexus, even though it's more than capable to run Kit Kat.
Hmm maybe Android 4.4 KitKat isn't all about lower requirement. Maybe its Android 5.0 that we waiting and they should name it Android 5.0 LEPO (LOW END PHONE ONLY)

That would be awesome! Just a special version for low-end devices. But this also needs developing and time

If they had one sony would not roll it out. We are out of their update support. We receive only bug fixes.

Hey guys!
Just wondering, how is sony on upgrading there devices to the newest versions of android? Prolonging the life of my phone is important for me and the longevity of the phone in terms of software updates/ROMS is going to be my deciding factor between the one m8 and the z2 (even though yes, I know, the Z2 has a superior camera but I would like to have the newest versions of android). Im lead to believe that the Z1 has not received a 4.4.2 update from Sony but that there are a small amount of 4.4.2 roms? I also saw that the Z1 has a very very small amount of roms which got me worried about he Z2's development community? Please comment!
Z1 has 4.4.2 now. Z2 comes with it also. However, Sony historically is late with updates.
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
That actually changed recently. Sony was pretty quick with the updates and some older/low tier devices are also getting updated.
Just take a look at Z1 update history.

How's the development sector though? Is it atleast guaranteed to have roms for the next 3+ android updates?
Maybe late but than you don't have problems. Samsung ist fast but always with problems.
Gesendet von meinem D6503 mit Tapatalk
Sorry I beg to differ that Samsung is fast. Both note 2 and note 3 are still waiting for the KitKat updates. In fact, note 2 only received the 4.3 update end of last year.
So Samsung is fast with its flagship[emoji6]

Don't let HTC fool you either. They're fast to release their updates lately, but with lots of problems that take several updates to correct (if at all).
At end of day all of them are the same. Some do it fast with problems and some are late.

I am on 5.1.1 COH4 and it's running mote stable, faster, snappier and just everything is so much better then the old versions of android so why are people still stuck in the old versions and developing???
Why isn't some Developer or anyone with the knowhow porting the note 5 spen to note 4 5.1.1 COH4 ?
There must be some of these people using 5.1.1 ?
Also is anyone working on porting note 5 rom over ?
I am willing to be a test subject if needed...

And the app alone? I don't want to change the ROM for one feature, since I did it for another ROM yesterday.

It don't work for 5.1.1
Oh man it's like being cursed for running 5.1.1 ?
Every one else is stuck in the stone age on old systems. I don't get it why everyone still runs 5.0.1 and below when 5.1.1 is so fast and smoth. It's like all car part factory's starting to make spare parts for a car that's going for scraps and ignoring the newer models. ?
They need time.
