Hey guys!
Just wondering, how is sony on upgrading there devices to the newest versions of android? Prolonging the life of my phone is important for me and the longevity of the phone in terms of software updates/ROMS is going to be my deciding factor between the one m8 and the z2 (even though yes, I know, the Z2 has a superior camera but I would like to have the newest versions of android). Im lead to believe that the Z1 has not received a 4.4.2 update from Sony but that there are a small amount of 4.4.2 roms? I also saw that the Z1 has a very very small amount of roms which got me worried about he Z2's development community? Please comment!
Z1 has 4.4.2 now. Z2 comes with it also. However, Sony historically is late with updates.

That actually changed recently. Sony was pretty quick with the updates and some older/low tier devices are also getting updated.
Just take a look at Z1 update history.

How's the development sector though? Is it atleast guaranteed to have roms for the next 3+ android updates?
Maybe late but than you don't have problems. Samsung ist fast but always with problems.

Sorry I beg to differ that Samsung is fast. Both note 2 and note 3 are still waiting for the KitKat updates. In fact, note 2 only received the 4.3 update end of last year.
So Samsung is fast with its flagship[emoji6]

Don't let HTC fool you either. They're fast to release their updates lately, but with lots of problems that take several updates to correct (if at all).
At end of day all of them are the same. Some do it fast with problems and some are late.

They announced the start of the process - not that you will find it for your phone immediately. I've seen Sony update a few of my Android phones, it can take up to a few weeks.
1. If your phone is unbranded - not originally owned by a network, then you will get it much sooner, earlier than everyone else.
Many people with the Xperia GO are reporting having the update already, I think we'll have it before mid-next week at the latest, but that's just my opinion.
The few threads that will likely have the news before all others are:

Xperia sola update for Europe was announced for the 4th of October, don't know about other countries.
(for unbranded that is)

Hi, where did you read that, can I ask?
One one country gets the update, an FTF will be uploaded here, we're unlikely to have to wait until that date, thankfully!
hi first off this might be a dumb question but im new to android and dont know anything about it yet lol so yeah please bare with me
i bought a sony xperia mini pro yesterday and when i plugged it into my computer it said that android 4.0 was available for update. i would like to know if its safe to do this, or if there are any risks or anything. im not gonna do all that flashing and rom and all that im just gonna use the sony pc companion that came with the phone. so yeah any information on this would be great thanks
It will be a huge improvement

No risk in here, you don't even loose your warranty as you are using the official programm.
Android 4.0 will be a huge improvement. Just do the Update

I have updated 5 phones, and got no problems.
It looks like on some phones android 4 is not so fast as google said, and previous firmware version is more fast and stable. (IMHO)
As the title says,I wanted to ask,if the One Kernels can be flashed on the One Max? Am asking cause it has the same CPU,GPU and so on...

i initially thought since they have almost the same hardware it can be done, however anandtech's review suggested that there is a different WiFi Chip in one MAX compared to the One which i guess would be a deal breaker.
That said, given the major of the components are same, it should not be tough for someone to just repack/rebuild the kernel for One MAX referring to the source codes from One.
On date, i don't think there is any kernel for 4.3 since HTC has not released the kernel sources for any of the device.
Hi i know nexus one is a bit old but i Want to see Android 5 on it it has 1 ghz cpu and half a gig of ram but Galaxy s plus have this too and it has Android 5 and HTC HD 2 has even the same CPU and it has Android 5.
SO DON´T LET THIS AWESOME PHONE DIE.
Pls. help me to port it
I'd love to see it happen and would help where I could but I'm kind of swamped with different projects at the moment. I'm not sure what your experience level is but you'd need a capable kernel developer to get anything working.

Thats exactly why i asked i need someone with Kernel Skills to port 3.0 Kernel maybe it would work with the desire 3.0 kernel

as far as porting goes I've done a few successful ports i could try but I'd need someone to test also a compatible hboot and recovery and a kernel.

OK, so we need a better communication platform to make it easier to update each other.
If you're on WhatsApp leave me your number plus international dialing code but if you feel uncomfortable leave me your Facebook name.
PM me all the details.
So cool to see N1 still getting interest lol

I really liked RN4 and I've ordered one for myeself today.
I've been sneaking here from past two weeks reading treads and stuff.
My Redmi 2 got lineage 14 Officially but I'm still on cm13 Dec build just for the sake of xposed and its modules beacuse i'm too much dependant on them.
I was surprised to see that not a single 6.x.x rom is available for mido and people not even talking about it.
Is any dev is up for it? Just for the sake of xposed untill rovo89 releases it for 7.x.
I would have tried myself but my internet is too slow to download sources and stuff and I dont get much time too.
Thank you to all devs who are already using their precious time for development but I request you to build at least lineage 13 builds weekly etc for mido

Sorry, I can't.
I don't use xposed and don't know much about it. I read about magisk. Perhaps that is what you need?
