They announced the start of the process - not that you will find it for your phone immediately. I've seen Sony update a few of my Android phones, it can take up to a few weeks.
1. If your phone is unbranded - not originally owned by a network, then you will get it much sooner, earlier than everyone else.
Many people with the Xperia GO are reporting having the update already, I think we'll have it before mid-next week at the latest, but that's just my opinion.
The few threads that will likely have the news before all others are:

Xperia sola update for Europe was announced for the 4th of October, don't know about other countries.
(for unbranded that is)

Hi, where did you read that, can I ask?
One one country gets the update, an FTF will be uploaded here, we're unlikely to have to wait until that date, thankfully!

The Sony homepage has removed the link to info on ics updates, fingers crossed it's a sign of imminent release.

I hope so...waiting.
The ICS update for Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray is come at the end of March/early April 2012. And this is here.
The second wave will begin from the end April or the start of May 2012. So, Xperia Neo users need to wait for about a month.

Second wave? There's still no first wave
@all: as soon as you convince yourself that it will be late, it will be better for you. after all, all you can get is a surprise if it comes any time sooner than you thought
they are always late, not sure why you all thought it will be right on time this time.

I know, this is old news, but this is only a reaction for mpiekp's post. March is over, but April not begin.

The first wave is comming.
But at the moment, there is no certified SW for Neo V, Arc S or Ray in PTCRB. The last is 4.0.2.A.0.69, which comes in February.

Well Sony is known to be late in fw updating anyway.Btw I don't get whats with all this cannot wait till we get ICS from sony, tbh I didn't saw much improved in ICS beta rom comparing to gingerbread stock rom. Also there are other better ICS variants like MIUI,CM9 there to use if you need ICS that much and you cannot simply wait anymore that your head is gonna explode thinking about ICS
Even after Sony releasing it don't expect it to be 100% stable and bug free guys,it will take some time for Sony to release a stable ICS rom for each model,if they succeed releasing a fully working bug free ICS on first go then that might be a miracle imho.
Well i hope that they will release official ICS rom for our phones soon. The current gingerbread rom that i use (.62 build) is very stable and fast but the new features of gingerbread will be useful. What is suspicious is that it is the end of march already and there is nothing certified in ptcrb. I hope that the acquisition of Sony Ericsson by sony will not result in delay of the update for the xperia 2011 devices. After all they already released alpha and beta ICS rom so the final one should be close. Let's hope.
ICS beta was not so stable as we thought, but yes it was/is a beta, and Sony have telling that if you read good enough, they will work on the final to get more stabilty and looking where the problems can be for lag etc, so i think that the final ICS have more stability
then the beta, thats why they needed time to fix it
I hope you understand me.

I think, Sony developers (or other Sony workers) are monitoring XDA and the ROMs from ICS Beta sources. It helps them to make the final firmware more stable and fastest.

It was obvious though. Why would they remove it if they were going to release on time (or early)
No company would ever remove it just because it was released. Unless they did it late

[Q] Release on SonyStyle.com

Anyone know when this phone (or any other of the series such as the Xperia P) will be availalble officially in the US on SonyStyle.com. Right now all there is is the old Sony Ericsson phones on that website. Want to buy from SonyStyle USA as it will be the cheapest vs importing and US warranty and they sell them unbranded too .
Not sure when. But, it seems that Sony regards the U.S. consumer as second class citizens. We wait for circa 4-6 months after the global release of a certain model before we can get it here in the U.S.A.
I wonder if we have to wait for them to clear out the old Sony Ericsson stock before they will sell the new models. I found out the currenty inventory numbers for SonyStyle.com.
Arc S Black-6
Arc S Blue-4
Arc S White-35
Arc S Silver-1
Neo V-98
Pro-0 (Out of Stock)
Mini Pro Black-12
Mini Pro White-1
Play 4G (AT&T Branded)-28
Anyone know if all the Sony Ericsson phones are out of production? I sure would hate to see them get more stock of these models
I'll double check but I believe it was coming out in the US in June or July. I'll double check for you.

Xperia S - July 13
Xperia P - Should be anyday. Just waiting on shipment to come in.

Why wait? Buy the device on import unlocked and have it with in a few days to a week, the warranty is standard across most countries.
Had mine near 3 months before it came out in AUS, direct from china and 3 days delivery.

Xperia U - ICS ?

when it comes to the ICS update for the Xperia U ?? Does not show me update on my phone or PC :/ .. Why ??
Many users have sayed that ICS will be out early September. But who knows, Sony sucks at making updates to their phones, so there is possibility that it will newer come. Maybe that will help ya: http://www.ptcrb.com/vendor/complete/view_complete_request_guest.cfm?modelid=21036

pipi14, i must congratulate with you for writing the dumbest comment on the entire forum... According to what you said sony could never release a firmware that has been already certificated (this mean tested). Besides, if you carefully read the box in which your phone was when you bought it you'll find "android 4.0 upgradable" on it.
Last thing: google itself described sony as the best manufacter in upgrading its handset to ICS (all 2011 xperia have ICS). Samsung upgrades only the flagship, htc says that phones like the htc desire will be updated and then cancels the update (but launches phone like the desire C with ICS and 600mhz processor .-.) and LG... well, lg don't upgrade at all

Does xperia sola will receive the JB update?

In the official sony news JB update the xperia sola is not mentioned is that mean that the phone will not receive update? in the techclave it says that the update will be on this coming december but on the other sites they said that it maybe false.
There are rumors that it will have it, but lets hope and see.
It will ( positivity speaking out of me)
But surely not in December
Sony week ago confirmed that all xperia 2012 models will get 4. 1 in December. The update was ready in November but xperia sola floating touch needs more testing. That news you speak about was misinterpreted. It does not mean that xperia sold won't get jb. It meant that jb for sola was not ready yet. Sony published clarification, if you're eager, you will find it.

Xperia Z2 Software Upgrades

Hey guys!
Just wondering, how is sony on upgrading there devices to the newest versions of android? Prolonging the life of my phone is important for me and the longevity of the phone in terms of software updates/ROMS is going to be my deciding factor between the one m8 and the z2 (even though yes, I know, the Z2 has a superior camera but I would like to have the newest versions of android). Im lead to believe that the Z1 has not received a 4.4.2 update from Sony but that there are a small amount of 4.4.2 roms? I also saw that the Z1 has a very very small amount of roms which got me worried about he Z2's development community? Please comment!
Z1 has 4.4.2 now. Z2 comes with it also. However, Sony historically is late with updates.
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
That actually changed recently. Sony was pretty quick with the updates and some older/low tier devices are also getting updated.
Just take a look at Z1 update history.
Wysłane z mojego C6903 przy użyciu Tapatalka
How's the development sector though? Is it atleast guaranteed to have roms for the next 3+ android updates?
Maybe late but than you don't have problems. Samsung ist fast but always with problems.
Gesendet von meinem D6503 mit Tapatalk
Sorry I beg to differ that Samsung is fast. Both note 2 and note 3 are still waiting for the KitKat updates. In fact, note 2 only received the 4.3 update end of last year.
So Samsung is fast with its flagship[emoji6]

Don't let HTC fool you either. They're fast to release their updates lately, but with lots of problems that take several updates to correct (if at all).
At end of day all of them are the same. Some do it fast with problems and some are late.
