Hi, I'm probably going to be exchanging my phone today and was wondering if there is any tool to perform a low level format so that my data isn't recoverable. Thanks.

[Q] Design flaw? Why is internal storage wiped out when flashing firmware?

I have an Samsung Galaxy S2 handphone and I feel Samsung has got this right with the design of its internal storage.
For Transformer Prime, when we need to flash firmware or we send it for servicing, all the internal storage will be wiped out. Why is there a need to wipe out internal sdcard storage?
I'm trying to understand this and also because my Transformer Prime just died and I had to send it for repair. They said that they will have no choice but to wipe up all data to do testing. All my precious pictures and videos taken the day before are gone.
For SGS2, the internal sdcard storage is treated as an 'external storage'. When you flash firmware because of sudden crash in OS or anything like that, it doesn't touch the internal sdcard, much like residing in a seperate partition or hdd in a desktop.
Why then do asus has to wipe out the internal sdcard everytime they need to factory reset? Does it reconfigure the internal partition?
We never know when the OS will crash so sometimes, daily backups might also not be enough.
I may be wrong but can someone clarify?
Thanks in advance.

they will probably use nvflash/apx to recover it, thus all partitions will be wiped and rebuilt.
Advice for you: don't trust completely on one way of storage, always backup important stuff elsewhere.

[Q] Damaged Phone Storage - Need Help

Need help/advice. I updated my phone with the newest Fresh Evo LTE 5.3.1 and the radio firmware. And after rebooting...noticed the Damaged Phone Storage notification. At first I thought it was no big deal cause it was the micro sd card. But then I found out it is the data/second partition on the internal phone storage. I tried to erase the phone storage...but that does not work. I am thinking of trying to restore back to stock and hoping the stock image restores the second partition.
Do you know what might of happened? And any options on trying to fix this problem?
You most likely need to reformat it. Best method so far seems to be booting into twrp and mounting the internal sd to PC and formatting it. Unless there's another cause, I don't know of any issues so it would help to wait for someone who has has to deal with anything similar before taking my advice

Thanks that worked...mounting to my PC in TWRP and formatting. Lost all my pictures and videos...will teach me for not syncing to one of those cloud storage services
Just make it a habit to back up your cards. Its always a good habit to back everything up
this just happened to me after a hard reset...can you show the exact steps i cant seem to figure out how to mount this?
Reboot to TWRP and look for mount, make sure it's set to internal and mount storage, in Windows a dialog should pop up saying that the card needs to be formatted
my phone is samsung a9 . ihave found that my phone storage is reduced from 127 gb to 7.95 gb and my sd card got damaged what can i do for this

[Q] Increse system partition galaxy S2G

Hi I would like to increase the stock rom (version 4.0.4) system partitions.
How can I do that?
Thank in advanace
bump
no, if you tried you would end up bricking your phone. Playing with the partitioning on phone is only done in extereme cases to fix a soft bricked phone. Not to gain extra space.
use an external sdcard and transfer files to that.
Thank you, If put a cyamogen rom is it going to solve the issue?
what issue are you trying to resolve. more information is need.
It's said that the system partition is full because the system partition on SGS2 is 512MB and i would like to increase it to 1024MB

[Q] Phone Stuck In Boot Loop

Hi I have an SG3 was complaining about low memory, remove apps.
It was then rebooted and now it is stuck in a boot loop.
How can i get it back without losing picture and videos off of the internal SD?
Any help greatly appreciated, have some very important pictures of our little girl on there and dont want to lose them.
Cheers
Wayne
Internal sd is not the place to store important data, it can't be mined for data like an external one and can be wiped by nand corruption.
Try flashing the exact same firmware version in recovery without a wipe, that might allow your phone to boot, or use ADB/Aroma to pull data in recovery to your pc.
