I hope someone can try to root HTC EVO 3D 3.28.707.1 HBOOT 1.53.0007 seems most EVO 3D already received their OTA update to Android 4.0.3 and want to use the latest panoramic camera feature hence required rooting.
I had updated my HTC Evo 3D OTA from 2.3.3 to Android 4.0.3 software version 3.28.707.1 then unlocked it using HTC Method. Unlock success than I flashed recovery with CWM Shooter. Flash success but when I load recovery, the phone just boot up normally. CWM screen not loaded to load custom ROM.
Option 1. ROM Manager says:
You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su". Use Google Search on your computer to find instruction to root your phone.
Option 2. Superuser apps says:
su binary not found
Option 3. SuperOneClick v2.3.1
Stuck at Step 7. No respond at all.
And, at the command "CheckIfRooted" my device gave result 'false'.
I already tried USB debugging mode, and flash with other .img with other version of CWM. Still not working. Is there any other method to gain superuser access?
Hi guys, I rooted my flyer last week via HTC site, I installed Rom manager but it says my flyer is not rooted. Any suggestions? I also want to enable the phone option, can someone help?
I dl root checker and it said it's not rooted properly. Help!
HTCDev.com unlocks the bootloader. This isn't the same as root.
From here, you need to install CWM. Then you can flash SU or a rooted ROM.
he is right here is a link on how to do that http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18508210&postcount=1

Hey All -
I made a post a couple of days ago about the best way to wipe my phone and all folders / files except what's needed to run it. I'm not selling it, just want to start all over from scratch again 100%.
My post was answered by a suggestion to install HTC's "HTC One Maintenance Release" / RUU. I was told doing this would bring it back to factory and I'd even have to re-root.
Today, I made a full backup of everything and ran it. Unfortunately, it failed with error 155. I tried all troubleshooting steps without luck, but am confident the reason it failed was due to the RUU being older than my ROM as you can see in the attached picture.
If this is the best method to wipe my device, any suggestions on how to get it working? If you have another method to suggest, I'm all ears. Below are the specs I'm running right now:
Phone Specs
- HTC One (AT&T)
- Rooted
- S-OFF
- ViperOne 4.3.0 / Android 4.4 / HTC Sense 5.5 / HTC Sense SDK 5.65
- Build Number 4.06.1540.3
- TWRP
- Kernel 3.4.10
After wipe, I plan to re-root (if needed), then install Viper 5.0.0 ROM.
Thanks!
Did you lock the bootloader ?
Your s-off you can flash any RUU you choose

You need to revert to Hboot 1.44
Most guides don't include this, idk why as I've never gotten it to work without reverting to Hboot 1.44
It will give the same error 155 unless you flash Hboot 1.44

I have hboot 155 and got it to work. I had to flash stock recovery first though.

That may have been my problem then, I had custom recovery. Weird though downgrading hboot worked

I had the exact same problem on my AT&T HTC One (sim-unlocked). My device came with Android 4.3. I tried OTA update, but as I am currently outside USA and on different carrier, I didn't get any OTA update. I tried to flash the Android 4.4 RUU exe, but every time it returned the error you stated, although my device was 100% stock. However, I have found a solution, you can try that.
I've tried unsuccessfully, to gain root, or be able to use the su shine app to gain S-off. My phone is unlocked through HTC Dev, and now I'm stuck. Sunshine fails when it gets to trying to temp root, and won't go any further. Anyone have any ideas? Am I missing something?
HTC ONE M9 through AT&T
