Hi everyone, I have a serious problem about my GSII.
so first of all, when CyanogenMod 12.1 Nightlies come, I am excited to flash it.
but after i download it and flash it. it seems ok. on recovery (CWM Kikat compatible) while it installs, it says
Detected filesystem ext4 for /dev/block/mmcblk0p9 which is /system right?
and
Detected filesystem ext4 for /dev/block/mmcblk0p10 which is /data right?
then it shows
Script succeeded (0.200000)
after that i wipe the data and cache and the dalvik and reboot
after rebooting. its ok, no problem at all.
now i go back to recovery (cyanogenmod recovery, so it changes) and flash PA GApps Mini Package, (yes i have it one i did'nt delete the last PA GApps)
so... after flashing i forget if there is an error or something. but after i reboot. it stuck on Samsung Galaxy SII logo. (NOT A BOOTLOOP)
after that i decided to revert it to stock rom but it did'nt work. i don't know whats happening but i think because of the PIT Mod. i use the PIT Mod to install Bigger GApps on unofficial cyanogenmod 12 by Lysergic Acid. so i think this is the problem is the Modified PIT file.
Can someone help me to Fix my problem? Im very thankful for the one who helps me.

If you can boot to download mode(volume down +power+ home), then follow this tutorial to restore your phone: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/samsung-galaxys2-i9100-unroot-official-jellybean-firmware-460777
Then root your phone and flash the kk recovery and flash the ROM, GApps. Cyanogen Recovery is having hell lot of problems.

for the one who knows...
I'm trying to install stock rom on 2nd rom(with Siyah dual boot) but i keep getting stuck at bootlogo.
Here's what i did:
I'm running ParanoidAndroid latest version and Siyah latest version
I created the 2nd rom in CWM
I cloned 1st rom to 2nd rom(succesfully)
Then i flashed the original stock rom with Mobile Odin and the i get stuck. It reboots and gets stuck at bootlogo. I flash Siyah kernel trough PC Odin and it starts up but i still have PA on both sides.
Anyone knows if it is possible what im trying to do?
Thanx in advance and sorry if its in the wrong forum,
0. Format /system, /data, /cache and delete .secondrom folder from internal sdcard
1. Flash stock FW with Odin
2. Flash Siyah Kernel
3. Enter to CWM
a) clone 1st ROM to 2nd
b) format /system, /data, /cache of 1st ROM
c) Flash Paranoid as 1st.
It should work.
Thnx for the answer but that's the other way around(starting from scratch)
I know for sure that way wil work but i wanted to avoid formatting and just install stock as 2nd rom.
Allready tought about it but i was wondering if there was an other way so that i dont have to install everything all over again.
I think you can't do this w/o format.

Hello people
I recently tried installing CyanogenMod 10 on my intl Galaxy Player 5.0.

Some things about my phone:
I recently rooted it and i am able to enter download or recovery mode, i have the intl model and im currently running:
This ROM:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623529
And this KERNEL:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414565
Everytime i get an assert failed error (yes formatting does not help.....) and when installing the kernel within the thread i bricked my phone....
I was able to recover it but i dont wanna brick my phone again so any help and/or detailted instructions how to get that rom installed would be appreciated.
When i was trying to flash, thought it was with Odin. My programme crashed upon NaNDwrite....
Thanks in advance, hope someone can help me out!

Umm, if I'm understanding correctly, you installed the ROM- CM10, that is- and/or kernel via Odin. CM10 and the Mercurius kernel are zip files (.tar, .pit and the like are for Odin, not zips...if I understood correctly).
You want to place the ROM and the GAPPS zips on your actual SD card. Make sure the SD card is working properly. Reset and go to CWM (Power+Vol up).
Then, accd to the instructions on the CM10 page:
"Installation:
Reboot to CWM
Make a Nandroid (optional, but recommended)
Format /system if you had a different GApps package installed
Install ROM
Install GAPPS if you just formatted /system
Wipe data/factory reset if you are coming from Gingerbread
Reboot
??? (wait a while...)
Profit"
I'd say make a backup before doing any of this, but I'm assuming you're beyond that point....But before going on to CM10, it might be a good idea to recover your device first and back it up. Maybe flash a GB rom via CWM or Odin before proceeding to CM10, making a backup just in case...
Ok

Just flash CM10 kernel zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2109674
from CWM5 and then reboot CMW and you will have CWM6..then just install CM10 rom.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
would he have to flash the kernel first, though? I'm unfamiliar with rjs, but am assuming that rjs version of CWM would be identical to entropys version of CWM, which means that he could just flash the CM10 ROM since it has the kernel baked in.
When I upgraded from Chip -> CM10, I just flashed via CWM, upgrading both the ROM and CWM in the process.

I remember Dkonzig mentioning this, that the path to JB was through ICS, but for my US device, I just flashed directly to GB. I remember another Int'l GB user who flashed directly to JB and was fine. this is peculiar.
so two methods to choose from, I suppose.
Hi All,
I recently updated my stock i9100 to CM11 M11 and I want to check if I have done all the steps correctly or if I have missed any steps out.
I first copied these four files onto a micro sd card:
PhilZ-cwm6-XWLSW-XEU-5.06.1-signed.zip
If you are following these instructions then use the correct PhilZ kernel for your stock kernel version. This is explained in the linked post.
ClockWorkMod Recovery v6.0.5.1 - Recovery_CWM_6.0.4.7_I9100.zip
Cyanogen Mod 11 M11 - cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-i9100.zip
Google Apps (Small) - gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip
Then I:
Boot into stock recovery (volume up+home+power)
Install PhilZ-cwm6-XWLSW-XEU-5.06.1-signed.zip
Reboot into Philz recovery
Do a full Backup including the Preload folder by using the Custom Backup feature
Install ClockWorkMod Recovery v6.0.5.1
Reboot into CWM
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced>Wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and Storage>Format /system, Format /cache, Format /storage/sdcard0, Format /boot
Install cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-i9100.zip
Install gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip
Reboot and all done.
Optional Step: Flash a newer modem,
Download XXMS4 modem - modem_XXMS4.zip
Copy above zip file to SD Card
Boot into CWM Recovery and flash the modem zip file
Reboot
I found that the above newer modem slightly improved call quality and mobile download speed.
Note: Do not change RIL.
Have I done everything correctly? Have I missed anything?
I do have two issues,
When I tried - Mounts and Storage>Format /preload - it didn't work. I can't remember what the error was but it woudn't format the preload in CWMR
Memory only shows up as 791MB in About Phone.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!
You did well. More than enough.
No need to format partitions, so just ignore the error.
Memory reported is usable memory. It is ok.
Have fun with the new rom.

I had been putting off installing a custom rom and living with my laggy stock because I thought it would be tricky to install CM11, turned out it was quite simple one I figured out the correct instructions.
I'd advise anyone it give it a try!
When you have time give AOSP NeatRom a try. Is is based on Slim Rom and is the one I use.
Here is the link: [ROM][Sep 25][4.4.4] I9100 AOSP NeatROM.
Happy flashing...
Is it easier (and just as good) to use CyanogenMod Installer to install CM on the i9100?

@oldgalaxy hey, just got that i9100 device from my friend with all stock and laggy... ?
Your question was already an answer for me. I always prefer oldschool ways though they are harder. Followed your steps and... voila... Now I'm fast and stable. ??
But I was kinda curious whether it is really easier to install CM with their installer app. ?
Thanks man...

Not too sure about the CM installer, but I didn't use it because I wanted to be sure of all the steps I am doing because of the i9100 kernel bug that can hard brick the phone.

Hi,
I also just got a laggy SGS2 from a friend of mine.
And I want to reset/flash the phone in order to give it to my mother, which ROM do recommend CM11 or any other ROM (MIUI ?) ?
I would prefer to have something stable.
For CM, I saw that the last stable img was for CM10.
Thanks in advance.

An additional optional step I recently did was to flash a newer modem (don't change the RIL).
I found this slightly improved call quality and mobile download speeds. The modem I flashed was XXMS4.
i have good signal and pretty ok call quality, however, it heats up moderately when using the internet..near the camera, i think i had this problem on stock rom also..signal is good full bars outside. but i wud give the modem a try n I'm completely noob on this topic..what is RIL and how do i flash this? can i flash using cwm? also can i back up my current modem? and changing modem cause any damage to phone? ty oldgalaxy, this m11 rom is good, no need pc, no need root to install it, perfectly fine procedure
WiFi always on on battery status
I'm new here and also decided to leave stock ROM how ever my battery is draining in 4 hours.... And I checkd battery status and WiFi is shwoing activity all the time but is of.... Can anyone help me?
Also if I turn the phone off and don't use the WiFi it doesn't show activity on battery status
Sorry for my english
Thanks
I am ready to install...
I downloaded all the required things to try your steps. I will try it tomorrow.
I just want to know if I need to upgrade the modem or leave it as it is? Kindly confirm.
Thanks,
Sadiq
Hi all, first off. Thanks to all devs and the XDA team for providing an invaluable resource which has provided me with the information to successfully flash all of my phones over the years.
TL;DR : CM13 Flash > Repartition > Can't flash gapps using CMRecovery > Factory reset+cache wipe > Stuck in Bootloop > reflashed Lanchon TRIM IsoRec > Still stuck in Bootloop.
I've encountered a problem which I'll try to detail as best as possible.
I wanted to upgrade my S2 i1900 to the latest Cyanogenmod, going from v11 (4.4.4) to v13 (6.0.1). I did this successfully, however I neglected to repartition the device as instructed which left me without gapps.
So I went back and attempted to repartition the device using Odin. The partition was successful. I then attempted to flash gapps using the native CM Recovery. Suprise, surprise I was unable to, needing to instead use either CWM or TWRP.
Whilst in the CMRecovery I wiped cache and performed a factory reset. I am now stuck on the CM loading screen. I did wait and wait and wait as is custom for first boots but I find myself locked in the dreaded bootloop.
I reflashed the IsoRec Tar file for CM13 with no luck or change. I know I'm missing something, I just can't put my finger on it...
Thanks,
Reflashed to stock partition using Odin:
kernel-Lanchon-TRIM-IsoRec-20160207-cm-13.0-i9100-for-ODIN.tar
and
I9100_STOCK-System_2GB-Data_512MB-Preload.pit
Still stuck in bootloop/softbrick.
Hi,
You are using the wrong pit file, that's why gapps can't be flashed.
You need to use a pit file with 1GB system partition.
gsstudios
Hi, thanks for the reply.
The issue isn't with the gapps package, I was well aware before upgrading to CM13 that the 5XXmb (Stock) system partition .pits would not suffice if i wanted both CM13 and gapps. The issue is I have soft bricked my S2 with CM13 bootloop.

I assume that you know that CM recovery in CM13 is broken?
You should be using TWRP for your recovery, making sure to wipe system, data and cache. (Backup as always).
Isorec kernel is not required on CM13. Just flash TWRP (see thread for more details).
There is also a CM13 upgrade guide I made that should help solve 99% of these issues.

You are looking at the wrong thing.
Scroll down until you see " If you forgot to flash Isorec Recovery when upgrading, this is what you can do:"
Try the ADB Sideload method first. If that doesn't work, try the terminal method. If you are following the second method, you need to follow the flashing guide again, but making sure to flash TWRP here. You only need to flash the TWRP isorec recovery and not the kernel itself.
gsstudios
Sorry, but I don't think you've read any of my posts properly.
I can't do ADB Sideload as I can't get into CMRecovery, after following your guide that "fixes 99% of problems".
I can't do the terminal method either because I can't get into the ROM, as I'm softbricked; stuck on the CM13 bootloop.
The only thing I now have access to is the Download mode.
Out of frustration I kept spamming the recovery (vol up+home+power) and managed to boot into TWRP v2.8.7.0
If i follow your guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...es/guide-want-to-update-to-cm13-read-t3313978
From "If you require to use Gapps, make sure to re-partition your phone now if you haven't done so! This can be done by following one of the guides linked in the Gapps section" onwards, I should be ok, correct?

So I'm guessing that the "8 Counts" if from me flashing data and its getting piled on top of each other. I've tried using the "nand erase all" option but that fails as well.

Download it here: (Android File Host link) or here: Mega link. This is a 3-part firmware. It will wipe your device as it flashes, and in many cases this extra wipe while flashing contributes to a successful flash. To set this file up in Odin (as it is 3 parts): PDA = CODE_I9100XXLSJ.tar, PHONE = MODEM_I9100XXLS6.tar, and CSC = CSC_HOME_OXX_I9100OXXLS1.tar. As usual, do not tick 'repartition'.

Thank you gsstudios for your time and patience, I'll reattempt the upgrade to CM13 when I have the patience again.

Try using this guide:
[GUIDE][Troubleshoot a failed Odin flash]
Usually write failures usually mean that your device has been bricked. However, it is necessary to test every other method before drawing this conclusion.
Maybe try stock pit file.

TL;DR 1 - Can't root Galaxy S2 gt-i9100? Use Siyah CWM Recovery.
TL;DR2 - Stock CM13 Recovery appears to be working.
Hi Gsstudios, thought you might like to know my progress.
I came across a problem with the JB firmware I used to recover my phone in that I couldn't gain root. I tried KingoRoot and the update.zip method from CWM and TWRP. But either root would only be temporary until I rebooted the phone, or the update.zip refused to flash entirely. I also could not find a ChainFire fix for my specific ROM. I ended up using Siyah's CWM recovery.
Whilst Siyah's CWM recovery granted me root apps like rootchecker would not recognise it. The warning triangle at launch said otherwise! So I risked it and followed your guide from that start. CM13 was flashed successfully, but again I forgot to flash gapps. On reboot to recovery I was greeted with CM13Recovery. I flashed gapps, reboot to OS and received a tonne of errors. Went back to CM13Recovery wiped everything, reflashed CM13 & gapps using CM13Recovery!!
And hey presto! Everything is working again and now on A-M6.0.1
My mother uses the stock i9100, form the french provider buygues, kernel 3.0.31, and want the update android 6 for this phone. I do not know much about android, and all the information here is in english so it is even harder to figure what files to download.
I went to the official thread for cm13, but they do not say how to start from stock. they say that I need some stock rom+root, like the closed thread here, but the files are deleted by a moderator,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/guide-26-12-flash-stock-firmware-rom-t2365701
I downloaded odin and the samsung drivers, then the latest official cm13. i work on windows 8.1
So where do I get the files to root the phone on android 4.1.2, then I guess the recovery twrp in order to install cm13 ?
I won't give you detailed infos because i just don't remember them well anymore.
But the basic workflow AFAIR is to root the phone, have a custom kernel which support your rom AND iso rec twrp (i think Dorimanx should do).
Then you need to repartition your phone using Lanchon method, but to do so you need to flash iso rec twrp. Then you flash the Lanchon script for increasing the system partition to 1gb.YOU MUST KEEP THE PRELOAD PARTITION as cm13 need it.
Then flash cm13 and pico gapps in one go.
Don't reboot but reflash the iso rec twrp (not sure if really needed) and reboot recovery.
Reboot system and wait (1st boot can take up to 20 minutes)
As you see it is a long go and I advise to read a lot here before trying this.
In particular check the iso rec twrp thread and the Lanchon repit thread here on xda (just google them)
Good luck
Yeah I managed to install Cm13 with twrp up to date. I had to use odin, install cm12.1 and
the file kernel-Lanchon-TRIM-IsoRec-20160111-cm-12.1-i9100-for-ODIN
then recovery-the.gangster-IsoRec-TWRP-3.0.2-1-i9100-WITH-PRELOAD-SUPPORT
then lanchon-repit-20160406-system=1.0-data=same-sdcard=max-preload=min+wipe-i9100
Ok, great and nice to know preload set as min works.

You succeeded which is fine. But just a comment:
you wouldn't have needed the recovery-the.gangster-IsoRec-TWRP-3.0.2-1-i9100-WITH-PRELOAD-SUPPORT.zip, if you use the lanchon-repit-xxxxxxxx-i9100.zip for repartitioning, as this tool will always take care of the formatting anyway (either keeping or wipeing it). I made that "special" recovery to allow the formatting for ODIN-with-pitfile-users in a gui. So the official unmodded TWRP would have done it as well for your described way.
And actually I would have a second comment:
There are also ways to do all that without ODIN, just in case you don't like the yellow triangle. Maybe I'll put the information on that together one day, as I find it much more comfortable not to depend on an USB-connection (with a possible slack joint) and to run everything right on the phone.

I managed to install CM 12.1, stable version on my galaxy S2. Now I have standard CyanogenMod Recovery.
I wanted to install CM13 but I wasn't able to do it. I don't know how to install, TWRP recovery. I've downloaded all the necessary files, flashed the file "kernel-Lanchon-TRIM-IsoRec-20160111-cm-12.1-i9100-for-ODIN" using Odin 3.07 and then my phone entered in a bootloop. Now I reflashed stock rom because i didn't know what to do.
Please, can you, or someone make an explicit step by step, NOOB STYLE, guide to upgrade from CM 12.1 to CM13?
I followed many tutorials and I`m still stuck at replacing CWM recovery with TWRP. Please Help!

Exactly for that, there is the most comprehensive one here already:
[GUIDE][NOOB-FRIENDLY]Want to update to CM13? Read this first!
If you read its first three posts and you don't manage to do it, no guide will make you do it...

I remember installing ''recovery-the.gangster-IsoRec-TWRP-3.0.2-1-i9100-WITH-PRELOAD-SUPPORT'' with odin 3.07 (section pda??), after I installed cm 12.1 from
http://galaxys2update.com/
then do not forget to install the zip file,
lanchon-repit-20160406-system=1.0-data=same-sdcard=max-preload=min+wipe-i9100
from within TWRP, to resize your partition and it takes a while
then install CM13, then ''erase davik cache'' and pico gapps and erase ''davik cache''

No need to install twrp with preload as the @the.gangster provided also a twrp 3.0.2-1.zip. without preload support.
And: zip files can be flashed in Recovery and not with Odin (only as tar-file e.g. xxx recovery.tar in PDA)
And when flashing the lanchon latest zip file i would also recommend to increase data (1.0GB system and 4.0GB data).
And as the.gangster said before he has to read the recommended Guide.
It doesn't make sense to flash all sort of things without knowing how to .....

Without Odin, flash Recovery, Kernel, Re-partiton and flash CM13
Hello again, and thank you all for the great community xda has become.
I managed to install CM 13 on my S2 a few months ago.
I find it kinda slow....
anyway.... taking in mind that for cm 13 we had to repit to gain extra space...what are the steps for going back to stock?
Thank you!

You have to repit again with the original pit file or a pit that includes a 512mb preload partition, choose your desired pit from this zip but it must have preload 512mb in its name,
1.5GB PIT Files
, the zip includes one pit with 1.5gb system and a very small preload partition, this one is useless for your condition, the other pits are also 1.5gb system but all with 512mb preload partition, except for one pit that is the STOCK pit that sets the partitions to its original state, i recommend using one of the 1.5gb system with 512mb preload, because it's suitable for the stock rom and any other rom even cm13 and LineageOS 14.1, you may change your mind after all, there are plenty of roms to try
