[Q] Cloning Android device - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am fairly new to the Android environment and am attempting to clone an Android device which is running an app that I need to distribute to multiple similar devices. I want to be able to clone the device without cloning the MAC address and Android id values. Looking through the XDA forums the suggested method is to use something like Titanium Backup to load a custom recovery image for backup/restore. Though I have a rooted device, I have not been successfull in getting Titanium to start up on my device - when attempting to launch the app, it gets stuck with the message that says "Detecting SU and BusyBox...". Even I were to be able to load Titanium, I could not find the recovery ROM for my device.
What are my options of cloning this device since Titanium does not work?
Thanks
Ramdas

[Q] HP Touchpad and device recognition in Android Market

Hi,
As ICS ROMs appear for the Touchpad, there are ways of fooling Android Market and the apps themselves into thinking they are running on a different device. I know of changing the build.prop file.
I flashed a particular rom and hoped that when I set up my google account, my previously installed apps would start downloading from the market as I had apps and settings backed up through the options.
After I had flashed, my touchpad didn't start downloading my previously installed apps via the market or sync any settings. When I looked on my settings in the web version of the market, my previous incarnation of my touchpad had been removed from the device list and replaced by the freshly installed one. I could tell because the friendly name given to my device had disappeared and make and model had returned to HP Touchpad (It was previously set by me to Samsung and GT-i9100 through the build.prop file)
There were 3 other devices in my list, my current phone, my old phone and the CM7 version of my touchpad. This has lead me to believe that under the hood the market must be recognising the device from poissibly some serial number / ID of the device and the version of android running. I am thinking it can't just be the serial as the CM7 entry would have gone when I installed and linked the CM9 version.
So the market has removed the old CM9 entry and added the new CM9 entry, so it knows there is a link, but has failed to then get my apps and settings back. Is this due to the Make and Model no longer matching?
I hope somebody knows how this all works and then maybe we could have a sticky to advise when reflashing your device what to do to make sure the market sees it as the same device so the app restore and sync work ok.
Thanks everyone
Jason
You should just use Titanium backup to restore your apps and settings. However I know that when I signed into my google account, my TP started downloading apps i have on other devices (however I had ICS on my nook before, but not currently; maybe thats where it was getting it from).

[Q] Identification in BlueStacks

I am using BlueStacks and I want to exploit an App by making multiple accounts, the problem is that I need to re-install Bluestacks after every account created and this is a pain in the ass , it takes to much time.
I have rooted it and I've been using multiple Device ID changers but it seems that the App still recognizes the App, I've also tried Titanium Back-up
Pro but it's the same result , I've tried the multitool option of reset at factory defaults but its the same result.
How can I fully change the device identity in order to create multiple accounts without reinstalling bluestacks?
Thank you very much.
I found out that I need to change the following Device Identifiers:
Device ID
Android ID
SIM Serial
Device Serial
Subscriber ID

Does rooting change your Android ID?

Hi,
Recently I installed a custom ROM to my ZTE Axon 7, and before that I backed up my apps like LINE on google drive. I could see that it did save some data and the app could see the backup.
But after installing the new OS by unlocking the bootloader, my LINE couldn't see the backup in my google drive. I searched online it says the hidden data on google drive can only be accessed using the app itself. And that this is done by the apps generating IDs using the android ID etc.
So I assume the ID generated by LINE is different now. Is it because Android ID has changed? Does rooting or unlocking can do this?
It's very frustrating not to be able to access this data when it's still there.
Thanks in advance.

[No Gapps][F-Droid] How to backup Settings, User Dictionaries, Blocked Numbers?

Hi all, I am running Lineage OS (but my question is not necessarily Lineage-specific) *without* Gapps (I'm using F-Droid only) on a rooted device.
I am looking for a way to backup (on file) the Settings, Blocked Numbers, and User Dictionaries of my device. The idea is to have a backup such that:
1) I can import smoothly on my PC
2) I can re-import smoothly everything on a fresh install on the same device
3) if I change device (and maybe OS version), I can still re-import manually single files (so, maybe not the full settings, but the user dictionary and blocked numbers yes for example)
The TWRP backup is hence not suitable, because it performs a full device backup.
It would be enough for me to know the location of the databases where Lineage stores such info (my phone is rooted, I can grab those DBs if I know where they are).
I tried Oandbackup but it looks definitely overkill, it always gives me a bunch of error, and plus I found very confusing to decide what com.provider.omg.wtf.orly.kthxbye to backup and what not
Any idea?
Thanks in advance ^^
Up! Even just the user dictionaries would be very appreciated!

Bypass manufacturers registration startup

I have a device (GT Wonder Boy with Android "GT OS") that starts in the manufacturers custom user registration prompt and process. This version of Android has required apps installed, so I can't otherwise replace the OS. Is anyone aware of a method that may bypass these first run registration prompts? To complicate matters, the recovery menu is in Chinese, which I do not speak. Though I have reasoned out how to restore if needed.
did you ever solve this?

For recovery use Google translate, anyway I don't know how you would be able to pass this first setup registration

unfortunately the bypass menu - hold down the volume key during startup - only provides "Testing" resources. I am unable to access a ip ftp or ssh login without knowing a bit more information about what the OS is. Now that they are out of business there might be some 3rd party resources fiarly soon. I'll check back in if I find access.
Maybe if you root it, you can remove the app responsible for this, after that wipe and next time you would skip the registration process
i was able to use the usb micro connect to root via Kingo. playing with os now
