Building TWRP from a system dump? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I have never made TWRP before and I would like to build it for the LG Power L22C.
I have made ROMs before including like 10 LG Ally ROMs and about 2 LG Ultimate 2 ROMs and 3 Droid X ROMs.
But I would really like some help building TWRP for the L22C. The device has a lot of potential for development but it just needs a recovery and stock ROM.
I have ubuntu all set up with 70 GB of space. I know I need it to build. I also have a system dump with me.
Any easy to follow guides I could use? Thanks [emoji3]

Manage to bootloop my LG power somehow, with no system modifications yet. And with no backup. Going to see if I can still get a replacement under warranty, but very interested in if you manage to do this.
I might just cave in and buy a OnePlus 2 or something however.

Ended up buying a Moto X Pure, has any progress been made or is this considered dead, and the phone not so worth it?

I just used xda RootJunky's Amazon Fire 5th Gen SuperTool (April 6, 2016 version), JUST AS IT IS, to root my Tracfone LG L22C Power. With only a couple of mouse clicks.
Tracfone LG L22C Power info:
Model Number: LGL22C
Android version: 5.0.1
Kernel version: 3.10.49
Build number: LRX21Y
Software version: L22CV10a
The SuperTool batch file script rooted the phone with KingRoot and then uninstalled KingRoot and installed SuperSu.
I have since installed ES File Manager, Titanium Backup, Link2sd on the phone. Root is totally working. Rooted with only a couple of clicks!
Just enable Developer options on LG L22C (by tapping phone Build Number 7 to 10 times [Settings, About Phone, Software info, Build Number (tap 7 to 10 times)]), enable USB debugging on L22C in the Developer options settings.
Connect L22C to Windows 10 with a USB data cable (I used the USB 2.0 port). When screen message on the L22C mentions MTP mode, tap that and change to PTP mode on the phone.
Install RootJunky's SuperTool to the Windows 10 desktop.
Run RootJunky's SuperTool (Amazon-Fire-5th-gen.bat) You may have to read the instructions on the pages below and install adb drivers. Pick option #6 Root. Choose Option #3: version 5.1.2.
Press enter and KingRoot will be installed on the phone from the SuperTool. (approve any messages that appear on phone screen) Now don't touch the PC SuperTool until the phone is rooted.
Open KingRoot on the phone and run it. You may have to run KingRoot several times and the phone may reboot. Just keep running KingRoot until the LG L22C is rooted. After KingRoot reaches 100%, then press ENTER on the PC.
The SuperTool will now uninstall KingRoot and install SuperSU on the phone.
Choose NORMAL SuperSU install on the phone when prompted. When SuperSU is installed, reboot the phone. Disconnect data cable.
After reboot the LG L22C Power is rooted. There will be a request by SuperSU to upgrade. Approve it. You can now install Titanium Backup, Link2sd, ES File Manager, etc. Your phone is rooted. As easy as that. THANKS ROOTJUNKY!!!

Asus Padfone X mini - Rooting Device

UPDATE ROOT OBTAINED - Phone Finally Works Well After Rooting
Root is obtained now. Here is guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
Use option "T3" on the guide. I can confirm working on my device. UNISTALL and TitaniumBackup both confirmed as working with ROOT to remove bloat.
My original message is under the jump. We still need custom recovery and ROM. I might put out a deodox.
****Please report working ADB driver downloads, your OS, and x86 or x64. I will update guide with working drivers to help people who haven't got root yet. I have so many adb drivers on pc, I can't tell which ones worked. If I get some time, I check by using another PC. *****
-------------------
The Asus Padfone X mini is for sale as an AT&T GoPhone at $199 at a national retailer. It is even cheaper on a national electronics website.
It ships with 4.4.2 KitKat. This is post-June software that appears to be patched to prevent TowelRoot to run. (Padfone X, not the mini-version can likely still run TowelRoot unless an OTA changes that.) There is a lot of bloat. I am looking for Root access to enable a custom recovery. The goal is a deoxed ROM that has AT&T "features" removed. Step one is root. If anyone can help me with root or custom recovery, I would be grateful and try to deox ROM or something.
I cannot figure out how to root this device; I tried:
Towel Root
Pie Root
Random scripts that worked with knockoff phones
Motorola TowelPie and Other Roots
I've unlocked the bootloader. I get a permissions error whenever I try to sideload any root/exploit. I cannot push SuperSU onto the device. I spent a couple hours searching this forum and all over the net and could not find a working root.
This is a nice device once I get root access and can remove the "features."
This info might help
whiteboard.ping.se /Android /Rooting since you unlocked the bootloader this might help you.
How did you go about unlocking the bootloader. Fastboot oem unlock didn't for me.
I thought this was like the same phone as the PadFone x but they can use towelroot v1 to root out don't seem to work for the mini

No progress on root access?
second the root please
root access would be most welcomed.
going to try the temporary root to edit xml attempting to get permanent write access to microsd at very least.
And how is that going.....I can't understand why if we have an unlocked boot loader why abd wouldn't work I've spent hours trying to do it to no avail

I still haven't figured out how to unlock the bootloader....
I bought mines unlocked and I think there's a service on the web that does it for 50( beware of scam)

If anyone wants to try, shakalaca from 23pin released some new tools to root zenfone and memopad series. And according to him, this method is very well possible can be applied to any Asus phone with intel CPU. ( 23pin.logdown.com/posts/247110-merry-christmas )
I personally tried it with my Padfone Mini T00E, which is almost the same as Padfone X Mini, at least they have the same Z2560 CPU.
These were the steps I took:
1.Just go download and install the Intel driver, and Asus PCLink.
2.Download v1 version of AsusIntelRootKit and unzip it to your disk. (Put it directly under C:\ or D:\)
3.Plug your phone to the computer(Don't forget to enable USB debugging)
4.Click the CheckBeforeAction.bat and follow what it says.
5.If you see something like "01234567890ABCDEF fastboot", then you are ready to go.
6.Click Root.bat
I highly recommend anyone who wish to try go to 23pin.logdown.com and read the instructions. (Use Google translate if you don't understand Mandarin)
You can post questions, Shakalaca is very helpful.
All credits go to shakalaca and his awesome works.

A bit more specifically: I can get the ASUS Android Composite ADB Interface starts and the phone goes into the bootloader (droidboot menu) . The ASUS Android Bootloader Interface started but I do not see the "01234567890ABCDEF Fastboot". I am sure I'm doing something wrong, so I am going to try it the again using the correct method.

Sorry I forgot to mention, I ran into the exact same problem at the beginning. But after I did a Factory Reset(with Droidboot), and tried again immediately, it worked. That "01234567890 Fastboot" message (It varies, just something like that.)appeared while checking using CheckbeforeAction bat file. Maybe you can try this if it's not too troublesome for you to backup everything and factory reset.

[Q&A] [REF] [ROOT] lg power lgl22c (StraitTalk)

Got this device and so far there's very little I've found for it so I want to share my findings.
*ROOT can be obtained using king root.
*link to source code http://opensource.lge.com/osSch/list?types=ALL&search=lgl22
Ive tried all of the methods to wipe out king root and get this thing switched over to super su. here are the only instructions that i have found that work, only thing I can add to this info is, i used pdanet for drivers and phone has to be in "ptp" mode for any of it to work.

Remove King root
How exactly did you get KingRoot completely off the phone? I have tried a couple of times even through adb and it will not go away lol.
I am assuming that you followed just the "HOW TO INSTALL BUSYBOX, SUPERUSER, AND SU BINARIES" part of that post or did you do the whole thing?
Also have you managed or tried to get this thing to boot into download mode? Not sure if it even has it as an option but i tried for like 8 hours last night to get it to go, the best i found was the hard button combo from lg leon for recovery that worked.

My apologies for the delayed response, link was updated to the correct one. I've been playing the find a job game lately and has taken priority. Also this thread wasn't on my watch threads list so I've not gotten any notification of your question, I've fixed this as well. Again thank you for your patience.
Got kingroot removed completely and installed supersu with terminal emulator ......now waiting for cyanogenmod....
So is there a cwm or twrp for this yet?

I just used xda RootJunky's Amazon Fire 5th Gen SuperTool (April 6, 2016 version), JUST AS IT IS, to root my Tracfone LG L22C Power. With only a couple of mouse clicks.

Thanks but from what I am seeing its a permanent brick. Sucks. Oh well, took one for the community to attempt to have xposed. Now everyone knows not to try for sure since this stupid phone apparently doesn't even have fastboot , download or accessible stock recovery.
Confirmed by LG; Bricked. They skimped and did not add a way to get to Fastboot/Download mode.
Also everyone be aware that this screen is prone to burn-in. I have a slight ghosting of the LG boot screen burned in
Has anyone found anything for this phone

Greetings devs, advanced users and all those wannabes like me. the LG POWER L22C has been my only successful root out of four different devices, from different manufacturers...go figure. Anyway, root was achieved on my LG POWER L22C ( Straight Talk, VZW) via Kingroot 4, I believe ( Chinese one). Things however, went a bit sideways after that. Kingroot is dug in like a rabid, star- nosed mole rat, and its somehow interfering with the binary update for SuperSU. I would like to re-root and start anew. Trouble is, I can't seen to find a TWRP or CWM specific to this model. I've tried CyanogenMod, TWRP, Resurrection and I don't know how many other, less known CR's. Here's her specs:
LG POWER LGL22C
Android 5.0.1
Kernal 3.10.49
Build: LRX21Y
Software version: L22C VIDa
Anyone out there has some info on this, and I'd be much obliged for sharing.
Thanks,
CinephilCinephile74

P.S. While we're on the subject of LG, the FIESTA LTE/ Power X2 ( same FCC ID's) which differ only in processor architecture, is proving to be most stubborn in rooting as well. I'll see of there's a forum for this model
. Not a bad phone at all, considering her loadout. Only really lacking in GPU. Phenomenal battery life, due to a nearly 5000 mah battery.

***UPDATE 0428 Saturday 24 June***
I'm in trouble again, folks. I've been trying to improve the quality of my root experience with this lil' guy (just found out it is the LG LEON), and I'm also studying to root a ZTE QUEST N817(QLink) and the newest addition, the LG FIESTA LTE, in which even the XDA app identified as an LGE X POWER 2. In fairness, it is, in fact, an X power 2 according to the FCC ID. Only differences I know of are, the XP2 uses a single processor with 8 cores, while the "FIESTA variant" uses a quad set-up with ARMv7 architecture. Bear with me, the point of all this is nigh. Ad to all this, a moderate problem with insomnia. Long story short (TOO LATE), I was installing an app, I believe that was SD CardFix...restores R\W access to 4.+. And ONLY Kit Kat. I had theWong device in my hand, installed this app into 5.0. My poor LG L22C is now stuck at the initial LG screen. Tried SAFE/RECOVERY modes, no joy. Just stuck. This must be the famous soft brick I've been so weary of. Arms mute line a hard bricked device though, because ONLY battery removal powers down the internal thing.
Any answers, explanations, solutions and/or advice Is MOST appreciated!
PEACE ✌

Lenovo Tablet A8-50 Rooting

Looking for info on rooting a Lenovo A8-50F tablet. It's running 5.0.2.
I see a thread on a different Lenovo tablet:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/lenovo-tab-s8-50f-stock-firmware-rom-t2989791/
But that's clearly a different tablet.
Thanks.
Lenovo A8-50F Tablet Rooting
Moved to the general Android forum by the admins.
*Anybody* using this Lenovo tablet? How about generic 5.02 rooting instructions?
I used KingRoot (ver 4.8.2) to root my Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet.
I used KingRoot as part of a SuperTool. The SuperTool, using a batchfile script, also removed KingRoot after the tablet was rooted and then installed SuperSU.
The SuperTool (April 6, 2016 version) was created by xda's RootJunky for the Amazon Fire 7 5th gen tablet, using KingRoot and SuperSU, but it rooted my Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet, uninstalled KingRoot and installed SuperSU, all with only a couple of mouse clicks.
Even if you are already rooted with KingRoot, you can use this tool to uninstall KingRoot and install SuperSU. (Just run the tool, let it re-install KingRoot, don't run KingRoot but hit Enter on the SuperTool to then uninstall KingRoot and install SuperSU).
Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet info:
Model Number: Lenovo TAB 2 A8-50F
Android version: 5.1
Kernel version: 3.10.65
Build number: A8-50F_S000037_151023_ROW

Connect Tablet to Windows 10 with a USB data cable (I used the USB 2.0 port). When screen message on the Tablet mentions connections, make sure it is in the MTP mode.
Extract RootJunky's SuperTool Zip file to the Windows 10 desktop.
Run RootJunky's SuperTool (Amazon-Fire-5th-gen.bat) You may have to read the instructions on the pages below and install adb drivers. Pick option #6 Root. Choose Option #3: version 5.1.2. This will run a script that installs KingRoot, allows you to run it manually, and then removes KingRoot and installs SuperSU.
Press enter and KingRoot will be installed on the Tablet from the SuperTool. (approve any messages that appear on Tablet screen) Now don't touch the PC SuperTool until the Tablet is rooted.

Wow, awesome! I forgot I posted this. Lenovo has clearly abandoned this tablet. Too bad, I use it every night. So if we root, do you know of any third party ROMs that support this hardware?

I haven't looked for roms. That was a low priority. Mainly I wanted root to load AdAway, Link2sd, Titanium Backup, etc.

I had previously needed root for NTFS support for playing movies off of USB keys. I found a work-around that didn't need root but it will be nice to get it back. Thanks for sharing.

So, did you find any Custom ROMs? As you say, seems Lenovo aren't supporting the s8-50 and the present ROM is somewhat out of date. Still works fine, but a newer Google patch level would be nice!

No, nothing. I'm just going to count this as abandoned hardware and never buy from Lenovo again. Glad I got a good price on it originally.

T-Mobile Coolpad Rogue 3320A - Any one working on Recovery/Roms for this?

So I as successfully able to root the phone using the Windows version of Kingo Root and then installed Super Su and Busy Box but I can't get a recovery to work on it, yet.....would love a Recovery like TWRP or Phil's and CM13 port for this phone.
Finally got it rooted with KingRoot
Just noticed that the build.prop has the ro.build.id-LMY47V
That's the 5.1.1 for the 2013 Nexus 7

Hi I would to know how you rooted the Coolpad Rogue 3320A. I was looking at Kingo root and KingRoot and they dont give good instructions.
I tried the android versions of both KingRoot and Kingo Root without success. The Windows version of Kingo Root failed but the Windows version of KingRoot succeeded in rooting my Coolpad Rogue 3320A.
The Kingo Root Windows app gives instructions in English when you run it. Which are to connect the phone to the computer with a USB cable and enable "USB debugging" in the phone's "Settings" under "Developer options'. Then click the ROOT button when it appears. KingRoot is in Chinese, but I just followed the same procedure.
To get "Developer options" to show in the phone's settings , you need to give 7 or 8 taps to the "Build number" under "About phone" in the phone's "Settings".
Before I tried rooting I also ran COOLPAD-140926-SETUP.EXE in the CD Drive labeled "Coolpad_USB_Driver" that shows up in Windows Explorer when the phone is connected to the PC by USB cable. I also installed minimal ADB and Fastboot and Google USB drivers using 15 seconds ADB Installer v1.3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118 But I think that they may not have been necessary.
The version of Windows KingRoot I had success with was KingRootSetup_v3.1.0.1125_105002.exe downloaded from kingroot.net
There's a setting in the developer options to allow the bootloader to be unlocked. I've not tried to fastboot to work yet.
"Vanilla" ROM or at least vanilla dialer/phone apps?
I'm interested in some kind of vanilla dialer/phone/telecom app set (5.1.1 based) or a full ROM that's AOSP so that I can toss out T-Mo's "Wi-Fi Calling" and use the built-in Android SIP client with its normal configuration screens.
If anyone has accomplished the same with this device or any other T-Mo 5.1 based device, please let me know. I'd really like to be able to configure the system dialer to connect to my SIP PBX directly rather than use a half dozen hacks to give me half-working VoIP calling of my own.
(Note: If there's a T-Mo 4.4 based image out there, that would suffice, as I can at least make VoIP apps intercept dial requests, which T-Mo Wi-Fi Calling prevents on 5.1. This device shipped with 5.1, but it might be possible that a similar model's ROM image might work on this as well.)
/system image
anyone with a rooted 3320a that might be able to provide me with a stock(or rooted stock) image of /system? i managed to softbrick my device after rooting and i forgot to do a dd of the system partition before mucking around in it
thanks in advance

My Arise don't have a custom recovery either. This kind of disappoints me, as this phone is a good phone for the price.
However, I thought I'd share with you guys that Root Genius may also work to root the Rogue as it does root my Arise. (I don't own a Rogue, so I can't confirm this.) It's always better to have more than one way to root your phone safely right?

Hello, but I have a question. Is busybox OK on this device? I am afraid that installing it may brick the device

I was able to root the coolpad rouge without a computer. I'm going to create an account and upload the tut. -cyphermil

You CAN root this with the Kingroot apk.
I'm new and can't post links so to make the links below work just abbrev the http and add a colon.
As soon as I can post links I will fix them.
PROOF:
Hypertexttransferprotocol//imgur.com/a/SXmMc
Here's what I did:
1) download latest kingroot Hypertexttransferprotocol//androidmtk.com/download-kingroot-application
2) enable USB debugging in developer options
3) enable OEM boot loader unlock in developer options
6) enable unsigned APKs
7) install kingroot apk
8) run kingroot
9)?
10) PROFIT
Will update with better details later. Sorry for mistakes and formatting I'm on my rooted coolpad rouge.
