Hi there,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2. For some weeks now, it simply looses all internet connectivity over cellular networks (not over WiFi!). This seems to happen more often if I loose the connection to a wifi cell and it should be forced to make use of the cellular networks internet. One symptom is that the cellular network bars are still there (I can even make phone calls), however the E / 3G / H symbol disappears...
My current solution is to switch to airplane mode and back again. I so far tried a couple of different roms and modems, however none seem to solve my problem... Does anybody know how to fix this?

Give more info please...Phone Model,Kernel,ROM,Modem.Make a screenshot of settings.And I think you just simply lose signal.I have S2 too,and mine never loses connection.However,before I turn on the Data network,I have full signal(4 bars).After I turn it on,I only have 1-2 bars.So I think the 3G signal isn't strong enough.

I have tried different combinations of Resurrection Remix 3.1.1, 3.1.3, NeatRom Lite 4.7 and both Omega AOKP and AOSP releases, using also different kernels.
The strange thing is that i was on RR 3.1.1 for half a year now and never had a problem and it suddenly started a month ago, so its not just a signal loss - the S2 simply doesn't use cell-based internet. After experiencing the problem I started switching ROMs, always doing a full wipe and yesterday even a ROM wipe.
Today I switched to modem xxls8, before I was on a newer one (the ones which came with the corresponding roms) and am still evaluating if this changes anything.

For me this does happen but it's specific to my network provider, all others work flawlessly. And usually in my case waiting a couple of minutes or restarting the phone gets it back working again. Try using an other sim and confirm whether it's your network provider's fault.

Hi, I've the exact same problem, same sintoms. I have to reboot the phone to get data connection back when I'm not on WiFi.
I've tried changing the modem and the kernel but no luck.
I'm currently using Neat lite 4.7 with Apolo kernel 4.7, and I've unlocked the phone with galaxsim unlock 9 months ago and I've never had this kind of problems.
By the way, I don't use any kind of tasks killers.

Thanks, but tried with different sim card with same results.
So around 3 weeks ago I got a brand new unlocked Z2 D6503. As it says, it supports LTE and the bands it support are available and broadcasted here in KSA.
I'm on the operator Zain KSA and when I manually search for mobile networks, I do see the LTE network by the operator but whenever I select it, it doesn't register on it.
I've tried everything from calling/visiting the network operator from changing the SIM and getting a new one.
The FW I have is .314
Anyone has any experience or any idea? Do I need to reflash the FW?
May be enter the correct APN settings for your carrier?

Firstly, are you on an LTE plan? For Singapore, we need to sign up to an LTE plan and the operator has to do the necessary activation, before we can register on the LTE network.

That's the thing, I already had 4G activated, and I specially got it deactivated and activated again on this handset. 4G coverage is in my area, each and everything is in optimal condition. The network operator says everything is also fine at their end...

Yup everything is configured correctly
I can confirm that it is the handset that is not registering LTE.
I just popped in a working LTE SIM which has full coverage in my area and Z2 fails to register it...
Well I can't say much about LTE since I am on 3G data plan so can't use it. But the funny thing happened that I was on Edge connection, even tho I was in city centre and I could use 3G, it was full. So went into phone options and changed into 3G only and then Z2 has magically seen the better connection. Try to do that for LTE, maybe it will work. Otherwise I would flash other firmware or repair with PCC.

Okay so actually solved the issue.
I reinstalled/repaired the FW using Sony PC Companion and now LTE works perfectly. But the side effect? I heard that 4.4.2 causes many bugs and seems like I just got the phone sluggish one.
Phone feels sluggish in different parts as well as when I tap the recent icons button. Also the animation for WiFi turning on and off is not there anymore...
I don't know what's happening anymore....:/
I too have a bit of a lag when I hit recents menu button. I guess it's just the way Z2 is now and we have to wait for new firmwares, hopefully with less bugs, to come.

Yeah, seems like we'll just have to wait for 4.4.4 to hit...
Sad how the animations worked and there was no lag but sadly no LTE functionality. Such bad FW release.
And yeah atleast I fixed the LTE issue as I really can't stand slow internet and H+ seems pretty slow to me.

First, Hi. I have a Galaxy S3 International Model, I live in Turkey and I installed the ROM Cyanogenmod 11. Is very smooth and fast and simple which I like but my network conection comes and go. Is like it comes but immediately it goes. So i don't have Data nor signal to make calls/SMS.
And the most strange thing is that I have the IMEI in the phone, just that my network connection leave and come. But comes for only 5 sec, so it is always with no network status. I made an EFS backup and restore it but no results.
I would be really greatful if someone can give me an answer.

Check your apn settings match the ones for your carrier, sometimes these get deleted or not carried over when you first flash the rom.
I would hold off flashing another modem especially since cm doesn't touch the modem and it will still be the same one from your stock rom, assuming you came from stock of course.
My Mate10 pro cannot connect to 4G+ network (only 4G), on my old S8 working fine (showing 4G+ symbol). In mobile/advenced settings LTE high speed is enabled! Is there any other settings that i need to enable to get working 4G+? Thank you!
In APN, maybe try to change ipv settings to ipv4/ipv6

Try to factory reset without sim inside.
And put back the simple inside after this.
Do you have Carrier aggregation enabled?
Cat 18 enabled?

I did factory reset, without SIM, APN exactly same as in my old S8 but no lucky!
If i put my SIM on my Galaxy S8, 4g+ sign appear immediately, so the isue 100% related with my Mate10 or settings!
Can i downgrade to .115 form .127, i-m not familyar with Huawei phones, used HTC and Samsung! Thank you!

Search the settings for Carrier aggregation
I made some tests, and my conclusion regarding with 4G+ is:
I am using BLA-L29 (C432) 8.0.0.127
Using both SIMs- 4G+ signs never appeard, only 4G service is working
If i insert only one SIM (the second remain empty) 4G+ service working ok!
So, i think it is a software bug.
If your phone with two sims inserted working on 4G+, let me know, this mean 4G+ bug is maybe the mobile operator fault! Thanks
I got 4G+ with both SIMs inserted and working! I'm too on BLA-L29 8.0.0.127. I have the same provider on both SIMs, for now. I'm changing provider of SIM2. Look at the screenshot.

My version 8.0.0.144 .. And me also don't have the 4G+
And the LTE cat disappeared

Get your carrier to enable volte on your service. Restart your phone and it should work

The other response is incorrect. Huawei has a whitelist of carrier MCC/MNC for VoLTE support. US carriers are not on it for LYA-L29.
VoLTE working fine in the middle east for the LYA-L29 for those who are wondering.
I don't know about North America though.

Volte works fine on the P20 Pro. Since that phone was never sold or supported in the USA there is no reason US carriers would be on a whitelist.
Volte also works fine on the Xiaomi MI Mix 2 & 2S which aren't sold or supported here.
Same problem in Canada too...the carrier has to work with Huawei to turn the feature on. I upgraded from an S7Edge which WAS VoLTE enabled by the carrier, so the account has the feature, but it did not automatically carry over.
Looks like there will be a few months before we get this, seeing how long it took for P20 Pro.
Anyone on UK EE with VoLTE available?

Can you please elaborate. For some of our carriers in Canada VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling are only enabled with carrier branded phones. This is particularly true for Rogers and Fido. If you are dealing with Shaw, Telus and Bell I have seen different scenarios that certain non branded phones working ok for VoLTE and other phones not working at all.
I am with Fido and I bought the Mate 20 Pro from them and VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling work.

On the flip side, I was getting VoLTE on my old phone which was NOT bought from them (it was first registered on Koodo).
Rogers does not allow that -as you mentioned.

A follow-up on my own post:
- we all knew the Canadian version L0C is NOT dual-SIM - I finally got a chance to test this. Bummer.
- I put in my phone a Rogers SIM and VoLTE and VoWiFi WERE INSTANTLY ENABLED. So the software supports it, has to be enabled by the provider via the SIM cfg. Somewhat positive news - as we all thought, Rogers would only allow VoLTE on the phones they sell, the test proved this is not the case.

Got 9.0.0.182 update and VoLTE works now. NO VoWiFI though.
any one from israel with partner / 012mobile volte vowifi is on on the phone but its not working its goes to H+
Anyone else willing to admit they don't even know what it is and turned it off just to get rid of the awful notification?

I can definitely tell that the call quality is a LOT better in my case with VoLTE on, as it uses HD codecs (G.722).
You can try for yourself by turning VoLTE ON and then play with WCDMA vs LTE settings...one will disable it right away. In my case even the call button in the dialer shows HD.
And yes, the damn icon is hideous and won't go away even with System Tuner.

MintMobile does provide Volte but they have no idea which phone models it works on so they don't advertise Volte. I had Volte functionality on MintMobile with One Plus 5, Essential PH-1, Xiaomi Mix 2 & Mix 2S, and Huawei P20 Pro.
But it does not work with this phone.
On Telus, the first time I set the phone up it made me jump through a hoop where I went to a Telus site and enabled the VOxxx stuff. Strangely, it seemed to be kinda random whether it was 'on' or not, and before the last 2 updates I don't think you could even trust the icon to be telling you the truth. I'm not sure why this feature is a big deal, codecs or not the voice quality seems fine on this phone regardless. Some people claim that enabling any of the VO stuff gobbles battery, I haven't really noticed.
Much like the AOD, it is sad that we have almost no control over the icons at the top - especially when space is at such a premium there.
