I have a Samsung Galaxy S2. For some weeks now, it simply looses all internet connectivity over cellular networks (not over WiFi!). This seems to happen more often if I loose the connection to a wifi cell and it should be forced to make use of the cellular networks internet. One symptom is that the cellular network bars are still there (I can even make phone calls), however the E / 3G / H symbol disappears...
My current solution is to switch to airplane mode and back again. I so far tried a couple of different roms and modems, however none seem to solve my problem... Does anybody know how to fix this?

Give more info please...Phone Model,Kernel,ROM,Modem.Make a screenshot of settings.And I think you just simply lose signal.I have S2 too,and mine never loses connection.However,before I turn on the Data network,I have full signal(4 bars).After I turn it on,I only have 1-2 bars.So I think the 3G signal isn't strong enough.

I have tried different combinations of Resurrection Remix 3.1.1, 3.1.3, NeatRom Lite 4.7 and both Omega AOKP and AOSP releases, using also different kernels.
The strange thing is that i was on RR 3.1.1 for half a year now and never had a problem and it suddenly started a month ago, so its not just a signal loss - the S2 simply doesn't use cell-based internet. After experiencing the problem I started switching ROMs, always doing a full wipe and yesterday even a ROM wipe.
Today I switched to modem xxls8, before I was on a newer one (the ones which came with the corresponding roms) and am still evaluating if this changes anything.

For me this does happen but it's specific to my network provider, all others work flawlessly. And usually in my case waiting a couple of minutes or restarting the phone gets it back working again. Try using an other sim and confirm whether it's your network provider's fault.

Hi, I've the exact same problem, same sintoms. I have to reboot the phone to get data connection back when I'm not on WiFi.
I've tried changing the modem and the kernel but no luck.
I'm currently using Neat lite 4.7 with Apolo kernel 4.7, and I've unlocked the phone with galaxsim unlock 9 months ago and I've never had this kind of problems.
By the way, I don't use any kind of tasks killers.

Received my SGS2 on 29th June and ever since it start having emergency call syndrome (out of blue not receiving any network signal).only after reset, it regain signal and same story goes on till date.
To overcome this prob,i tried these:
- factory reset 3 times
- manually choose telco/network carrier
- update/flash firmware (stock XWKF1 -> XWKF3)
so for these only reduce problem's rate to occur.PLease,help anyone?

I have the same problem as yours (i thought i am the only one having this)...out of the blue the phone changes to the emergency calls Only status....
it is very annoying specially when you are expecting an important phone call and you discover that the phone cannot receive calls
it became a habit of mine to keep checking my phone every once and a while, and when spotted i restart my phone and this brings the phone back to normal (Normal for a day or two of course).
Can anybody help with this?

First of all I would download a newer firmware. If that doesn't fix it you should probably just return it to Samsung for replacement/repair.
Actually i have flashed this Israeli ROM (it is an Orange official but leaked ROM) about a month or so and it supports Arabic, English & Russian (exactly what i need) that i have no complains about so far except this emergency Calls issue and i am not so fund of rooting etc so i don't know where i can find another ROM (official not cooked ) that have the same languages supported.

What is your signal strength when it changes to emergency only? Mine does that during very weak signal, I found it's because it can only receive GPRS singal which is from another carrier when my own (HSPA) can't establish connection.

frankly i didn't check or notice such thing, but the moment i installed my latest ROM (GB/JHKG2) i have noticed that the signal strength is very week especially indoors.
thinking off and analyzing this situation i have a confident opinion that the problem i am facing is related to the ROM i am using (GB/JHKG2).
i am thinking of flashing a different Kernel to this ROM and see what will happen

When you installed a different rom did you flash back to your original telcos baseband? This makes an enormous difference to signal strength.

i am in the uk with 3 network
for some time i have been experiencing loss of network all of a sudden thoughout the day
specially if i tether my phone via wireless
i have changed its software (rom and modem) and I am still experiencing this loss of network
in order to get network again I must reboot the phone, it is the only way of getting it back working
I travel a lot to Portugal and take the phone but I do not seem to have experienced this there
tough i dont tether there nor i use the connection for data
currently i am using a slim rom 4.2.2 build 8 official
the baseband is i9100xxLs9
any toughts about what is happening? do you think the phone is to blame? software? hardware? sim card?

I already tried that. I reflashed and put a new modem aswell.
It improved the simptoms but they still persist
Any specific modem that you think i should try?
Some times my phone freaks out and just gets corrupt and i have to reflash
Do you think it might be going to die? Maybe replace it?

Flash with this firmware ,hope will help

Put it on gsm mode which is also called 2g mode.
Monitor it if you still loose signal.
If so, then i would recommend you do a clean wipe, use any rom wipe script available and then install your rom back

Hello,
I'm losing my wits, hope you can help me..
My G2 mini (new) worked flawlessly for a couple of weeks, then suddenly lost all network signal. After a few days, thinking it was a software issue, i unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone, and installed CM11. An hour later - full GSM signal. For a few hours.. Since then, i've been having random x hours with, y hours without GSM signal, with absolutely no reason for the changes (phone laying on the table, absolutely no user input).
It might very well be a hardware issue, but my google-fu failed me big time, all i seem to find are GPS issues (which is not the case here, especially since i don't need GPS on this particular device).
Here's a breakdown:
- The phone originally worked with no signal loss (original OS)
- Unlocked bootloader, rooted, installed CM11
- Signal works for a few hours every day (random pattern), loses it just as miraculously.
- Device finds no networks when using the in-built search functions, but i receive no error message. When using Automatic registration, the phone displays: "Can't connect to this network right now. Try again later".
- My SIM card works fine in my D802, same issues occur on the D620 with a different SIM card (which also works without fault in the D802), so it's definitely a phone issue.
Questions: Anyone have any idea what's going on? Could it be a baseband flaw? Is there a way to (re)install the baseband, to eliminate any possible software issues?
I have disassembled the case, and all pins have wear marks embedded, which means there's plenty of contact, as far as i can see.

Unfortunately, my issue seems much more severe. Toggling the airplane mode, restarting the phone, nothing seems to work. It just regains the signal whenever it feels like it. For instance, it's been "off" for a few days now, with the exception of 2-3 hours a couple of days ago.

With the latest release the problem disappeared. With previous releases I would open the phone sometimes and it wouldn't have any signal. I either had to restart it or toggle airplane mode on and off....

Ah ok thanks, I was thinking about the last..
hello everyone, my friend has this phone and he broke the LCD of the phone and we got it replaced with a new one, now there i a problem with the network. it cannot connect to any network. it just says ''unable to connect to network at this time'' i tried flashing the KDZ again but no luck, airplane more reset and thing nothing helps.
This happened to me once too when i broke the same phone and after the replacement it was getting onlu 3G signal (WCDMA) and couldnt connect to any 2G (GSM) network.
Can anyone please help me if anyone knows the issue here please

Is anyone else experiencing network problems with Samsung Alpha 850F, my phone is dropping calls and network. It reconnects after few seconds but it is really annoying.
I got latest firmware: G850FXXU1BOA2, changing network setting only to GSM doesn't help much, I have tried with different sim card and I still get same result. Alpha is not bought from provider but in retail store and it was rooted, so I guess I cannot send it to warranty.
WiFi connection is stable and I don't have any problems with it.
Anyone has suggestion what can be done?

As far as I'm concerned, the same thing is with everyones phone (signal strength is always at approximately ~-103 dBm) but I've never experienced such an issue with dropping calls nor network itself. Nothing you can do about it, everyone is experiencing this issue.

I also see the signal drops but never experienced problems with phone calls. I think it depends on the provider too, if you got a cheap poor signal provider you're more likely to face these call drops.

My friend had same problrm with S5 and he fixed it with factory restoring defaults and changing CSC to his region. I'm waiting for android 5.0 so I can that also.

I do have the following problem which is not new and mentioned in other threads but there is no solution and the threads are quiet old - so I hope it is OK to start a new one:
My LeMax2 is constantly dropping the network signal and the signal is in general very weak (I can only get calls outside, Internet is working irregular "sometimes", outside only. After arrival signal was fine. No difference. Flashed a couple of different custom roms, still fine. Ended up using SmallEUI. After a while (maybe two weeks) signal dropping began. What I tried so far:
- Flashed alternate modem file from SmallEUI, no difference.
- Switched rom back to india20s. Problem stayed the same. -
- Switched to LOS13 (which is still running).
- Entered *#*#4636#*#* switched and set GSM/UMTS band to automatic. Problem got worse.
- flashed various modem files, no difference
- renewed APN settings. No difference.

Have you looked into your carrier? Maybe it's not a device problem..... Try a signal app to see if your connecting to the right bands, getting a good enough signal ....
Have you tried a factory reset?
When I was with T-Mobile they cut service in my area without letting customers know, I ended up buying a signal amplifier for my house to finish out my contract.

thank you for your reply. I put the SIM card into another phone and it worked like a charm. So I think it is not the carrier. Rechecked the APN settings also. Regarding the LTE band I am not sure. Most of the time I only get a H+ connection so no LTE band at all. Thing is: The connection was really good with this phone in the beginning.
Factory reset: Yes, and even more (flashed 6 different roms I think and various modems)

Hey, did you have success in resolving the issue?
I had problems too with my le s3 x626, it didn't recognize the sim card anymore, froze, and had to force reboot. Luckily, it was a battery issue. For some reason when the phone goes under 10%, it does that. Easily solved upon charging (happened more than once).
Same issue in the philippines
Heyyo, I'd recommend looking into AEX as @shivatejapeddi recently made a bunch of changes for VoLTE and carrier settings that might help.
Otherwise? It could be your carrier might need further apn and carrier configuration changes in order to work at least on custom ROMs.
Another thing to try? Replacing your /system/etc/apns-conf.xml with this one from the Pixel 2 XL. Download it > reboot to TWRP > mount system > make a copy of that /system/etc/apns-conf.xml somewhere as a backup > replace the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml with the one downloaded > reboot to system > reset apn configuration to defaults to force ROM to reload apns-conf.xml

magandang umaga! I'm mestizo and my wife is a Filipina, thus my son is second generation mestizo hehe. What carrier you with? I can try and look into it but no guarantees I can fix it.

Ok this is super weird but the Leeco Le Max pro I used had the same issue. BUT. When I'd switch on the hotspot, and let someone connect to my Leeco, they get unrestricted LTE speeds. I cannot use my phone data plan but others can using my wifi So. I don't know exactly what's the issue. All those with this issue do check their hotspot capabilities. Thank you.

tried everything, the last one to do for me is REWRITE IMEI on the phone, i noted a strange IMEI=0 or some difficult in reading it (x526 from myefox.it)

anyone got this resolved guys? i just bought two leeco x520 phones and both have the same issue. wifi keeps dropping over and again every 10 seconds or so. It's like a loop........ drop .. reconnect .. drop .. reconnect .. and so on. tried two roms so far, currently on lineage os 16.0 and have the same issue on this rom too. on top of the connectivity problem, a new problem has came up .. the phone shuts down while playing games which is super annoying. and the phone heats up a lot while recharging the battery. i'm so fed up
