e-mail's backup from built in e-mail client - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
i have Sony Xperia Z2 and i use built in e-mail client for my mailbox. i use POP3 protocol and i didn't leave any copy of my e-mail's on the server. all my e-mail's i have in my device now. i have to transfer all my e-mails to my pc but i didn't find any export or backup option. the only method i found is forward one by one but i have more than 4000 e-mail's!
do you know any solution?
is it possible to copy all my e-mails from built in e-mail client???

I've never used the e-mail client stop I wouldn't know. On your fone, you need to search for where the e-mails are stored. It will probably be a single text file. Connect you fone to your pc and copy that over. If you use IMAP instead of POP3 in future, you shouldn't run into this problem. But then I guess you know that now...

There are a few directories where app stuff is stored. Try
1 - /system/app
2 - /system/priv-app
3 - /system/etc/product/applications
4 - /data/app
It might be in one of those..

Backup the email app with Titanium backup and look into the compressed backup files, there will be some database with all emails in it. You might be able to read it with some SQL reader or similar.

[Q] Archive email to SD to free up exchange mailbox (like outlook pst?)

I'm syncing my exchange mails to my android tablet (running honeycomb 3.1)
Is there a way to archive my email messages to a different folder (sd card) to free up my Exchange mailbox on the server?
Correct me if I'm wrong, I checked touchdown and k-9 mail and I don't see this capability.
Thanks for any help/suggestions!
BUMP
I am looking for something similar.
I found the Ipad app pst mail that does it even using Dropbox to store your pst file but I cant find anithing like that for android and I really dont want to jump the the dark side because of this.
Please help
I don't think you are required to do so. Just put it in internal as it don't used up a lot of space unless you have picture with maybe 10mb attached. Gmail or email will constantly help you to clear up those unused data.

[Q] Still Downloading old mail

My S3 continues to download old mail (most of which I know has been deleted) from as far back as February (and continuing backwards). This happens on several accounts (BT, Orange, MSN).
Any ideas?

The phone can't download something that does not physically exist. Even Samsung can't do that...
If you are using IMAP your other/old client might've moved the email to the Trash folder instead of actually deleting them. Note that this will also cause your email account to fill up.
The old email account probably didn't "update to server" correctly, so emails that were deleted from the client (phone) weren't actually deleted on the sever.

Still doing it
Cleared all online servers of messages I can find, and the deleted folders and the trash from PC and phone. The s3 is now downloading messages (emails) from last September. From Freeserve (orange) BTinternet and MSn. All of which i am sure have been cleared.
I am deleting from Phone, email and trash folders, ditto pc.
The phone cannot download messages that do not exist.
So they have to exist somewhere, even if you can't see them in your provider's webinterface.
Try using a good IMAP client (such as Thunderbird) and check if there is any folder with contents.

[Q] Gmail or Email APK configuration

HI guys,
I am a system admin and we are using an approved MDM to manage our BYOD policy. The thing that sucks about this MDM is that it only supports POP3 or IMAP for email protocols. The great part is that i can push my own "approved APK's to the phones. I know you can use Titanium Back up to pull email setups from one rom to another given that they are the same version. Is there a way to edit either the Gmail APK or the Email APK to have the configuration file inserted so that when it installs it has the proper setup for the user account or maybe a system file something like TB?
We are using google apps for email so either application works for this.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Email app which allows per-message deletion from server

I am currently using K9 email which seems to be the least bad app for POP3
This has a global config for server deletion (POP).
It is useful, when travelling, to got rid of unwanted emails there and then. Is there an email app which, when you delete an email, it prompts if you want to delete from the server also?
I have had apps previously which did that, on Symbian and Windows, but don't know of any for Android or IOS.
Another solution is an app which downloads headers only; these exist for Windows and usually have a server delete option. Such an app is handy anyway, in case somebody has sent you a 20MB email while you are roaming But I have never found one for Android. It must be dead easy to write...
Or of course one could install a second email app which is configured for server deletion and just run that for this purpose, but that's stupid.
Another solution for cleaning up the mailbox is to use webmail...
I don't think anybody reads this forum but in case somebody finds this on google, I can confirm Maildroid does exactly that I wanted.
