Im on 5.1.1 G625i LATAM 64gb. Using stock everything, not rooted.
If i got it right there's 2 types of root:
1. Tripping KNOX: No issues but increasing counter.
2. Not tripping KNOX: disables fingerprint and call sound, but there's a fix for call issue.
Is these information correct? Also, is there any link to go on the #1 (tripping knox)? This forum is kinda weird, stuff are not that organized, can't find stuff easily.
think so
Any1 else?
SM-G925I on 5.1.1 stock?
sadly I believe there is only one option for you. which is CF-AutoRoot.
AutoRoot flashes your phone with the root binary and will trip Knox.
The non-Knox tripping option which you alluded to is called PingPongRoot and utilizes an exploit that was patched between 5.0.2 and 5.1.1.
There is a third option but it is only available on the T-Mobile variant of the S6E. (SM-G925F I believe).
Anyone please verify
knox and fingerprint

In about a week, I'll be gifting a Note 3 to my wifey and mom and I'm planning on rooting their phones. Based on what I've read so far, it seems like there is no way to root MJ4 without setting off the Knox flag, am I right?
Second question is, once I've rooted MJ4, can I still flash future tar updates even with Knox set at 0x1? I know I cant revert/downgrade but I should be able to flash newer updates, right?
Edit: One more question. . Is there a Knox-safe bootloader version people are using when upgrading to just the newest ROM's, kernels, and modems? On the S4, we're using the MF9 bootloader stripped of Knox when upgrading to MJA and MK2.
Quick update. The latest Kingo root app worked just fine on MJ4. Root without setting off Knox.
I just picked up the Galaxy Note 3, I didn't want a spark enabled phone as I want to use hotspot + voice at the same time.
I am coming from an LG G3 that I still have but will not use until sprint rolls out VoLTE and before that I had a Galaxy S4.
My phone is stock at NAB and I am not sure what is the best way to get root and run the latest version of the firmware. Will towelroot or CF-AutoRoot work and is there a way for me to not trip knox but still run a firmware version higher then NAB?
I've read a few topics in this forum and did a search for NAB and none of them have been clear as how to root the firmware version of NAB and update it to the latest hopefully without triggering knox. I don't really care if knox is tripped but if I can keep my warranty why not right? If there is no other way i'll just update to NH7 and use SuperSU or CF-AutoRoot root method that I read about.

If you want to run the latest, then you'll need to trip Knox.
Any major changes between NAB and NH7? Such as a major performance increase or significantly better battery life? If not I can just use towelroot right?
From what i can find the changes for NC5
Enhancements/Fixes
Wi-Fi Calling
NH7
Enhancements/Fixes
Android 4.4.4
HD Voice Icon support
International WiFi Calling support
Google Security Patches
KNOX 2.0
Kids Mode (Added within app tray instead of just a widget)

Definitely battery improvements, I really can't speak to NAB to NH7 performance changes. My phone came with NC5 as I got it from Sprint last Feb.

If you don't want to trip KNOX, and don't need Kids Mode then you can still update to NC5 and root with Towel Root. Here is a link for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/general/samsung-note-3-rom-flashin-basics-t2896440 Enjoy !!!
Thanks
I am now running NC5 rooted with towel root and it works very well. I just need to find a permanent way to disable firmware update notifications next.
Hello,
I just got s S6 Edge SM-G925F, It has already android 5.1.1 version with kernel: version: 3.10.61-5447113. I would like to root the device using the pingpong tool without tripping Knox and I read that is not working on android 5.1.1.
My question is: if i downgrade from android 5.1.1 to 5.0.1 is it possible to root the device without tripping knox ?
Another question is : Am I gonna trip knox if after I root the device after I downgrade to android 5.0.1 and install TWRP for example in order to flash another ROM ?
A word of caution, downgrading from 5.1.1 to 5.0.2 is possibly ill-advised, and not for Knox reasons, according to sources .
Apparently the bootloader introduced with the 5.1.1 update takes offence to trying to be downgraded and throws the phone into a bootloop.
however, you are in a privileged position, running the F variant, there is a way to do pretty much whatever you want without worrying about Knox.
see this thread for details.

Thanks a million for the information, I am still not sure if I will root it because I like the fingerprint scanner functionality.
Hi all.
I dont know if someone already knows this by i'm asking also for myself
I know that there is a way (i.e. ping pong root-tested by me) to root out s6 (edge) without tripping knox only if we are on 5.0.2 with 5.0.2 bootloader. And i know there is a way to flash even without a custom recovery (i.e. flashfire -not confirmed).
So....is it possible to downgrade from totally stock 5.1.1 to 5.0.2?
After that....Is it really possible to flash rom ZIP using flashfire?
In this way the theorically have 5.1.1 rom (with root) with 0x0 counter, right?
Thanks in advance

I dont think if there is any way to root 5.1.1 without tripping Knox. There are lots of people waiting to root 5.1.1 without tripping knox (including me )
yes i know ON 5.1.1 we cant (at least, for now). by the way, i mean not to root 5.1.1 but to downgrade to the rootable 5.0.2 and AFTER to flash 5.1.1 using flashfire that doesnt use custom recovery.

As far as I know, downgrading is still virtually impossible. For example here:

and especially here:

Downgrading is virtually impossible at the minute. And rooting 5.1.1 without voiding KNOX is also virtually impossible, unless you are on the F variant.
where there are creative ways to get it done with the leaked 5.0.2 engineering bootloader, but you lose fingerprint scanner functionality.
I have been sitting on the 5.0.2 waiting for news of a 5.1.1 root, but it seems as if there is none forthcoming :<
Hopefully the Marshmallow update bring us some good vulnerabilities.

I am S6 edge 5.1.1, rooted. Just flash the Uni-kernel (there inclodes root access). It perfectly works for my device only shows on boot that kernel is not seandroid enforcing. But it works perfectly.
So you're still 0x0 knox?
Well it's been a while since I've checked, but Im having a lot of trouble rooting my phone. Ive figured since the s7 is out, maybe someones done it without tripping knox on my model
I almost dont really care about knox
But id prefer one that doesnt trip it just in case.
Galaxy S6 Edge
5.1.1
G925-T
UVS3DOJC
Can someone help me? Im really trying get NetHunter on my phone
5.1.1 cannot be rooted eithout tripping knox because it requires flashing a kernal that roots the phone and that kernal is housed in the boot partition. Marshmallow can be rooted by the old method of flashing twrp and flashing a supersu flashable zip. So unless Im wrong (may a someone correct me if so) 5.1.1 cannot be rooted without tripping knox. Idk if flashing twrp will trip on marshmallow so do some research on that. If it doesnt there you go all you have to do is wait for it then. If not then its not possible as far as i know. I cant tell you MM wise because i tripped my knox on L5.1.1
