I have the Sony MHL adapater and when I use it on the Xperia Tablet Z SGP312 I am getting no audio output but video is fine. I used to get audio but one day it stopped and I just didn't bother trying to figure it out and used my phone instead. I would like to figure out why the audio isn't working through the mhl cable. The mhl adapter is fine as it works perfect with my other Sony Xperia devices it is just the tablet. Doing a backup right now and will try a reset to see what that does but was wondering if anyone else had an issue like this or any ideas.
I also have this with my Xperia Z did you find a solution?

Yes I did but don't remember where the setting was that fixed it. I will check tomorrow and see if I can find it again.

HI, can you give a hint how I can fix the same problem on my xperia z4 tablet ? Thanx
Hello XDA members, I have installed recent version of Viper4android on my Xperia ultra, which has recent firmware.290 rooted with stock ROM and unlocked bootloader, I know all settings of vipre4android and been using on my HTC phones since long time with great result.
But with Xperia ultra I tried all things many times installed and removed viper to try different drivers and settings but no result no any changes in music at all, I tried default Walkman, and tried win-amp, Apollo, Power-Amp with no success, all time the driver status shows me not processing and no change in sound effects, I tried to installed all drivers with no luck.
Is there any one using Viper4android? and is it working on our Ultra?
Is there anything specific settings we need to use?

No, I meant the viper version, I think they have a dedicated version for android 4.3.
That's if we're talking about the same app... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vipercn.viper4android4x
?

I was not able to get it working either :/
I've successfully gotten Viper working on 4.2.2 on my ZU, haven't tried 4.3 though.

Nope, had everything stock. Just had root access, installed viper, and then installed the viper driver. C6833 too.
Make sure you do tick the box at the top (Master control or something) for each output section (headphone/bluetooth/speaker) to actually turn on viper though. That got me the first time and I thought it wasn't working.

Just wondering if you guys have unlocked bootloaders? Guess so if you're rooted on 290... There are a few media apps that require drm with locked bootloader on xperia devices, wonder if that could be contributing factor? Someone with more knowhow may be able to dismiss this instantly

I got it to work on 4.3 (290)
1. FX version v2.3.1.1 (Android 2.3~4.3). Let it install, reboot
2. FX Compatible Mode: Compatible
3. Go to Settings > Sound > Music Effects > Viper4android
4. From Poweramp, Settings > Audio > Advanced Tweaks
-Uncheck Direct Volume Control
-Check MusicFX
5. From PowerAmp Tone control, switch on MusicFX. Then press and hold the same button, so that it takes you to the V4A settings screen.
V4A will take effect then.
Hope this helps!
I am going to try this...so to clarify, the latest version did not work, only that one you specified?
Well i started on the most recent version and couldn't get it to work so i moved down the list..

For me it worked just fine. It doesn't work for the whole phone like YouTube and other things. Only for music apps after changing the sound settings to viper. Found that the Sony one works better in my opinion. Viper worked amazing on note 2.

Yeah Viper on Note2 work all across. Oh well, maybe at some point it will work again for the Ultra.

Hello friend, I noticed the same thing in my c6833 with kitkat.
Even videos... the audio was played in the ear speaker, and very low.
Altought, when I rebooted my phone, everything went to normal.
For me, it's not a constant.. more like a bug
I have also experienced this on one occasion, and it's a known bug that affects all Sony devices on KitKat. I'm sure Sony is working on it.

I have experienced that too. I don't know why but now it seems to stop. I'm not sure what, but turning off all the Sound enhancement, esp the dynamic equalizerseems to be the solution for me.

Would a custom rom fix this? If yes I'm doing it today.

i tested headphones with netflix, but built in speaker with games...
did u try turning off the noise cancelling? I could imagine, that this produces a little delay.

NEW FLASHABLE ZIP FOR ALL ROMS AT BOTTOM OF POST. Stereo speakers with no forced High Impedance.
If you want to support a broke dad of four kids any donations are appreciated.
I am also planning on building ROMs for the V20 since most devs have dropped out.
I am also almost finished with my complete social app.
Any donations will get you my social app for free.
It will be on the Play Store soon. However if you donate PM me with your donation info and I will send you a copy for free.
Mirror to all files at bottom of post.
Credits first off to my friend Freeza for which this mod was based off of. He gave me the go ahead to use and moddify any way I like.
This is the result.
I understand there are many files here but I like options.
Trying to support as many V20 variants as we have.
This is tested and works flawlessly on my Sprint LS997. This should work for all variants but this is made from latest firmware updates ZV7.
This is something I have been working on for a few days and have now got it Perfected.
I bring you Stereo sound via Front and Bottom firing speakers. Lowered volume to help protect your expensive device.
I bring you Quad Dac high impedance mode when HiFi is enabled.
Enjoy the full audiophile experience.
Hit like if this helped you out.
Unzip the file. Place it in root of internal storage in folder System/etc. Set permissions, turn device off then power back on.
That is all.
After setting my device up again I am pretty sure I found the problems some had as I had them that time.
Found and fixed the problems. Hifi really FORCED with Stereo.
rootlinux stereo high impedance FIXED
All files moved to the bottom of this post. Link contains all zip files.
Louder FIXED
Volumes bumped up but still below dangerous levels.
Louder MAX version 1
Louder MAX version 2. Master volumes turned up
More pronounced stereo effect FIXED
Louder front speaker to blend sound levels for a more emersive feeling.
High Impedance Bottom speaker ONLY loud without stereo effect.
Restore to default settings.
Edit...
OLDER
If you are on older firmware, try this file.
It doesn't work on my updated firmware as it is based on my friend Freeza's older firmware update and modded further by me.
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/596b8baba4348/mixer_paths_tasha.xml.zip
Louder Test Mod based on Freeza's mod.
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/597141478a03c/Old_Mod_Enhanched_Stereo.zip
More pronounced stereo sound. Louder front speaker ( still well under max volume ) to get a better sound experience.
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/596bfd0092333/rootlinux_more_pronounced_stereo_effect.zip
Even more pronounced stereo effect test file.
Try it and let me know. Based on latest firmware.

Just checked, the file is correct. Cover your bottom speaker and then put your ear to the top. You will then hear it. What is happening is in stereo the sound appears to be coming from the center of the device. I can raise the volumes and release a safety warning for it. Not a problem. The top speaker can not typically handle the same volume as the bottom. That is why I equaled them out.
