I would be willing to pay someone if they can find a way to root the i545 on Android 5.0.1

Multiple people have reported that Kingroot roots OC1. Why do you say it doesn't?
I have tried every version of kingroot to no avail. And yes I have OC1. Any ideas?

Try the desktop version of kingroot.
Make sure you are using Kingroot not Kingoroot.
I've tried every version if kingroot to no avail. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

1. READ. Do some searches. Forums aren't customer service departments. I'm lecturing you because you are lazy.
2. Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/general/root-of1-t3249971. This is CONFIRMED to work on Verizon Galaxy S4 devices. I have one. I followed the instructions. It worked.

I posted this question before that root method was a thing. You are the lazy one because you didn't even take the time to read the dates of when the threads were posted. I appreciate you linking me to a solution but by now I have already found one.

Cab someone direct me to the "one click root"? And maybe even to the downgrade if you can?
I have to root my replacement device but I have no internet. So I'm downloading everything to my phone then transferring the files to my friends laptop. So much work. Lol. I can't find these things on the XDA App.

There is no "xda endorsed" method to "one click root" because such methods for the thunderbolt are prone to screwing up your phone and leaving the person doing it in a world of headaches (since if they're using such a method, they have no idea how to undo it probably and even less of an idea of how to describe what they did to someone who could help them). The methods that are out there though are just a hacked together automated method of doing what the stickied topic in the development section does manually in steps.
You're better off not rooting if you don't want to try that or wait/pray that someone with time/patience will walk you through that method.

I said endorsed (it's listed in the stickied post for noobs in the development section, but it's not on its own like the manual method) and not prone to errors. Not sure what you didn't understand about it since I never said methods didn't exist and weren't posted. However, that does not mean you're going to see it stickied at the top of the development section and recommended using. Just because it works for you (the time you tried it) doesnt mean doing it isn't gambling with everything being configured correctly and something unexpected not happening outside the scope of what the automation script for rooting can do.

The way you wrote it sounded like you were implying that it wasn't on XDA anymore. I don't really care if it destroys my phone. If it does, ill get a new one or just fix it. I can't install SDK on my friends computer cause he doesn't want it on there. All I want is a link to the thread or download. I know all of the possible dangers in doing this. I have done this multiple times.

Pretty much any method is fairly streamline now. There's a root toolkit that does all the work for you, all you have to do is enter in a number that relates to the command when you run it. Be certain you are using the proper root method for your carrier and follow all instructions carefully.
Tripping the flash counter happens when you flash your recovery via odin. It triggers the built in counter in download mode to show that you have "tampered" with the device, and therefor can be refused warranty work. To avoid this, use either ADB through command line, or terminal emulator.

I agree that there is a lot of posts all over the place but to all fairness, there is posts in this same section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722344 that shows you exactly what to do to root.
I agree that you NEED TO READ. If you aren't willing to do the research you're going to have an expensive brick instead of an amazing phone running Jelly Bean roms or whatever you choose.
Also, don't just rely on one thread. Read multiple so you see opinions and suggestions.

Don't think it matters if you trip the flash counter any more there's an app to get rid of it Triangle Away. Also be careful many people have Lost there Imei# and now have a very expensive mp3 player. Might be a good idea to wait until they figure out how to back up imei first.

I think it's funny how quick everyone is to tell people to read - When there are likely many threads that you've started that a google search could've solved in 5 minutes. He had plenty of other questions that had nothing to do with how to root his device. Yes reading can help solve most of his issues, but when you have the possibility of turning a 600$ phone completely worthless, it doesn't hurt to ask questions.
Really, get over yourselves.

It is pretty straight forward. Make sure you have the drivers installed before rooting. In short, follow the instructions to the point. If you are worried about tripping your flash counter, there is a specific root method you follow. If you do not care, then you can use the tool kit. If you look through the posts in the development section, you will easily find it. PM me if you need help.

The reason I told you to look it up is not because I don't want to help you, it is because it is extremely easy to find and by you not even looking it shows you're lazy.
You have to get used to the forums and finding **** yourself, that is why those of use who help the noobs out try to get them to find things for themselves. It instills confidence and gives them an idea of how the forums are laid out. You refusing to look it up after being told to shows you're lazy and want everything handed to you.

Seriously? I told him exactly where it was. If he can't find it then maybe he shouldn't be doing such complicated things.
I busted my ass reading everything I could before I unlocked my S3 and before I flashed any Roms just to make sure I didn't **** anything up even though that wasn't my first rodeo with flashing and unlocking. If I had questions I asked them but if I was told to look something up I damned well did it. If he absolutely couldnt find it because it was some obscure post that would be one thing, that however is not the case. I did all that research again when I unlocked my Note 2. He obviously knew to post in Q&A instead of General or one of the Dev sections, that says he had some knowledge of the forums layout and where to post what.
Him not looking it up was pure laziness, if he cannot find such a simple thread then he doesn't need to be unlocking and flashing ROMs.

Has it been proven safe? No.
Has it been proven malicious? No.
Currently there are only 2 ways to root. Kingo and vRoot.
All you can do is read and read some more, then make a decision that's best for you.
There is NO definite answer as to whether there is a 100% safe way to root MJ7.

There are no links Not allowed on XDA . Use Google.
I have no idea which one is safer. I'm not sure if either one is safe. I don't think anyone has a definitive answer yet.

I used vroot and had success and I can say I have seen no suspicious activity at all, yes vroot installs a Chinese superuser app but that's easily replaced with the normal su app, and this exploit seems to get around all Samsung's security not triggering anything except a custom lock when you boot up but even that can be faked using xposed framwork and the wanam app which hides it leaving no sign your phones fully roooted !
I guess once its made open source we will know more. Do you know if it leaves any residual stuff on the device from being rooted from the program. Like vroot leaves its Chinese version of Super User.

Are there even any ROMs out that work for MJ7? Is the superuser app that the program installs, is that all it installs. Seems like it might put something in the background of the phone to make it "keep escaping" knox.

There are no ROMs for MJ7. No custom recovery. No Safestrap. Just root.
All these questions you're asking have ALL been answered several times. Do a little research. There's plenty of info here on XDA.
If you don't feel comfortable using these exploits, then don't use them. Wait a while. You never now what lies ahead.
Nobody here can tell you if it's 100% safe because we just don't know. All I can tell you is that I haven't seen anyone on these boards say anything "bad" has happened with there PC or phone.
I knew 2 days straight without an "MJ7 root or recovery" thread was too good to be true

I used that video guide and software on my s4 4.3 and then used a another tutorial on here to swap and remove the Chinese super user to the standard super user app and I've not had any problems in the last month of doing this. Everything went great and easy with no issues.

I don't trust the Chinese. From past experiences, they will do whatever it takes to profit and take your money illegally. Just because nothing has happened to anyone YET does not mean it will not happen in the future. You don't know what kind of backdoor might be planted and what sort of information they're collecting or will collect from your device.
Please be patient. Unless you're life depends on root access. Hold off until a trusted developer can provide us with something we can all enjoy.

That's obviously a blanket statement. If you see somebody being rude confront them through PM.

Who was being rude? If you look on Page 1 of the Q&A forums you will see that this thread is titled exactly like the other one that is 3 pages long.
The community was fine with all the senior members. You say it's because of the senior members this community is killing the reputation?
I'm going to say no. It's the junior members "Please give me everything on a silver platter" mentality and entitlement issue that's killing the reputation of this site. The site operated perfectly fine before whiny kids started showing up only to post things that have already been discussed HEAVILY and to post because they know how to hit "Reply".
I'd rather have Senior Members post with logic and experience than Junior Members, such as yourself, talking bad about them and cluttering up an already useless thread with off-topic posts that had nothing but negativity behind it.
Hope you understand.

thanks but seriously? scour through literally a thousand posts of outdated methods with no real way to distinguish the working one from the rest? no search terms or anything? did mods give up on accessibility?

Not sure what the mods have to do with this?
They didn't create the thread, the OP can add tags to help searching.
The thread in question is 4 years old, which is old in Android years.
ONYXis the OP hasn't posted in a Amazon Fire forum since 2016 and has moved on to other devices.
You didn't even post in the original thread where you would likely get the most useful views.

Current Xda search isn't great but it is being updated with the new site along with other big changes.

I guess this place is a lot looser to what i've been on before lol, i've seen places where people were encouraged to message mods (or mods did it themselves) to update main posts with the current fix/method/whatever, i guess i should post on that thread instead? honestly i didnt even think to check the date on that last reply i just thought there's no way it would still be open now, who uses the early kindle fires haha
