I'm a great fan of JustArchi and his work in our i9300 and I've been testing all his work for i9300.
Recently, i've changed to a new carrier that has appeared in Spain, called Tuenti ( property of Telefónica/Movistar). Using JustArchi's ROM, i've noriced that i have to activate Roaming in the same country, to use Internet, and i can't see different qualities of network speed (G,E,H,H+ and so on), I only see R.
Surfing the Internet, I've discovered that this issue is due to a non-updated OS of carriers. I wonder what can I do to help JustArchi to incluye this new Spanish carrier in the ROM to solve this issue.

Hi guys,
I have a similar problem to others as a search has indicated, with no solution.
It was mentioned that some ROMs may have settings that would flag roaming mode when outside of certain regions.
Currently I'm using an LG O2X with the leaked gingerbread ROM.
My original carrier is Fido Canada (which operates on a Rogers network).
The phone is from Fido originally, and of course, was not roaming with this sim before the ROM update.
Interestingly enough, I did the ROM update while I was in Madrid after unlocking the phone and using a Yoigo sim and never got the roaming icon.
Is anyone aware of these settings (in ROM), and how to change them?

I just got my docomo SIM with unlimited data plan.
But somehow i and the guy from the docomo shop couldn't get the data to work. APN is set to spmode.ne.jp

Anyways, i reverted back to stock rom and the problem persits. So it's not a problem of cm.
Is it possible that the s2 doesn't work in japan? In detail, that data doesn't work? Calls work very well.
If someone got the german/international version to work with data in japan please tell me.
Hi,
I bought my galaxys2 in France and unlocked it. It is now potentially possible to use it with any carrier (and I tested it with two other french carriers)
However, I am going to Japan for my job for at least a few years and since my phone is only a few month old, I'd like to keep on using it in Japan.
It is my understanding that if in "about phone" setting window the phone version is "GT-I9000", it means that I have the "international version" of the phone.
Is that right ?
If so, will it work with any japanese carrier (docomo, au, softbank...) ?

It looks like that or probably this thread is hidden, it is one of the most important information to know and I can tell you across where I live (United Arab Emirates) we have two mobile operators only (Etisalat + Du) and when I ask this question for all tiers (Customer service all the way up to chief GSM technicals they go like Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!?? lol, I guess it's the biggest mystery everywhere

I can't say I truly understand since I don't deal with this often and since I moved to Japan I fell off topic even more so. Since its now 2016 I was wondering if they ever found a way to carrier unlock this phone. If it helps my phone is rooted.

I just got this phone, so please excuse me if I state what everyone knows.
That's the kernel I am running, but I have 4.4.2, and I have an AT&T sim in it, but I had to manually switch it to GSM and then choose between AT&T and TMobile network before it would work.
I didn't see any other GSM networks in the list, but I think that after it searched for networks, that is all it could find.
Since miui has been updated to 8.5, it has a very weak reception and at home it does not work at all.
I changed the SIM of 2 different companies and in addition to other phones it works.
maybe it is the miui's problem
im in China and i can provide you miui Chinese edition if you want and there are almost no bugs!
in China it's already updated to 9.1 and it is really powerful
