[Q] No HSDPA since root?

Hey Guys
I rooted my SGS2 yesterday, using Chainfire post, and noticed that i have lost the HSDPA signal that i got before. I have reflashed the phone back to the stock firmware and i still dont pick up any 3g or HSDPA. My download speed via network is shocking, something like 40kbps. Is there something that i need to change to get back on to HSDPA?
Thanks for your help.
I had this, i am on t-mobile (uk) and the phone had connected to the orange network sicnce they now share netowk. Reconnected to t-mob and was then fine, hth.
Thats right... t-mobile (uk) on orange network only does 2G..
Going back to OP... please check the APN settings...by default it might had got reset to GPRS settings...
If in UK..which network are you on...?
i have no clue about APN settings on other countries..
Sweet! It worked a treat! Thanks buddy.

General sudden network loss on vodafone but not others

hey first post on here and really need a bit of help
i've an unlocked galaxy s2. i updated it and its been running 2.3.4 for a while now with various roms over the top
it was XXKG1 and was running perfect on vodafone
all of a sudden it dropped network. still showing bars, but no g,3g or h beside them. can't make or receive calls. says mobile network not avaliable.
i looked immediately at the apn's. cannot see anything wrong with them. reset to default and tried again. no luck. reset phone to default, no luck.
reflashed the stock 2.3.4 using odin, same again.
thought it was therefore a hardware thing so i tried my mums o2 sim card. works perfect. so its something to do with the vodafone settings. tried a different vodafone sim that i have, still same thing. bars but no mobile network
also tried going in and out of flight mode....and double checked just about every setting on the phone
forgot to add that i then flashed the newer XXKG6 firmware and still no luck
created a new apn using the settings from vodafone site, still nothing
help!!
anyone?? please
Vodafone
Same thing happened to me (Vodafone Romania)
Can't really tell yet if it's a phone issue or an operator issue. On Orange it seems to work OK.
There are plenty of threads, including my own, which regard this matter and still no one has a clear view on the matter.
Meanwhile i've sent mine back to service, to rule out the "faulty hardware" problem at least.
Here are some other threads in which this issue is discussed:

Galaxy S2 and Virgin UK

Hi everyone
I'm new here and I have Galaxy S2 on Virgin UK network. I would like to ask S2 owners or anyone who can help me about advice. I spent hours in many forums and I still can't truly get what is wrong with my phone.
The problem occurs when my phone is working in automode (gsm/wcdma). When I get to place without proper 3G network coverage my galaxy s2 goes in to 2G and never comes back from it to 3G (in automode). When I want to come back to 3G I have to reboot my phone or toggle it manually to WCDMA only for a second and switch it back to automode. Whenever I do it I'll have 3G (or H) to the next time when I'll go to the place without 3G coverage.
Is there anyone who owning galaxy s2 on Virgin UK with working 2G - 3G switching in automode (gsm/wcdma). Anyone even in other UK networks or it's just normal behavior for galaxy s2? I know at least 2 people who have the same problem with S2 and Virgin.
I've tried many different roms and a lot of modems too (even orange UK, 3UK, T-mobile UK stock modems), Juice Defender beta, other software switchers and wigets.
Help, please
Not on virgin, but a UK user on 02. Never experienced the issues you are describing, so it seems network specific.
Thanks mate. I need all your opinions before I'll complain to the Virgin.
Possible its the masts you are picking up from .
SGS2 and 1 bothy worked fine on Virgin for me >> have you entered the correct settings from the web site .
CSC for Virgin i always used the CPW carphone warehouse one as some UK csc do not have Virgin settings .Virgin of course runs on the TMobile network .

That will of course have invalidated your warranty from Virgin .You need to restore if sending the phone back .

Of course. I came back to stock firmware 2.3.4 last night anyway.
Thanks I'm going to check CPW carphone warehouse. Settings are from Virgin website and I'm picking up signal in BT4 1QF area now.
EDIT:
Well
I flashed GT-I9100_CPW_I9100XWKF3_I9100XXKE7_I9100CPWKD1 - CPW carphone warehouse with factory restet before of course.
Phone started in 3G obediently. I switched from automode to gsm (what occurs when I'm in place without 3G) and I switch it back to automode again to check whether in goes in automode from 2G to 3G or not. It was last time when I saw 3G icon on the screen. No luck. Still doesn't work. Absolutly the same.
I've heard similar stories on other threads, It may be coincidence, but Virgin runs on the T-Mobile network, and they have just recently started sharing their 3G network with Orange.
There may be some hiccups in the switch over, that's affecting Virgin.
I could be totally wrong, but the dates coincide with the similar Data issues that I have seen discusssed on other threads.
I would call Customer service personally.
Regards and good luck.
I just finished my conversation with customer service. They said that It can happen in places where 3G signal is weak and 2G strong. If there is strong 3G signal switching should work. It should but it doesn't. Thats what I known now. But I'm afraid I knew it before already . They said I can try to replace sim card or mobile.

I've noticed this a bit with my galaxy S2 and its quite annoying, i used to get the T-Mobile network all the time which provided me with 3G quite often but for some reason the switch has left my phone connected to the orange mast with no 3G. I might ring up as well.

I upgraded another device with Orange last week, and they provided a new SIM card. I'm wondering if that's due to the switch.
Good luck.
Regards
I'll try to replace sim next week
Not seen this problem (for me) on my SGS2
SGS2-XXKL1-Hyperoid 5.2.21/Siyah-2.6.7 - Virgin UK.
Although my Virgin Blackberry has the very same problem? time for a customer service call...
Well I sorted out my problem pernamently and I now what is going on. This is network problem. Go to your network settings and change your network from Virgin to virgin I spent 1,5 hour speaking to Virgin support and they couldn't help me. The didn't know. They told me that virgin with small v it's orange in fact but we can use this network that's why it is also named virgin.
Regards
Check your connectivity with calls. My wife is with Virgin but can't get signal at work or home. Their signal on data is only the second usage of T-mobile which is not the best.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Looks like this new EE network is now T-Mobile and Orange. What are Virgin using to do their data?

Help with poor radio/reception quality when hsdpa.

Hi. Hope you can help me with something which is really annoying me.
Got my s3 right at the beginning on o2 with o2 firmware. When making phone calls the reception was crystal clear. I have updated various different versions of ics and jb and ever since the first update a few months ago the reception/radio quality has been poor. It started when I flashed a non o2 firmware, I flashed a stock btu firmware. Since then I have tried various firmwares on various providers and always have the same problem. If I change my phone to gsm only the call quality is fantastic but as soon as I put to auto it sets to hsdpa and goes back to poor call quality, even if I have a full bar for reception. I have since changed the csc to btu on phone and flashed various firmwares again and I still have the problem. I cannot have a £500 phone and be forced to use a 2g signal!
If it was poor from day one I would blame o2 reception but I have lived in this house for 7 years and never had this with other phones, also as said this phone was great originally but after flashing various firmwares it's rubbish now. I am currently using the new o2 jb update released today (my phone csc is btu) I hoped this flash would resolve issue but it hasn't.
Hope this makes sense and hope anyone can give me any tips to resolve my problem! Current signal strength 89dBa 12asu and still poor.
Thanks in advance.

have you tried to flash a O2 modem? maybe it does the trick!
I have the exact same problem however I am on the 3 network. My phone was working perfectly, then I installed the latest 3 branded jellybean ROM, had the exact same problem as you reverted back to stock ICS and the problem is still there. Can you tell me is the bad quality call both ways or just one way? For me it can hear people perfectly well, however the receiving end there is very bad quality. Also my Internet is incredibly slow.
Mine is the other way round, who I speaking to can hear me clearly but it's terrible from my end.
I have used Odin to flash a whole o2 Rom by clicking the pda option but it made no difference. Doesn't matter what stock Rom I flash and change the csc and factory reinstall it won't go back to how it was originally. As mentioned I can resolve the problem by using 2g/gsm network but then using the internet is terribly slow. Should have left it alone!
Have you changed the CSC to both your Original O2 CSC and the BTU CSC? How is your internet speed while on 3G? mine is so slow, half the time it just displays the 'Page timed out' page
My phone was originally o2u csc on o2 firmware and was good.flashed a btu firmware and this made it bad reception so flashed back to o2 firmware and it was very poor still so I flashed back to the btu firmware and changed csc to btu but I still have bad call quality. I presume because I flashed a o2 firmware from sammobile it will be back to a o2 modem?
My 3g data is about 4mb down and 2mb up.
Can anyone help us?
My ping is over 1000 and my download rate is 740kb/s and upload is around 27kbs while on H+ clearly this is very bad. I've tried different radios to no avail.
Since flashing to the latest jb btu firmware my problem has gone!

In need of some assistance:I9300GSMH

Hello, First post here on Xda, Nice to meet you all.
I'm looking for some serious help with my new samsung galaxy S3GSMH International version.
Long story short, My girlfriend lives in germany, While on holiday there I purchased a samsung galaxy s3i9300 and was told it will work in any region any network due to being factory unlocked.
In germany I was using a sim card from VIVA mobile or something of the like and it worked fine.
After I returned home, I switched in my UK Vodafone sim card, A message then popped up saying, Please select sim service:vodafone UK/Vodafone UK prepaid.
So I chose Vodafone UK and clicked on OK, I thought everything was fine untill i tried to make a call and got, Not registered on network.
Now I have searched for days in all types of threads to get this fixed, I have tried flashing stock firmware with odin/emergency recovery Via Kies/Flashing modems/flashing patched modems/patched kernals/Ariza patch/Ariza patch Jb.
My Imei is fine and matches under the battery, The S/N also matches under the battery.
So I just don't understand it, If it asked me to choose which sim service surely that means it has some type of connection with the network? I have full signal bars too.
Is there anything else i need to do to get this working? Because I am at a loss, And I obviously can't take it back due to the shop being in germany
Any help or input is extremely appreciated!
