Hi guys,
Searched all over the place, maybe I'm just not using the right terminology.
I'm modding some CM stuff in framework/base/core, which means framework.jar has to be built.
If I use:
Code:
dopush mmm frameworks/base/ -j32
ART(?) needs to optimize all the apps again.
This makes developing excruciatingly slow.
Does anyone know of a way to bypass this? A nudge in the right direction is also greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Daan
(Also posted this on the cyanogenmod forums, but thought I'd extend the reach a bit : ) )

Greetings!
Well, is how the title says. I want to start making my own systems apps. For instance, I want to start developing a camera apk for my GS3 but the problem is that I don't know how to do it. I don't know how to open those internals files like xml files(they do not open correctly with a note app), .rsa files, .mf files, .sf files, .dex files, .arsc files and the list continues. How to compile and discompile apks or flashable files...
All of this is because I want to star my own proyect, and through this way, to enter the android developing community of the GS3!
If anyone could help me to accomplish this I would be VERY grateful! If theres a guide (I tried to look for one but my research did not throw any result) that would be better!
Hope you could understand me because English is not my main language, but hey, I'm learning
Thank You SO MUCH for YOUR TIME!
Personally I think you should start to learn the programming and code from your toaster, but hey - if you want to damage your S3 - it is your free will (I hope)
OK, let's go to the matter, first. Assessing your coding skills based on your questions, I decided that you should start your learning from this.
Furthermore, to be more presice against your questions, if you would become literate expert in above linked knowledge, feel free to use
this as a small sample.
If it made you curious, why not try for even more interesting news?
OMG ROTFL:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Well, I am now trying to do my best. I think I can manage myself with the info I found...
This application stated that all the tools came within the application but the apktool isn't working, Im new to this entire operation and have a great intrest in learning how to edit apks, and roms. But so far hours of research have just left me to the point of giving up. If someone can please tell me what im doing wrong I would appreciate it very much!

I would recommend checking out the first step of this guide here on compiling AOSP that deals with setting up JDK specifically it recommends using Open JDK 7 instead. Let me know if you have any questions or need further assistance in solving your problem.
Okay thanks a lot, I have managed to do it yesterday but now I'm stuck with compiling, it gives me an error when I try to build it, some conflicts in libnfc-nci, trying to cherry-pick some needed fixes also succeed in error, I'll do a screenshot when I come back from school but again, many thanks
Regards
Okay, now when I try to compile I have some errors, when I do repo sync it tells me at the end that some files need to be merged, like in pic 1. When I try to compile it gives me an error that a separator is missing in a file, like in pic 2. And when i try to cherry-pick the fixes (as in pic 3) it throws me another error, as in pic 4. My main question is: how could I merge files and what is it? Thanks in advance!

Hello all,
Ok, so I, for an unknown reason even to myself, am desperate to use the Android ICS/Jellybean bottom system bar on my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. I am using Android 7.0 - Nemesis ROM.
I have been trying to do this for so long, simply lacking the precise coding knowledge to do so. I have downloaded the code from the Android Developers reference website, but am having a lot of difficulty decompiling the Framework-res.apk.
I have read that the magic happens in three files:
Framework-res.apk
System.apk
Services.jar
I have downloaded prior to today a copy of these files, with the hope of swapping them with my own and then changing the DPI to turn my S6 Edge into the old tablet mode. Prior to KitKat, all I needed to do was change the DPI.
I should make it clear, my laptop at the moment is no longer working at the moment, so I would be extremely grateful if somebody, anybody with good knowledge of compiling and decompiling these files, could help me?
Many thanks in advance for your help.
William
Thanks for everybody's help.
