{KERNEL}SiliconValley(11-2-15) - One (M7) Original Android Development

hey guys,i noticed that there is not many kernels supporting caf kernel based roms (CM/Vanir series of roms),so im changing that.
this is my person kernel ive been building for vanir (i run nuke's nightlies, but also switch to exodus and DHO's builds).
lets get to the features:
built with linaro 4.9 optimized for cortex a15 with oodles of gcc optimizations
conservative kgsl policy, uses lower frequencies more often and behaves better than trustzone, which in turn creates less heat from the gpu and mitigates power loss due to ramp ups in frequency
conservative mpdecision with frequency controls
tweaked for smoothness
all krait memutils optimizations and optimized memmove and memset
optimized ioschedulers
uksm with decimalmans optimizations
undervolted slightly by default for less heat
overclocked l2 cache & gpu & bus & i2c & cpu
fixed i2c frequencies
f2fs support
wake gestures
motley's enhanced thermal
and ALOT of arm specific optimizationsi suck at ops lol,but id like to thank everyone in my github commit history,i mostly do my thanks on there, but a big thanks to decimalman and tommy-geenexus whos work are really the key parts of my builds, also thanks to poondog for his work gives me a lot to research and learn from, and again thank you to everyone in my git history,i couldnt do anything you guys have.
just flashing the zip should suffice for installation,BUT CHECK YOU SYSTEM/BIN FRO THERMALD AND MPDECISION,if they are still there either rename them with .bak at the end or delete them,ESPECIALLY THERMALD,it WILL cause reboots and sods and MANY other problems if not disabled.

I love your kernel it's features. My best ROM is AICP and I need to use your kernel. I'm waiting new build...

How do you enable dt2w? It's not showing in Trickster and flar2's Wake Gestures app shows "Not supported"
Thanks!

I "think" I haven't tried but as long as they use a kernel similar to cm's it should work fine

[KERNEL] CM+ v0.5

Hey everyone,
A friend of mine was telling me today he was sad for having long-term stability problems with iR's awesome kernel as well as low microSD card read speeds which gave him no choice but to return to CM kernel. However, he also said he missed some features such as the InteractiveX governor which has a handy suspend profile, among other stuff. So I volunteered to grab CM kernel and add some goodies to it; in case he's not the only one in this scenario, I've decided to share it with you all.
Remember, all credits belong to whoever worked on the CM kernel source, I've only tweaked it a bit which didn't take more than 20 minutes.
Currently works:
Wherever CM kernel works.
Changelog:
Code:
v0.5:
- Updated to latest CM source.
v0.4:
- Disabled arch unwind & frame pointer (performance boost).
- Undervolt to the min frequency (800,925 mV) to improve standby batt.
v0.3:
- Added Autogroup scheduling feature to CFS. *
- Some sysctl and lmk parameters tweaking.
- Some CFS and Autogroup patches.
v0.2:
- Added Lazy governor.
- Increased OC support.
- Improved CRC32 algorithm.
- Increased VM_MAX_READAHEAD.
- Added SLQB mm allocator.
- '+' appended to local version (-cyanogenmod+).
v0.1:
- Updated deadline I/O scheduler to a highly tweaked one.
- Set deadline as the default I/O scheduler instead of BFQ.
- Added InteractiveX and Smartass2 governors, made ondemand default.
- Switched TCP Congestion control to Veno.
- Added Stochastic Fair Blue network scheduler, made it default.
- Updated jHash to latest version (v3).
* significant boost: before & after - note the CPU (@ 1228 Mhz, nightly #242)
tl;dr - I/O performance should improve; more governors; internet/market page loading and overall snappiness should improve.
Download:
v0.5 - 57361ff9252ffedda1798b33d2307843 (925 mV, not signed)
v0.4 - 716744fe2feda8719d141f02e5bd5012 (800 mV *, not signed) | 97d14ab5e72fa86eea6158fed3ae8857 (925 mV, not signed)
v0.3 - e7da28ffe8abcd5b682686a641125a0a (not signed)
v0.2 - b444c96bbe7856dd99d30dc6163eaaa6 (signed)
v0.1 - ef5b3d284870448675327b5fc714f92c (signed)

Instructions: Flash in recovery.
Enjoy.

Loving it so far, I will report any issues should they come up. Thanks for the hard work to bring us something different. I too have been using the stock kernel for the reasons stated above and this is a breath of fresh air. maybe you will convince CM to make this the new stock kernel.....one can hope anyway.

Really great work, I'll try it when you upload it and I'll give you my feedback.
Can you provide a small description of each option that can be changed? I mean in this thread, not on the app. For example I don't know what that deep sleep bar does in CPU tab, or from GPU tab I don't know anything, same with charge tab. From Kernel I don't know what Fsync is. Probably I'm not the only one.
And again, great work :good:

[KERNEL] [GPROJ] GPROJ-X Kernel

I've decided to make a flashable zip of the latest kernel I've been working on. It's based on gproj, with added faux gamma/sound/voltage (thanks paulicat!) and BLX and additional governors and schedulers.
This kernel also has a min frequency of 162 MHz.
The zip includes the lights.so for canadian geebs.
Included governors:
msm-dcvs
userspace
smartmax
powersave
ondemandplus
ondemand
lazy
interactive
intellidemand
asswax
wheatley (default)
performance
Included schedulers:
noop
deadline
row
cfq
fiops
sio (default)
This should work on all CAF based ROMs (CM 11.0, Carbon, Mahdi, etc)
I'm not responsible if this damages your phone, destroys data, etc...

Q: why are there faux and faux free versions?
A: i love a lean kernel. with that said if you never plan on messing with gamma, or
purchasing FauxSound control app then i suggest you use the versions that dont have those features.
makes no sense to use a kernel with lots of bells and whistles youll never use.
Q: whats frontswap?
A: Frontswap -- and cleancache -- with a fairly small impact on the kernel,
provides a huge amount of flexibility for more dynamic, flexible RAM
utilization in various system configurations
When a workload starts swapping, performance falls through the floor.
Frontswap significantly increases performance in many such workloads by
providing a clean, dynamic interface to read and write swap pages to
"transcendent memory" that is otherwise not directly addressable to the kernel.
This interface is ideal when data is transformed to a different form
and size (such as with compression) or secretly moved (as might be
useful for write-balancing for some RAM-like devices). Swap pages (and
evicted page-cache pages) are a great use for this kind of slower-than-RAM-
but-much-faster-than-disk "pseudo-RAM device" and the frontswap (and
cleancache) interface to transcendent memory provides a nice way to read
and write -- and indirectly "name" -- the pages.
Q: I heard if you disable swap, then performance increases.
A: Bottom line is that, without swap:
1. Your system will be less stable.
2. Your system will not be able to hibernate as well.
3. Disk access speed in your system will be slower compared to a system that has swap partition.
Moreover, disk access speed will drop in the course of time.
Q: ive been messing with my frequency settings, and they wont stick. what gives?
A: the installer hardcodes min/max frequencies. if youd like to try something different
run the installer again, and pick new min/max frequencies there.
Q: I'm trying to use gamma control, but the settings dont seem to stick once my screen shuts on/off.
A: im aware of this. if you use the FauxControl app from the playstore your setting will stick better
however youll still have to cycle your screen on/off to reapply the values. im looking into this and hopefully
will figure this issue out soon.
Q: DriveDroid?
A: this is an app that allows you to use your phone as a bootdisk for your PC.
Q: My phones really hot, what the heck did you do!?
A: put your phone down. heavy use of your phone will make it hot. no amount of
kernel magic will keep your phone cool while under heavy use.
Q: just to spite you ive been flashing GPE kernels on sense roms, and they WORK!!!!
A: yes they boot, but any issues you have while expiermenting will make it more difficult
to seperate user error from kernel error. please just use GPE for GPE based roms and SENSE for
SENSE based roms.
Q: if i see you on the street, can i shake your hand?
A: NO
Q: can we have more governors?
A: no, kernels dont like redundancy. having four governors based on the on-demand governor just
isnt good practice.
Thanks mate!! Can I use this in Insertcoin?
EDIT : Also anyway to implement kexec-hardboot?
EDIT 2 : Sorry for the questions, just figure I'd ask now before the thread gets flooded with this question.. but since we have m8 kernel source is there any way to get motion gestures, again, sorry for the questions.

Kexec-hardboot is kind of pointless right now until I figure out why it won't boot sense as the primary rom, but I believe it's already enabled, it was in .torrented's versions at least. Btw if you think you might have any ideas on how to fix that, help is welcome. Pretty sure it has something to do with how partitions are mounted. If you look through the multirom thread you can see my unsuccessful attempts to fix it.
@iHateWebOS good to see your own thread for this

Sorry for the stupid question :
The difference between GPE kernel and Sense kernel? Because I have flashing a GPE kernel with Sense rom (Insertcoin v2.3.0)and it also works well.

Gpe kernel will boot on sense, but you may have touch issues ect. To be on the safe side, and to avoid false bug reports Im posting the two versions.

I'm using Google Now Launcher on a Sense 6 ROM and everything is good. Is there a recommendation of Sense over GPE as Sense is my base or should I be using GPE?
Sense base = sense kernel. Gpe base = Gpe kernel.

The default settings set at default clock speed will net you the best balance. If your looking for more juice run the fauxless version with all wake options disabled.

Hello,
Has anyone tried the Faux enabled Sense kernel on Santoid's NuSense 4.4? Wouldn't boot for me.
Cheers!

Interesting, thank you for the response. Just to be clear you are using his build version R4.4 (not the newest that was rebased)? I ended up with a frozen boot then the display split into colored lines before going black. I am well versed in compiling roms but was not sure if base is a factor for kernels.
Thanks

Using 5.2 now but I've been using his sense 6 rom sense release. It's what I've used for everything I've released so far. As long as its sense android version is 4.4.2 you should be good to go

OK must be a bad flash...I will re download and try again. I can't remember ever having a bad download. I was unsure if your newest posts was only designed to work with his current base.
Thanks
Update:
Re downloaded and checked md5...good download same results. Screen gets stuck at boot then multi-color lines before going to a grey blank screen. I have all the latest firmware and radios, not sure why the Faux enabled Sense kernel will not work for me.

@iHateWebOS - is FFC enabled in these builds, like the ones you've given me in the beastmode thread? If I follow this thread and flash updates, is it the same kernel as those builds? Thanks!
They should be fine for Venom 3.5.0 right?

[ROM][5.1.1] CyanogenMod 12.1 Builds [ Full GCC 5.1 UBER][2015/06/09]

Hello everyone, after long studying both kernel and ROMs, i've decided to start building a ROM of my own for the device OnePlus One. After this I was motivated to try share this work with other devices too.
I'll try always share a odex and also a deoxed version.
Download
Features:
Updated SQL to 3.10.0.2
Optimized SQL code for faster Read/Write
SuperUser
Camera Next
Improved Code of frameworks
Optimized Build and compiled with GCC 5.1 (only kernel is GCC 4.8 for now)
Improved sound with speex resampler
Improved bionic with many optimized libraries
Translation to Russian
More than 150 mem fixes not included on cm builds
Alot of aliasing fixes and ready for aliasing optimizations (better)
F2FS ready for data and cache (only recommend over cache.
Wake Blocker added (don't need to add xposed and don't loose speed since you'll use a inside solution)
More coming soon
Share your opinion and suggestions.
I'm a very praticle user, and my aim will be to get a very fluid stable system, at same time with speed and battery, keeping most stock possible with the optimizations which will improve for real our experience.
Thanks

Thanks. I'm rebasing my whole work so that I can get done a better job. In 1 week I'll launch new rom here.
The rom will be tested at one plus one so, for your device only kernel will be completely stock as I only can test on rom level.
Let me know how it goes.

Very nice rom, fast and smooth, only the big navbar buttons aren't looking good, apart from that a fantastic work, keep it up
