Update 10s to latest Android OS - Viewsonic ViewPad 7 & Variants

I bought ViewPad 10s tablet a while ago and I never used it till now. Only this week I started to use it, but I realized that it has very old OS android 2.2. And it does not even have the google play. It has only 256 MB free space.
I would really really appreciate if one of you (android guru) help me to get the tablet to the latest OS. Otherwise its really unusable
thanks

You are able to install a custom rom like Vega; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397204 . There are newer os versions available, but I would not advice to go any further than ICS as the device is quite old and the specs just won´t run the newer os versions smoothly. ICS will already get your device compatible with alot more apps than froyo.

[Q] ViewPad 10 dual boot x86 help?

Hello,
I purchased the ViewPad 10 dual boot quite some time ago, and have come to the point where it is pointless to have Windows 7 on a tablet with only 16 GB HDD.
As a result, I have been interested in installing Android on this tablet, replacing the existing Windows install.
I know how to install Android, as I have previously upgraded the 1.6 version to 2.2. However, given 2.2 is the latest official version released by ViewSonic, I am stuck.
Can anyone link me to the latest compatible version of Android that works on the ViewSonic? I have researched and read that there is an Android 3.2 release for a 'Vega2' that may work with the ViewSonic 10, though I am not 100% sure about this.
Also, will all Android apps work on the x86 architecture? If they don't work via Android Market, is there another way to get them working?
Hopefully someone can help me out here.
Can anyone help me out.....?
I also have a Viewpad 10Pi
I also have a Viewpad 10Pi and I am wondering if there is anyway to root it? Thanks Tom

Which ROM for hdx7

Hi there!
i am new to the kindle tablets and on looking into this branch of xda
i am confused as i dont know which ROM i can use.
to make it short: i want a stock Android on my hdx7.
thanks und cheers

As far as i know there os only one Rom available here, called hdx nexus. Should be stock Android. I actually cant flash it for testing, because i have a wrong software version installed. If someone knows how to downgrade from 13.3.2.5 to 13.3.2.4 please post a link/tutorial or something like that.
I'm in the same situation as Arthuro88. My HDX 7 is running Fire OS 4.5.1 and I can't use the root technique I found (or towelroot). Has anyone found a way to root this version yet?
I got one of the last, apparently old, HDX's in the store. Luckily for me it had the older firmware on it and I knew better than to register it with Amazon right out of the box. I rooted the device, installed Safestrap, and then realized that Nexus 2.0.1 required a new rev of the firmware. So I upgraded *manually* to the mid-release firmware (the newest older version that was still rootable), hit it with Towel to root it, and flashed it to Nexus 2.0.1. All in all it is a VERY nice ROM. It works extremely well, and has only crashed on me once. My problem with it is that it doesn't support the 4G/LTE radio in my version of the HDX. To be clear: the WiFi works fine, but not the cellular carrier signal I'm getting charged for monthly.
So again- go with Nexus 2.0.1.
As for me, my original plan was to get Kali Linux running on my HDX. I'm shelving that for now and trying to port Firefox OS (Mozilla's Linux-based OS for phones and tablets) to the HDX. None of the "Big Brother" crap from Amazon (FireOS) or Google (Android). Plus it's completely open for development and all apps are basically Javascript_HTML5/CSS since it's web-oriented in its philosophy. I'd post a link but I'm still under my 10 post count. If anyone is interested in helping with the porting project I have a thread already started on this forum.

Viewpad iR7Q Root?

Hello,
I received a new tablet Viewsonic ir7Q. The device is 7", Intel Atom processor, 1GB RAM and 16GB storage.
Does anyone know how to root it? It's running Android 5.1.1.
The device has a decent performance but awful battery life, so I'm trying to first root it, then try look for a custom ROM.
Thanks,
Seems nobody replied to you. Any luck? Battery sucks, and I get veeeery often the screen where its updating step xx/yyy and might take hours.. anyway to disable automatic system updates? Or where is that comming from?
I would like to put a custom rom or upgrade to android 6 if possible, strangly google doesn't find anything for this tablet

Help updating tablet's OS.

Good Evening/Hello/Hi,
I own a Huawei MediaPad 10 Link Plus(16 GB) and I am running stock OS (Android 4.2), unrooted. I am a total stranger when it comes to upgrading OS through bootloader, but I have successfully rooted a phone once, a very long time ago ( but I had no idea what it did and I don't remember how) . So I would like to ask for help on how to upgrade tablet's OS to the newest version that is possible on this device ( I mean it's got 1 gig of ram and a quad core cpu, we can get more juice out of it can we?). I can find a bunch of useful information here, but it seems I am having a hard time finding specifly what I need to accomplish my task. I know that the newest version that's officially possible is Android 4.2, but an unofficial version can be even higher right? The stock OS seems to be super laggy and filled with bloatware and an ugly UI.
I would like that the new OS would be as close to stock Android as possible.
Thank You
I tried to find a custom ROM, but it seems as if there are none really. I also read somewhere that it is not possible to even root the device, so you may have hit a bit of a roadblock. The best thing you can do is install a custom recovery and try to build your own ROM (I know, I know). You'd have to do quite a bit of work since there aren't many files available out there for the device.

Apps won't update probably because ROM is too old, looking for new one

The Xperia Z2 is a great phone, though it is no longer my primary. I still would like to use a few apps on it. They no longer update and I'm assuming it's because the ROM is so old. It's running a Cyanogenmod build based on Android 5!
Questions:
How do you know which versions of Android an app that is in the Play Store is compatible with? What is the oldest version of Android that most apps still support? I'm guessing it's not 5.
Coming from Cyanogenmod, what's the next logical update? Stabability is the most important to me. Most of the time the phone is not even connected to the internet and doesn't have a SIM.
