Hello,
I purchased the ViewPad 10 dual boot quite some time ago, and have come to the point where it is pointless to have Windows 7 on a tablet with only 16 GB HDD.
As a result, I have been interested in installing Android on this tablet, replacing the existing Windows install.
I know how to install Android, as I have previously upgraded the 1.6 version to 2.2. However, given 2.2 is the latest official version released by ViewSonic, I am stuck.
Can anyone link me to the latest compatible version of Android that works on the ViewSonic? I have researched and read that there is an Android 3.2 release for a 'Vega2' that may work with the ViewSonic 10, though I am not 100% sure about this.
Also, will all Android apps work on the x86 architecture? If they don't work via Android Market, is there another way to get them working?
Hopefully someone can help me out here.
Can anyone help me out.....?
I also have a Viewpad 10Pi
I also have a Viewpad 10Pi and I am wondering if there is anyway to root it? Thanks Tom

Hi there,
I've currently got my hands on an Archos A70H2-V3 device that a friend asked me to root.
I've run into a couple of snags though, and I'm hoping someone can help me figure out whats going on.
The device says Archos | 70b Internet Tablet, but in recovery it claims to be Archos A70H2-V3. According to my research it SHOULD be a gen8 device, yet the SDE rom gives me an error 207 (wrong firmware version for this device).
When i google A70H2-V3 i find some mention of it in gen9 kernel source, but that firmware was also a no go. (which firmware btw is only 6.5 meg?)
the 70b is supposed to come with honeycomb, and despite the label on the front that says 70b, it sports Android 2.2
Does anyone have any experience with the A70H2-V3? Is the print on the front wrong and should the b be gone? Does anyone know what SDE i can use to get root and everything running?
Many thanks,
Amber Talamasca
I found the reason why it wasn't working.
the firmware is gen8v2, not compatible with either gen8 or gen9

I bought ViewPad 10s tablet a while ago and I never used it till now. Only this week I started to use it, but I realized that it has very old OS android 2.2. And it does not even have the google play. It has only 256 MB free space.
I would really really appreciate if one of you (android guru) help me to get the tablet to the latest OS. Otherwise its really unusable
thanks

You are able to install a custom rom like Vega; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397204 . There are newer os versions available, but I would not advice to go any further than ICS as the device is quite old and the specs just won´t run the newer os versions smoothly. ICS will already get your device compatible with alot more apps than froyo.
