Hello,
I purchased the ViewPad 10 dual boot quite some time ago, and have come to the point where it is pointless to have Windows 7 on a tablet with only 16 GB HDD.
As a result, I have been interested in installing Android on this tablet, replacing the existing Windows install.
I know how to install Android, as I have previously upgraded the 1.6 version to 2.2. However, given 2.2 is the latest official version released by ViewSonic, I am stuck.
Can anyone link me to the latest compatible version of Android that works on the ViewSonic? I have researched and read that there is an Android 3.2 release for a 'Vega2' that may work with the ViewSonic 10, though I am not 100% sure about this.
Also, will all Android apps work on the x86 architecture? If they don't work via Android Market, is there another way to get them working?
Hopefully someone can help me out here.
Can anyone help me out.....?
I also have a Viewpad 10Pi
I also have a Viewpad 10Pi and I am wondering if there is anyway to root it? Thanks Tom
Hello!
I wonder if it possible to root my archos 101 internet tablet to newest last android version?. Today i have 2.4.83 on my tablet but i dont know if it any newer version out? Can somebody help me
Thanks!
2.4.83 is the latest. There wont be any updates according to what Archos. Rely on developers more then manufacturers.
Hi guys,
I have recently been given a disgo 8100 which is a nice tablet but only runs android 2.3. I have seen there is a guide on how to root this tablet and load the play store which is great but, I can't seem to find anything about this device in the way of if it is a rebrand of another tablet, or if it's internals are compatible with any unofficial cyanogenmod ports.
I would love to get this thing up to ics or even jelly bean, but after searching google for a couple hours I cant seem to find the answers. So, if this tablet is not supported anywhere with custom Roms, how would one begin to port ics? I have 2 boards that work for this device so I can experiment.
Once I have root, where should I turn? There is an update for the device on the disgo website which can be downloaded, would that be a decent place to start porting?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK. I just inherited a Archos 101 tablet with 8GB
How can I tell what Gen it is, so I can update it
Hint: I found that serial # is on the bottom of the prop-up stand, and I KNOW it isn't a Gen 10, because the front camera has what looks like two boxes on it.
I've done this before on other tablets, but this is painful, finding out which "generation" it is.
sigh
I can tell you the following from my status screen
model archos 101 internet tablet
8mb ram
(from s/# label)
product key 1MP5-SM8Y-BUSY-Z5
Board version A101IT-V6
OMAP version ES1.2
Boot version 4.04.000001
firmware 2.4.90 (android 2.2.1)
Resolved: 101 tablet is a Gen8

Well I answered my own question:
after searching to try and find what firmware 2.4.90 was about, I discovered this thread..
HERE
which confirms it is a GEN8 system.
btw, can anyone tell me the difference between the 2.4.83 software and the 2.4.90 software, and where I could find another copy of the 2.4.90 sw to back up before I do any damage?
cheers...

2.4.83 might actually be newer than the 2.4.90, because starting with 2.4.80 firmware, Archos stopped with skipping version numbers. First, a firmware version could jump from 2.1.8 to 2.3.28, from 2.4.80 it could only go to 2.4.81 and further.

anyone know how I could figure out how I could tell which is newer?
here is a screen shot of the system
I do find it funny, that I haven't found the 2.4.90 software mentioned ANYWHERE else, including the archos website.

2.4.83 is newer for sure, but I don't know whether 2.4.90 is newer than the 2.4.82; so I just suggest you download the 2.4.83 from Archos website or one of the custom ROMs.
This is probably a long shot but I'll try....
We're rolling out some bedside entertainment tablets but they arrived from China (ELC) with Android 7.1.2. We need them running at least Android 11. We've reached out to the vendor that sold them and have been getting the run around for months. They tell us it's possible but they're waiting on ELC to provide the update. I've gone to ELC directly as well but nothing there either.
Since these are based on a RockChip 3399 chip (I have root and an unlocked bootloader) is it possible to upgrade these on my own with a stock image? I honestly have no idea if this can be done but figured I would try here for any input. We're really having a hard time with both companies...
Thanks for any help!
To clarify things: Stock ROM is the ROM that comes with device when getting released / shipped. You've to flash a suitable Custom ROM by means of a matching Custom Recovery in order to ugrade current device's Android.
Did you ever find a suitable custom ROM? I have no idea how to ‘match custom rom recovery’. Everywhere I look seems to talk about radio units. I have a tablet too and it has NO discernible device name or model that is recognisable .. tried to download a rom or two and they don’t finish pushing through ADB so I’m assuming I need the right ROM..
