Hi all. I decided to open this thread because I reported this issue in the past but didn't got attenction.
THE PROBLEM
CAF kernels (OFFICIAL CM NIGHTLY 12.1 TOO!!!) have serious bluetooth wakelocks when a paired device goes out of range
HOW TO REPRODUCE
1) install cpuspy from play store
2) enable bluetooth on your phone
3) pair a Bluetooth device (like the xiaomi mi band)
4) with the Bluetooth still on, move the BT device out of the phone range
5) wait a couple of minutes with the phone in standby (screen off)
6) open cpuspy and check that the phone didn't went in deep sleep
--------------------
a) if you turn off and then turn on the Bluetooth, the phone starts to deep sleep again, also if Bluetooth is on
b) place the phone near the BT device, wait for it to re-pair and then move it out of range, the phone doesn't deep sleep anymore
SCREENSHOOTS
CONCLUSIONS
I found some commits that claim to fix the bluetooth wakelocks issues...but i can't find a single caf kernel that doesn't have this problem.
With this bug my battery goes down REALLY quick (no problem with bluetooth off), I can't believe that after months of caf based roms very few people reported the problem
PLEASE REPORT IF YOU CAN CONFIRM THIS BUG...THANKS!
Sorry for the up... But no one can try to reproduce this issue?

Last I heard it's very easy to reproduce, I guess no one bothered to.

I use my phone's gps for biking everyday. In ICS passion if the phone goes into deep sleep the GPS stops working until reboot. If I'm not biking my phone is generally plugged in and I have a second battery so is there a simple way to just keep the phone from going into deep sleep so I don't have to reboot when I'm ready to use the GPS?
you can use setcpu and configure screen off profile in it.
If Im not mistaken so long as the phone is plugged in it wont go into deep sleep. I may be wrong though.
I tried setting a profile for screen off to 200Mhz but it still deep sleeps.
As far as leaving it plugged in... I believe I saw it deep sleep still but I'll need to double check that as I'm not sure.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
You could try Wake Lock PowerManager:
https://market.android.com/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl
Never used it so I don't know how well it works and I'm not sure it works on ICS but it might be worth a try.
No go.
The phone does deep sleep when plugged in and the Wake Lock app didn't help. :/
I have read through tons of pages in the DEV section on this ROM. There is an updated kernel for that ROM that alot of peolple said fixed their GPS issue. Start on the last page and work backwards and you should find the link.

that kernel (3.1.9) and going into settings>location services>uncheck all location services (using 3g, wifi, etc to determine location) as those will break your gps forcing you to have to reboot to reset the gps.
method that worked for me to make sure of it, is have gps off, uncheck the google location services, reboot phone, turn on gps, profit.
use your gps and get a reading, allow your phone to hit deep sleep, then try your gps again and you should have no problem.

You can also try NStools app under CPU tab set min frequency to 200 and set governor to performance. Then go to settings tab and check set on boot.
Greetings,
I had been using my Xperia Neo V with Cyanogenmod 10 (10-20130519-NIGHTLY-haida) for the last 2 months. It was all ponies and rainbows for me for the first 6-7 weeks.
Issue:
Now I'm facing with a random and ridiculous overnight battery drain issue since a week ago. Ridiculousness here is being referred to the amount of the drain (almost 60% overnight) and to the fact that there's no particular change of use of the phone by me,comparing with the days before. As you can see in the screenshots, the main actor here is "Operating System". I don't really know what this drain is related to, so I was not able to do comparisons of use.
Facts:
-Mobile Data was active but only at 2G
-Location services were off
-Bluetooth and all other possible signals were off
-No active apps, all were hibernated with Greenify
What might be the reason of this problem and what would you advice me to try?
Thanks in advance.
what kernel are you using? overclocked?
maybe you can try re-flash the rom
60% overnight is way high battery drain
You should try to see a pattern. Does it happen after specific usage "ritual" or just purely random?
It may be kernel bug/core system bug. Try dumping dmesg and logcat when it happen next.
I would start by trying to flash other kernel.
Install BetterBatteryStats (ther's an SDA thread); It will give you better info of what is draining your battery. In addition to that, you can post your logs in the thread (BBS thread) and they will provide better help.
Good luck
Edit: here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Install wakelock detector app uninstall those... Try greenify too
Firstly we have to know what kernel are you using...
2.6.32.9 or 3.x.x version?
Hi there all, thank you for replies, and here are some extra info;
Fresh facts:
- Kernel: 2.6.32.9-FXP [email protected] #1
- Not overclocked
New observations:
So far I don't see any pattern as to what could possibly be the reason for this issue.
The last time I faced with this, the phone was fully charged and on 2G mode I left it on my desk (my wi-fi router was located next to it, keep it in mind so that it might be a clue coinciding with the BetterBattery logs I will reveal next) and after 3 hours, when I went to check if there were any calls, nearly 30% was drained. Comparing with the initial drain issue (which is a 60'ish% drain overnight) I can say it's the same issue within a proportionate period.
Well takin' a quick look at the BetterBatteryStatus report, drain was mainly caused by some wake thingy called "rx_wake". I don't really know much about all these wake calls in Android system but I googled it and reached to a brief conclusion that it's somehow related with Wi-fi connection. So I'm suspicious that maybe my Android system is perpetually sending wake calls related to a Wi-fi signal even when the Wi-fi mode is off on my phone (only relation I could make here is that I left the phone next to my wi-fi router)
I attach the screenshot and BetterBatteryStatus logs to this post, thanks in advance for your further comments.
Further comments, anyone?
Post the logs in BBS thread. There people has more knowledge and they can help you.
Issue Solved on Galaxy S - Will fit all I assume
Hi
I face the same issue from the day I install the ROM (CM 10.1.2)
I browse the Internet and found the issue
The issue is Wi-Fi and mobile network location
When it is on in this version it turn on the Wi-Fi not only on GPS request and No GPS status
You need to shout it down and issue solved
To change this setting:
System Settings -> Location access and disable the "Wi-Fi mobile network location"

Hey guys,
I have a "little" problem with my S2. Whenever I leave wifi on and let the screen go off, my phone will get into SoD (sleep of death) and I can't wake it up. This will happen sooner or later.
I have this problem with every ROM I can think of. It's been a long time since I used a stock ROM, so I don't know if this only happens on Custom-ROMs.
Finding out that wifi (or my data connection) was causing those problems was a long process with a lot of frustration and trial and error (catlog won't work or doesn't show anything regarding the problem).
I tried to get rid of this problem with the APP "PNF - Push Notification Fixer" by reducing the heartbeat intervall of the wifi and mobile to 5 and 6 minutes (15 and 28 before) this seemed to reduce the frequency of the SoDs, but they are still happening.
I can get rid of the problem almost all the times with deactivating wifi when I let the screen go off or lock the phone myself. I get the same result when I turn off "Wifi optimization" in advanced wifi setting, but this is draining my battery pretty fast.
So basically I can use my wifi only when the phone is on the charger (no deep sleep at all) or if I turn it off when I lock the phone (something like 30 seconds can sometimes be enough to get the phone into SoD).
With data on and the screen locked I only experienced one SoD and this seemed to happen when I lost my signal at all.
So my conclusion is, that whenever I lose my data connection (might it be wifi or mobile) my phone does seem to get stuck in deep sleep at that moment or the moment it tries to reestablish the connection (the problem most propably got less after using PNF, because my router would kick my phones connection after a few minutes (10 would be my guess) of inactivity and this prevented a long enough inactivity. But they still happen (SoDs)). When I turn both wifi and mobile off and let it go into deep sleep this is no problem and no SoDs happen.
The SoDs were less but also happened when I were on CM11 M11 official, but got really frequent when I switched to Markox89's version of CM.
This is no rant or anything, I just want to get to the core of this problem and wanted to see/ask if there is something different in the Wifi module or wifi settings in this build and what could cause this very annoying problem.
Maybe someone else has this problem, too. Maybe my hardware is just faulty and I have to live with this :/
If it wasn't for this problem this ROM would run pretty smooth and flawless.
Does anybody else have the same problem or somehow knows how to get rid of it? This would get a lot of frustration out of my everday life :victory:
My setup right now:
- Markox89's CM11 Mod (22.11) (4.4.4)
- Lanchon's TRIM Kernel for CM 22.11 (same problem before using TRIM)
- Lanchon's Music bug fix (same problem before using Music bug fix)
- Modem: XXMS4
EDIT:
- XPosed with Xprivacy
- common apps like Threema, Telegram, whatsapp...
Tl;dr: my phone gets stuck in deep-sleep (SoD) if I leave wifi on when my screen turns off. no problem with mobile on or both data connections off. Halp?
@xhoster try to clean flash a rom and try it without all those apps you are using and then you can see or its app related or rom related. If it's rom related then I think some people already posted before there.
Also maybe try a custom kernel.
Try these things, I can't help you further then this atm.
Also mybe logcat the issue so you can read where it goes wrong.
FINAL EDIT: The problem seems to be the wifi driver all along!
Flashed the Apolo Kernel and this solved my SOD problem only had two since then and those seemed to be APP related!
Happy right now
It's seems to be the xposed framework! Tried it with a fresh installation after RomNuke and the phone was sleeping for 45 minutes and nothing happened, installed xposed and 10 minutes later I got a SoD. Tried it with the 2.7 beta 1 and the 2.6.1 stable version. Both gave me a SoD when I left wifi on...
Is this a known problem or has anybody ever had this problem?
When I tried it, I didn't even installed any modules, just the framework.
EDIT: I am going to test a bit more to see if it really is xposed or just the phone hanging whenever a connection is lost.
Hi guys,
What bugs do you have with your CM13 TeamSpain ROM?
I used it one day and for now I have these issues:
- minimum volume is too high when I talk with the other person on external speakers. Practicaly you can't adjust the volume when you talk on external speakers.
- Wi-Fi problems when you turn it on and off. My phone even rebooted one time!
- when I put the phone in airplane mode and then, when I put the airplane mode off, the phone doesn't recognize the SIM 1.
- I heared that there are some issues with notification led but I must verify this last bug.
If you have some other issues, feel free to share them here. Maybe some author of the cm13 will see this post and try to fix them.
I prefer this rom rather then the stock one but there are some things that still must fix.
Hi,
I have :
- some random battery drain. 2 times per month dunno why... System android and platform android
- Wifi is always on as if i turn it off (look at battery display)
- Random reboot but since september it's happened to me 5 times
- happened to me 1 time, screen was crazy => always showing notifications display. I've reboot it then everythings turn normal
- I've use all 4g band (800, 1800, 2600) but network seems weak compare to another phone (same location)
I don't have the same problem as you (i'm using bluetooth and wifi, gps)
All i remember
Today i've a drain of battery in the night
1h to 10h i lost 60%
The phone has no wifi, no bluetooth and no data
Maybe it's the notification led ?
Hi guys, this is not the thread where you'll find fancy kernel tweaks to improve battery. I'll share a few little things I personally follow that considerably improved battery life for me. You don't even need root
If you use any other battery saving placebo like greenify or wakelock blocker, then you're on your own. I don't recommend these
Follow each of these steps -
1. Turn OFF pocket detection, screensaver and ambient display.
(AD is upto your preference, doesn't drain battery much)
2. Set location to device only mode.
(DE mode uses GPS satellites and gives enough accuracy, high accuracy mode keeps bluetooth and wifi scanning on, draining battery)
3. Turn location permission off for google app.
(drains alot of battery)
If possible disable location for every app except maps and google play services.
(tracks your device when it's lost)
4. Go to location settings, scanning and check whether bluetooth and wifi scanning are off, if not, turn them off.
5. Go to battery, performance and turn off automatic optimization.
6. Most important step, reboot your phone after doing all this.
That's it guys, try this and report Suggestions are welcome
Good Tips.
Very nice

I have done all these except 6 point (once per day). Plus I have installed greenify. But still battery drain in most of the ROMs. Even if I won't use my phone, the battery is draining fast. I have turned location off (always)

Just try that bud
actually the thing is that kernel is not proper for any ROMs for which there is a battery drain...
changing kernels will be battery saving because of CPU tweaks running always in the background even if the device's screen is off...
use greenify in magisk for more if you dont want to tweak with your kernel...
do this and tell if your battery drain is solved... also follow these steps above.. they are mandatory as well...
it doesnot work well for resurrection remix ROMs... i have tried... maybe fixed by change in kernel tweaks...
For some weird reason my device doesnt go deep sleep anymore. The battery graph use to to be flat but now therea a slight steep when i am asleep. I still do my usual habit of turn of wifi, turn off location, turn of sync, turn off scanning for bluetooth and wifi, turn off locatiom history. I am on stuart's los 14.1. this started to happen two days ago. You know the best app to troubleshoot?screen and lineageos system and android is on top of battery stats when checking after waking up overnight.i have no addon or other tweaks. Not even greenify because battery graph overnight is flat before.

Where I can see you're doing wrong is turning things on and off. The steps mentioned in thread do not break a single thing. Keep location as device only mode forever (no on off required).
Just follow those steps for atleast one cycle and report

Ill try. Ive been doing this for a long time since teammex releases builds. And since the first build of stuart got no problem up to the second build.by the way i am.only turning on location once in awhile if i need navigation. Only wifi and data connection is frequently turned off and on. The rest is off 90% of the time

Battery drain issue
Any one having a battery drain problem ........Go to magisk( if not installed plz find the tread and do it)....Then download Enable Doze ..... Optimize Google play services and Google app and see if it is fixed......Worked for me
Very nice practical advice. However, greenify is not a fancy placebo. Together with Leandroid, and only following no.1 and 4 of your guide, battery almost doesnt drain at all on my snapdragon Xiaomi when idle. For my MTk xiaomis, I have to flash the drain fix in addition to get the same results as the snapdragon variants.
Anyway, good advise.
