Hi I got my Oneplus 2 today, it was purchased from China and imported to India and hence had the color OS, hand to install Oxygen OS as Color OS does not have google on it.
The phone feels heavy, looks great and is quite comfortable to hold
Got my hands of Oxygen OS and just finished installing, one remark on the same unlike other phones where you need to install a custom recovery to file the zip, in Oxygen I could just boot into recovery and install the zip file which is a great thing for the novice users as they will not be required to install custom recovery.
So i installed the OS without any issue took 5 minutes booted up quickly signed up into google and the phone was set up
Observation the phone heated while installing the backup apps which was not heavy use as why installing apps and syncing gmail will send more updates on the heating issue as i start using the phone.
I configured the fingerprint scanner though it takes some time to scan the fingerprint however it unlocks pretty quicky though there is an issue reported by one of the earlier reviewers that it stops working after sometime will update on that as I use the phone
Camera has not been tested so will take some night pictures today and upload them.

My impressions after 2 days: nice feel in the hand, better than my s6. Screen looks washed out coming from Samsung amoled. Fingerprint reader is useless. Apart from the lack of a click which makes the button feel weird, it only works half the time and is always slow. The hardware buttons could be more sensitive. Using the Fingerprint reader as a home key is not great, doesn't always register a touch. On screen works fine. UI feels like stock Android. Missing scheduled do not disturb and not much customisation (no battery icon options etc). Bluetooth and wifi are working without any problems. Wouldn't play an HD movie on Google play, seemed to be lagging but later worked fine. Apart from that, seems snappy. No overheating. Withe general usage, battery life seems very good. Very good. Whilst on paper it falls short in every important specification when compared with the s6 (and the absence of wireless charging is a big thing for me, as is NFC) I must say that I love the phone. Reminds me of my HTC HD2! I am a person who buys the latest flagship every 3 months. I have to confess, I succumbed to the hype with this phone and don't regret it! I got the A2001 version from Oppomart. LTE works fine on Telstra in Sydney.
Edit : I should add that the audio through headphones is very good too. And after using for a few days now, battery life is still impressive.

Actually, you can change the battery icon to circle, text or no icon at all.

FYI the finger print reader and capacitive buttons are much more responsive in the latest version of hydrogen os. This adds up as all the reviews I have seen are using newer oxygen os firmware are also reporting minimal issues with the finer print reader. We just have to wait for someone to post the latest firmware.

Ugh. Have the money set aside to buy this phone but can't justify the extra cost if it doesn't work on ATT LTE.
Talk about a tease.

Whose teasing? If you look up the 1+2's specs and AT&T's LTE network frequencies, you'll have a clear answer.

It's 'who's teasing'.
It was a joke. It would be like having the money to buy a hooker and hearing that she has herpes.

I have been using it for the four days now and there are no issues with fingerprint reader the issue is how you place the finger on it once you get that right you will not have an issue
Also a cool feature just scan you finger and the phone will automatically come out of standby mode and unlock no need to press power buttom or double tap

Hey guys. Question here.
In this review from (video in Russian language) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvwFkLTG-Cw
they've mentioned that on high volume the speaker is suffering awful croaking, but they are not sure if they got defective device or is at a software issue for example. Can anyone comment how is the speaker of the phone in terms of loundenss and quality? (the one (or two) in the bottom from which the sound of ringtone comes out.
Thanks in advance

I have had the phone for a few weeks, since the 4th of August. I can tell you that there definitely is an issue. Reviewers have also pointed towards this fact. In some instance the finger print reader refuses to unlock the phone. Using a pin or pattern unlocks the phone. Unlocking after that works again. Some reviewers have also commented that the fingerprint reader stops working till you reboot. I have used the latest version of HydrogenOS, and can confirm that the fingerprint reader is more reliable and the initial configuration asks you to scan the edge of you finger in addition to the normal scans.

No problems for me. I have watched a few youtube videos on it. Ringtones and alerts are loud and clear. Sound only comes out the right speaker holes. One thing that is annoying is the equaliser software. If you turn it off the sound from the speaker is completely flat and very quiet. If you turn it on the sound is too loud at low volumes, but quality is much improved. You can play with the equaliser settings to improve this and strike a balance, but I would imagine the defaults will be fixed in future OTA updates.

I have not used Hydrogen OS uninstalled it as soon as I got my phone however i can confirm there is no such issue in Oxygen OS yes i did scan my finger print in Hydrogen OS when I got it and it has a very different UI to that of Oxygen I guess Oxygen uses Google API and UI's however Hydrogen has a custom built UI dont know what is in the backend
And in that i think lies the issue

My initial impressions of the Oneplus 2
It's Here!
Finally, I have it. The Oneplus 2 was delivered to me on Friday (didn't actually got my hands on it until Sunday).
Bought the device officially from Oneplus on wednesday and they shipped it on Thursday so that was fast! And thanks to DHL of course for the speedy delivery.
I have now used the device for a day and here are my few impressions of it. I will do a larger review later on.
What's in the box
The box is very nice (picture at the end). In the box you find:
The phone (it has a screenprotector installed at the factory)
Power Brick
USB-C cable (the power brick/USB end is also reversible)
Basic use guide etc
So again no headphones. Many have questioned why, but you have to remember the price point of the device and providing headphones would increase the price and knowing Onelus, they don't want to provide some ****ty "samsung like" headphones just because headphones
Build quality and feel
The device feels superb on hand when first lifted from the box. The phone feels really sturdy thanks to the metal edges (like in Galaxy S6 and other premium phones). The device is heavier than it's predecessor.
Build quality is not a problem on this phone. The new StyleSwap covers are now easy to take off and install (pretty much the same as for example on Note series backplates) and there is a hole in the bottom for easy uninstall. I bought the Kevlar and Black Apricot StyleSwaps with the phone and the hard part is to decide which one to use. I am starting to like the Black Apricot one better.
Software
So no more Cyanogen but is this a bad thing? Hard to say really at the moment, also my opinion might be little biased as I pretty much hate anything coming from CM.
So as said the phone comes with Oneplus inhouse ROM called OxygenOS which has now a matured to 2.0 stage.
As I have had the phone just a under 24hours I won't be saying much of the OxygenOS yet, but I have to say that at this stage I would expect more. The ROM is pretty basic vanilla Android with few tweaks like Dual Sim support (more on this little later) and a Dark UI mode etc.
Coming from a custom rom / CyanogenOS world this a step backwards if you like customization features. Oneplus has said that there will be an OTA update soon to bringing more stuff and fixes, so we will see.
Haven't found any big bugs yet but the camera app is also pretty basic and doesn't have lot of options. But I haven't used the camera much so I won't judge it yet
Snapdragon 810 - hot or not
I tested the "boiling/overheating" with a little gaming session (nothing fancy or really heavy) with few small games (i don't usually play games on my phone).
The phone heats from the topside but for me it's nothing to get worried about. I have seen samekind of heating with the S6 and other phones. But I will need to test longer and heavier games.
I haven't run any benchmarks and don't think I even will as they don't show the "real world usage".
Unique features
Oneplus 2 comes with few unique features that are not very common in flagship phones. I will go through few of them here.
Dual sim
Oneplus 2 supports Dual Sim configuration which is pretty big thing nowadays. Ok, it's a feature that many propably won't need all the time but it actually is a great feature. I haven't had a dual sim phone before so I was pretty eager to see if it would have any value to me.
The phone uses Dual Sim Dual Standby mode (DSDS) and you can configure which sim is used for different tasks (mobile data, texts and phone calls). Text and phone call options can be configured so that the phone asks which sim will be used when you make a call or send a text.
I have configured that texts and calls are from the SIM1 (my main sim) and mobile data comes from SIM2 as my main sim has a sloooow mobile data so i will use my unlimeted 4G data sim for the mobile data.
As I mentioned the dual standby mode that the phone uses means that if my SIM2 is using mobile data and I get a call to the SIM1 number the mobile data connection will be disconnected until i disconnect the call / reject it. Both sims can receive call but when there is a call coming to either on the other one will be "dead". So if you are on phone call thrue your SIM1 and someone tries to call you to SIM2 number he will get a message that the number can't be reached / call will be transferred to voicemail.
I think I am going to enjoy this feature as it gives me more room and will be good when travelling.
Fingerprint reader
Yes, Oneplus 2 has a fingerprint reader. Oneplus #hyped the feature a lot and even said that it will be better and faster than the one on the iPhone.
Well, I have to be honest here. It's not. The reader is pretty good reading the fingerprint but it isn't as good or fast than the counterpart. Few times the phone hasn't recognized my fingers at all and sometimes the home button (reader is integrated to the capacitive button) just doesn't react to the finger at all.
There is also a setting that allows you top wake the screen and unlock it by just putting your finger to the scanner (like in few Huawei phones etc). This feature also works pretty well but sometimes the phone doesn't wakeup when you put your finger on the scanner.
There should be a OTA coming what should fix these things so let's hope it comes soon.
Conclusion
So the initial impression? Brilliant device with few quirks and pretty basic software. The software part is the part which needs to come better and it should come soon. For me...well let's just say that I will wait for the custom rom developers to bring their magic on this phone.
Oh, almost forgot. THERE IS NO NFC on this phone and there never will be. I don't actually need it and when NFC is actually really really useful here (hint: android pay) we will have the Oneplus 3 or even 4 already.
All in all, at the moment I am really impressed by the phone and hardware, but I want to see lot of improvement on the software side.
Few pictures attached too

Alright, i have my Titan X310E, first come from England right here on U.S . Many people here still questioning about it , so i decided to be the tester for any questions that you guys may have with Titan.
Monday (10.17)
I was in terrible sick , but the Titan came from USPS Express made me really pleased. The box look like other HTCs at Europe... Nothing much could be tell from outside.

I opened the box and pull out this beautiful device, once again, i have the happy feeling when i first have my HD7.
My First Impression? This thing is just bigger than my Schubert and that is all i care. Bigger screen, bigger phone, still thin, sexy and yes, metal cover.
I went through the first set up for the phone, it is kinda lame when i have to set the Time Zone manually, while my HD7 can set it automatically everytime i install a new ROM or reset my phone. Maybe it can be done only if i am in England, where you have only one time zone...
Okay, that was quick, and yes, the screen, is nice. I can even see it way better than my HD7, even the seller has already put a crappy screen protector from the ipad over it (he cut the screen protector to be fit). Low DPI? I think you have an eagle eyes to see those stuffs. And yes, this thing has the front-facing Camera, 1.3mp, equal to my old Nokia 5310. But you have nothing to use it except you gonna post pictures of yourself in the bathroom on Facebook tomorrow with terrible quality.
We do have a small button on the bottom of the phone to open the back case, and yes it is a brilliant idea , just 2 piece of metal for the whole phone. I am impressed.
How is it feel in your hand? I am a "big-phone" user, i had HD2 before, i had HD7 Before, i played with Dell Streak for a little bit, so this baby right here isn't a big problem with me. But it could be problem with people who have small hand ( i considered myself to have a medium-size hand). No , you are not gonna buy this for your girlfriend.
The Phone is thin, and it is sexy. HTC always does a good job in making a sexy look for their phone. It definitely feel comfortable in your hand, i don't doubt that. The Micro-USB port is on the left side of the phone, which is the sign of "up-coming" Dock for Titan from HTC. The Button has more "feeling" than the HD7, it is plastic, but has decent feel when you press it.
This phone isn't released in States yet, so mine right here is the UK version, which is considered as World Phone, the frequency they use is different with T-Mobile USA , so you are not gonna have 3G for this on T-Mobile. I will swap to AT&T in the few days and tell you guys more about it.
HSPA/WCDMA 850/900/2100Mhz (AT&T should be able to Provide this thing 3G or i will sell it and get an AT&T version later)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900Mhz)
Well, i was impressed by this bought except the non-3g frequency for T-Mobile. I am still using it today , so you guys will have the post of my experience tonight.
Thank you for your nice review
What about the screen quality ? (not the dpi but the glass quality ?)

Tuesday (10.18)
Alright, i was sick yesterday so i can't really go over the OS of the Titan. We both know Titan use Mango 7.10.7720, which is RTM, quite familar with XDA People in this Windows Phone Subforum. The Titan also come with Second generation Snapdragon Qualcomm 1.5ghz CPU, a flash internal memory (16GB) from Samsung, not a high-speed microsd card anymore. I would say there is a significant jump for Titan in performance.
I tried out Fruit Ninja on Titan. And i must say, the performance is way different from HD7. When you hit the Frenzy banana and start to make 7,8,9 Combos , it is just all smooth, when you can see notice-able lag on HD7.
Or you can also compare the heavy game monopoly, where the frame rate can be seen much higher in Titan, compare to HD7.
Titan Rank #2 in Performance Chart (Following WP Bench Chart). But i will say to you guys one thing, i have seen lag on Titan. Review on several website can say it doesn't have lag at all, which is wrong, you can see the choppy performance sometime when using, but it could be the first built of Titan OS, which is not fully optimized for Titan yet, we will wait and see, i have several fun stuffs for you to know about the mango on titan later in this post.
The Back Cover may be hard to remove for new people. But all you need to do is press the button on the bottom of phone and slide the phone out.
The Back cover is claimed to be 100% Aluminum, and of course, it light. Not too heavy compare to the HD7.
Titan is definitely Longer than the HD7, but in fact, it is thinner than HD7, you can see it when trying to compare the 2 line by line, or just your feeling when holding 2 devices in the hands.
And one thing, you will not get the Kickstand on Titan, which is useful when watching video.
Camera, which is nice, i don't have much time to test it, but it is good in my opinion, the picture come out in good quality. 8MP seem to be good, and i am not a person who concen much about the quality of the picture.
Here is an example of the Titan's picture
The sound quality of Titan is very nice. The volume is also good, i rate it as 8.5/10 for loudness, you can turn the volume up to 10-14/30 and you have the loudness of HD7 on 30/30
Video Playback Quality on Titan is also great, from 720p Call of Duty Trailer to Full HD 1080p Mike Posner Music Video, titan handle it all. With a good headphone, you might want to check out thr SRS Lab 5.1 Surround when you play Video on Titan.
The 4.7 inch Screen is really great regarding the limit in Resolution. it also make the keyboard bigger and easier to type. Here is the picture compare the screen of Titan and HD7, also the size of the keyboard.
By the end of the day, i found out something sound stupid to me and maybe for American user also. This device is from UK, so, i think Microsoft put a different version of Microsoft Tellme in it, or this phone OS version/firmware is just retarded enough to not recognize my voice of command.
Sorry, because i am not American, my English is not that perfect, but when my old T-Mobile USA HD7 can understand my foreigner voice and do exactly what i want, there isn't a point that the Titan can't.
Here is the video i recorded:
http://youtu.be/ZdKlkckr73M
(maybe you will have a good laugh because of my english, lol)
When i tried to tell Titan to open an application (not a built-in Apps) like HTC Hub, it is nearly impossible for the phone to recognize it, and it just keep saying that it didn't catch that or i don't have the application installed on it. and it is more stupid, when i speak to both HD7 and Titan, the HD7 does recognize, but not the Titan. I am not sure this is Software-Related issue or Hardware-Related Issue, or my English is just retarded somehow. LOL.
But when i tried to talk to the phone to text some one or open basic apps, it does its job really good.I am not sure what is the problem here but i will need several other US Customer who have the UK version to confirm this with me. the version of UK also have a different respond sound with US version.
And yes, i even found out, that there is no Turn-By-Turn Voice Navigation for me here, the Unites States of America, where my HD7 can talk whole day and take me go around St.Pete. I tried to tap the screen several times and nothing happen. I also mailed HTC Technical Support and post on Windows Phone forum about this issue.
The Phone comes with the standard HTC headphone , which is hated by people
That is end for my Tuesday Experience, tomorrow, there will be test on Battery Useagle and jean, pocket friendly...

Very good news, I impatiently wait the mine
Thanks for providing this review, it is sounding like a really good device so far.
I am really eager to get hold of one of these
really nice! Has the Titan more option and functions in the photo settings menu?
Okay, wednesday.
I went out with 70% of battery and returned with 30%, from 7AM to 3PM, light use, Wifi On, Games for 30 mins, 45 mins on IE, medium light, using XDA apps for about 20 mins and whole bunch of other stuffs.
I think this battery really impressed me. With my HD7 Full charge, i can easily get lower than 20% with light use in day. So yes, Battery performance is good. You can get it full charge by the morning and have it through day 2 night (light use).
Pocket: I wear jeans almost everyday, so, the HD7 fit my pocket nicely, also the Titan. I feel like almost no different between stucking HD7 or Titan in my pocket. They are both hard to pull out when you sit, especially in the car with the seat belt on. Which is common issue of big phone.
Also visit AT&T Store today to ask about 3G Frequency, and they seem to be very strange with the Titan, they don't even know the plan of AT&T on Titan. They seem to know nothing about the Frequency compatibility of the phone. They just give me the answer that my Titan will not get 3G on AT&T, while this phone support 850mhz on HSPA, which is the standard of AT&T 3G Frequency at United States. I am not really happy with the low-tech and useless advise from the "technican" at AT&T store. I will take an AT&T Simcard from Somebody tomorrow and take a test if it can receive 3G Signal.
I returned home and decide to try the Voice Command to open stuffs on HD7 and Titan again, and this time, i had a score of 8-1 to HD7, i tried my best in English pronunciation, but only HD7 did recognize my voice, not the Titan.
HTC Support is trying to tell me to softreset the Phone, and Reset back to Factory Setting, which i have done several times already. Maybe my voice is retarded so the phone can't recognize it. I will sell it to XDA-Member here or Ebay after the review, who ever come first. So if you are interested, just PM me.
I have the new video are being uploaded now.
Tomorrow will be the request of you guys. And i decide not to use it full week, so you guys who will buy it will have a fresh device.

Did you change the region?
Did you change the region. I believe the speech recognition engine that is being used processes the language differently based on region. The british accent probably requires different voice patterns to process. I noticed in your youtube video that the Titans speech replies have a british accent. So I assume the speech recognition is also using british speech patterns.
I googled this question and found something similiar that seems to match my same thoughts on the issue. Unfortunately, I don't think it solved the problem.

That is my main concern. I have already switched everything i could find in setting to United States. I don't know if American English and British English are way different in pronunciation. Or my voice is just retarded. LOL.
HTC Titan on Amazon
I just bought an unlocked HTC Titan from Amazon today (from 3rd party company Expansys).
http://www.expansys-usa.com/htc-titan-windows-phone-7-5-smartphone-unlocked-black-221944/
I'm assuming that it's compatible with AT&Ts 3G network, but after reading your post today, I'm a little worried. The specs show that it supports the same 3G bands as AT&T, so I'm hopeful that you are able to get the 3G bands working tomorrow when you try the AT&T sim card.
Please update us tomorrow. I'm very interested to find out. Thanks for your great week long review!

according to 2 "high-level" guy at XDA (drkfngthdragnlrd and prjkthack, our Titan will be able to get 3G on AT&T, since the phone does support HSPA/WCDMA 850mhz Frequency, which is match with AT&T Standard 3G Frequency.

http://www.intomobile.com/2009/02/24/att-3g-network-going-850mhz-nationwide-by-2010/
I strongly believe that the Titan will get the 3G on AT&T. I will keep you guys posted about my experience.
I also found out the phone you buy on Amazon , which cost $700 if i am not wrong. But oh well, good luck if you have the UK version , which you can talk English to, have no idea if you have the German version or something like that, LOL.
It propably won't be long before there will be a USA version of an XDA ROM that you can flash. So maybe soon, your phone will recognize you again.

Well, Microsoft tellme is a nice feature to have, i don't really use it like really often. , because i know i am foreigner, and my English skill is not good, so, sometime, you mean to talk in the good way, but the phone understand it in bad way...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RiU8GPlsZqE
Look at that video, you probably laugh you ass off , but that is common issue of foreigner like me, but i am so happy that my english skill is not that extremely terrible like the guy in the video.
But it is useful to hear and reply the messege without taking the phone out.
and yes, i also hope XDA can have a custom rom, or someway to install the US ROM version, and get update through Zune for it. The Goldcard Technique is no longer useable on Titan when it has no MicroSD card.

No my friend, the 1600mah Battery give you a full day of hard playing with Titan, which is far better than HD7's 1230mah one.

my HD7 also gives me a full day with 20% left by night
Light moderate usage
We need more details ..because 1600 mah sounds good
but that large screen size/type may offset any gains in battery life
TItan is using SLCD, of TFT LCD?
SLCD and it seems like a much better SLCD than that found on Sensation.

The screen is fabulous and is a very high quality SLCD panel.
For me, the battery life is close to double my HD7. Partly because its a new battery, but it is fantastic. This is my first smartphone (and I have had a few) that gets close to lasting a second day let alone gets into a second day!

Anyone else disappointed in their Gear S?

I got mine yesterday and so far I don't know what this watch was made to do. I love the curved design and the large screen, but why add a SIM card and make it not a stand alone device? Personally I would rather have a thinner watch.
Controlling this device is a head ache to me, the scrolling is sometimes glitchy, the keyboard is oddly shaped and apps don't load information like it should. I owned the first Gear watch and thought it was a cool first step in the right direction of smart watches but some how I feel the first Gear worked better.
I am taking mine back and waiting for a thinner one to come out that functions smoother.

Kind of, one biggy is not being able to add tasks or reminders. I don't know why but that buggs the crap out of me. I was able to with the first and 2nd gen gear watches. It was said this watch would have more support and more apps but from the looks of it the parts of the SDK for this watch seem to be broken thus slowing down app development.
Where are the thousand apps that was said to be avail at launch? I only see maybe 300 apps? (I have a note 4 that should show all of them you would think)
The watch is cool, don't get me wrong. I like it and I like the ability to make calls and receive calls and notifications when I am away from my phone... Im just dumbfounded that you can do something as simple as add a reminder or a task lol. S voice is hit or miss too. S voice on the Gear 2 was on point! (I kinda miss my gear 2)
I think it needs many sw updates and apps to reach its full potential.

Yeah the big question is if there is development. I already feel that gear 2 was abandoned and the gear s isn't far behind
I am thinking the smartwatch development cycle is so short, that a given watch is abandoned before it's peak is reached.

It is still a standalone device so I'm not sure how you mean it isn't.
As for the glitches it could either be hardware issues or software, but thinness doesn't seem to be anything that could help.
We are early adopters and with that comes risk but I haven't had problems that would disappoint me to the point of wanting to return it.
It is an advancement for me. But hurry up and take it back if it irritates ya. It isn't for everyone.
if anything I think this watch has exceeded my expectations. I expected to hate the size, hate the batter, hate the useability. I have been please on every aspect.
Sure we need more apps. Some of us are working on that.
If you were expecting custom ROMs and someone porting android then this is not for you. That will likely never really be the case.

Oh God no, the farther away from Android I can go the better. I only want root so I can dig around in it to learn.
Where are sound files kept, what is the file structure. Pull and push for light modding.
This watch reminds me of the N900. Sooooo much potential ...
My issues with this watch ates the swype key doesn't work all the time. It completely doesn't choose the word I was spelling. The dang call forwarding almost never works. I constantly get error messages that it can't connect to my phone remotely, my phone will be sitting in a good signal area. And a few times i had to restart the gear because all of a sudden it couldn't read the Sim card. These little issues make me regret buying it.

I actually am loving it. Screen is great, connection or remote connection works well, and I love the scrolling on it, as it seems smooth and more fun. I had Gear 1 and 2, and find this far superior so far. Battery very good, even with Always on mode going I get a full day. Bluetooth works well with my headset at the gym, and emails seem to work better, as I can read full Exchange emails, as long as I clear out the notification after each one. News updates are really cool looking too.
I'm not terribly disappointed - I think the device itself is a feat in design however, I do have gripes with the software capabilities and not being able to respond to things like notifications directly from the device.
I think when more apps/updates are developed for the device, the experience/usability will drastically improve.

I just my Gear S yesterday and I'm impressed with the design just like I am with the Note 4. I bought the Notifications app to be able to reply. I'm still trying to figure that out. The Gear S looks huge but surprisingly feels like a normal watch to me. I can see it wouldn't feel right if you have tiny wrists though. I'm going to test the watch out for 14 days and see how much I'll use it.
I just feel Samsung didn't put much effort in this device as they have in their phones.
I personally hate that it has its own sim card and it seems that it without a sim slot and the chipset for 3g and wifi it could be a thinner device and still do what most people need it to. I just find it silly to have WiFi and 3g when you can't download it's own apps and not to mention the price difference.
I really thought it would have better apps first and 3rd party since Samsung isn't new to the watch market.
I do like the way the watch looks aside from it being thicker than I think it should be. I own a Note 4 and Note 3 and I think the Note 4 looks better but the Note 3 feels better in hand. Also I fail to understand why the Note 4s screen sticks out further than its bezels unlike the Note 3 where the bezels are out to protect the screen.
I am totally in love with mine. I love that it has its own SIM card slot, which is also why I bought it. For active people, it's a great device, because they can leave their cell phones at home (they are just too darn big these days).
I wish it had a few of the apps I use on my watch, and in general many more apps, and that Samsung would be straight-forward about which tablets work with it and which don't.
Also, I never saw the point of a wrist worn second display to your phone, but now that I have the Gear S, I can even see the appeal of the other (SIM-less) smart watches.
What I hate, though, is that Samsung sells it carrier-locked in the US. The sheer amount of work I have done so far in trying to get an unlocked version is insane, and I am still not done.

May I ask, which carrier version of the watch do you have, and what kind of SIM is in it?
I'd like to know because I am currently using the T-mo version with a T-mo card and have not had any such problems, however, I also have an unopened ATT version that I am waiting to get unlocked (I'll return the tmo one).

I have to say, I can't figure out how to best use the keyboard. It detects the actual letter I want to type maybe 50% of the time at most.

The Note 4 has a 2.5D glass screen with the chamfored aluminium contour to give it a more premium look. It has definitely made a difference and makes the phone feel silky smooth. I really don't think the plastic trim around the Note 3 protected it much and it certainly wasn't attractive. People complained like hell to Samsung regarding premium design, they listened and they delivered and people are still moaning.
As for the Gear S, well looks are subjective and I for one believe it looks stunning. The thickness is down to many factors like a decent speaker, bigger battery, sensors and the sim tray. Comparing it to the Galaxy Gear and the LG G watch r, it's about the same in thickness. The fact it curves round the wrist makes it seem less bulky.
It's not silly to have a 3G and Wifi feature, it's what makes the watch stand out from the others. It's not meant for downloading apps, it's for use when your phone is unavailable. I believe you are missing the whole concept. If you want a thin fashion watch then this isn't the right watch for you and I doubt Samsung ever intended it to be fashionable. It's a techies dream and as far as I am concerned is the best smartwatch out there right now. Granted it is expensive but early adoption is always so. The same reason there aren't thousands of apps for it just yet.
My answer to the original question of whether I am disappointed with the Gear S. . it's an easy and resounding NO!

But what even just wifi gives you is at, say your office or home, you can leave your phone sitting on your desk or nightstand and roam freely about the place and still get calls and notifications on the Gear S.
Which to me, is awesome. And clearly better than the Gear Live (which can only helpfully remind you you've left your phone out of range when you walk into the next room)

Colour blending (blacks) problem

Anyone else notice blacks don't blend properly? I first noticed it with the gradient in the infinity wallpaper. It persists in movies too. The blacks don't blend and look pixelated. I've contacted Samsung support by email.View attachment 4451283

What resolution are you running at? I changed from the default to max resolution and no issues here.
Are you running at the lower resolution? If so, that may be why. Displays never look good at anything other then their default resolution, in this case WQHD+. That would explain the gradient issues you are seeing.
I have watched several videos on mine so far, and blacks, etc look great. No gradient or banding issues.
In fact, this display is much better than my Note 8. The color is more accurate, and there is no pink tinge at the top and bottom edges. There is also far less color shift when viewing at an angle.
Full resolution. WQHD+.

So today then...
Went down to my local Samsung Experience store, everything went fine in there. The rep took my phone out back and came back acknowledging a fault. She then explained that as its the S9+ Hybrid, they can't exchange in store. This can only be done by contacting customer services. The rep plugged the phone in to their system, ran diagnostics and created a support ticket for me to reference when calling.
So I dialled the UK based customer services. Explained the whole thing to them. They had issues pulling up the support ticket however took my details and went through the process, had been on the phone a good 20 minutes now already. The guy then told me I had to be put through to the online shop which is based in Manilla. Took about 5 minutes to get put through. The line was terrible, and it was a struggle communicating. Had to go through the whole lot again, another 15-20 minutes to be then told I had to be put through to their technical support! So I get put on hold and then...
*hung up tone* line went silent.
I was fuming. So had to start over. Back on to the UK number, quickly rushed through the whole thing again. She said that she would speak to Manilla herself first to explain, as for an exchange, I shouldn't be getting put through to technical support. Another 5 minutes of waiting for Manilla to pick up and I'm through again. Once again, rattled through the whole issue. End result:
I have to send back my device, which can take 3-5 working days to arrive. They then have to assess the device which will take another 3-5 days before they will send out the replacement.
I was not happy about this, as I've sent my old phone off to them as part of the pre-order deal already and I'll be without a phone for the duration. I also questioned why it has to be assessed when it's already been assessed in store. She just kept repeating the "procedure" over and over. I was getting frustrated and asked to speak to a manager as I felt that it was poor customer service. A manager came on but he repeated the same. They couldn't even explain to me, why I couldn't walk in to a Samsung store and get an exchange there and then. There was zero sympathy for a customer who'd spent nearly a grand on a phone, been a Samsung customer for years.
I've little choice now. I'm just annoyed that a huge company like Samsung won't go that extra mile for a customer. My phone is my business phone as well, I can't afford to be without it for up to 14 days. Spent over an hour on call to them as well. For a simple exchange. One whole hour for them to say, "stick the return label on, take it to DPD, we'll send you a replacement in 14 days".
Have been discussing this on Android Central as well, where there is a longer discussion with a lot of people experiencing the same issue. Whats irritated me is that one person there spoke to Samsung today and they're sending him out a replacement BEFORE he has to send his faulty one back. How is it different for two customers, yet same problem!?

This problem is called "Black Crush", and was one of the many problems I experienced with my Pixel 2 XL.
It can be fixed through software updates, and the problem is only visible at low brightness, and that's why most of the people haven't noticed it.
I will put this video for you, is about the Pixel 2 XL, but is about the same problem and also they suggest an app to minimize the issue:

I wouldn't bother. I can almost guarentee your new phone is going to come back and do the same, it's an issue that came about in Android 8.0. My Nexus 6P did the same after that update.

I'm glad it helped, honestly, is just a matter of time for Samsung to fix this, because in theory it should be really easy to patch.
I have the same issue (S9+ Single SIM) and actually created another thread about this a week ago.
For people saying it's an Oreo problem, well my S8 got the official Oreo update and still doesn't have this issue.

As I pointed out, you can install the app recommended in the video and try to improve it for yourself. A replacement won't do anything because is a matter of calibration, not the display itself.

Its kind of weird though, because otherwise the screen is flawless in my unit atleast, for the first time i got an Amoled screen with perfect white balance uniformity.
I think I have this issue as well. Last night while in bed I was watching a TV review on rtings and noticed what I thought was extreme video compression in one of their YouTube videos showing a test pattern. But then I looked at other images on the page and saw similar artifacting, compression or banding. This is very noticeable at low brightness. Even my gradient wallpaper from Samsung themes is showing tons of pixelation when transitioning to black toward the top at brightness below 40% or so. Do you guys see issues with these links below?
https://youtu.be/wg1tWXtH1zg (lots of smearing and compression here, looks horrible)
http://i.rtings.com/images/reviews/tv/sony/x900f/x900f-uniformity-local-dimming-large.jpg (I see a gray blob instead of a faint glow around the pattern)
My S7 edge never did this in over 2 years. It had a great display. I am not sure if my S9+ display is defective or if this a software issue. It seems like software but I am going to head to best buy and see if I can replicate it on another device. I am bummed I traded in my S7 and now can never get it back if this is a dealbreaker.
Is this the same issue you are experiencing?

This is a calibration issue, and I'm sure it will be addressed soon because many people are presenting this issue, and with many units I mean most of them.
Is only noticeable in low brightness as you pointed out, and that's why many people don't even know they have it.
I leave an image here taken from Android Central forum:
S9+ in top, S8+ in bottom.
:highfive:
Interesting. I just tested my S9+ alongside my coworker's S9 regular and his doesn't do this at all. Gradients and blends show up great with no crushing even at low brightness. Could this be isolated to this larger panel? I'm going to head to Best Buy today and see if I can replicate on their S9+.

Definitely. I checked it against my wifes regular S9 and hers doesn't have the problem.

Audio and screen issues

I come from a Nvidia Shield K1, which i was able to get a full refund on due to screen burn-in, basically upgrading to the 10.8 LTE version for 150E. Amazing deal, right? Not quite.
I mostly play rythm games on Android, and, as it turns out, this tablet seems to have serious compatibility issues with them. Playing around with the timing settings only goes so far, as there seems to be a constant delay between my inputs and their audio feedback, which, as you can imagine, inevitably throws me off when things get hectic.
In addition to that, certain notes in certain songs will ALWAYS drop, no matter what. I activated the touch screen visual feedback in developers options, so i'm 100% sure the physical tap isn't being dropped. As in, the tablet is still registering the touch, but the app for some reason "thinks" i lifted my fingers. Multitouch test also shows no issues, up to 10 simultaneous, swiping taps are registered and maintained for 30+ seconds with no fail.
On to my second point, is the color fidelity supposed to be good on this tablet? It seems to me that the "Vivid" setting oversaturates colors, especially in the red spectrum, while the absence of it makes everything look washed out. Ultimately, i couldn't find a setting i was happy with, so i did some research, and found out that most tablets include a sRGB option, since apparently android apps can't handle color accuracy well. This tablet has such option, but guess what, everytime i try to turn it on, it turns itself back off as soon as i touch any other setting or change menu. I'm not sure whether, were it working, this option would fix the colors in a way that satisfies me, but at least i'd like to try.
Did anyone else experience these issues, and can they eventually be fixed somehow? I honestly love the general look and feel of this tablet, but i'll reluctantly send it back if not, as they're a dealbreaker for me.
Regarding the audio issue, i did a side by side comparison with the Shield K1, pressing the same button in the same app, at the same time.
The M5 would sistematically lag behind by what i'd estimate between 100 and 150 milliseconds. This seems to happen in every app i downloaded from the playstore, but video playback of any kind isn't affected.
I didn't really notice at first, but now, knowing it's there makes it very noticeable, and everything feels sluggish. Could someone be so kind as to test this on their device? Maybe i just got a defective unit, but i highly doubt it.

OK so I've none of the issues described, but am running the M5 Pro version in my end. Can't comment on the standard variant though.

Thank you for taking the time to test. I'll have another one sent within 2 days, let's hope it was just a weird fault, though i still doubt it. I will update when it gets here.
Edit: changed my mind and went for the refund instead, will most likely give the 8.4" a shot next.

[Camera Problem] Camera doesn't save picture

Since 10 days threre is a bug in my Xperia 1. If I take a picture, camera doesn't save the picture, also in the small preview the loading image will be there for hours. After restart it works perfect for about 10 pictures, but the problems will be there again. If I will use another camera app there will will be a camera fault.
Xperia 10 or xperia 1? This is the Xperia 1 forum..
But anyways, try clearing data from the camera app. Settings > apps > Camera
Xperia 1, sorry fault in typing. I tried this 3 times, but no change
I have also had this problem. The camera app is trash. The battery and screen are the only things going for this overpriced junk. Sony should deliver more for the price they are asking.

Camera app is trash, It's slowest app on the entire phone. I don't have any issues on other apps loading but Camera app takes seconds to load.
Like the OP said photos are being processed and it's not saved for a long time. Need a restart of the entire phone to get them to work.
Then again sometimes photos are saved as green, like complete useless.
And you shouldn't say like sell it and move on cause us/consumers bought this phone paying $1000 because we have a trust in the company, And I have been using Sony for the past decade, I always had problems with their camera app. It's so laggy.
From the start to transition of three cameras then video recording lag, no smoothness in zooming in during video etc. But why I buy Sony? cause I have a faith that in some point they will fix it, but they never do. Then you may ask why I still buy Sony cause I love the design and as a hardware product Sony has a very minimal failure rate. Like my XZP I have used for entire two years, never gave me a single issue except for laggyness of the camera.
So when someone comes and complains an issue in Q&A and when they are really pointing out a real issue don't say "Sell it and Move on if you're not happy." it's like you're making Sony Mobile extinct. Your attitude makes them wanna quit mobile developing. So think about it before say something like this before, Don't be that guy in the internet. :highfive:

Camera does load slow, but I can live with it. Photos do not take a long time to process. I don't need to restart my phone in order to get them to work. Photos never saved as green for me. But of course, my experience is different from others.
Never had recording lag. Smoothness well yeah it's not smooth. I bought Sony because I like Sony as well. Have been using Xperia since 2014.
Do a software repair, which usually fixes 99% of all problems. I'm just saying, if you're not happy, then sell and move on. Complaining won't get you anywhere, will only get you so far.

No you can't live with that, It's a real bummer that it takes ages to load, I mean it's 2019 and take a look at other OEMs how much attention they pay to their cameras. This is why Sony is lagging behind. Look how much Sony's other divisions listen to consumer. I don't think I can accept the fact that it takes like 2 seconds to load the app. There was a time Camera app was really fast to open.

Well Zooming in isn't really smooth if you hadn't used it, This proves how often do you use the camera app. It's like these things are new to you.
Have you used a compact camera? or a camcorder? It's like that. https://youtu.be/WHpo-Dl4yt4?t=465
Take a look at this and see cause he literally explains the smoothness on zooming in and the recording. Frames dropping when the phone gets heated up.
Then again I feel like this 960fps is fun to use when you get it first but how often do you use it. I'd rather have 1080p 120fps/240fps, 4K 24fps/30fps/60fps and a smooth transition in cameras which is totally can be done by software. Sony needs to focus on the camera app and be serious about it. I mean they headed in the right direction with this phone but they cut it off immediately by delivering a mediocre camera software. I wouldn't mind them contacting Google and asking them to use Gcam on this phone, like literally let google use Googles software cause it's that bad. I use it and I take photos and I do love the photos comes out of this phone, I genuinely do and I wanna use the camera a lot but I get bored and tired of using it cause the restrictions they have.

Bro why would I be doing software repairs for silly problems like this? This easily can be fixed with a software update. Plus If I keep doing software updates for each and every problem I have with the phone, I would be only doing that but not using the phone. SOFTWARE REPAIR IS NOT A FIX.
Sony should serious about smart phone cameras as they're with mirrorless and RX-100 series. Don't say sell it and move on to a guy who's been using Sony phones from 2005 when Sony was with Ericsson, when Sony was having some of the best camera phones.: highfive:

I can live with it. Because I'm patient. I'm not sure how you can dictate if I can live with how things are or not. Again, the photos process fast for me without any problems. Regardless if I save on the SD card or internal storage.
Software repair is a fix for some issues. Hence "repair". It solves a lot of software problems. You've been using phones since 2005? Congrats! AFAIK, there's internal struggles with their Alpha cameras and mobile, hence the bad connection between the two. The current (new) president of Sony mobile was the first to "unite" them in a way.
But anyways, you have your opinions, I have mine. Don't try to force your way on me, especially from someone who has been "using Sony phones from 2005".
I suggested a fix via Software Repair. If it doesn't work, complain on the proper forum; or sell and move on.
Ok i have this problem too... And its really annoying because when i want to find it in my album last pic that i took its not there
Had this problem to.
Hard reset fixed it for me. (Hold volume up + power until 3 times vibration)
I have to agree with you chesterr...
This isnt the way Sony handled us. Btw Using Sony (ericsson) since the phones with the first color screens.
Cmon, its a flagship phone. How can your phone/app be laggy?
Look at the sections of sony phones, its just empty.
Why?
Because of the "I am sony, I am high class" logic.
I know they are busy with the new android but atleast fix those minor bugs.. Its really frustating. It has nothing to do with patience. What if you need to take a picture of a fast moving object? Shoot out with "hey wait I have patience! Im gonna take a picture"!?
Be realistic. No offence of course.
in gallory app, there is a troubleshooting option in in-app settings, it can solve ur problem.
or, you can disable sony's gallory app, use other gallory app like Google Photos instead.

Oddly I do not have this problem with the launch of the camera. It does not even take a half-second to open the application, taking photos longer is quite logical because there is an intermediate (the dram). Moreover, the xperia 5, which does not have dram, taking photos is faster. For unregistered photos I wonder if this is not a material design defect related to the dram since there are only some people who are concerned and not all of the users.

The problem is launching from the lockscreen with the camera button. Camera icon works flawlessly.
So the dram chip is a complete failure then?

the dram is actually much faster but acts like a cache. So in practice, the data is stored on the dram then the internal memory or the microsd and a delay is mandatory. The advantage of the dram is to be able to offer a better bursts or an idle 960 fps. A good example for the transfer delay is in a reflex camera where you can see the buffer empty during a burst. But for unregistered photos a problem of dram is not an exclude it is only flash memory and in this area it's pretty recurrent I had several defective ssd or ram to the purchase . Obviously this is only an assumption I would prefer that it is purely software for those concerned by the problem

Even from the lockscren I do not have that, after the camera is torn down in the android battery optimization, and I activated the smart launch as well as the immediate take. That may be the difference.

Yes, tried I hope your problem will be solved. Have a good day
Android optimization? How?
I made an account just to reply here for whoever may one day face this issue - I just purchased an xperia XZ [I know its 2021 and its from 2016] anyway, I love xperia phones and am replacing my xperia z3+
Anyway!
TO FIX THIS =============================
First test to verify --- REMOVE YOUR SD CARD [Can you see your photos?]
IF YES
THEN
FORMAT YOUR SD CARD AS EXTERNAL / INTERNAL STORAGE [whichever option you are allowed I chose external]
Your problem will then be fixed.
I tried transferring my sd card from previous xperia directly to my new one and thats what caused this problem.
I hope this helps you, don't be upset, its a wonderful device.... <3
