Just as the title says. Oh the woes of a VZW stepchild phone.
so jacked... i love the phone, hate hate hate verizon.
I dont care anymore. Im going to use mine as a go pro camera. I have an iphone as my main phone. **** verizon
If you guys do consider upgrading, better appraise the phone through Verizon now to hold value when it comes out. Because you go on eBay and lowest selling is about 225, whereas Verizon appraises you $310.

How would I just go about selling it back to vzw rather than trade in. I understand that no one will be selling the moto x PE so would they give me cash for it or is it just trade in value?

They aren't free. They are subsidized by the 2 year contract Verizon makes you sign. You are paying for the phone in installments. Phew...glad I got that off my chest. Carry on.
We know they are not "free", but its better than throwing down 199.

Okay, I don't want to come off strong, and this isn't only aimed at you, but I'm tired of seeing posts like this. I understand pointing out the distinction that the phones aren't actually free, but the practicality of the matter is that if you're going to be paying for your phone service whether you upgrade or not, then the phone IS free because it's not costing you any more by upgrading than it is to keep using your old phone. Sure, you're agreeing that you'll be keeping the service for another two years (or pay an early termination fee), but how often do most people switch mobile carriers?
Jeesh.
What you said is absolutely true. If you are going to stay with Verizon anyway, you might as well leverage their NE2 and upgrade deals to get cool phones. I just would like for people to understand that the phones come at a cost. If some great deal comes along where you'd save a bunch of money if you switched, you can't. If you can't afford a smartphone anymore...too bad. You still have to pay for it.
I'll probably mention it again at some point. My apologies in advance.

That's okay! LOL. Thanks for taking my comment in stride.
Actually, there's nothing preventing you from still using some old flip phone and not having the data charges any more, if you decide to change. The contract is only that you keep your phone service. There's no requirement that you keep your level of data plan, or that you even keep using your smart phone at all. You could sell it (they might not like it but they don't actually do anything about it) and use the funds to buy an old flip phone plus have some money left over, unless you keep your old phones (I wouldn't, I'd sell or recycle them for money), then it would be all profit.
Interesting... I was going to buy a Samsung Fascinate from a guy who bought it through Verizon for his kid, and then decided that they didn't really need data. He had already switch out phones. When I ran the ESN it came up bad. So I had him call Verizon and they said he couldn't drop the data plan, so he didn't sell me the plan.
And honestly, that makes sense. Otherwise everyone would grab a $400 phone for some cheap price, then immediately switch to some cheaper phone and sell the expensive one. So I don't think its as simple as you make it sound to drop the data plan.
Hmmm looks like i can only "annual" upgrade at Verizon, if i want the cheap prices i would have to wait till june.
might just get a DInc for 99.99, then do the Verizon trade in on the Eris for 132....or strip it down and use it as a VOIP phone or something for the house.
Do you have the link to the Verizon trade in handy?

FYI, depending on the phone, sometimes http://wsf4.letstalk.com/flipswap/modelselectionpopup.htm gives much more. I checked one phone a couple months ago and it was more than double on one than the other. And it was vice-versa with a different phone I had. Note that I haven't actually used either service yet, so I can't rate them.
I sold them on eBay for much more $$$!

yea u can^ keep calling around... someone wants a sell
200 is an excellent deal if its in the condition they say it is and has the beats headphones. It's still a good deal without the headphones.
make sure you verify the esn before purchase.
Its easy to get early upgrades from Verizon if you call them. It has become pretty difficult in store as of late as they all seem to have the same script. Just tell them your current phone is driving you bat **** and you cant take it anymore. Also mention you've tried to wait it out. They will ask you what phone you want, and then they will send you the phone overnight for whatever 2yr price is currently listed on the VZ website. Your upgrade will vanish and your upgrade cycle will restart.
You could always buy the Rezound off contract now and get whatever phone is at the top of the pile in august.
I picked up a GNEX on CL for 275.00 even though I have an upgrade available. It replaced my sons DX2. I'm saving the upgrade for the next great VZ phone, which will save me from a 600-800 dollar off contract price on release day(impulse buyer).
I currently have 5 lines and I try to keep one upgrade available at all times just in case.

I've gotten upgrades 1 year + early. Just depends on who you talk to and what you say. Also factors such as tenure, payment history , ARPU (how much $$ you are worth to VZW) etc etc.
oh wow that could mean I could get the rez for 50 bucks now. I really don't see too may phones popping up other than the one v but even then we've hit a point in hardware where only battery tech may improve over the next year. 1.5ghz dual core and plenty of ram will run sense4.0 easy along with any 3.5 rom.
I've only been with vzw for a year and a half now with a family plan of 3 lines but my phone is my main line of work communication calls emails etc.

They're pushing out Quadcore SoC's already this year. It's nice but totally unecessary, at this point hardware is overpowered. At this point in game it's all about software optimizations. But manufacterer's need to make them cash dollars $$$. Just try calling Verizon when they open up tomorrow and see if you can get your upgrade pushed.

id say it's a steal considering most rezounds i see on ebay and craigslist still go for $300+.
If this is to be believed, VZW is going to carry the One along with the rest of the U.S. carriers. That's fantastic news for HTC as they've accomplished (selling the same device on all four U.S. carriers) what Samsung did with the SGS3 which was one of the cornerstones of its success. And HTC really needs some success. It also explains the appearance and disappearance of a red version of the One off of HTC's website.
"It looks like HTC’s One really will be the one flagship for the Taiwanese phone maker. When HTC announced the phone last month, it said the One would be sold at AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. A mention of Verizon was noticeably absent. However, Verizon will also carry the high-end Android device according to a source familiar with the situation. Its launch at Verizon, though, will trail the other U.S. carriers by a month or two as it winds its way through the testing process. HTC and Verizon representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment."http://allthingsd.com/20130313/exclusive-htc-one-headed-to-verizon-too/
So do you think it'll be offered alongside the DNA or are the two devices too similar?
Even though I went from a DNA to a Note 2 and now back to a DNA, I will be buying the One the very minute it is available for Verizon. How's that for impact?
or just do this http://blog.htc.com/2013/03/htc-one-developer-edition/
If it does come to verizon and if I can sell my DNA on ebay for $600 then yes I may get it. If not then no
I have a feeling the resale value of the DNA might plummet when the One hits. Not saying the DNA isn't an amazing phone, but if you have to pick one of the two at similar prices... The only thing I can think of that would really retain the DNA's resale value would be if yours is already unlocked / rooted / s-off. Considering the post-OTA (and all new) phones cannot achieve this yet, I think it'll be a surge to the price for phone that already are unlocked.

With my ebay skills 80% will sell $600.
20% it wont if my skills fail.
Also who knows what the outright price for the one will be if it does come to VZW.
It has very little impact to me as I love my DNA.
Sure people complain of battery life but I get a full day out of mine usually, they complain about only having 16 GB of internal memory but I use Spotify for my music and Drive for my pictures and most places I frequent have wifi. My 8MP camera takes lovely pictures and I already have a quad core processor with 2 GB of RAM. Speaker mode on the DNA is fabulous.
Also, I love having a pocketable 5 inch 1080p device.
Fyi I got a DNA that was used for a week off Craigslist for 425 with two cases and wireless charger...so remember that eBay will take fees from the seller...I just sold an iPhone 5 on eBay for 560 and eBay took 50 bucks just for the damn sale..and then PayPal takes 2% or something too...so yeah.

That phone will work in the U.S.data wise on Verizon in an LTE area (at this point NJ is almost fully blanketed where I live)....who uses their phone to talk anyway? LOL
And once Verizon implements VOLTE, you could in theory use that phone on Verizon here. So if this was 2014 that phone would be perfect!

so it *might* be something like 599/699/749 or some variation in there off contract
on contract would probabaly be 199/299 of 16/32 which is what id assume verizon would carry (just a guess)
and dna would probably drop to 149 or 99 on contract directly from verizon....probably 49 or free on 3rd party websites

Same here. I had to list it 3 times too before the buyer actually came up with the money.
On thing to remember if your going to sell ANY phone your not going to make a profit. It just makes getting a new phone a little better.
I will be getting the One I have two upgrades available in October so I should be able to get it in September. I hope thats when its released. The developer edition I think is BS pretty sure guys here on XDA will be able to crack the One without me paying extra.
I found a link that compares DNA to One camera check it out http://pocketnow.com/2013/03/13/htc-one-camera-vs-droid-dna-camera#!prettyPhoto
I'm actually happy with my DNA (understatement) and since Sense 5 will be sent to the DNA the only two things that will make me get the new Verizon HTC One (Probably being named the DNA+) would be better battery life and availability in white other than that I doubt that I will be swayed

If they end up selling the Nexus 6 directly which I suspect they are going to, then they will most likely sell MotoCare for it as well. It's a great plan, I have it on both my Moto X's. They do advanced replacements which gives it another huge one-up over Squaretrade. I'm about to pay the $35 deductible and get a new 2013 Moto X just to get one in pristine condition to hold on to for sentimental reasons.
Not a bad idea but honestly a day apart and no announcement, I thiink that we should not get expectations high.

However, it's still just leasing a phone until you finally separate. i figured I can make out more by buying my phones outright, and selling the old one on Swappa. Has anyone yet purchased the Verizon LG V10? Im about to take the leap and just do it, but was hoping someone here has already.
I'm obviously concerned it will be locked down tight and root will be impossible, like so many other Verizon devices. I'm coming from Nexus devices, so this is going to be a large change for me if I do actually do it.
I will get it once bestbuy has them in stock 11/6

I'm curious about this too.
I took the plunge on the Note 5, thinking I could live without root. I hated it. Gave it to my wife and am using her old phone while I wait.
The V10 would be my choice if root is possible, I don't care about the bootloader. If not I'll go Nexus. I need to decide before I miss out on the 200gb sd card promotion.
I got mine yesterday and it's alot different than my note 3. If there's no root I will definitely get rid of it. I really like everything about it except at the bottom where the lg logo is. I wished they would have used it somehow for the home buttons. The power and volume controls are gonna take a while to get used to them. Overall if I have root, I will love it.

Which color did you get?
I'm wondering if the Verizon Luxe White is the same as the "rose gold" color that is on the Korean model used in all the You Tube reviews.

Please post some pics of it, if you can.
I got mine the day it came out. I LOVE this phone. Best phone I've ever had and I change phones every 6 months. Verizon bands are good too. I decided on black one

Pics or it didn't happen.
I'm thinking of getting the V10 today. VZ only has the Black and White versions (that i've physically seen) Seems like a badass phone. I hope root comes soon and a good dev support. I'm coming from the G3
Not in stores
Just called the 3 closest Verizon stores. None of them have the V10 yet.

This what you want?
Oh, well. I broke down and went and got the V10 today. The 200gb sd card promo got me. Root or bust, now.
Was kind of bummed Verizon screwed me out of factory ear buds again. I liked the look of those rose gold ear buds.
I'm waiting till the 15th when I can get with monthly payments and just catch the LG promo on it's last day. Praying to hear some root/bootloader news for something other than a tmobile device by that time.

I second that.. how do we go about getting that $80 credit/rebate?
The Verizon rep just told me about it in store. I didn't know anything about it.

What are the details of it, only on payment plan or will it work for full retail price?
