Re-partitioning necessary/possible/how? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all.
I would like to re-partition my GT-P7500 to create system partition of 1 or 2 GB size.
Reason for it - system partition is quite full even after full wipe and just necessary apps install. Especially since my migration on to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop (aosp-5.1.1-p4-20150729)
Is flashing with Odin + customized pit file the only way to do it?
Who could create pit file with, let's say 2GB system partition?
I really don't mind having smaller data area, but want to avoid space issues in system.
My partitions now, after full wipe/basic install:
Cache:
total - 440.95MB
used - 7.5MB
Efs:
total - 11.80MB
used - 8.14MB
Data:
total - 12715.62MB
used - 1862.17MB
System:
total - 568.89MB
used - 490.57MB (86% !!!)
Thank you and have a nice day.

No one knows? Really?

It's not needed to increase the system partition. I believe it would do more harm than good anyway. That partition is only used for pre installed system apps anyway.

Thank you very much!
I'll stop to worry about space on System partition

I hope you are not trying to flash a ROM from this forum because you have a galaxy note tablet an we all have an ancient gt-p7510 or GT-P7500. The roms in this forum will totally screw your tablet up.

I have PIT issue
I downloaded Roms from Samsung website
I just have issue and I have some knowledge about Android Flashing
Thank you by the way

If you need a PIT file you might have better luck in the correct forum. This is not the forum for your type of tablet.

[Q] {URGENT} Download mode problem!!

HI,
I have Samsung S3 i tried to upgrade it to the latest firmware via Odin and while it was in processing my laptop froze so i restarted it and now when i get my phone into download mode i get those information:
Product name:
Custom Binary Download: NO
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
as u can see the product name is "empty"
I really need your help! please...
Thanks
Have you tried to reflash with odin?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
The main thing is you can get into download mode still, like previous post said reflash on a reliable laptop
Reflash with odin. If still problem, remove/replace. battery and Reflash. I think it ll work...

Thanks alot for your help i will try now and give u the results...

Start odin, put your rom on pda, leave everything unchanged, make sure that repartition button is not enabled, start your phone in download mode, and wait until you see in odin message "added" , than click start. I wish you luck.

I'm a bit of a Noob but here's what I would try - go to sammobile.com and find the latest official ROM for your phone/area. Download it to laptop. Start Odin. Put phone into Download mode then connect it. Click PDA and find the download file and flash it.
The official file should have all you need, but if you did this previous with PIT clicked you will need to ask someone more experienced than me - I haven't had any experience with that.
Another thing you might try is DL Revolution ROM (search for ARHD 9) and follow the Superwipe instructions to get rid of all the previous possible crap. I noticed when I used it there was all kinds of format-type stuff happening as the ROM installed.
If flashing with repartition failed after first try and now your nand is improperly partitioned or not partitioned at all, than you must now thick repartition while flashing by Odin because in other case it will not even start nand write.
But to make it properly you need Rom with separate parts (3 file firmware: PDA, PHONE, CSC) and proper .pit file for mapping new partition structure to flash it.
I can give you a link for such firmware but only for XEO region. If you need another one you must find it yourself.
Rom:
https://hotfile.com/dl/158814567/30ec3bc/GT-I9300_XEO_I9300XXALEF_I9300OXFALEA_I9300XXLEF.rar.html
Proper pit for above firmware:
https://hotfile.com/dl/162097667/e5b3f90/mx.zip.html
Flash with those probably will be successful, but if your nand partition information was erased than there is a risk of data loss on efs partition. But this will be your future problem.
i9.0.1.3k galaxy imperator
I think op need to use a proper pit file along with some stock odin rom to resolve this issue
《spilled from dragon jellybean rom》
And run ODIN as administrator.
My first NAND write failed win W7.
I retried it it worked (but as an Admin)
I still have the same problem even when i run odin as an administrator
still got that pit partition error!!

Stuck on Boot Logo

Hello, I'd be grateful for some assistance. This morning my s3 was in my pocket and felt really warm. I pulled it out and it was stuck on the boot logo. I'm assuming it had been on that for a while which is why it heated up.
Now, the phone doesn't boot up. I can get into download mode but not recovery.
I did have the Siyah Kernel installed as well as a JB rom.
I have downloaded the latest firmware image for my region UK - (I9300XXEMB5_I9300OXAEMB5_BTU) and tried installing but have had no luck. Below is the message I get. Please help.

Have you tried with another usb port and are you using stock samsung usb cable?
Your partition structure of the internal storage card is corrupt, the phone is soft bricked. You can usually format and recover if you have backups, particularly of the efs folder.
If you don't then there are a few solutions here on the forum you can try, otherwise it's a Samsung repair.

Hello, thanks for your reply. I don't have a backup. Would you please point me in the right direction? I'm not sure what I need to do?? where would I get the recovery??(Is that the bootloader?Kernel?Rom?)
Search and read here in Q&A, without a backup of your efs it is less likely to succeed. Otherwise return to Samsung for repair.

From what I can make out I need to reformat the internal storage. To do this I need the correct pit file. I can't find it on samfirmware.com.

Higher chances your phone can easily be recovered
The only problem is if you havent backed up ur data u could loose it.
Im not sure if u can back it up at this stage unless its on the external memeory card.
Method 1:
- Copy over the flashable OMNI ROM Zip file to an external memory card then insert in phone
- remove battery,
- re-insert battery,
- hold MENU KEY + VOLUME UP + POWER KEY for like 3 - 5 seconds then release
- The phone will enter recovery mode
NOW if it happens to be CWM recovery (u just flashed) and not the Original Stock recovery
then you could do a DATA WIPE / WIPE DATA normally deletes the apps and not personal files but I believe OMNI ROM uses a different file system compared to original Samsung stock ROMS so if your flashing was successful and ur pohone is just suffering from a bootloop then ur personal data (pictures, videos , personal files) may have already already been have wiped. eboot and u could be good to go with OMNI ROM
OR u could use the same recovery to flash the OMNI ROM Zip file on the external SD Card... (google or search on XDA how to flash a ROM using CWM Recovery)
Method 2: will set everything as how it was before if above fails or is complicated
My advice Flash a samsung STOCK ROM using Odin (u need to google or search on XDA on how to flash the phone with Odin ///pretty easy though)
Also download a samsung stock ROM version which was currently on your phone when you bought the phone not any later versions unless your phone was updated via OTA then download that version just to avoid some possibilites of corrupting the EFS..you can download most samsung stock ROMs from here
Your phone should be restored to stock and should work fine. If u still need to use Omni ROM or any other ROM (in most cases) then u would need to ROOT ur stock rom , flash CWM and flash your ROM. but just after rooting its always a good idea to backup ur EFS Folder/EFS Partition (These two links may help you link 1 link 2)
Note: if you dont tick REPARTITION while flashing with Odin chances are your data on the internal memory could be available and not erased just a heads up
Thanks...

Edit:
My ace is alive This is way is good and rom works !
Hi @kozak245 ; writing failure procedure at the end of the log might be caused by corrupt image file / pit file and other things . I would suggest you do whatever i instructed here for this fellow to get to the clean state and then decide on whether you flash your preference s5839i later from sammobile or stay on s5830i split version . <btw disable/uninstall any kies app , if installed on your system >
EFS partition back up/ data backup/Nandroid backup is recommended , before the process.
Ok thanks, i do all full wipe and cache partition
And i have 1 question: can you recommended stable and fast rom for this model? Maybe stock 2.3.6 is the best?
Please for some guides (cwm, root and rom )

2nd part of the question was addressed by some fellow and for the rom we are discouraged @ XDA to promote for Roms , just observe this link mate < categorized for your need neatly >
Also all you need to acquire was linked inside my first post; read all of it carefully to revert back correctly .
I promoted one ROM in post 4, because at the beginning no one told me which ROM is ok and which it's not.
And I made a big mistake, that I thought I had terminated my phone.
OK.
I deleted the promote of the post 4.

Flash recovery twrp. 2.8.7.3 via heimdall. Other way flash back to stock rom with i9300 pit file via odin.. make sure you choose the right pit for i9300 16gb or i9300 32gb.
Id blame twrp. I had nothing but issues with it. Flash back to stock and start over. It's now your only option.
There is a chance you've had sds (sudden death syndrome) and the nand could be corrupt. You fix it with a pit file via odin but ONLY as a last resort. Flashing pit files is a final throw before pronouncing it's death.
The stuff i use : https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0B4vTiHTBB629ZW5vQndpbjFnblk/edit
You will NOT find a pit file in there as i don't support pit flashing, because it is final. It either works or it doesn't. You will have to find one yourself if you need one.

I tried flashing with Odin and Heimdall. All i get at the end is failed. Odin fails at NAND and heimdall runs till 100% for all whatever i choose. Suggest me any procedure on how to check if my internal storage is intact and can be retrieved. So that i can atleast sleep peacefully.

Flash recovery twrp. 2.8.7.3 via heimdall. Other way flash back to stock rom with i9300 pit file via odin.. make sure you choose the right pit for i9300 16gb or i9300 32gb.

Tried flashing PIT and was unsuccessful. Not sure if the data partition is intact and if so how to know its presence and the status of it.
Anyone solve this problem? I'm using N7100 and get this problem too
Tried to flash PIT with new odin version always noti "failed",
with 3.0.7, 3.0.9, odin freeze at "Get PIT for mapping..", I waited more than 30 minutes but nothing happen,
Tried to flash stock ROM but failed at "NAND Write Start!!"
Someone please help me fix this problem.
Are you using the original Samsung USB cable? Tried other USB cables and USB 2.0 ports?
oh, hi audit13,
Of course I used original Samsung USB cable, I changed some other cables, and USB ports(2.0, 3.0) to test, but nothing new.
I think no one can fix this problem, bring to cell store is the best choice
When flashing with Odin, which is the file that fails to flash? Maybe post the Odin log?

There shoot.bin file is not flashing because the memory is damaged, the ROM is not for the phone, the bootloader in the phone is newer than bootloader in the rom, or you need a different USB cable.

"the bootloader in the phone is newer than bootloader in the rom"
Sorry, but how to know bootloader in the phone is newer than bootloader in the rom?
I flashed Roms with Android ver 4.4.4, 6.0.1, 7.1.1, and don't know much about bootloader, can you help me find my bootloader ver and find the way to resolve this problem. Thanks
