Low mic volume on all roms - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a Galaxy s3 UK version i have recently went back to it and updated to Android lollipop and used many roms including the touchwiz 4.4.4 roms.
However, my mic volume is low i tried recording my voice and i could barely hear it and the same when the other person is on the other side of the phone.
I've tried using boeflla kernel to raise the mic volume but still the same problem.

fixed the problem it needed a cleaning

Use boeffla kernel and activate boeffla sound mod.
Change speaker to 63 and in-call mic to 28
It should work like a charm.

I don't know .. maybe you should format your device

[Q] Samsung i9100 microphone not working when headset or bluetooth is connected

Hey All
I couldnt find a related thread so here goes
Samsung galaxy s2 i9100
android : 2.3.7
base i9100xxkl1
kernel 2.6.35.7
cyanogen 7.1.0
build gwk74
I was tinkering with the *#19xxxxx codes and probably changed something
now ,whenever i make or receive calls with either headphones (no mic) or a bluetooth headset (with mic) , the microphone doesnt seem to work at all
the microphone works fine,as i am able to record from internal mic while the headphones are plugged in
Whenever i make calls with the handset the microphone works fine
I have tried to flash a different kernel,a different mod, returned to the stock mod and kernel, still no luck
naturally it stays after multiple reboots/hard resets/factory resets
could anybody tell me where the settings for microphone volumes are kept in the firmware and how do i reset them to defaults?
Have you managed to figure this out? I actually have a Galaxy Note and posted the same question in that forum, but just like your thread no one responded either.
I have learned a few things since then, but I truly believe this is an engineering/design mistake. My handset does not recognize headphones properly, meaning headphones without the mic shuts off the handset's microphone. This should not happen. My last three phones all understood there wasn't a microphone and to keep the microphone on the handset active.
Also, I have some pictures of the different headset types and how to recognize them here:

[Q] Low/quiet earpiece in call volume on GB ROMs, fine on ICS?

I've searched and searched, but haven't been able to find a solution.
Some ROM's have very low call volume through the earpiece, and some are fine. The speakerphone volume is okay, so is when using a headset, just the earpiece volume is very very low. AOKP ICS is fine, but for a few reasons I still wan't to run a Gingerbread based ROM, but Unnamed and Unoriginal have very low call volume.
I've tried accessing the service menu, but it won't let me click into the audio menu. As a last resort yesterday I purchased the Volume+ app, but it didn't make any difference.
Any ideas on how to resolve the low earpiece call volume on Gingerbread ROMs?
-Regards,
Steve
I'm running the official ICS release, and still low volume. =(
What did AOKP do to fix it?
when i was using gingerbread, this is what i did:

Awesome thanks! I wonder if I can use the phone libs from AOKP to fix the official ICS release, since this fix is GB only.

[q] Skype + Omega 31 + Siyah Kernel 1.7rc1 = mic does not work

Hello,
Just tried Skype first time today and mic does not work - I can hear and see other person but they cannot hear me.
I never tried Skype with different rom/kernel before.
Does anyone have the same issue?
Thanks
You may have dirt or some gunk in the mic hole, just get a pin and GENTLY swirl it around, I had the same issue but mine works fine now

I had the same problem today. Omega 32.1 and Siyah 1.7rc3. Mic not working in Skype, very very low in sound meter app of Smart Tools and Voice Recording app.
Updated Siyah to 1.8 but was the same. Reverted to Stock kernel XXDLJ5 and mic is now working properly.
But I know skype was working fine only a few days (Nov 20) and I have installed this ROM and Siyah on Nov 15. So I'm puzzled?

If you have siyah kernel: be sure that you play at least one sound before trying to use the mic!
Best way to do it: enable lockscreen sound
I've got the same problem with the stock 4.1.2 ROM. Just flashed the latest Siyah kernel, everything looked pretty fine, until I tried S Voice. I noticed it doesn't pick up my voice at all. Tried voice recording with RecForge Pro - I used max (+20db) amplification in RecForge's settings and even then the volume it picked up was going to only about two thirds of the scale. Very very quiet. I didn't find any microphone sensitivity settings in STweaks, just a lot of stuff about speakers and equalizers.
I tried the "play sound" tip - enabled the screen lock sound, locked and unlocked the screen, also played some sounds using Music Player as well as the Sound Player, no changes.
Any ideas? I'll have to flash the stock kernel back for now because obviously one needs a working microphone to use a phone as a phone Too bad because I like Siyah. I hope somebody knows how to fix this?
Update: Turning the boot sound (which I turned off earlier) back on fixed the problem. Hmmm...
i've the same problem with omega 32.1 and siyah 1.8
s voice works fine
but google now and voice recorder not :/
i've tried soundhound and shazam too but the volume of mic is too low

[Q] [Help] Louder volume through Bluetooth Headphone.

I've Searched much about it before thinking open a thread, but I got nothing wich could help me.
Is there a way to boost music volume when using BT Headphones ? I'm on android 4.3 ProBam v4.4.2. tried few kernel ( like boeffla to adjust the sound volume but it doesn't seems to affect BT Sound)
Tried also alot of others version and roms 4.2.2 and 4.1.2 still no good.
the mod wich actually boost a little the volume was Viper4Android. but I got just a "little up" from the level I was.
My question is... is there anything I could do to boost the volume up using BT Headphones ?

There is little you can do about bluetooth volume. Unlike Speaker, Wired headphones etc, these are not limited to the kernel. It is limited by the bluetooth module and it is controlled independently. Whetever you have now, is what you're stuck with pretty much.
in DSP manager on AOSP roms, it's possible with a few tweaks to the EQ, you may be able to simulate a louder volume. People advised me to try things with modified DSP managers. Such as MegaBeats. It increased bass, but didnt give more volume.
Yeah, i was kinda exprectin that.
but yet, thank you guys for your help

Why is it that AOSP ROMs on the I9300 have mic quality issues?

Specifically talking about voice notes in the Voice Recorder app or Whatsapp
The sound is just muffled, distorted. Tried two 6.0 ROMs and one 4.4.4 ROM (the port from KR S3), only the KK does the job.
Is it because of the sound HAL? I'd love to somehow fix this, I would even invest time in researching and possibly find test/find a fix if someone could clear things up for me on how AOSP/Cyanogenmod does sound compared to stock i9300 ROM
Also volume is much lower and distorted on speakers. If i want to watch something must be at the highest volume. Its the only way I can hear it.Tried boeffla kernel and tried to change and it became more distorted. Also have battery drain while phone idle and reverted back to good old 4.3 stock rom.
Open source code. That's why.
Beamed in by telepathy.
