[Q] V8 3840 Lollipop ROM Bounty? - Dell Venue

So apparently...
https://i.gyazo.com/186ad69bf51e0ec22817ffdb3df08d22.png
There was a topic like this here, but it seems that apparently it was for the Venue 8 3830. Basically people were throwing up a bounty together for someone to build a custom ROM for it. It also seems that we can't participate ("3840 users create your own topic").
So here we are. If you put a post on the 3830 bounty page but actually intended it to be for the 3840, then probably it is best to remove your post and instead replace it here. Let's create a bigger and more successful bounty, and let's get that ROM before they will

[Q] Streak 5 Gingerbread source code?

I've seen several references to an alpha version of Gingerbread sources posted by Dell, so I looked here:
http://opensource.dell.com/releases/streak/
It appears Dell removed the Gingerbread folder. Does anybody know if they are still available somewhere?
This thread has something relevant, but I'd like to see the source as Dell posted it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999150
Tried to post this on the development forum, but I don't have the post count to do so.
Thanks.

I really dont know why they removed it, but I have the source.
I'll stick it in my dropbox..
If you want to get involved with getting it working better then I'm more than happy to share it! as I am having a bear with sensors .
Thank you very much. I've been following your progress on the Gingerstreak thread and wondered where you got the sources.
Off course I'd like to get involved, although this would be the second time I try to compile Android (the first was for a Sharp Netwalker, which I failed miserably - the kernel booted a console, but never got the Android system to come up). I have experience programming in C for microcontrollers but never worked on something this big before.
Just give me some pointers and I'll try my best =)
well its best to discuss it on IRC #dellstreak, but building the kernel isn't hard (once you got past the typos and static links in the source code).
sounds like you needed to work on the ramdisk, on your sharp.
we have all that working, but any help investigating why the sensors/power is messed up is very much appreciated.
I'll up the code now, I did start to set up a gitweb, but for some reason (quite possibly my stupidity) it doesnt want to sync with my source

[Q] how can I help with this project?

*edit* sorry, didn't notice general warning, please move to Q&A
I migrated from SGS i9000 to a huawei G700 phone featuring a mtk6589 chipset.
Sadly, the android version limits the possibilities of the phone really hard: it's oriented towards users who play nicely with their phone, not towards me!
so, to keep a long story short, I'd like CM to be ported to this device. this is not a top-of-the-line product, so I'll certainly have to do it myself.
I already got the complete OS image, kernel properties, installed applications, and so on (boot.img, uboot.img, ...), locally installed here.
the question is: where to go from here? In your guides, I can follow what the developers explain to do and why they are doing it, but I got no idea how to convert this OS image into a CM image ...
Also, as there are apparently developers waiting for mtk6859 roms, should I send them a message asking for their help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2375957
the only issue here is that I can't contact them yet because of the noob limit.

[Q] [q] Best version for mediapad 30x

Hi everyone, after seeing a mammoth 6 to 8 new downloads, can anyone give the best advice and experience:
1. Which is their favourite
2. What does not work in 1 above
3. In the most recent versions bluetooth does not work, can we therefore save the relevant libs-etc-files from a working version, and replace them
4. Does anyone still have the old HWMOD overclocked version, to use as base before trying 1 above
5, Although this has been asked before, how can we repartion the ex SDCard successfully on 301.
Unfortunately I cant post on the developer threads, but I do assure you I have read all of them - approx 750 threads including androidiani.
Many thanks and kind regards to all, and moreso to those who can clarify the above!!!!
:highfive:
To add more to the only debate on this issue, Q_ and A.
Ok We have around 201309 10.1 or 10.2 around the same date the CM version , there is a KitKat release and AOKP.
Saw the thread with a lot of replies concerning the CM 10.1 release and " who likes it". B.T. working, HDMI issues etc etc.
However , given that many , posters seemed to appreciate the 10.1 version , nearly all could not post on the developer thread due to min 10 posting restriction.
So here I am again, asking , which of the original ROMĀ“s, and new ICS, JB or KK versions are the most appropriate for this Mediapad 301 as far as anyone has experience.
The last entry on After_Silence V 10.1 General thread, seems to suggest that CM10.1 201309 is probably the best bet so far, however the KitKat or CM10.2 OR Evervolv, may have evolved since then, anyone any ideas.
Furthermore , given that CM10.1 offers /data/media does this mean I can actually use my Ext. sdcard, instead of filling my measly 5GB sdcard
Any help most appreciated, including any other tips on other versions specific to the Mediapad 301xxx

What are the needed requirements for porting a ROM to Huawei Honor 7?

Hello Everyone!
Please, what are the requirements for porting a certain ROM to (Huawei Honor 7)?
I am really interested in trying to port a certain ROM to this device. Although i am not an Android Developer but rather a web programmer, still i would like to try to port it and hopefully learn along the way.
Other Related Questions:
Q1). Taking this device into consideration (Huawei Honor 7 - PLK-L01), what ROMs are the easiest and most suitable to be ported to it? (e.g. CyanogenMod, AOKP, ParanoidAndroid, OmniROM, or MIUI...etc).
Q2). I read a guide on this forum teaching an easy method for porting. Since the post is old though, i have a feeling that the method is pretty much outdated or simply does not work for Honor 7. You can find this guide at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908008
If someone can check it up and see if it is still a valid method, i would surely like to try it on Honor 7 and share any good results with everyone on here.
In case it is a valid method, then which would be the most suitable "Port ROM" candidate to be chosen for this device (Huawei Honor 7 - PLK-L01)?
Q3). What are the required skills needed to port a certain ROM to Honor 7?
I am just a web developer (HTML5/CSS3, PHP, MySQL, JS) with no skills in C/C++, Java or Android (apart from those courses that i have got during the college years).
Thanks for reading my questions! Any comments, answers or suggestions will always be appreciated.

[P769][UTILITIES][COLLECTION] All ROMs and important tools for your phone !

Hi guys !
As I'm still using my P769, and more and more old ROMs link are now dying (expiring), I find it very difficult to download ROM and tools for my phone.
So after spending a long time downloading all the currently still available ROMs and utilities, I've collected many ROMs and tools that you'll need if your old phone ever gone wrong and can't get support anywhere due to dead link.
I'm now reuploading all of it for longer storage time. Just in case someone might want to reuse the old phone for some other purposes.
Some ROMs and tools included :
AntonX's cm11 ROMS (most stable ROM I've used so far)
EdwinMoq CM12.1
EdwinMoq CM13.0
NAMELESS KITKAT 4.4.4
Bobz CWM Recovery Image (4.4.2)
TWRP 3.0.2.0
dsixda's Android Kitchen (Windows Version)
Phone's Driver, Source,...
(and many more).
[P769][ROMS and tools collection] Download Here (Update 24/11/2018) !
P/s : If anyone has some other ROMs or Tools for P769 that aren't here, feel free to send them to me and I'll add to the collection.
All credits go to their (ROMs and tools) respective owner. I do not own any thing/file etc. I just merely reuploaded it to different mirror.
If you're the owner of any file(s) here and don't like it being mirrored, please send me a PM for removal.
This is my first post, although I've read the rules thoroughly before posting, some might have slipped through. So if my post goes against the rules, please kindly let me know.
Thank you this is awesome!
