Hi everyone.
Does anyone know if there is a way to tell if a nabi2 is a gen2 or gen3 without actually opening it up?
Basically, according to digitizer sellers, the screen connector is slightly different. So I have bought a factory-return nabi2 to replace my sons cracked screen one. The question is, do I reinstall everything, root etc and take ages but have fully new tablet? Or can I keep existing tablet and simply swap screens?
I know opening will determine, but its not an easy process first-time and tends to mark the case so I would rather not if I can help it.
So sorry to ramble on, but does anyone know if there is a difference between gen2 and gen3 externally? Maybe serial number, or slight different graphic, logo etc?
If anyone knows please I would appreciate it.
Thank you for your time people.

Hello,
I am thinking about building an audio dock for the Galaxy S2 from scratch.
I only want it to load the Galaxy S2 and be able to play music from the MicroUSB, using an inbuilt speaker.
What I want to know:
-Would this speaker be okay? http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/710674/5-CM-BREITBANDLAUTSPRECHER-FRWS-5SC-8OHM/1312030&ref=list
- How do I have to manipulate the MicroUSB cable to force audio output via MicroUSB? (Because I never did something like that before, I'll need precise information about what to to and which components (resistors) to use for that.) What I mean is, which resistance do I have to change and how?
- Is there any chance to brick/damage the phone when doing something wrong?
I have to mention that I never ever in my life have built something electric more than in school for some years.
I don't know much about electrical stuff and I never would attempt something if there would be higher voltages or danger involved.
But if the only thing that could happen is a non-working speakerand a destroyed cable, then I definitely have to try it...
Don't get me wrong: I dare to do this and to get it working! But if there is the danger of f**king up my phone, I won't.
Nonetheless, I would want to know the details, just out of pure interest!
Building a case and installing all those components, making it look nice etc. won't be a problem for me, but with the wiring I really do need help!
If anyone would be so kind to help me with that, I would be very thankful.
Please also know, that english is not my native language.
Regards, Bonscha
Now, I know this is not the ideal place to post this kind of issue. I have already posted a thread on the Yarvik Support Forum, but I have also read (on their and on this forum) that their support can be a bit... unsupportive. So I would like to repost the thread I have created there, here.
Dear Yarvik Support Team,
My sister and I have quite recently each bought a Yarvik Xenta TAB10-201 tablet. My sister purchased it first, and I, being the forever criticist I am, followed a week later.
In general I am impressed with the tablet. It provides good quality for its price, and while it obviously cannot be compared to 'main brand tablets', it still is a very good tablet.
However, there have been a few things that bother me about the tablet and prevent me from really enjoying it, and I wonder if you could be able to help me.
The tablet sometimes has the issue that it does not register the touch inputs correctly. I mainly notice this while browsing the web (using Chrome & Stock webbrowser);
it can be very hard to open / close tabs, and when I am scrolling the tablet often opens links that I wanted to scroll past. It then can also be hard to open the links I did want to open.
Now, the problem described above is not that big of an issue. It can be an annoyance and I would like to see it fixed, though. The bigger problem is that when I hook up my tablet to the provided charger, and I want to browse a few webpages and / or want to play a game on the tablet, it does all kind of 'phantom touches'. What I mean by that it is that while I do not press on that particular area (or do not even press at all), the tablet still seems to think I have touched that particular area and thus unwantedly launches an app, or unwantedly closes a webpage I was still browsing. It even gets so bad that when I try to unlock the tablet while charging it jumps to the camera app unlock and takes a bunch of pictures. Now, the weird thing about this is that it only happens on my tablet; my sister's tablet (as I mentioned earlier, exactly the same) does not have this problem with either her or my charger. My tablet does have it no matter which charger is used.
I have already looked for a solution on your forums, but have not found a sufficient solution. Some people did provide a solution in the form of 1. Reflashing my firmware, or 2. Installing a custom ROM. I would like to know which solution you can provide for me. It could also be that the touchscreen is simply damaged; I would then like to send in my tablet for repairs.
If any of you would be able to help me, or have had a similar issue (and preferably fixed it), that would be great. Thanks in advance!
Guys, first of all great forum, excellect tools (like entons rootkit for A71 acer tablet) and splendid advices on many problems. I´m confident to find one for my current problem. If this is the wrong thread, please excuse but I haven´t found one for the Acer A71, so I went to the Android-Thread.
Okay, here´s what happened: I have a rooted (Entons rootkit) A71. Worked perfect for month now. Yesterday I unplugges it after charging. When I switched it on, the screen showed inverted colours. When I try to look at a picture or to watch a video, everything is inerted, too. . I allready unrooted it, made a factory reset, wiped the cache. I have digged into tons of threads in different forums. All that I have found was, that there is a switch you can find in accessability for changing from inverted to normal and back. But this one I do not find on my tablet. I ´m desperate now since I use my tablet for reading (which is still possible), for typing (which is no longer possible) and for videos (which is not longer possible). What to do now?
Datas: Acer iconia B1-A71, Android 4.1.2, Build Acer_AV051_B1-A71_1.25800_WW_GEN1, Image:Acer_AV051_B1-A71_RV05RC05_WW_GEN1, Image-P/N: FM.NLCAO.01Y, Kernel 3.4.0
Would be greatful for any answer.
Thanks a lot in advance.
I have just received this same tablet to repair with the same problem.
Mine would seem to have a damaged screen as its even inverted when in Recovery mode.
Maybe this is the same with you?
A quick google shows a handful of people with the same problem.
The device has some really poor design with the ribbon that connects the screen as some components rest against the quite flexible back cover.
So either one of these tiny components has been damaged or the device dropped and the screen has actually cracked along one of the edges.
What a pity the "invert colors" option is not enabled in the settings app as manually inverted images display fine.
If this was a high end device i'd unlock it and install a custom ROM and have a look into enabling colour inversion somehow but alas i'm not sure this little sucker is worth my time especially as the battery is on its way out now too.
Good Luck.
[EDIT] SOLUTION; it would seem my hunch regarding the crap placement of components on the screens ribbon cable was accurate.
Just found this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56422766&postcount=220
tried the soldering solution:

(feel free to do a better job than i did haha)
It works!
Normskilight thank you very much. It works perfectly!!. I could fix my tablet. For my it was a kind of miracle, jaja.
Thank you again!
Hello,
I'm new to the rooting world and I am unaware of how to root my Fossil Q Marshal Gen 2... I use an iPhone so im planning to use android studio on my Mac for the same. Pls help me. Thanks.
In terms of actually rooting it, I'm afraid I can't help. However, I have a Fossil Gen 3 Marshall and wanted to do something similar, but my intent was to flash AsteroidOS. The response on here seems to be that it couldn't be done (certainly the flashing the new OS) due to the lack of ports. However, some long and intensive googling suggested that yours (and I suspect mine) does indeed have a data port, its just covered and internal. I have seen the four (actually, I think five) pins that I believe to be the data port, which might facilitate the flashing a new OS.
This is something I intend to keep looking into until I can find a way to keep Google from my devices!

Yeah popping the watch open and making a pin connector to touch the board with, will allow you access to Fastboot Mode. This has been proven on another Fossil Watch missing the USB Port. And Since I'm guessing most of Fossil's models remain the same with different aesthetic tweaks, most everything should be the same.
We just have to make a Fastboot Connector and then pop the watch open to access USB. I bet you they left most of the bootloaders unlocked that didn't have physical access to fastboot mode. I know my Smartwatch actually has all of its log set to ENG. So there is actually a lot of data to sift through in recovery mode logs and everything. But we can't access the data in user mode. But it is there if we can make the pin connector.
Also interested in this if. Will be watching for answers because I would love to remove sone bloat and mae my waych a little snappier in performance.
Aloha Everyone!
My S9+ screen has broken yet I can tell it's still functioning as my alarms keep going off etc and when I plug into my PC it registers the phone and should be authorized on this pc.
However since I can't use the screen I can't change the debug settings or put it into "file transfer mode".
I see Dr Fone, Droidkit, Phone Rescue etc. but they all seem suspect and suspiciously all want 35$. I don't mind paying if they work however they all seem to require I put it into debugging which once again I can't do with my broken screen.
Is there any open source solution to this? I would like the pictures on the internal SD of course but I need a recording I made with voice record for a meeting I have tonight. This is my priority and I am currently at work and don't have the time to scour forums and all the regular things I would do.
Any help is appreciated! I don't think this post is breaking any rules and if it is I'm sorry. The S9+ mention is specific but only because I need to explain the generation of the phone as it's older.
I know this is an old phone and I pray someone sees this, infinite mahalos for any suggestions or replies in advance!
You Rock!
Is your screen responsive to touch (Even if you can’t see what you are touching)?
I saw you said broken, do you mean physically? Can you see anything on the screen?
Could you use scrcpy?
It has a few small cracks that water got into and fried the screen I believe.
My alarms going off at the proper times, if I touch the buttons it will vibrate in the ways it should etc.
It doesn't seem to be responding to touch however and it is black as in off, no color or light.
I am looking into scrcpy! Thanks, if anyone has any other suggestions that would be much appreciated!
Spcry won't work because I am not in debug mode, or rather never authorized it while I had it unlike all my previous phones. I got bored of homebrew apps and didn't bother doing it on this one.
Not sure there is anything you can do. No PC programs can control, no Bluetooth mice, no nothing.
Damn, you would think there would be a program at this point to bypass everything and grab your files.
Thanks for your help everyone!
If there was, I would be patched right away, and whoever reported it would get thousands of dollars for the report.
im pretty sure you can use a usb c hub with hdmi and usb to plug in a mouse and your phone to a tv
This is late, but questions do NOT belong in the Development section. Also, this post is for a S9+, not an S9.
Thread moved to S9+ Questions and Answers.
