Restoring Nuvision tablet stuck in boot loop. Can't find firmware.
I have:
My mom's NuVision TM800A510L (similar to Acer Iconia A1-840) stuck in boot loop.
I can get it into fastboot mode, and recovery mode waiting for ADB sideload.
ADB and fastboot recognize the connected device, but commands are ignored by the tablet.
I'm a novice, having once stumbled through a cyanogenmod flash.
Chromebook running Ubuntu, with Android SDK seemingly properly installed.
Goal:
To restore the factory OS, vanilla Android, or an alternate ROM. Anything to get it running.
I've tried:
Wiping cache, factory reset.
Can't find factory or custom rom anywhere. Customer service refused to provide it.
Following tutorials to bake a custom rom. They all seem to require a system for the tablet to start from. Creating one from scratch is over my head, unless there is a simple step-by-step somewhere.
Pulling partitions from tablet (failed command)
Pushing / flashing / SD boot of ROM for the Acer version of the tablet (format not recognized)
Does anyone happen to have the update.zip for this Nuvision device I can simply sideload? Or anything else I can try?
Specs from site's NuVision manual:

Nope, I never got it working. Mom contacted the manufacturer and they did arrange a return & replacement, so that might be an option for you.
You can try flashing its stock rom with sp tools..download the rom from needrom.com and pm me for further instructions

needrom does not have the rom for this model.
I have the same problem. I'm trying to use the ADB to make a ROM from what is on the tablet, but so far the only thing I can get to work ADB wise is the sideload, and that does me no good without a ROM

Hi all!
I've been trying to fix my Asus fonepad K012 (FE170CG) all morning. I derped trying to root it and now I require to flash it back to a stock firmware supplied by Asus. Thus far I have been able to get my hands on the original firmware however I have not been able to find an effective tutorial how to flash it. I know I am posting in the wrong sub forum, however after 6 hours I am pretty much at loss here ... Can anyone help me, please?

I have the same problem. I tried to flash the stock firmware but the problem remains. My advice is not to flash stock firmware! But if the Demo error pops up very frequently, I can help you flash the stock firmware.
Good luck!

To shed some light on what happened ...
I had updated the fonepad to 4.4 kitkat. Afterwards I used rootzenfone 1.4.6 to root it, it failed and it it started acting like I described above.
For days I looked into what I could do and how to resolve it ... Finally I found the solution to my problem.
1. Downgrade the fonepad 7 K012 back to Jelly Bean 4.3. (You can do this by putting the 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware on the root of your mini SD card, label it k012_sdupdate.zip, switch off the fonepad, boot using the power + volume up combination to get into droidboot, select SD update and let it do it's thing.
2. Once it's completed the fonepad will be downgraded to 4.3, however this isn't the end of it, the asus live demo problem still persists, so you must use rootzenfone 1.4.2 or 1.4.4 to complete the rooting process in order to get rid of it once and for all.
3. For me? It was successful and as I rebooted it got stuck in bootloop. So then I flashed the firmware utilizing ADB's fastboot with the following commands:
fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash splashscreen splashscreen.img
4. Rebooted and my troubles were over. However I really wanted to root it ... So I went total nerdmode on xda and finally found a way to root it.

Hello guys,
I have a problem with my OnePlus X, and it would be lovely if I could get some help or advice from you guys.
> To provide some slight background, I purchased this off of eBay to complete my OnePlus collection. Most listings were above what OnePlus originally sold the phone for, but I found one for $125 in good condition by a seller with a good rating. It was advertised as soft-bricked, with Fastboot in working order. I thought "no problem, I'll just reflash it and be on my merry way."
Now onto the issue. I received it, charged it up, and attempted flashing the official recovery provided by OnePlus, but something is not working. I've been tinkering with Android for a number of years now, so I troubleshooted as much as I could, but to no avail.
1. Starting with device unplugged and powered off, boot into fastboot
2. Plugged into the computer, and ran `fastboot devices` to ensure it's recognized. After that, I flashed the recovery.img that was on my desktop with `fastboot flash recovery recovery.img` (yes I was in the correct directory). It looked successful. Picture of cmd response text at the following imgur album: /a/25DEQ (sorry I cannot post full links yet, had to create a new xda profile, forgot my old one :/
3. Unplugged the phone, powered off, Volume Down + Power to attempt boot into recovery. Failure. It just turns on with the 1+ logo, and quickly flashes the 'android' logo at the bottom. It stays like this until I manually power off.
I'm a bit stumped I have to admit. I would greatly appreciate any input you folks have. Thank you.

Hi! Thank you for your reply
I posted this same question on the /r/oneplus subreddit, and received a quick and helpful walkthrough. Turns out part of the problem was that the micro-usb port on the phone itself is a bit unreliable. I haven't investigated too deeply, but it took a while to find a position for the wire to maintain a stable connection. I suspect this may be why the device was bricked in the first place (disconnect when flashing rom/kernel/etc.)
Anyways, for some reason flashing the stock recovery to the phone was just not working. The guy on reddit recommended trying TWRP, and that worked immediately. However, at that point, I had no idea what the history of the phone was or what OS was on it before, what firmware it had. I tried installing the official CM13 and then Sultan's CM13 with no luck. What *did* work was Oxygen OS 2.2.6.
At this point I'm stuck yet again though... The Marshmallow OTA (3.1.3) in the OS shows as available for download, but when I try to install the download only gets to 22% and then stops. Flashing the 3.1.3 OTA.zip available on OnePlus' support site doesn't work in TWRP, and when I try to flash stock recovery, it doesn't work.. don't know what else to try.

Root your device using twrp or kingoroot method then install flashify and try to flash stock recovery using flashify. .. Tht may work.
Flashing 3.1.3 via official twrp ll not work... Cos ur bootloader version, U can do it only with stock recovery or u need to edit meta data file. Or u can flash stock recovery img file by twrp

Hi OP, sorry for joining late to the party
So the thing is the OnePlus X is at opposites now since the official MM release on 29th September. The thing is if you are running the old bootloader (OxygenOS 2.x.x) or any ROM based on it, then the New TWRP will not boot, neither will the Stock Recovery that is hosted on the OnePlus download section for the X, which is where i assume you download the stock recovery from, right ? Also note that the official recovery hosted on the TWRP website is also yet to be updated, we're working on that.
So you are on the old Bootloader. Simple stuff. I have posted my guide a lot of time around the forums, its gained a lot of merit. You could follow it for your update process. I'll leave a link below. In case you wanna verify that the old bootloader is causing the issue my Index Thread pinned in the general section has a link for the Stock recovery for Old bootloader, try flashing that via fastboot, if it successfully boots then you're set.
Comprehensive guide to Update to Marshmallow Bootloader
The above guide is centered to the thread i have posted it on but the process is 99% the same. In the end, you could just stay with Oxygen OS 3.1.3, or flash any custom ROM based on the new Bootloader.
Now regarding your query about editing the META of the ROM, well Yes to an extent it IS risky if you ain't careful because my guide guides you to delete the one single line that removes the device check, so as long as you use the modified zip on OnePlus X only, there will be no issues.

So I recently bought myself a Nextbook Ares 11A (you can get look at it here: http://www.nextbookusa.com/productdetail.php?product_id=33
For the life of me, I can't figure out how to root it at all. Anyone have an idea how to root it. I have tried King and Kingo root, both PC versions. Vroot/iroot, framaroot apk, and some others that i kinda forgot.
One of the first things I did to this tablet was upgrading its android version to 6.0.1
I think one of the main exploits to use for this would be the firmware update
-quick note. If your having problems with this tablet rebooting by itself re download the android 6.0.1 firmware update and install it again.
Firmware update download: https://goo.gl/Cev80L
Same here. Can't root it. Awesome tablet for the price just $197 for a 11 inch tablet running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Here are my specs. Hope e can find a root soon. Boring without root access. No cool apps without have root.

After installing the correct adb/fastboot drivers along with the intel chip usb drivers, i was able to unlock/flash boot.img and bootloader. All i need now is a working twrp_recovery image to finish rooting this tablet and remove encryption. If anyone has a working twrp recovery or knows how to make one based off the rom, then please post it. I would love to have this tablet rooted and non encrypted.

tim i am sorry but i am unable to give a stock recovery seeing as i tried to flash other recovery images. however i would be glad t post the update file but i can't post links yet. The update file is in the very first post, and you have to unzip it onto the sd card to get the tablet to notice it.
If you are familiar with rooting android then perhaps you could provide the stock recovery image so that someone with more programming knowledge can actually make a cwm or twrp recovery from it. The boot.img file is correct as well, which happens to be inside the update file. I know this because i almost bricked my tablet XD.

Have you been able to root this tablet with the ares 8 files? If so then how did you get the recovery.img to work and what about the encryption files? I ask because the ares 8 has the same cpu but it is android 6.0.1 rom versus android 5.0/5.1.

heres the deal i downloaded the update on the first page and always got stuck at like 35 percent tried to flash the recovery from the 11rootkit it didnt work tried from the ares 8 and just get an error screen ive got the tablet unlocked fully and can flash anything in fastboot but no file at all with bring it back ive tried the firmware files and there not in the right format for fastboot the tablet is bricked but can still get into fastboot but no working recovery

I'm very interested in this endeavor. I have a Ares 11A as well but I'm in desperate need of a stock ROM as mine got trashed by the Marshmallow update. As a result I had to install Win 10 on the device temporarily, but i would like to get it back to the original stock ROM and try again. If that fails, then I'm going to have to build an entirely new ROM (never done this before) based on Android-x86 Marshmallow.
What's really sad is that support for this device is sorely lacking from the vendor(Efun/Yifang). They don't even post a stock ROM on their website (nextbookusa.com) for this device. However, this device is similar to some of the Chinese tablets posted on techtablets.com so I MAY be able to find a stock ROM / drivers there.

Basically, I deleted the Android partitions and reallocated the space a a Windows partition. I got into the device UEFI boot manager by pressing the power + Vol down buttons, then releasing the power button when the Nextbook logo appears, then release the Vol down button. It's a little tricky to get into it but it can be done. Before you attempt to do so you have to get the device into fastboot mode (power+vol up buttons) and unlock the bootloader first. Be advised though that finding Windows 10 drivers will be VERY difficult! It's not for the faint of heart! I went to the techtablets.com website to find the drivers as they specialize in supporting Chinese-made tablets.
As I've stated earlier this is a temp solution. When all is said and done, this will become a dual-boot or multi-boot tablet
this is the only thing i can find but cant get it right http://www.nextbookusa.com/_gendownloads/NX16A11264/update.zip
I suspect i have foolishly tried to root my Alcatel A2 xl, as I''ve never done it before and it looks unconventional, and it's now stuck in boot loop. I can hold volume up and power and get to select boot mode, but recovery freezes the screen and selecting normal triggers the boot loop. Fastboot works still.
It was all working fine, I'd set up adb and a couple drivers, then followed some guide here to install Clockwork Recovery by flashing it via adb. I did that, and can't do anything sense - i read somewhere else i should have wiped data first, could this have been it?
Any help on how to recover enormously appreciated. At this point i've tried the official Alcatel tool to reset a stock rom and it can't detect the phone correctly, and that's it. I dont want to go trying to flash another recovery or custom ROM on yet as im uncertain what went wrong.
Also just want to say thanks in advance, and thanks for the whole site, it's the only reliable looking place i could find for android advice , i mean im sure you know that.

Hi there,
I am not sure if this will work or not as ALCATEL is famous for making cheap smartphones however the number of ROMS out there are slim, I was wondering do you have the stock rom with you and are you able to connect your phone to your computer and can ADB detect it.
If your still able to boot into recovery you can uninstall root by wiping its memory completely.
And if your phone is able to get recognised by ADB I suggest you to reinstall the whole ROM
I have found a website which might help you to get the ROM
https://www.needrom.com/category/alcatel/
Hey thanks thanks. I can't boot into recovery frustratingly, but it can be recognised by adb.
I dont have a stock rom though so thanks for website - can you point me to the right ROM? There doesn't seem to be anything specific to the A2 XL model, but it has a MT8321 processor so does that mean any ROM for that would work? NEEDROM /tablet_captiva_pad_10_3g_plus_mt8321/
or the A2 XL also seems to have exactly the same processor as the Pixi 4, and both come with the 8050D tag-on which i have no idea what means. So would that be a better shout? NEEDROM /rom-stock-pixi-4-7-alcatel-9003a-telcel/

I'm trying to flash the most current/last official ROM from the ASUS website. I'm using TWRP. I currently have a custom Android 7.1 ROM installed.
I wiped the table with TWRP and am trying to install the ASUS ROM. It looks like it's working and then I get a red error message that says something about failing with ERROR: 7.
Any suggestions?
Sorry to raise this old topic but ...
This is the precisely the issue I'm having now. It appears the official ASUS ROM fails to install on a modified (or rooted?) tablet.
What I've been experimenting with instead is the information in this thread.
It looks promising, but I'm having a bit of trouble finding some of the files it mentions as the post is rather old, and some of the things it references don't appear to be hosted.
Give it a try, and see if you get further than I did (and let me know if you do get it work, how you did it!).
Cheers, and good luck.

[Q] TF201 cannot go into recovery and cannot boot, only in fastboot
Hello xda people, I tried to flash my TF201 with stock 4.1.1 ROM and 10.4.2.18 bootloader and I think I messed up the bootloader because now it can only go into USB mode - RCK, Wipe Data and Android all return "unrecoverable bootloader error"...

Thank you for this, but I have tried these. I keep hitting the same obstacles, the biggest one being that the files needed for these solutions are no longer available in many cases.
