Sony Experia Z2 upgrade from 5.0.2 to 5.1.1 - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi There
I am from Bangladesh & seeking your expert help
My friend gift me a Sony Experia Z2 phone (D6503).
It was a unlocked USA Carrier phone.
Software version is showing 5.0.2 & when i check for update, it says "your device is up to date"
Why ?
How do i understand, my phone is rooted or not?
If rooted, any problem/issue?
Shall I wait for automatic update ? or I have to root?
Kind Regards
Timothy

If you are rooted you should have some sort of superuser app installed , you can also verify root with an app from the playstore called root check.
However if you would like to update to the latest 5.1.1 search the forum and you are bound to find an FTF file for your region. Use flashtool and flash it ...done

You may get "your device is up to date" because 5.1.1 may not be out for your region yet. If you want to upgrade you just need to flash ftf file. No root is needed to that.

Help Upgrading CLARO Puerto Xperia 10a from 1.6 to the most recent version.

Hi everyone
My name is Jose and I'm from Puerto Rico. I'm newbie in Android and need some help. I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10a with Android 1.6 and my phone carrier is CLARO Puerto Rico. My question is if somebody could successfully upgrade this phone from version 1.6 to the most recent version available and want to share his knowledge with me. I will appreciate that.
Regards
José Pabón
Try checking out This thread first. That has a lot of information about everything you need to know. Basically, first download the flash tool so you can easily root and install xrecovery.
If you have more questions regarding more specific steps afterwards, let us know.

Help with upgrade
Sony is releasing Gingerbread for the X10 late June or early July. You have to debrand your phone by going to DaVinci Team for $15, and them when the upgrade is available use PC companion.

Problem rooting Xperia X10 android 1.6
First of all i want to thank you for all your responses. Following the instructions in the forum, i downloaded the latest version of Flashtool available (0.6.7.0). After installed in my windows 7 (32 bits) notebook, i run the application and connect the phone. The software recognize the unit and the android version without problems. So i decide and press the root option (The unlocked padlock) and it begin to work. At the end of the process an error message appeared indicating that it can install the busybox software and its stop. The phone is working, but nothing appeared regarding if it root the unit (I think that that no), so when i ran the flashtool utility again, at this time the unlocked padlock is not available. Can anybody help me with that i will appreciate so much.

[ITA] MM update E2333

HI everybody. I live in Italy, I have the 16GB variant of Xperia M4 Aqua (E2333) bought from Amazon.fr, SIM free.
Now I'm stuck with lollipop.
Last week was released the official MM update both in France (16GB variants) both in Italy (8GB) variants (16GB variants are not sold in Italy).
I received an email with the notification of the new software release, but if I check into settings/devicesinfo/softwareupdate no ota available.
If I connect my phone to Pc, Xperia companion says "up to date", also if I check via IMEI it says i have the latest software available.
I updated my phone several times since I bought it, minor updates, I received them almost instantly after the official rollout.
It seems strange to me. Anyone else facing this problem?
Hi, my phone behaves the same (dual-sim 16GB). I'm in Czech Republic and have bought it in French e-shop. I've heard, that it won't be released at once for all the users. So maybe it's still yet to come.
Same here.
Live in Belgium.
Bought E2333 through expansys.fr.
Still no update, not OTA, not through companion on windows
> 1,5GB free (I saw somewhere you need at least 500mb free storage)
Battery mostly > 80% (thought that some updates don't show up on low battery).
So I try to keep my xperia in optimal status to receive the update...
I've also noticed that all articles I've seen about the upgrade mention version 26.3.A.0.131, but for E2333 we need 26.3.B.0.131.
I wanted to post a link, but the forum rules don't let me until I have 10 posts. However open source archives are available for download on sony developer world. In description there is:
Open source download for Xperia M4 Aqua (E2303, E2353, E2306); software version 26.3.A.0.131. And Xperia M4 Aqua Dual (E2333, E2363, E2312); software version 26.3.B.0.131.
Hi im from Macedonia and i have this problem to i contacted sony support and they sad the update will arrrive for evry device at diffrent time it doesent depend on the contry or city that you live in they sad they are doing a roll out so it will arive for our phones as we get on row.
Thanks guys... Glad to see that I am not the only one facing this "problem"... So we'll have to wait and hope it comes quickly
I just flashed this ftf and it working fine for me, cant wait for ota
OK, Anybody got the update ?
I have the same device without Android M till now.

Still no Marshmallow update

Hi. I'm from Serbia and there's still no marshmallow update for me, I have the 8gb model, but I can see that other people from my country got the update somehow.
Xperia Companion says that my device is up to date.
What should I do?
Somebody please help!!
Note: Before someone says that I probably don't have enough free space on my device for the update, I have 2gb free.

can we root H960A?

hi everybody
I wanna buy V10. In our country we have H960A model
Can I root this model?
And which country is that and what H960A are sold there? If it is France or a French H960A: those can't be rooted. If you country is UAE or you buy a UAE H960A there might be a possibility to root it by flashing the European V20 firmware.
European H960A can be rooted after flashing a V20 firmware (latest is V20c)

I'm in Iran and we have middle east model here
so If I flash European H960A V20c,can I root?
I have LG V10 H960A, which appears to be European Version (no simlock). I rooted the phone running MM. Here are the steps:
- Request Bootloader Unlock key file from LG and unlock the bootloader by entering fastboot mode. Please be aware that your phone will be COMPLETELY WIPED.
- Install TWRP Unofficial version on this forum
- Install SuperSu right after
The detail steps and files please search in XDA.
However, I found no benefit of being root, an annoying message about phone security will appear every time the phone boots. In addition, rooted phone cannot use some direct payment softwares. There are not much bloatwares on the original firmwares, and you can disable them.
If you want to unroot and relock the bootloader, it is possible. The phone will be COMPLETELY WIPED again. And it will probably enter a bootloop mode (boot fails to verification, XXX missing). However, KDZ again the same version of Android before unlock will solve the problem.
The LG Backup function works very well, so Titanium backup makes less sense. Phone runs more stable without root.
