Hi friends,
I'm new at this forum.
Let me tell my problem.
For the last two days i have a slow 3g connection on my HTC one X+.
There is no slowness when i'm using wi-fi.
I tested 3g connection with speedtest app and i saw only upload speed is too slow (Download speed is around 12 Mbps and upload speed is 0.00 Mbps)
I called my gsm operator and they said it is not related with them.
Did you encounter such a problem?
Or do you have any ideas about it?
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know what the Radio Rom is for the T-Mobile MDA Vario II.
Especially the dutch one.
Since unlocking I'm experiencing speed problems on UMTS / HSDPA....
Any other suggestions are very welcome.
Cheers!
Hoi
I'm using the latest 1.20.31.10 radio ROM from the Wiki. Works perfectly on my dutch Vario II. No problems with the phone functions, and i just did a speedtest on Web n' Walk: 427kbit/s.
So i think its reccommendable. No problems here with the fast battery drainage some people are experiencing.
Problem solved, there was a problem at a HSDPA antenna.....
I am using the patched radio on my Dutch VArio II, the 1.13
No problems sofar, D/L speed is aroung 560 Kbps on 3G.
BTW am I not supposed to get faster speeds ?? I mean I have no Web&Walk so my connection is not capped to 64 Kbps.
Or do you need a HSDPA subscription in order to use the high speed ?

Nope, that is because you share the bandwith on an antenna. I have had speeds up to 810 Kbps but normal for me would be 410Kbps.....
The weird part is that they aren't capping speeds at all. I have the standard 9.50 euro Web 'n walk subscription that is supposed to be capped at 64kbps, but i have the same speeds hellejoep reaches, sometimes up to 800kbps and never below 400kbps when on 3G. Nothing wrong with that.
ionide!
What is your location? And how did you subscribe to Web&Walk: in the T-Mobile Store or by calling the customer service?
Utrecht, but that doesn't matter, i have high speeds all over the country. I renewed my subscription in a store. I'm not the only one who had this "problem", lots of people with the 9.50 subscription report high speeds. Maybe they don't cap HSDPA yet?
Thanx for the info... I need to go get it, the problem is that I can do it only from the 1st of December (don't ask)
Hi guys, I've tried searching, but couldn't really find an answer, so decided to post here. I tried running mobilespeedtest.com on my leo without wifi connection.. The results was 138kbps.. Is this normal? I ran this test with my dad's iphone 4 side by side, his was like 400+kbps!!! I'm using opera 9.7.. Is there any way that we can improve the connection speed?? Radio maybe?? Need your input guys... thanks a million... I'm living in Singapore by the way, and when I ran the test, the "H" logo was there so I guess it's on a hsdpa network? Gosh.. I'm lost... Oh ya, I was running the 100kb test..
nobody at all???
Does anyone else on Tmo/Orange Uk have issues with 3G speeds? Mine are much slower than on the SGS and I can't figure out why.... I'm starting to worry if my phone has a fault ....
anyone had issues?
thanks!!
Dont think it's your phones fault. I get up to 4mbps everytime i take a test, and i got only 2mbps with my desire so, yeh this phone rocks.

just 3G speeds? or with 'H' aswell? download 'speedtest' from android market(free), if your download speed hovers around 356-357kbs, then I would say your download speed is capped.I'm with t-mobile, and mine was. I had to phone and get through to their techy dept and get them to enable 'Hspda'

http://blog.ruggedandmobile.com/2010/01/26/a-guide-on-the-difference-between-gprs-edge-3g-and-hsdpa/
G - this stands for GPRS, and is the slowest data transfer method (approx 32 - 48 Kbps)
3G - This is the next level available on T-Mobile, and is around 10 times faster (384 Kbps)
H - stands for High Speed Downlink Packet Access, and is essentially 3.5G. In theory, TM's network
can transfer at 7.2Mbps, but real world tests tend to average out at around 2 Mbps, still significantly
faster than 3G
There is also HSDPA+(H+) which is even faster.
Hope this helps explain

Nice details, thanks bud! i guess my desire wasn't capable of doing 4mbps, it only got upto 2 while sgs2 gets upto 4mbps which is awesome
Hi All,
I have the Speedtest.net app on my SGSII and have run some speed tests and am getting some results that I find weird.
Yesterday I tested my network speed from my home (small basement suite apartment if that matters) and the results were as follows...
Network HSPA Download -0kbps, Upload -0kbps, Ping -1ms at 8:12PM
Network HSPA Download 247kbps, Upload 15kbps, Ping 1172ms at 8:14PM
Network WiFi Download 11401kbps, Upload 505kbps, Ping 47ms at 8:26PM
Today
Network UMTS Download 2269kbps, Upload 664kbps, Ping 185ms at 10:07am
I know the WiFi ones will be different but can anyone tell me why my HSPA ones from yesterday are SO LOW and if my UMTS (3G) one from today is atleast in the normal range?
I am confused...
Thanks,
One test isn't enough. Maybe the network/cell tower was saturated or had a problem, preventing full speed in your HSPA test.
The 0/0/-1 are Speedtest's bug.

Thank You for the info. Can you explain to me... Is UMTS 3G and HSPA is 3G+? Is that correct?
Today at work I ran a couple more tests and my UMTS Results were fluctuating as well... (I diddnt have any tests that came back HSPA today so far) Anywhere between 863kbps download to 1390kbps download and 301kbps upload to 748kbps upload... Are these weird as well? How can I get a true test of my 3G and HSPA speeds?
they are just slower speeds, the network seems to be under heavy capacity in your area. the only way to get a better idea is to test in the middle of the night, at 1 am, when the network is nearly empty and wide open.

Thank You as well for your response. Can you tell me... IF my device was folr some reason running in 2G or "Edge" mode it would show that as the "Network Type" in the test like it says UMTS or HSPA? Is that correct?
Yes if your phone switches to edge you will see an E at the top of the screen and the setting menu will say edge. You were definitely on HSDPA though, just a slow network, cause edge is limited to 236 kbps. Your speeds were higher than that except for the one that goofed completely.
Anyone test their speeds using Internet Connection Sharing? I did a bandwidth test from the phone and got 8.9 Mbits download and 3.6 Mbits upload. Then I then did a test from my laptop and I got 3.5 Mbits upload but my download would not go above 0.6 Mbits. Anyone else noticed this problem?
This is not slow, hsdpa gives 7.2 Mbps speeds only so expected
Sent from my TITAN X310e using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

This phone is capable of 14.4 Mbps, not just 7.2 Mbps. My Carrier is capable of 21 Mbps. This was not the issue. The issue was getting over 8 Mbit/s download speeds on the Titan, but when using Internet Connection Sharing the speed would not be greater them 0.6 Mbit/s. This was tested right after the initial test. The upload speed was very similar though.
As is my understanding, you will never achieve the same speeds when using ICS.
When your phone is communicating with the internet, it is dealing with one lot of data being sent and one lot of data being returned.
But when connecting your computer via your phone, your phone has to take that data from your computer, then pass it on. So it is dealing with one lot of data to/from your computer, and another lot of data (the same data!) to/from the internet - So you are doubling the amount of work the phone does. Your phone only has the one radio chip for this data, so it has to alternate between all the incoming and outgoing data.
You get the same slow-down on home wifi networks if you use a wifi repeater.

I understand that it will be less, but to go from over 8 Mbits on the phone to 0.6 Mbits on my laptop is more then what one should expect as a penalty for connecting thru the phone.
Even with your example of using a wifi repeater the bandwidth is only halved, and that is because the link is using the same frequency band over both hops. In the case of the phone, Internet Connection Sharing is acting like a home router with the cell frequency side the equivalent of the wan port and the software is providing NAT to clients connected on the 2.4ghz wifi connection side so there is no penalty for using the same frequency band.
As I also stated the upload from the phone and the upload from my laptop are the same, around 3.5 Mbits. What I was asking is if other people have had this same discrepancy when using Internet Connection Sharing. Even if the results from just the phone were ignored, the fact that I only got 0.6 Mbits download vs 3.5 Mbits upload thru the phone tells me something is not working properly.
If anyone is seeing this discrepancy between upload and dowload speeds with Internet Connection Sharing let me know.

Have tried same SIM different phone? Different SIM same phone?
It could well be your provider!
