Pry-Fi has destroyed my wifi! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Unfortunately, on my stock, rooted Sprint Galaxy S5, this app completely destroyed my wifi. Probably because I used it wrong somehow...I have tried the fix posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49978258&postcount=102
several times, but my WiFi will not even so much as turn on. I'm sorry to ask this of you guys, but I am not sure what else to do besides flash another ROM. I'd rather it not come to that. If you could think of some way to troubleshoot this with me or if you know an alternate solution, I would be forever in your debt.
If I try to slide the wifi switch from "off" to "on" it just sits there grayed out for a bit then switches back to off.
Edit:
As an update, I just did a system restore and that did NOT fix the problem...a bit freaked out now.

[Q] Not sure what to do....

I am running Bionox 1.9 w/Jac's Kernel. I haven't changed anything that I'm aware of, but I noticed that when I was done charging the phone on my USB dock at work that when the screen timed out, the phone shut off. If i keep playing with the screen and keep it lit up so to speak, it stays on. If I hold the power button for about 10 seconds, it will come back on. I'm pretty sure this happened before I ran the GPS update from the market which came out earlier. I booted into recovery and wiped battery stats thinking that might help, but no luck. Can anyone help me?
Are you overclocked? If so you may need to turn down the maximum setting or turn up the minimum setting using set cpu. Also make sure that scaling is set to conservative.
I did change that, and it didn't seem to make a difference. I realized later that I had downloaded the GPS fix from the market, but like an idiot I was inside and it couldn't pick up any satellites. I tried later and kept getting an error message saying it had failed again. I went back to the market and removed it from the phone since I couldn't find it in ASTRO or anything like that. I eventually found the dead folder and deleted it. Problem solved so far. I'm now unsure of two things.....1: Why didn't the folder get deleted when I removed the APP? 2: Why didn't the GPS fix work? I tried searching with the exact words from the earlier posts, but it says that APP is not found. I haven't really been having big problems with GPS, except it shows me being adjacent to a highway, when I ACTUALLY on the highway. Other than that, it's been ok. Any other suggestions you guys may have? By the way, I hope I have this in the right forum, because I would still say I know way too little about these phones to tinker around without everyone here's support. I would hate to get flamed here.... See it way too much. But I see everyone's point.

[Q] Vibrant (Bricked) Not working-Reboot Loop

I have never posted here before though I troll and check out what is going on about my Vibrant often and have not seen this directly answered yet, so here goes.
I downloaded and installed the official froyo the other day from Kies Mini.
I have never attempted to even boot in recovery mode.
I have never attempted to root, rom or anything that you amazing people somehow figured out.
OK, so that should help get us somewhere to start.
I noticed today that my notification bar showed the signal as the 0/ (i don't know how to place that symbal correctly) as no signal. I let it go for a few minutes because sometimes Tmobile loses signal in my building. I noticed it outside on break and I tried to reboot. It rebooted but kept rebooting. I removed to battery and its still kept rebooting after letting it sit without the battery. I tried rebooting in recovery mode and deleting the cache memory (don't want to delete user info yet unless that is my only option to get fully reset) and its still rebooting.
Basically after I rebooted the first time, its runs slowly at the S, finally gets into the homescreen, shows signal (but none of my apps, no screen responses at all, just vibrates a few times while switching from no signal to signal) then reboots.
I am pretty much at a loss here. Would love any helps I can get.
Bump, please I don't mean to be annoying, but is this something I am going to have to revert to factory on? I saw someone else had a bricked phone after download and reboot constantly like me. Ugh, to wait so long for Tmo and now this??
The BEST thing to do, if you havent modded, or rooted is to take it to yor local t-mobile store if you have one. If not, call customer support and have them send a replacement.

[Q] Urgent: suddenly lost my phone signal

Hi,
Sometime today I lost my phone signal on my SG2. I'm not sure exactly at what moment as I first noticed that I had a couple of bars but no 3G when I tried to browse the web. So I restarted the phone but to no avail. Since then I've lost all bars and can't make any calls either.
The only thing I have done today "out of the ordinary" was to connect to the phone using Wifi File Explorer to transfer a file, which I tried to connect to without being on a wifi network by first trying the "Wifi Direct settings" in Settings, which didn't work, and then by tethering by Wifi which worked. Maybe some setting got stuck in the process, but I'm not sure since never checked if it worked right before and after.
If anyone has any idea what could be wrong please let me know, as I am literally without a phone!
I recommend downloading http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/communication/no-signal-alert-pro_fyyo.html this will definitely be of benefit to you if your suffering from signal problems, it has been of good use to me.
Check your IMEI is the correct one for your phone .If not restore your backed up EFS folder .
Or try backup data and factory reset as a first step.

Thanks for the quick replies!
The IMEI does not correspond to the one I have written down, though I'm not 100% I what have on my note is the latest IMEI; but how could that change though by itself, if my note is correct??
Also, I just saw something very strange: I turned on my phone and had full bars (no 3G though), and right in front of my eyes all bars dropped, one by one, during the course of 5-6 seconds. Something is VERY off...
Regarding factory reset: my phone is rooted (thanks to XDA!) and I have Tit.backup: can I will my phone still be rooted if I do a factory reset?
Something went probably wrong when rooting it (not neccesarily any errors) and effed up tge EFS folder.
Try to flash back to stock ROM, it might work to restore your.folder.

I should have been more clear on that, but I rooted the phone about a month ago and it has worked flawlessly since then, so it couldn't be that.
Anyway, I looked around a little and found this post:
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...connectivity-but-no-idea-why.html#post2722784
He seemed to have had the exact same problem that happened to me, so I decided to wait, and sure enough the connection reestablished itself about an hour ago and while I was watching for it, with the signal slowly creeping back up during a couple of minutes, and several hours after I lost it. Very odd.
This surely has to be an Android bug but that only shows up under certain and rare conditions.
To be sure I made a speed test and got 4.84 Mbps/up, 1.19 down, which I guess is fine; I never did one prior to this so I have nothing to compare to.
Again, appreciate the advice!
EDIT: For posterity, I should add that during these hours, even when I briefly apparently had a (non-3G) signal, I had a notification during all this time saying that I could only make emergency call.
I'm having the same issue. No Bars at all most of the time and when I have some, it never connects to 3G, G at most, and can't load any thing at all.
Very frustrating. I have been using Lite'ning rom 6.1 for a few months and had no problems at all until about a week ago.
I flashed back to a stock rom and still having the same issue.
I've also seen the bars drop down one by one in a 5 second window, bizarre!
Anyone find a fix for this? Or could the phone be faulty?

I was on Lite'ning about 3 weeks ago and actually completely lost signal several times. Reboots and hard resets solved the problem temporarily. I then flashed Batista FH 2.4 with ICS and things were great. I'm now on GingerMod. No issues.
I don't know how it could be kernel related though, especially if you are 100% stock again.

Dead wifi on p769?

Hey guys,
I gave my old p769 to my pops, and some time ago he complained that his wifi stopped working. He's not fully sure what he did, he thinks maybe he pressed some button combination that disabled wifi? Anyways, I decided to use LG's mobile support tool to flash a fully stock V20H kdz on the phone; maybe flashing full stock might fix the wifi...it didn't. In stock I can press the icon into ON, but when I go into the wifi menu it shows no networks and the button goes back to OFF. In addition, at that point it won't allow me to turn the wifi back on. In custom ROMs, it won't allow me to turn the wifi at all, the icon is "faded out" in both settings and quicksettings. My dad told me that he does drop the phone a lot, and although the screen is intact, there appears to be some fuzziness on the screen. So...is the wifi dead?? I've attached some pics of the "fuzziness" from the phone's screen. Thanks!
Maybe a connection somewhere in the phone got disconnected since he does drop the phone alot. Also the fuzziness on the screen might be from the drops too.
Sounds similar to the behavior of my p760. WiFi dead, no reflashing or resetting helped. I don't know a solution though. I still had warranty and LG exchanged the mainboard. (I can look up the tests and what they did, if you're interested.)

Don't worry about it. So, it's been a while. My dad finally got the phone checked out, and turns out the numerous falls messed with some of the internals and thus wifi is dead. They said they could fix it but in exchange Bluetooth wouldn't work? But either way, my parents opted to use my sister's older phone, a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit (t599) and got him a MUCH BIGGER case.
Can't help but feel a bit salty as it was the 1st phone I ever fully tweaked thanks to XDA. But stuff happens. Thanks anyway! And thanks to all who made this phone a much more enjoyable experience, from xposed devs to CM11, to all who helped me fix my p769 after I thought I bricked it like a million times. You guys are all awesome

Mobile hotspot randomly stopped working?

Edit: just realized I posted in the wrong area. Feel free to move it. Sorry about that.
Everything was fine until my phone died last night. Upon restart, Hotspot would turn on, but no other devices showed it as available to connect to. Like it wasn't even on. Did a little research and tried the many suggestion about soft reset, pulling battery while running, holding power for 30 seconds while battery removed, etc....all to no avail. My hotspot still won't actually show up in a WiFi list. So I started looking for a stock Verizon Hotspot apk with no luck. I don't have any backups done, either. It's been rooted with Kingroot. Tried to flash a different recovery on it and almost bricked it a few times. It actually got stuck in a boot loop at one point but I got it working in a few minutes. This was 3 months ago when I rooted it.
So has anyone seen this before? Is there a fix? Am I looking at a factory reset? It's not hard. I know lol. It's just doing everything to get prepared to reset and then the anxiety over wondering if you missed any backups or if there were any files that were forgotten lol. Hoping it's an easy fix. Been using Bluetooth tether for now but I'm not sure how much longer I can do that. 1 hour? Maybe 2? lol. thanks!
New issue. Cant do a factory reset. I get a big yellow caution triangle saying use software repair to fix. I assume it's got something to do with the recovery I tried to flash. If I could get that sorted out I could wipe the phone. I did set everything else back to stock with no help. So how do I fix the recovery system? Flash stock recovery back on it?
Edit: I tried to search for this info yesterday and couldn't find it. Ironically, I came across it today while looking at something else. I just need to flash a stock OF1 and start over. Or that's what the info said that I found. Hoping it cures my Hotspot issue. I can't believe it just stopped working because my phone died.
1 more question. Can I extract the recovery.img from a stock OF1 build and just use flashify to flash it instead of converting back to tar for Odin?
Just to give this an ending and In case anyone else has this issue, it's solved. I had Verizon suspend and reconnect my hotspot service and it cleared out whatever was keeping me from broadcasting a signal or however it works. I'm my opinion, the system thought I was still connected when my phone died. Resetting my hotspot reset the system. That's about the best explanation I could come up with as I know zero about this stuff.
Anyway. It's fixed. Terminating Hotspot service and reinstating cleared whatever issue was causing the problem. Hopefully this can help someone else in the future. I only figured it out after a bunch of testing and logical reasoning.
