Help Porting android to a Sigma Designs SOC - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey All!
Sorry if this isn't the place to be asking this, but not sure where else to go for technical questions.
I've got a Sony Dash (model HIDC10) that I got as a gift years ago. It's been sitting on my bedside table and running through apps, but I figured it can probably be hacked for better use. So why not android?
Here's what I know:
I have root access to the device
It's running some strange flavor of linux, but seems to have a fairly normal filesystem.
It's SOC is a Sigma Designs SMP8652
Sigma seems to have some type of android kernel available[2] for this chipset, but not openly available.
uname -a returns Linux tango3 2.6.22.19-28-sigma #801 PREEMPT Mon Feb 13 03:37:26 PST 2012 mips unknown
Here's what I don't know:
If the frame buffer is compatible/has been ported
How I would go about getting android on this thing
How to get it out of a read-only filesystem
Any help would be appreciated. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or questions!
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Compiling a kernal module from stage 1

Hi
Could anybody point me in the direction of sourcing, locating and compiling a kernel module please? I have found many guides but they all seem to start halfway in the process ("assuming you have already managed to...", "assuming you are already proficient with...")
I have a cheap Android Chinese TV box. It came without joydev.ko so I can't use it with joypads/sticks, which is a pretty big limitation considering it has 4 usb ports which work fine with keyboards, mice and webcams.
I already have an Eclipse environemt set up which I use for Java/Android development but I've never dabbled with anything like this before.
I guess the steps required are something like this:
Locate source code for my particular Android version (Android 4.2.2, Kernel 3.3.0) - where do I do that? Do I need the entire source or can I just download and compile the module by itself?
Set up the cross compiler - is this a standard thing, or does it depend on my hardware? My chipset is an Allwinner A20 ARM Cortex-A7(Dual Core)
Compile the module.
So, have I got the steps right? If not, please correct me. If so.... how do I go about doing the above?

[Question] How to upgrade Sunvell T95m Android rom.

I've got a T95m, 1gb model running android 5.1.1. I've been looking all over the site but information on what software to use, how to get the device set up for upgrade, etc is scattered and disorganized.
My end goal is to use the little thing for Minecraft PE with a controller, which is impossible at the moment on 5.1.1, and the pointer capture api wasn't added I think until Android 8.0, so I can't use a mouse and keyboard without having to click and drag.
Anyone up for helping me figure out this thing? I know there's a lot of information here just getting it in order would be a blessing.
Its build number is :
LMY47V.20160720 test-keys
I can try to provide any extra information needed. I'm not unfamiliar with modifying android devices, flashing roms, etc, but this thing has me stumped.

Smartbook S10 building AOSP from scratch

Hello guys,
I hope I'm in the right forum.
I've studied several days, if it is possible to update my Smartbook S10 (smartbook.de/produktfeatures/72/technische-daten is the link from the manufacturer) from Android 4.4.2 to at least 7 (best case to the newest 9, that I'm trying atm).
It has got only 8GB of space, so I wanted to ask, if it's even possible with that low space and processor (RK3026)? Couldn't find clear information about this.
I've come that far, that I've created a new AOSP device tree and inserted all data I know/could find. But it fails now at the kernel.
I've tried to compile the common actual kernel 4.19 with Google's Android tools and getting this error:
Code:
/home/test/Android_Kernel/build/_setup_env.sh: line 28: /home/test/Android_Kernel/build.config: No such file or directory
My build repo lays at /home/test/Android_Pie. What am I missing or doing wrong?
Thanks in advance
Greetings

Hello Andi,
I've got a similar question about the device, although I'm not at all an expert as you seem to be. Just want to run it with an COS (lineage, etc). So I am looking for a COS for this device.
Did you manage to solve your problem?
Do you have any idea what COS would run on a smartbook S10?
Thanks for your answer
Hi Willi,
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I gave up this project after a few days, because I couldn't find any further information and I'm no dev at all. This was my very first attempt to compile a new kernel for an (additionally pretty unknown) Android device. The thing, which helped me the most was watching YouTube videos from https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnGqG_jyyXmTzdamBpKfeHA (AlaskaLinuxUser AKLU).
Maybe some more experienced users can help you here.
Greetings

Surface Go and android x86

I've recently bought a surface go for school (64gb emmc, 4gb ram model) and I love the pen and the build quality however i found windows to be way to slow on a device like this and decided to try android. android-x86_64-8.1-r2 installed fine and it runs great on this hardware except for a few issues such as camera, auto rotate and the like. I've run into a pre-made kernel that fixes these issues and will link it below. I was wondering if someone could help me with implementing this kernel into android x86 to get the full set of features working. Thanks in advance!
Kernel:
(On github) /jakeday/linux-surface/releases
Could you tell me how you implemented that pre-made kernel into Android x86? I'm trying to do the same thing with Bliss OS 11.10 (Kernel 4.19), but I really don't know how. I could have missed something on the GitHub page, but I don't know how to implement a kernel into Android. To be honest, I never implemented a Linux kernel into an OS.
I hope you read this even though it's already been a few months.
Thank you

Knock-Off Samsung Clone S22 Ultra

Recently my Dad bought a phone from Aliexpress that had device specifications that sounded great for what the price of the phone was. It seemed too good to be true however we decided to get it and see what it's like. Looking at the phone the specs are what the product page said it would be however the custom Android ROM installed on the device sucks. I really want to change it however I understand if this is not possible due to it being a knock-off phone that probably has highly specific hardware components.
I've managed to enable OEM Unlocking, and USB debugging.
I'm very new to Android custom ROM installing so I thought I'd ask if anyone can point me in a direction to achieve putting a custom ROM on the phone.
Phone Information:
Android Version: 12.0
Android Security Patch Level: April 1, 2022
Baseband Version: MOLY.WRB.W1449.MD.WG.MP.V111.4.P2, 2019/08/14 13:46
Kernel Version: 3.18.35 [email protected] #2 Tue May 24 21:44:38 CST 2022
Build Number: MRA58K Test-Keys
Custom Build Version: alps-mp-m0.mp23-V1.32.3_magc.cweg.m_P9
Model Number: S22 Ultra
CPU: Qualcomm 888+ Deca Core
RAM: 8GB
ROM: 256GB
Current Software Update: M1649839401286V198E_P1E3_S22_ULTRA_20220524-2120
I'll appreciate any advice. Thankyou!
