I'm using Gionee Elife E3 Since 1&1/2 year. Its working properly since it got the problem.
It has Kitkat 4.4.2,
Build No. E3_0102_V8151, kernel- 3.4.67
My problem is when I connect phone to PC via usb cable it shows only charging but not popup for selection of usb degug/charging/mass storage etc.
I have tried many options such as usb debugging check/uncheck, changing usb cable, updating PC drivers, shutdown & restats of PC and phone both, connect with/without battery, *#7284# not working etc......but nothing works
I install "any cut" software and search of "USB computer connection" /made shortcut but says "Application error-unfortunately, settings has stopped"
searched so many forums, google everything but failed
So pls guys who can help me exact solution for this except above tricks

The device simply wont connect or show up on any PC.
Tried installing KIES (lattest - Kies_2.0.3.11082_152_4). Nothing shows up
Tried putting the phone in downloading mode and then in KIES selected emergency firmware update mode and still no device.
Tried using lattest Samsung USB Drivers (1.3.450.0)
Tried putting the phone in downloading mode and connecting it to ODIN which it does not show up in the COM PORT area.
Tried dialing : *#7284# to change the SERVICE MODE to either USB, UART
Including Toggling DBG MSG
Tried different USB ports.
All doing this with USB DEBUGGING ON and tried with it OFF.
There is no USB Setting in About Phone or in Wireless and Networks settings from the settings menu.
There are many other people with this issue I found but all possible solutions that I have been able to find are listed and attempted but to no avail.
Ive read that others are having no problem connecting to their PC seeing as theres modding / custom rom forums all over. So people are able to connect which leads me to think that this is a carrier specific issue.

I thought I could start this thread on here to get some more solid advice and help.
I managed to unlock my phone. Not that this matters but I still can't connect it to a pc.
Is there a way to flash my phone with the need of a pc?
Would clockworkmod recovery work?
Would there maybe be an .apk that can be used to install the usb pop up screen or to mount the phone and allow it to be shown on the pc?
Does anyone have any ideas..?
turns out it was actually the usb cable.
I was using a micro usb that came with an LG Eve android phone.
I borrowed my friends HTC Desire micro usb cable and to my surprise it worked!
I hope this helps someone else and stumbles on this thread.

So this has happened out of nowhere. Like the title says I can't sync my phone to my PC. When I plug the USB cable in it keeps trying to find the driver for the "MTP USB Device" and always fails.
I have installed the Samsung Drivers and have rebooted the computer and phone.
Is it possible I don't have USB mass storage turned on? I did a search but couldn't find where that feature is.
I'm running:

I have a J1 (2015), 4.4 kitkat, It has been connected to my laptop, win 10, several times with no problem. Yet now it doesn't connect now. I tried connecting it to a different pc, win 7, yet the problem occurs. I tried download mode, doesn't work. the phone works fine but doesn't connect.( connects through bluetooth)
Also when i connect it says It Says "unknown usb device device descriptor failed"-"error code 43". stays for awhile and disappears
after it disapppears "asus virtual enumerator 01" appears under other devices
I tried: Updating drivers
Reseting my phone
changing usb ports
changing usb cables
changing pc

Hello everybody!
Elephone S8 arrived and i wanted to root it from the start, but issues issues issues...
Cant seem to do anything because when im connecting the phone via cable to pc it only charges itself, and nothing happens in the device manager (win10x64). There also nothing on the device list in ADB installer 2.0
- phone out of the box - nothing customized yet
- using original cable, and tried on other pc
- tried both usb debugging on/off
- developer options -> mtp selected
I went on through the installation of mtk drivers from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p9000/how-to/how-to-guideline-install-mtk-drivers-t3344042, but that also did nothing .
By the way, is the above driver valid for Elephone S8?
SOLVED: Ok so I had to buy another cable. The original cable didn't work for data transfer, so that was kinda unexpected.
Hi people, I'm having issue that's driving me mad. With USB debugging turned off, USB to PC connection works fine, I can tether, access my files and all that. If I try to connect with USB debugging enabled however, the USB connection just fails over and over again leading to hundreds of auto play popups on my pc and the "du dun" sound playing every second. I've tried removing all the drivers and reinstalling them to no avail.
Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on? PC is running Win 7 x64 ultimate, phone is on latest official firmware. Thanks.
