Position of the LED notification light - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I'm wondering, did any of you who had the Z5C in their hands notice where the LED notification light is? I've been searching the net, but nothing so far.
I wonder if it looks like Z3C or if it's even there.
Also lol, it says on the Z5C forum main page that it's a mid-range phone? Doesn't quite do it justice, completely opposite from it. You should put compact flagship or something like that.

If I'm not mistaken I think I saw green led in right corner of front panel.

Lucky you, i have a "dead pixel", green one.
And a yellowspot in the rightbottom corner, but that'll fade over time. (i hope)
I'm glad that the screen has a very high resolution, it's really hard to even notice the dead pixel.
I have noticed a yellowish tinge at the bottom of the display. Only really notice it when there is a white background. Is it likely that the display is somehow faulty??

I have the exact same, a yellowish spot in the bottom right corner.
I hoped it was the same problem as the iphone or SGS2.
They say the yellowspot is from the glue that they use to stick the screenlayers together, but it needs time to vaporise and should go away over time.
But I have my phone now almost a week and i still get the spot back now and then.

I've the same problem. I checked with service centre and they say it's software issues, which I can't believe.

Sounds like bull**** to me.
I had contact with T-Mobile today, about the dead pixel and yellowspot.
The guy told me he's going to get information for me, and see if they can replace it. he'll send me an email later.
Same hear.
Barely visible yellowish (only on whites) at the bottom part of the screen.
It varies depending on the view angle.
Perfect screen here

Lucky you! I'm still waiting for update from Sony! Will see if they can replace the unit.
I also noticed that at times the yellowish spot disappears and appears back again! I wonder what it could be!!

Ah you are the guy from the T-Mobile forum (Hiraj) with 5 dead pixels.
Anyway they told me it's in stock again next week (Monday 19th)
Just noticed that my screen keeps flickering, this is more noticeable on white backgrounds, is this normal as in the auto brightness or should I be worried?

Hi guys just wanna update you regarding screen issues.
I've spoken with people on the forum of my country, other 2 guys with Xperia S and both of them got that really barely visible yellow tint on the bottom part of the screen (also, one of these guys has 2 Xperia S -him and his brother- and both of them have that tint).
Really difficult to explain it on forums (nothing compared to the GS2 yellow tint) because it's really hard to see and only visible on white/clear colors uniform backgrounds, but according to what I'm seeing it's a common issue, not a problem of a single faulty unit.
Got a blue/whiteisch pixel to the top right of my screen
They said i need to have more then 3 to get a new phone :/`
Can i fix this ?

I have the problem too. I called technical team dept from where i bought the phone, and they asked me to do a screen test over the phone. I tap the screen it shows all white, tap again red, green etc etc. He asked me if i could see a yellowish tinge running across the bottom of the display when these colours appeared on the display which i couldn't to be honest. I took it back to the shop, and i dont know if it has to do with the bright lighting within the store, but it didn't show up hardly at all, barely noticeable. It seems less noticeable in a well lit environment, or outside as opposed to when i am at home where it i notice it more. It is midly annoying, but this shouldn't be the case.
Can anyone throw any light as to what this could be??
Thanks

I believe that yellowish tint has something to do with warmth from the screen or the battery or the screen staying on for a longer time or something or something.
because when I'm using it alot, playing games, browsing, whatsapp etc etc. for like an hour. It gets more visible.
And then it's from "barely noticeable" to "hard to miss"
I can clearly see it on Grey (notification slide down) or Blue (startscreen DrawSomething) or White.

Same here. Interesting what you say. I would still like to know where the consumer stands on this issue, and if Sony themselves would recogonise if this is a somehow a fault with the display. My Arc had no such problems.
Hi guys,
I'm new here, but I was reading the threads on the S from the start.
Reading through the screen problems I was thinking about the following:
The Xperia S's screen is glued- as I know -, like for example the iPhone4/4s'. Some i4 users noticed this yellowish tint as well, and they've came to a conclusion it was because of the glue what was used to put the screens together and it disappeared after about 1,5-2 weeks.
This could explain the reaction to temperature differences too.

[Q] Digitizer grid?

Hey people!
I have had this Sony Xperia Z2 for about a week now and I'm happy about everything but the screen. When tilting the phone in decent lightning I can clearly see the grid in the shape of lines going vertically from the top to the bottom of the screen like you can see on the posted photo. I can also see the dots when the sun is shining but this is something that everybody is reporting so I'm not worried about that.
So my question is, do you also see this and as clear as I am?
Yes, you can sleep well, we have the same visible grid. This is a price for thinnes of display.
Nice

Okay, please write here if you find out something about this subject. I find it quite strange though that no reviewers even mentions this when I picked up on it instantaneously.
About their technology, I saw a video from sony where they showed the display and the things underneath the screen. At one point they showed like blue lights shaped like lines which probably are what we see when looking at the screen from an non straight angle.

even my z1 had this i guess its the technology use in the screen ( ex. triluminos )
It's in all capacitive touch phones, but it vary from one to one on how easy to spot them depending on the screen and touch screen technology...
I had these in almost all my phones, Sony and non-Sony so don't worry...
In Xperia Z is the same.
My first phone had massively visible patterns on the screen and were clearly visible when the screen was off, I got my device replaced as it had gaps and over heating issues and the new device I received has nothing on it. Even the ones on display in the store had none. So i will put it down to a certain batch / manufacturing lot carrying these patterns.
PS: my first device was a W15 and the new one is a W19.
Can anyone post a picture with the digitizer visible in order to assess if this would be an issue?
Thanks.
I wonder if it has to do with how reflective the Z2 screen is. I've noticed that it's more reflective than most smartphone screens. It's not a huge deal to me, but I also think it's why some people complain about the outdoor performance. Ideally Sony will improve this in the future.

Xperia Z Red Tint Bottom Half of Screen!

Hi,
I recently got the Xperia Z2 Black and I noticed when I look at the phone directly without tilting there is a reddish tint on the bottom. When I tilt the phone slightly it go away. However, the way I use my phone is to put it directly (no tilt) when using it.
Is that normal? I read here that there are some Z2 that have gap or overheating but I have non of those. I recorded 4K video for 16 minute and nothing happened. I turned it off as my hand got tired.
Do you think I should return it?
Thanks.
PS: The red tint is not very extreme but it is very noticeable in white background. I used the white balance to reduce it but it's still there.
Note: The title say Z but it's actually Z2.

Hopefully I will not get any of the overheating problems or the gap problems as my old one didnt have any of those.
Thanks.

Display with one dot?

Hello,
I've recently got a Motorola 360 and i've noticed there's one small dot, i'm sure it's not a dead pixel as i shined a torchlight over the top and noticed there's just a gray dot whilst the screens off, Im unsure if Motorola will replace this for me? It's quite small so i can't capture it on Camera, It's just messing with my OCD
Do you use Wear Mini Launcher? If you do, it is a setting in there for "Enable assistive touch". Someone on another forum had pictures of something similar yesterday.

Pretty sure it's not the assistive touch dot. He's talking about something that is visible with the screen off, and the assistive touch dot could certainly be caught on camera.

That would bother me, too. If it were me and it persists, I would definitely try for a replacement.

Thanks for you responses I popped into store today and they confirmed it was a manufacturer fault in which they rightly exchanged me for a new product + I've noticed the new one seems to have a better display?

Picked mine up

Went to store earlier for a last minute pre-order and they has stock in, so I've now got a black one!
It's lovely - excellent screen (nicer than my G4), really solid build and first impressions are fast. Very excited to get to know it over the next few days!

Please share your battery experience
I'll share battery info but am off work the next few days so it won't be representative.
Camera seems good. Not tried low light. Definitely not going to take a picture of a grid because snaps so far look good and if I calibrate it and then see some distortion on the grid it'll annoy me unnecessarily. If I really need pictures of objects with minimal distortion then no camera phone is suitable so in my mind no point looking for flaws in a phone that's giving me a great first impression.
Are you on T-Mobile USA, if so, does VoLTE work on your phone?
I'm in the UK. Just got the new firmware update too. Still good impression after using it today.
Got mine as well, went for the Blue version. Had the XZ and the XZ1 is a good improvement, much quicker, a bit lighter and nicer overall. Also got the XZ Premium which I find a bit unwieldy in comparison. I'd been looking forward to the XZ1 coming out and am not disappointed. I loved the XZ so I knew in advance I'd really like the XZ1.
Decent battery - not a normal day's use. But about 3 hours screen on time and still 53% left.
Screen auto dim is a bit annoying. It doesn't change as smoothly as the g4 but seems to stutter. This a Sony thing?
anyone else with a blue one? The paint/finish on the back of mine looks like it a bit thin...there's a wispy/straggly bit all the way down the middle which is visible when tilted and it's annoying me
I'm on the black one, they only had that and silver in stock and I didn't like the look of the silver from the front. Had planned on getting a blue if they had one though!

'The auto backlight mode is jittery, though. It flickers up and down rather than doing so smoothly. I’ve found it a bit distracting when reading an article on the train. Go through a tunnel and the Xperia XZ1 looks like it’s having a breakdown. Let’s hope Sony fixes this with an update.'
http://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/sony-xperia-xz1
Thanks for the link on the review. If it's being commented on in reviews then hopefully Sony will sort out the screen.
Using it today, the phone is definitely responsive. And no stuttering over Bluetooth. That was driving me mad on the g4
How's the camera guys? I'm thinking of buying it but not sure because of the distortion issue.
Blue one for me also coming from the green Z5 I love this one.! Two things I notice though 'where are the small apps and why is the nfc icon in the status bar!'
So I just received my Sony XZ1 compact, and I was hoping someone could help me with these three questions:
- how can I check my lockscreen (notifications) when using the fingerprint sensor? (It immediately unlocks...)
- two triangles appear left of the WiFi icon (in the statusbar) when data is being transferred, shifting the position of the vibrate icon; is there any way to prevent this? (It's rather distracting)
- vibration is really noisy, can others with an XZ1 compact confirm?
Thanks!

Use a different finger or try to puss the button using the minimum of your finger just to see the lockscreen. I had the same problem and solve it like this
