Clock on Verizon Note 2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

OK, I've been searching all night both here and on Google, and my eyes are starting to blur.. I may be searching the wrong phrase I don't know.. But here's the deal.. I'm using a Note 2 that I got used for an awesome price ($25). It works like it's brand new and so far I'm loving it! I'm on the stock 4.3 mj9 firmware, rooted with saferoot, running safestrap 3.72 (twrp 2.7.0.0). I don't have the funds to send it to Texas for the bootloader unlock, so I'm testing out other touchwiz ROMs in slot 1. I'm not new to the process of rooting and flashing, so I'm not concerned on that account..
But what has got me flummoxed at the moment is the irritating clock that comes stock.. Granted I used cm10 through 12 on my Droid RAZR for years before I got the Note so I got used to a few things and don't like change.. So my question here is, is there any way at all to install a status bar/notification clock that has the same functionality as the cm deskclock? Or even the same look? Right now I have a shortcut to the stock clock on my homescreen but that feels like a clunky workaround solution to me.. I pulled the deskclock.apk from the cm12 that's on the RAZR and sent it to my Note, but when I move it to system\app and install it, it says something like Clock has failed.. I installed it, and deleted every instance of the apk from internal memory but still have it on my SD card in hopes somebody will be able to explain it to me..
Also, is there any way to install a flashlight/torch tile to the notification panel?
Am I out of luck? Am I better off using widgets on the homescreen? Should I install a custom ROM? Any ideas and suggestions are appreciated.. So are ROM suggestions.. I know Dev on this phone has kinda halted due to the bootloader lock, but it's still an awesome device with a lot of power and potential!
Thanks in advance XDA!

Also the phone is just being used as a WiFi device, so if there are any compatible ROMs out there that don't have the phone and messaging software I'd like to take a look at those.. Maybe I should just learn how to build my own ROM..

[Q] Widget's

Im using CM7, when I long press on the homescreen or any screen for that matter to add widgets (perferably one's that I have downloaded from the market) I cant seem to find what I had just downloaded, the only widgets that show are the one's that came with the ROM. What could possibly be the problem as to why Im not seeing the widgets Ive downloaded from the market ?
Ive enclosed screenshots of the problem
Hey i see you used ginger break. man i have the app on my home screen but when ever i atemo to press the root nbtton i become hesitant because i hink my phone is gonna get bricked
Of you can't see the widgets that's strange I use mik cm7 and have all my widgets try re flashing the rom and make sure you wipe all your data first
As far as rooting I use z4root and it works fine you won't brick it just from rooting it its installing custom recoverys and rom that could brick it but really if you fallow the instructions its not that hard our a big deal you get get bricked if you fallow all the instructions and you will see a huge performance boost

Are they on phone memory? Widgets that are moved to sd card give problems.

You know I had set that all new applications be moved to external source, now that you've said something about it, I reflashed CM7 when I didnt need to, Im thinking about switching to OpenOptimus though, I like the scripts that he has running
I used Gingerbreak, my phone isnt bricked, Id recommend using Gingerbreak though, but Ive read a few posts that has specifically said not to use GBreak if you were running 2.2, but I had no problems with it. If this helped you at all, give thanks

[Q] Question About Verizon Samsung Fascinate

Hi guys..
Sorry for wasting your time again..
Got a few question, jsut flashed my phone to gingerbread stock verizon..
I would actually want to ask what can i do to my phone after i root it?. i mean what will be the changes, cause i really can't understand the advantages of being rooted. they said there will be more options.
but what are those option?.. you mean i can download more apps in android market?.. am i right?..
also i have a question about the place where can we download full version apps games, i was informed about blackmart.. is that safe?..
also about the droidwall, someone told me if i rooted my phone, i can get that, and it seems to be very usefull to what she said..
Thankyou for responding to my question.
appreciate it so much..
also wants to confirm if verizon fascinate really doesn't have front camera cause im having hard time using the yahoo messenger video call only black screen
More Power Guys!!!
Rooting gives you the ability to modify your file systems, install custom roms, as well as apps that could not normally be installed on your phone. There is no front facing camera on your phone. You really need to ditch the gingerbread you ate using noe and follow the guide to get any of the android 4.0 roms that are on the site. You will understand why rooting is so nice when you are able to use one of those roms. You can install droidwall once you are rooted. If you are looking for free apps on the internet other than the play market, try using Google, it really works.

Rooting will allow you to do more to and with your phone than was intended. First and foremost for me it was being able to remove Verizon bloatware. You can install Custom Roms either Gingerbread or ICS, make tweaks to the phone that will make it run more effective and efficient. Either way, if you are going to root, the next thing you should learn about is making a Nandroid backup. This way you can always go back to where you were when you first started and then do it all over again to your liking. Have fun.
I too wanted to get rid of the bloatware. By putting on a ROM like Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) on my phone I don't feel the need to upgrade. The developer activity is very good on this phone so the performance of the roms is great.

[Q] [q] WHY IS MY multiview not showing multiple views...help

I recently rooted my note 2 with the root injection process. found the thread on how to get all apps in multiview. Followed the steps correctly, (which I must say was brilliant!!!) reset my phone, and opened multiview. Every app was there, as they should have been. However, when I drag the app over to the screen, they go into full screen. even if I drag one of the original multiview apps 1st, then another, the 2nd app will shade half of the screen like it is going to be half screen but then it blows up to full screen. Can anyone help with this. I really love this feature and would like to get everything to be able to be multiview. Any ideas of where I am going wrong???
Unlock and install a custom rom. Problem solved buddy

I didn't even bother with Kies. I was rooted and was pretty sure that Kies would not work until returning to stock.
went into the development section and to the Odin stock JB thread. someone had posted video on youtube and I watched it once.
got all necessary downloads and went through step by step. it seemed as if it hung at blue and white att ball, but left it plugged into Odin until it fully booted. out of the blue "YATZEE".
always a good idea, go slow and follow directions to the tee.
I always get nervous in the service, but this was pretty easy.

Pop-up note works for me, just hold down the S-Pen's button as you double tap the screen.
Despite what nearly every news outlet claims, multiview isn't in this release. Although according to Samsung's press release, the floating window support for videos and the browser made it in. I've gotten the floating video to work, but I can't figure out how to get the browser to float. I don't see an option for that anywhere.
The only other thing that isn't working for me is Samsung's stock image gallery. It crashes the phone, even after wiping EVERYTHING, and doing a re-flash. While I would have liked to at least test it, I just deleted it and I'm using QuickPic as a replacement.

Kinda a lot. I've deleted over 200 MB of bloat from /system and most things are pretty laggy. Where's Project Butter?! Other than the stability, it doesn't feel any faster or better than the existing AOSP JB releases to me. But strangely, some things like window animations and menus fading out are incredibly smooth. But as soon as I put my finger on the display, everything gets laggy.
But at least my GPS works properly. :| It didn't in any ICS ROM, including stock.
The new jellybean update from AT&T does not lag for me. People say it does but first, flash rom, factory reset, root, remove bloat, download setcpu, min 192 max 1.5. Does not lag one bit for me. :silly::silly:
Same experience as ^^^^. Remember friends, freeze a bloatware app, then use your phone for a while, and if there's no problems, delete.
Some apps you might be tempted to delete can bork your system. Proceed with care.
Sorry for my stupid question. Could you teal with apps did you freeze? I dont want stop something that might brick my phone

I froze every at&t app and google stuff I don't use like search and place. Don't mess with email and messaging.
If you're going to experiment, do you know how to make a nandroid backup? Its your insurance policy.
And you won't ever brick doing this. The worst thing is your phone will give error messages and won't function.
Just restore your nandroid.

How can I do that? I canĀ“t enter to recovery
The combos work...they are within the boatloaders if those were messed up your phone would be dead.
Yank the battery between trying the combos each time... if you can't get recovery to cooperate, try download mode and reflash.
Jellybean upgrade - or not??
Maybe I jumped the gun upgrading to stock Jellybean because I miss the following features
1) Three day calendar - maybe I messed something up but I don't see a way to get it back. Currently using weekly list view but its not the same. Also the "Today" widget only shows today the ICS one would show about 24 hours of items so usually would show what is going on tomorrow as well.
2) I am having S-pen issues. I have a collection of different Stylus pens and I have been using one from Samsung Electronics Slate PC because it had a nice size, shape, and an ERASER. The eraser no longer works in S-note. Also one of my favorite time wasters, Cubistry, the spen no longer registers (stock or Slate).
3) I'm getting old and fine print is getting harder to see. On the ICS Swipe keyboard, the long press characters were almost the same size as the regular characters. I'll have to look for another keyboard.
Full blown multi-veiw was also not included but I don't know if I would use it much.
We did get Google Now which I don't use that much & Polaris Office 4.0 that I use alot - the new office can edit text files (ICS could view them but not save text files).
Lol jumped the gun..
It's software if you don't like it just go back abs wait for custom Roms built on this firmware

I tried that and got pop up note, which is pretty cool, but in my first few attempts, I got several screen captures, but I also got a list of apps across the bottom of my screen. I don't know how I got it or what it was and have been unable to duplicate it. Anyone have any ideas about what it was?

Lollipop performance?

So I see the various issues with installation, and rooting. Aside from all that, for those that have it installed what are your early impressions on performance?
Thanks.

smooth
It's incredibly smooth and great improvement over kitkat, they did a great job with this release in my opinion
Is there really much of a need to root anymore? I'm not flashing ROMs, was mostly using it for a few apps. But wondering if I need it anymore.

I'm waiting for news on FoxFi. I don't use it a ton but when I do its great
I can't add widgets. Every time I try, Touchwiz force closes.
Edit: Fix : Modify Gestures and Airview settings , reset them etc , it worked for me afterwards.
Can you clear cache?
So far I like it it is smooth, buttery so, quick, and so far very stable for me. I haven't had many, if any, bugs so far. I do like the new look of *shudder* touchwiz which is a miracle for me. Ran Antutu and didn't see as much of an improvement as far as that goes 27000 from the 22000 I was rating at, however, on aosp I was over 30k
Hmm. I usually test out around 28-29k. Wonder what will happen with LP.

I had FoxFi installed and configured before updating. Still works just fine.
After struggling to get my system cleaned up enough to take the OTA, I finally upgraded today. Had root and Xposed primarily for cosmetic reasons. So far no regrets. It was a little sluggish for most of the day but seems to have settled in nicely. No real issues other than initially having trouble updating Google Play Services. The Play store simply didn't want to finish the download, but eventually it did. Also the phone was running hot for much of the day and battery life wasn't great, but I was also in some poor service areas. I'll report back if it continues.
Other than that, I'm loving it. Might wait a few more months before getting a new phone now, even though my contract is up in June.
5 is smooth, but the phone runs very hot. This is with our without location turned on.

I am running stock rooted lollipop on MDK bootloader. Performance is good so far better than on KitKat.
First time poster. Long time browser.
Just took the OTA. Formerly rooted on KK. Was a little laggy at first but has gotten better. I like the look. Contract is up in a month and figured whatever I get next will have it anyways so I might as well see what it's all about.
I flashed the rooted oc1 from nc5 and WOW
touchwiz lag is no longer a thing. Samsung finally let you access the camera from a secure lock screen. pattern lock doesn't lag anymore. you don't have to jump through hoops to change your wallpaper for home and lock screens. messages actually send.
on top of that, everything is stupid fast. this is the best thing Verizon and Samsung have ever done, and at this point the galaxy s6 doesn't seem so bad.
Don't remember which update removed SD card write privileges, but they appear to be back. I can once again use ES File Explorer to copy music/pictures to my SD card (running stock, unrooted).
Win some lose some, it looks like some available actions using the Secure Settings app (usually paired w/ Tasker) have been stripped away: toggling data on/off now requires root.
Everything seems smoother, noticeably swype.
Not really digging the new notification cards that cover the top section of the screen and sit for maybe a whole 10 seconds before going away.... are they bothering anyone else?

The SD card functionality isn't fully there. Multiple apps (eg ttorrent) still can't write to the SD card. I was able to do it under Kit Kat after installing an app to restore that function. Is anyone else experiencinthe this? If so, is there a fix coming (or an internal setting I am missing)?

About 10 minutes ago, I ran a Play Store app called SDFix https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix and it fixed my SD Card write problem. App says it's for KitKat but it works on Lollipop.
