Alright peeps, I need some direction!
I paid full retail for my wife's Note 2 for Christmas, rooted & unlocked bootloader Christmas day. I made a boo-boo and tripped the Custom Binary counter at that time, no big deal. I returned to stock at that time and left her device alone.
Sunday she noticed horrible battery drain. It turns out that the CDMA portion of her radio is not working. LTE is fine. After doing a factory reset etc it still does not work correctly.
Verizon is sending her a replacement via the 1 year warranty she has on the phone. My concern is that because this is a factory warranty the Binary count may be a big deal as it still shows a count of 1.
Does anyone know if Chainfire's Triangle-away app works after the new update? From what I have read, it requires an unlocked bootloader to reset the count but it does not state which bootloader it works for.
Here is what I THINK needs to happen, if it works at all...
1. I need to unlock the bootloader & root using Adam's new method.
2. I need to use Chainfire's Triangle-away app to reset the status (If it works)
3. ?? I need to return to stock Bootloader & firmware somehow ??
4. Profit (hopefully)
Will this work guys?
How to I return to stock after using Adam's new exploit?
Thanks for all the help in advance!
If it got the ota you can never restore the old bootloader. The new bootloader blacklists the original one. Sorry that's all I can answer. Good luck

Do steps 1 and 2 then Odin the stock VRLJB firmware. Then let it take the ota again. You will now have a counter of zero and be on stock VRLL4.

Thanks for the quick reply guys.
I will let you know how it turned out.

Sure does. People say it soft bricks you, but if you're about to Odin to stock anyways so cares

You can also use mskips toolkit

It worked guys. My only concern was Triangle-Away not working on the new bootloader but it was not an issue!
Thanks for giving me the much needed nudge to move forward.

It booted right back up into android with no problem for me. I got a soft brick when attempting to use it on a locked bootloader.
Interesting... Good to know. Not sure if I'll need it but again nice to know it works.

Hey guys- I am still on stock rom, just rooted and flashed custom dialpad..How would Mrskips toolkit allow me to " reset ' flash counter w/o losing root or undoing simple mods( dialpad, debloated ). And if Not- how would triangle away work- without risk of Bricking? Still have warranty ( bought phone 2 weeks ago ) Please help and elaborate ( other options or risks) where possible!..Thanks!!
Can we still root with the software update mj4 or do we have to wait on a new root file.

1. Take the update after flashing back to stock to get it
2. Download and Save to phone either stock rooted ROM or or any other rooted ROM
3. Odin TWRP, when it reboots hold volume up/home to boot into recovery
4. Wipe and flash rooted ROM
This is how I did it and works well. If your trying to keep the knox flag from tripping this is not the method you wanna use.
Knox safe. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484095

What if you're Knox flag is already tripped from a previous root will this still work?

Yes. Not the KNOX Safe ROOT method though, once you trip the binary counter it is considered permanent.

To clarify. You can still use the knox safe methods if your knox is already flipped. It just won't reset the knox. However if your flipped already you might as well use cf auto and twrp

I just got my SGN3 today, got the MJ4 update and then odined TWRP 2.6.3.7-hltespr... Working great!!!
I had previously tripped Knox.
So I updated to NAB using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2657447
Everything worked like a charm.
Knox was reset to 0x0!
Did anyone else have this experience?

Are you sure you had 0x0? Did you just rooted or Custom recovery?

Absolutely certain I had 0x0 after flashing using that method.
Prior to manually updating I had Knox 0x1
I Rooted and Custom TWRP.
I followed EVERY step in that step-by-step. With ONE exception, I mistakenly flashed the Engineering Bootloader BEFORE following that tutorial.

Well if you could list what firmware you came from? What bootloader you had previously etc etc
It may help Developers with the fight against knox

As far as I know there is no MJ4 engineering bootloader. The engineering bootloader is NA4 which is the first kit kat leak and the bootloader is is unlocked.

I think what freeza did is morph the NA4 engineering with the NAB bootloader thus creating a daily usable NAB bootloader.

I'm not so certain. I believe that unlocked bootloader was obtained the old-fashioned way, by it landing in the right hands. If what you've suggested were true, then why release it as unique? The OP of that thread makes it pretty clear that it's a very nice item to have and we won't know if another is coming.

I just believe it's the fact you have an engineering bootloader..... The bootloader you are now on is that is the engineering one or stock?

Okay, so let me see if I have the steps correct on this.
1. You flashed a custom recovery and rooted your device, thereby tripping Knox. Did you use CFAutoroot or Kingo? The recovery would have tripped knox anyways, but just checking for root method.
2. You started with MJ4 or did you upgrade to MJ4 and if you upgraded, was Knox tripped before? (I started with MI3, some had MI5). This is mainly to find out if you tripped Knox before or after MJ4.
3. While on MJ4, you flashed the NAB engineering bootloader.
4. You ran the one-click to update to 4.4.2
If you can clear up points 1 and 2, you could probably turn this into a guide to help others.

Hi, I'm under 5.0.2, rooted with pingpong root.
Is there a way to be under 6.0.1, rooted, without tripping knox?
Thanx for the answer

Still no updates? Hasn't anyone managed to root 6.0.1 without tripping knox yet? :/

Is it possible to root my s9+ without tripping knox? I don't want a custom rom. I just want the zero camera mod for 30 second exposure time
